| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | The welds on my door snapped, which is causing a grinding noise and preventing the window from opening. The dealership has told me that I need a new door for my vehicle. My vehicle has less than 30,000 miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | On 7/11/2023, I opened my driver's side door and heard some strange popping sounds I had not heard before, my window would not work correctly either. I got into my Ford 2020 Escape and proceeded to drive home while driving approx 35 miles an hour while making a left turn the driver's side door flew open. The weld on the driver's side door has failed along it exhibits cracks and/or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly. Please see attached photos. There was no warning that the door was not completely shut. The car has been looked at, at the dealership and they have assessed that the failure of the weld Section 501-03 is what caused the problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Some 2020-2021 Escape vehicles may exhibit cracks or broken spot welds in the left front door at the check arm attachment point in the door assembly. My door started making a lot of noise when opening it and closing it. Now I can only open my door to a certain degree and and cannot open it all of the way. My window now is not working properly so I can't open it without it getting stuck halfway down. Is very hard to close the window. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My driver's side front door has started to make a large popping noise and is resisting opening/shutting. A few days after this started my window has also started to act up, not wanting to go all the way down or going down when I'm trying to get it to go up. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | POWER TRAIN,STRUCTURE | At a little over 4,000 miles and less then a year in to owning my car the transmission went out. Now at at little over 36,000 and now the driver door isn't opening easily, and is making a popping noise. This shouldn't be happening with a car this new | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The center hinge connecting the driver's side door to the car has become disconnected as if it is no longer welded to the car door. This hinge limits how far the door can swing open. The concern is the door being unable to close completely and the window mechanism not working properly. The problem was first noticed on July 5 as there was a clicking sound as the door was opened as well as some resistance. People at three different dealerships noted that "this is a problem that has been occurring." The third Ford dealership is willing to do the work. Here the problem was documented and is scheduled to be repaired on July 24. A new door will need to be ordered and replaced. The service manager warned me of two complications that could possibly occur because of the broken hinge. Since July 5 I have been exiting and entering my three year old car through the passenger side since I cannot risk not being able to close the door. I also am careful not to open the window as it may come off of its track. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | In 2021, driver door popped and made grinding sounds when opening. Mechanism inside had broken. Door was replaced under warranty by the dealer, Boucher Ford. Fall 2022, same issue with the driver door. Also started noticing door wouldn't always close completely and intermittent problems with the electric window not remaining closed. Dealer would not help despite only one year since it had been replaced, told me to call Ford. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | Service engine soon light is on due to the injector problem that has been recalled, but has not been fixed yet, because the dealer has not received the parts yet. Service engine soon light is also throwing a code for the catylitic converter and it’s causing the vehicle to run and shift poorly and getting worse fuel economy because of this issue. I have always bought Fords and I’m very dissatisfied with the problems I’ve encountered since I’ve purchased this vehicle. I think these issues need to be addressed and fixed ASAP, because this could potentially lead to a fire under the hood or underneath. Toni Ann | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | At 75,000 miles the door spot weld on the check arm bracket failed. The window also will not go down. We now have 85,000 miles and the passenger door spot welds failed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V859000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | I was getting out of my car and when I opened my door it sounded like someone had hit my car. I checked to see if there was any damages and there was none. After further investigation I noticed that the spot welds on the driver side door of my 2020 Ford Escape came loose and the door was starting to move freely inside the door. This causes the door to not be able to open all the way. I took my vehicle to the dealership and they kept it for weeks before they told me that I had to have my door replaced and it was going to be $4000. I called Ford and they sent a representative to the dealership to look at it and they did agree to pay 40% of getting it fixed but I still don't have the $2000 to get something fixed that is clearly a manufacturer defect. I even have an extended warranty but this part was not covered. There were no warning lights, messages, or anything. This happened at 59,600 miles. I have attached pictures of the left and right door jams (spot welds) for comparison. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | Spot Welds at door check are starting to crack/fail making a intermittent snapping noise. This is on both front doors. There are 6 spot welds holding bracket on. At this time the ones behind the check on the door is failing putting stress on the other spot welds. Dealer said it out of 36 month warranty so, I would need to pay myself when it completely fails. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | 2020 Ford Escape - 3 Broken Spot Welds In The Left Front driver Door At The Check Arm Attachment Points In The door assembly. The door swings wide open. Just broken off on their own. Nothing stops door now bc arm limiter is detached off. Can see 3 obvious Welding holes that broke off. Closing door is very difficult bc broken arm is in way. Makes cracking clicking sounds. Window will not go down now either. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | Door check device on the drivers door broke off at the riveted attachment point. Device started making a popping noise followed by a complete failure. Door would not close and window would not roll down or get stuck in the down position. Stopped and had body shop remove door check device. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | My 2020 Ford Escape has the reported problem with the door making a popping noise due to a problem with the spot welds on the inside. I have not had an issue with the door coming open on its own and did not know that was a possibility until I read about it in the news today however my vehicle does have the same symptoms as are reported. I was in the process of taking the vehicle in for the other safety recalls on it but had to delay that work due to the door issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | On May 30th my driver's side door hinge broke and arm fell inside the door, my Ford dealership ordered new door, due to not being able to make repairs, still waiting on 1st door, then on June 27th the passenger front door did the same exact thing, only this time door would not close, had to go to dealership while my wife had to hold door because it was open, we are both elderly and this is dangerous . I contacted Ford relations and because I am barely over the 36,000 miles they said they cannot repair either of the doors..please help..there needs to be a recall under this. I see alot of people filing complaints. Look under SSM50150, THIS IS AN ONGOING, very dangerous problem. Ford needs to be responsible!! It is a flaw in manufacturing , how this happened to both doors within a month of each other..please help. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | The door welds came apart with a loud pop. The door would not open or close properly. There was no warning prior to the failure. Ford inspected door and gave an estimate of $1900 to paint and replace the door. Independent body shop inspected and welded new check arm for $700. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | The initial occurrence was on March 7, 2023. The door suddenly made very loud popping noises when opening and closing the drivers side front door. The window was inoperable because of the door malfunction. I took the vehicle to Borgman Ford on March 8, 2023. They acknowledged that they knew what the problem was and had seen quite a few Escapes with the same issue. My Escape was then scheduled for repair/replacement on March 13-15, 2023. This was a great expense to me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | The driver side front door made a creaking sound, could not be opened, and the window would not go down. The internal weld to the door failed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | Last fall when I stopped at my in-laws and got out my drivers door made a popping sound and I proceeded to close it. When I came back out and got in and went to close it it sounded like a door out of the Addams family. Lot of creaking and grinding. Immediately called the Ford dealership and was told to bring it over first thing the next morning. After [XXX] looked at it he had guessed the spot welds had left go in the door. When he shown the flashlight in the door he said oh no I'm going to go get the body man. I think it has messed up your bracket also. [XXX] came out and immediately looked at it and said oh yeah the spot welds have popped and said it was messing up the bracket. [XXX] said I don't want it to leave we're going to take it right around to the body shop to get it fixed and he would see what he could do with Ford on the repair. We crawled back in the car to drive around the building to the body shop. [XXX] parked outside the door got out and went to shut the door and the bracket completely left go at that point and would not shut. They had to hang on to the door to keep it closed enough to get it in the building since it would not latch. That door was closed three times after the initial pop and then would not latch. That would have been a safety issue if I had been away from home and not at the dealership at the time of failure. Ford took care of the bulk of the bill but it still cost me $520.14 out of pocket for shoddy workmanship on Ford's part. Curious to know if the other three doors are going to have the same issue at some point in time! | Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | While opening and closing left front door (driver door) making a popping noise which is now making it difficult to close and open the door. This opposes a safety if I’m not able to open my door when needed. This has started a few days ago so I have not contacted dealership and confirmed with them but I have watched a few YouTube videos regarding others having the same problem and concern. There were no warning lights/lamps present and no prior problems before this occurred. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Lt door is very hard to close, does not open properly. Lt door check arm weld broke. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | STRUCTURE | Drivers side door weld points in the hinge system failed causing the door to fall off the car. Door was repaired by FORD but we have had issues with same door and are not being taken care of. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Back in March my door started making a popping noise. As time went on the weld spots broke which then led to me not being able use my car door window or lock the doors as the fuse keeps blowing due to the parts that are broken. My door also doesn’t latch completely and I don’t feel safe. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
