Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE On [XXX] at [XXX] I was driving home from work as I turned on [XXX] road in Jackson CA I felt the vehicle pull and not want to pick up speed to drive up the road like it wanted to stall and only rolled forward a bit. The vehicle then picked back up and I made it to the stop light at the end of the road once I stopped for less than 1 minute the light turned green, I tried to go and the vehicle shut off and began to roll back I had to step on the break and the car behind me reversed so I would not hit him and then the screen flashed a turn vehicle off and restart engine I tried multiple times about 6. Cars had to go around me as I was the first at the light. I finally got the car to turn on and white smoke came out the exhaust pipes I couldn’t put the car in drive. I tried to re start the vehicle again and got it into drive and was able to pull on the side of the highway and more white smoke came out still no vehicle warning signs came on but the screen flashed dimly like it wanted to turn off again. I flagged down a fire truck and called 911 for help the fighters stated it seemed like my engine had blown out and the coolant was completely drained and may have gotten inside the engine causing the white smoke but to take it to a mechanic to verify. I had the vehicle towed to my home. On the way to work that night it drove fine with no issues or warnings, or pulling, I ran errands the day prior and no light warnings came on nor was my vehicle temperatures out of place. I even had my car serviced on [XXX] and had no issues I keep up on the maintenance I got the vehicle used from enterprise with a mileage of 52,559 on [XXX] the vehicle now has only 96,634 I’ve had the car for only a year and 4 months it should not have had an engine issue l have made a claim with my insurance hoping to get help, I’m calling enterprise for warranty information if there’s any and ford to see if there is any manufacturer warranties hoping to hear back this week. Leaving me with an extended warranty whom will not cover said repair also. $1800(+) out of pocket expense. Any insight on how one is too challenge this?

Feb 2024 POWER TRAIN I purchased my 2020 Ford Edge in Dec 2021 with 8,000 miles at Covert Hutto. Looks like this car was being transferred to dealership after dealership. I feel that Ford should payoff my car and give me another car and take ownership of it being a bad production seed. It was built in Canada during the pandemic. I won’t feel safe because they took my transmission apart and how would I know if or whenever the torque converter is replaced it won’t damage quickly or something else goes wrong before my 60,000 mile’s warranty expires. Powertrain was the component that failed and/or malfunctioned. It’s at Covert Ford and is it available for inspection upon your request. I was in my driveway when the powertrain wrench light appeared on my dashboard. Yes the problem has been confirmed by Covert Ford service department. My vehicle was inspected by the License Transmission specialist at Covert Ford. There were no warning signs until I started my vehicle. I received a email alert and my FordPass app had an alert messages. There were no prior problem. The problem appeared on [XXX] and I towed it first thing on [XXX]. Feb 2024 VISIBILITY,STRUCTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V575000 (Visibility) and the vehicle was repaired before the contact took ownership of the vehicle. The contact stated that after taking ownership of the vehicle, the rearview camera failed to display an image in the rear of the vehicle. The camera displayed a black screen in cold and snowy weather. The contact stated that the carpet near the wheel wells would collect snow causing ice to form around the tires, causing damages to the tires. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V575000 (Visibility) was related to the present failure; however, the vehicle could not be repaired free of charge. The dealer had placed washers near the wheels to prevent snow from accumulating by holding down the carpet. The vehicle was sprayed with a liquid to prevent further damage to the wheel wells as well as another liquid on the back over the camera to ensure that the rear of the vehicle would be properly displayed. The contact stated that the repairs only prevented the failure from occurring temporarily. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a complaint was filed. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 86,000.

Nov 2023 POWER TRAIN Severe jerking, hesitation and jerking when starting acceleration up to 35/40mph. Already had faulty EGR cooler replaced one month ago. Nov 2023 POWER TRAIN The torque converter is failing and in one incident failed to provide power when accelerating. This created a safety risk as I was nearly rear ended when merging into a highway and lost the ability to accelerate. The torque converter has deteriorated and now caused the need to replace the transmission as well. I took the vehicle to a FORD dealer and they confirmed the torque converer has failed. They did not further inspect the transmission at that time. I have now taken it to an independant repair center and they inspected the transmission as well and found black transmission fluid due to metal shaving from the torque converter. This vehicle is 400 miles out of warranty and purchased as a certified pre owned from a ford dealer May 2023. Our mechanic has mentioned that this is a known issue for this vehicle. Up until this incedent there was no warning of any problems. I had noticed the car was shifting weird and shuddering slightly. When I discussed this with the local ford dealer, they explained that it was supposed to shift like that due to the type of transmission it had. Since then the car is barely drivable - scheduled for repair by my independent repair center 11/20.

Oct 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,BACK OVER PREVENTION The rear view camera on my 2020 Ford Edge works intermittently. I found recall "NHTSA ID21V011000" and called Ford, but they say this does not apply to my vehicle. The symptoms described in the recall are the same as I am experiencing. This is definitely a safety issue and I am asking that this recall be extended to include my vehicle.

Sep 2023 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE I have a 2020 Ford Edge SEL and out of nowhere on 09-08-2023 smoke was pouring out of the exhaust and the car was misfiring. I looked further into it and it seemed to be the coolant was leaking down into the cylinder and causing it to burn through the exhaust making it very difficult to breathe. I sat in the car at a drive through for a couple minutes and it was unbearable to breathe. The car is stalling out while accelerating and could be very dangerous depending on where it stalls.

Aug 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I was at a stop light and attempting to go when it turned green. It was like the gas pedal wasn't communicating with the car. I had no acceleration for a few seconds and then it was kind of trying to go and it would lose it again. It corrected itself finally, but if that happens when I'm trying turn and a car is coming, that would be extremely dangerous. It has happened a couple times in the past. The first time it happened the powertrain malfunction indicator light came on. At that time, I pulled over and turned the car off for a bit and it corrected itself.

Jun 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,BACK OVER PREVENTION Rearview camera displays black distorted image. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The sensors do not appear to work as designed, which coupled with the distorted image allows for accidental backing if not careful. The problem has been acknowledged by FORD via recalls on other model years, but not the 2020. Manufacturer will inspect for a fee. Police and insurance have not been involved as there has been no accident with my vehicle. No warning signs or lamps illuminated to advise of this problem at any time. The camera first started displaying the distorted image last week, 15 June 2023.

Jun 2023 POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER Purchased 5-25-23 from Chevy dealer with 70,000 miles on odometer. When putting car in drive to about 35 mph the car jerks then it seems to run smoother at higher speeds. Is it some sort of adaptive transmission issue or could it be something else? How do I find out without spending an arm and a leg after putting a great investment in purchasing this vehicle already? Any advice?
