Dec 2025 LANE DEPARTURE The tailgate control module has been water damaged and needed to be replaced twice. My local Honda dealership was unable to correct the issue and stated that it is due to a water leak in the frame of the vehicle/tailgate. The dealership has identified the tailgate control module as the cause of the electrical issues causing the battery to die, and advanced safety features to malfunction. Warning lights came on for break system problem, lane departure mitigation system problem, and many other systems all caused by the tailgate control module being water damaged from a leak in the frame.

Dec 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The front camera that regulates the adaptive cruise control failed. Now it does not allow for any of the safety features to work. I’ve gone on multiple Honda forums and a lot of people have the same issue.

Dec 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Summary of the Problem: The power tailgate motor on my 2020 Honda Odyssey has failed multiple times, causing the liftgate to stop midway, refuse to open, or abruptly close on its own. This failure creates a safety risk because the tailgate can unexpectedly drop or close on adults or children standing underneath it. Detailed Description: The tailgate motor on my 2020 Honda Odyssey has stopped working correctly on three different occasions. I have taken the vehicle to the Honda dealership repeatedly and have paid hundreds of dollars for repairs, yet the problem keeps returning. The tailgate will randomly stop while opening, won't fully lift, or will close unexpectedly and forcefully. This is especially dangerous when loading children or cargo, as the tailgate can fall without warning. After researching online, I found many other 2020 Odyssey owners reporting the same tailgate motor failure, indicating that this is a widespread issue rather than normal wear. The repeated failure suggests a potential design or safety defect. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this recurring malfunction as a potential safety issue and determine whether a recall or corrective action is necessary.

Dec 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Dash has warning light showing "Power Tailgate Problem", and power tailgate will not function. The next day there was heavy rain, and the dash had a flickering warning showing the tailgate was open. This also caused the interior lights to flicker on and off as the tailgate open warning was flickering on and off. I returned the van to my home for fear that the tailgate would open automatically while driving down the road. I had the tailgate control module replaced on February 27, 2025 for this same issue, which was due to a tailgate seal leaking water onto the tailgate control module that shorted the module. This is now the second time within less than one year this same module has shorted out. This is a known issue with a class action lawsuit already filed against Honda that should result in a recall. The potential danger of the tailgate opening while driving makes this minivan not usable to transport my kids for fear of their safety.

Nov 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The forward facing camera failed on my 2020 Odyssey with only 90,000 miles. Because of this failure, I am loosing all my forward facing safety features. This seems to be a common issue across many Honda vehicles and most users report being told the issue is being caused by overheating. Since users are being told this is a cause and effect issue, the manufacturer should address this at their expense. I first noticed this issue in mid September 2025.

Nov 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM When pressing the accelerator, there is an extremely loud and abnormal noise coming from the fuel pump. The noise is so severe that it raises safety concerns while driving. The issue appears similar to fuel-pump–related problems reported in other recalled Honda vehicles.

Nov 2025 ENGINE My wife started hearing a knocking sound while driving, coming from under the hood. I opened the hood while the engine was idling and could tell the sound was coming from inside the engine. Checked the oil level and it was in the operating range and looked clean. I had just changed the oil and filter 08/2025. After that we immediately drove it to the Honda dealer where we purchased the vehicle and the service manager heard the noise, checked for recalls, but could only find the recall for the 2019 Honda Odyssey [XXX] The service manager called in one of his mechanics to listen to the noise in the service manager bay and he said, "Sounds like a bad rod bearing". They then took the vehicle to inspect it further in the mechanic's garage, but as they were pulling it into the bay the engine complete seized up. The vehicle only has 68k miles on it, but now its beyond the warranty period. I was also told by the dealer when I purchased it, that it and the 2019 are identical, so why was the recall issued for the 2019 Odyssey, but not the 2020 model? I'm reading lots of similar reports of this same exact issue with the 2020 model from Honda forums and on youtube posts. This engine problem is clearly larger than the initial recall that was issued in 2024. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Oct 2025 AIR BAGS Side airbags deployed while driving down road at about 35 mph hitting a minor bump in road. Air bags deployment while the car is in motion during safe driving conditions is a distraction to the driver and harms the passengers who are in the vehicle who if the airbags did not deploy would have remained safe since no collision was experienced. Took vehicle to Honda dealership- who stated airbags worked as intended and we needed to file a collision claim with insurance- despite no collision taking place and no other damage to the car i.e. no bent rim or flat tire/tire damage. Just saw article stating our scenario was not unique to our make/model of van.

Oct 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Several warnings lights appeared on the dash at the same time regarding the accident safety features including: Adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assistance. None are currently working. The warning randomly appeared. It's associated with the camera behind the windshield and the radar detection behind the front emblem. Problem confirmed by dealer. Components have not been evaluated by anyone.

Oct 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE All warning lights came on for Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assistance.Based on my research, it seems the forward facing camera has failed. The vehicle only has 37,000 miles on it and it is only 5 years old.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE Make: Honda Odyssey 2020 Mileage at Failure: ~40,000 miles Incident Description What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The front sensing camera system failed, which controls multiple driver-assistance features, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lane Departure Mitigation, and Collision Mitigation Braking System. When the issue occurred, all related dashboard warning lights illuminated simultaneously. The vehicle’s front camera module is still installed and can be made available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? When the camera malfunctioned, all driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems were disabled without warning. This created a serious safety concern because the vehicle unexpectedly lost its lane-keeping, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation capabilities while in motion. It increased the risk of a crash, especially during highway driving or when relying on these systems for lane and speed control. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The Honda dealership confirmed the issue after diagnostic testing and stated that the front camera module had failed and must be replaced. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Honda dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. The dashboard displayed multiple warning messages, including: ACC, LKAS, Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Mitigation These warnings appeared suddenly at approximately 40,000 miles and have persisted since. The dealer quoted $2500 Also I found numerous reports from other Honda owners experiencing the same camera-system failure at low millages.

Oct 2025 ENGINE I was driving with family to a family trip up to the mountains to enjoy the snow when at a rest area I noticed the odyssey just had a slight delay to turning on before continuing the trip. No lights no signs of anything going wrong. As we continued our trip back onto the freeway on a curvy road and night time the odyssey didn’t want to shift gears wouldn’t speed up for freeway traffic. Immediately started pulling over. The odyssey would make like jerking movements decided to call the tow truck and it quickly escalated to draining the battery. After being at the tow facility for one night it completely didn’t want to even turn on next day. Put a new battery and still drains the battery. I took it to Honda service to run a diagnostic and they come back saying the engine is seized. No lights no signs didn’t see this coming with only 87,000 miles. With a black screen displaying electrical issue at times.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The Infotainment system started blanking out and restarting while driving. This issue has started about 1 year ago to this date. it has occured on multiple occassions, We have brought it to Honda to get it repaired under warranty but they refused. The refusal was due to the fact that they could not "duplicate" the issue regardless of having Video Proof of the issue. The second issue is the Multipurpose camera Malfuncition. My vehicle is no longer under warranty and now I have to shell out $800 USD to fix this issue. All the lights have popped up on the Dash. Both issue have not been adressed by Honda, they refuse to fix the issue with countless other electrical problems that this van has aquired over the short lifespan of this vehicle.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION Complete infotainment system loss and screen blackouts Repeated “Network connection lost” errors Inoperative reverse camera and parking assist systems Ongoing 12V battery drainage due to system faults My Honda dealer has diagnosed the problem as a defective floor wire harness and advised that the entire harness kit must be replaced at an estimated cost of approximately $7,000. While I greatly appreciate the 80% goodwill coverage already offered, the remaining $1,400 out-of-pocket expense is still a significant hardship — particularly since this is a known and documented defect affecting vehicle safety systems. This issue directly impacts the federally mandated rear visibility system (FMVSS 111), rendering the reverse camera and related safety functions inoperative. As such, this is not simply a convenience or infotainment problem, but a critical safety concern. Honda is charging $7000 to fix it and now it says it’s the floor harness kit. They are only covering 80%. I’m required to pay 1400 even though this is a known problem with this vehicle and it’s been occurring since I have owned the vehicle due to multiple visits to the dealership for a resolution, thousands of dollars being spent trying to figure out what it was, we already replaced the head unit and Head unit harness, multiple sensors on the doors, which were not even necessary because the battery was draining from the head unit and now I have no camera and my car is crashing and shutting off and Honda is refusing to escalate

Oct 2025 ENGINE In the past six months the Honda "auto-start" feature has caused my vehicle not to restart while stopped at an intersection. Honda needs to immediately recall all Gen 5 vehicles that use the auto-start feature and permanently disable (or give an option to disable) this useless, safety-affecting "feature". Thank you.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The Infotainment system continually goes blank, while driving leaving the backup camera disabled and without navigation. I returned the van a week after purchase and did not get it back for a month. Despite the recall was never completed. It has been back to the dealer 6 times for the same issue with no improvement. Currently the problem still exist and the dealer WILL NOT HONOR the uncompleted RECALL ISSUE. The dealer insists the recall was completed yet the original issue was never resolved and is saying I will need to cover all costs.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS,SEATS I am submitting this complaint regarding a faulty Multi-Model Seat Weight Sensor (SWS) in my 2020 Honda Odyssey. I understand that NHTSA Recall 24V-064 covers this issue for certain vehicles; however, my VIN is not included, even though my vehicle is exhibiting the same malfunction described in the recall notice. Multiple independent mechanics and certified airbag technicians have inspected my vehicle and confirmed that the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) circuit is open, indicating that the front passenger airbag will not deploy in the event of a collision. This represents a serious safety hazard consistent with the defect outlined in the official recall documentation (NHTSA Recall 24V-064 Report: [XXX] ) The warning light for this malfunction was present when I purchased the vehicle in August 2025.
