Oct 2023 STRUCTURE Driver's door, left front, check strap broke at weld inside of door. Door pops real loud when you open it. The door came open today driving down the road I couldn't get it to shut.
Incident: Oct 2023
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Oct 2023 STRUCTURE It started with a creaking sound in the drivers door. Then three days later the door became very difficult to close. Took the car to the dealer service department and was told it has a broken spot weld failure that causes the door to be difficult to close and and the window to nor open fully. It is my understanding that this is a known safety problem with other vehicles reporting the same issue. My vehicle has only 18472 miles on it and is 3 years, 3 months old, so no longer covered by the warranty.
Incident: Sep 2023
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Oct 2023 STRUCTURE The driver's side door has a broke weld - there is an issue that it will not open and close correctly. Also due to the issue the window can not be rolled down which can causes visibility issues when rain or fog conditions are present. The door can sometimes be latched closed and other times will unlatch on its own. I tried to resolve with Ford but they indicate it is a known issue and will not cover the repair, leaving me to not be able to afford the repair but still in need of using the vehicle.

Oct 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The front radar that enables collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, etc. has failed. It first started as an intermittent problem that quickly progressed to a total failure. The vehicle was not involved in an accident or any misuse that would cause this problem.

Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Oct 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My driver side door all of a sudden started making popping sounds when opening and closing. Got to the point where I could not close the door. I had to disarm the mechanism that was popping. I did a little research and I was able to see the rivets that hold the arm had pulled through the door panel thus causing the arm not to work properly. I am just over the 36,000 mile warranty so will not fall under the warranty. Because I had to disarm this mechanism to be able to shut my door I have no protection to protect the door from over opening and causing more damage. I also see there have been several other complaints of Escape owners having the same issue.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the door needed to be replaced. The vehicle was no repaired. Crash: No Fire: No 47,000
Oct 2023 STRUCTURE A weld in the driver-side door failed rendering the door nonfunctional and making it difficult to safely exit the car and creating a concern that the door may not provide proper protection. The weld failure was not due to an accident for any misuse. Personnel in the Ford service department and body shop were very familiar with this problem due to other similar cases. Ford corporate is reluctant to acknowledge or address the problem, stating that the NHTSA has not required a recall. As a senior citizen I should not be expected to climb through my vehicle to exit my vehicle safely and I should have confidence that the door will protect me. The failure of the weld requires the entire door to be replaced at a cost of $2000. Welding is the basic blocking and tackling of car building and Ford has been welding car bodies for over 100 years so there is no excuse.

Oct 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Driver side door makes an unusual sound when opened all the way. Until it got to a point that it makes a popping sound when opened/or closed. The door check bracket is loose. Called the dealership and they said they’d have to change the entire door?? That would cost thousands of dollars for something that’s out my control. This has to be investigated and recalled for free. I’m very concerned that this would eventually cause my car door to fall off while driving. God forbid!
