| Dec 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While our vehicle hasnt been in an accident yet, the issue could possibly lead into one. Our vehicle is having transmission problems. Ford knows there is an issue with the trans. I have called them an spoke to someone but i forget his name. The issue is the computer needs flashed and updated with new shifting points. At low speeds or if your barely on the gas, the trans bucks, sputters and has issues driving smooth. Our vehicle only has 85k miles on it, the issue started about 5k miles ago. I have asked the people of reddit on the issue. Many people responded saying they have gotten theres fixed or the trans goes out. Seems like its a very expensive (to me) fix and i feel as though that since it is a known issue that Ford should be the one paying to flash and update shift points on there products. Its bad enough we pay an avg of 600 a month for our vehicles. Now why cant they make it rite and fix a known issue. I dont know if you guys can help push the issue and see about getting this taken care of. All help is appreciated. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Nov 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I purchase this vehicle last year and its facing transmission problems already. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS | Ford designed the vehicle with soy based insulation on the wires in the wiring harness, this attracts rodents which eat away at the wiring harness. Ford is aware of this but refuses to compensate or repair the damage. When the harness is compromised the tail lights, passenger airbag, passenger seatbelt and cross traffic warning indicators do not work. This presents multiple safety issues. The vehicle has been diagnosed by ford stating the damage was caused by rodents entering the passenger compartment through the outside vent of the heating system. My vehicle has been repaired three times for the same issue. Ford has refused to warrantee any damage and has tld me to turn it in to my insurance which I had done. this has caused my insurance premium to increase due to the claim. I have all the documentation from the occurrences and the transcript of my conversation with Ford customer service. I want at minimum the vehicle fixed or replaced at Fords expense. Previously Ford had spoken with my insurance company and told them the harness needed to be spliced, they did not replace the entire harness this caused the rodents to return and damage more of the harness.. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | SEAT BELTS | Passenger seat harness locks up with no sudden breaking or any collision. Have to unbuckle, let it retract, then pull back over passenger. Bought used with approximately 14,000 miles on it. If there should be an accident, passenger may be pinned. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Front camera malfunction, not available. I’ve tried to reset by disconnecting the battery for over an hour. Will not reset. Every time I start my vehicle I get the warning. Cleaned the windshield and that has not helped. I have 25,000 miles on my 2020 Ford Edge. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2024 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving in third gear, the transmission was skipping and the vehicle shuddered. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the torque converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty due to the mileage. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,200. | Crash: No Fire: No | 60,200 |
| Nov 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Rear Drive Unit/Differential has failed. This is the second time in 4 years that it has failed leading to drivetrain issues to the rear wheels. I'm not sure how significant an incident would be if the Rear Power Transfer Unit fails while drive at highway speeds. Ford has released Technical Service Bulletins for the problem, so they are aware that there is an ongoing issue. Yet is is the owners responsibility to make the repairs. I have attached a copy of the receipt from the first repair. The vehicle is currently at the same dealership for the same issue. This time, the dealer claims I need to replace the entire Rear Drive Unit at my expense. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Power Train has failed multiple times on this vehicle. It loses power on the highway, reverses when in drive, and does not shift down to make the vehicle slow to a safe speed. This puts me and others in danger because you can not predict that or when there will be a failure that hits a person or other car. This has been taken to a mechanic and confirmed as power train failure in a 4 year old, 100K mile car. Ford claims no recalls even though the same recall exists for other makes and models of the same kind with different VINS. Has thrown multiple codes. | Crash: No Fire: No | 112,590 |
| Oct 2024 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle sputtered abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the torque converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 86,000 |
| Oct 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The Forward Collision Warning system became inoperative because of a failed electronic module. The dealership indicated that the self test ipma code u3009-49 test diagnostic called for the ipma replacement and programing. The failure of this component endangers pedestrians, other vehicles and passengers by failing to stop the vehicle when an imminent collision is about to occur. Given the 63,000 kilometres of this vehicle when the module failed, its expected life of 250,000 kilometres, the cost of replacing this component during its life, at more than 20% of the purchase price of the vehicle, is ridiculously high. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN,AIR BAGS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that after the dealer overfilled the engine oil during an oil change, there was smoke coming from the rear end of the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the engine oil was changed a second time. The contact stated that after the dealer redid the oil change, the "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available" message displayed on the Ford App. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power while driving. The "Power Train Malfunction" message was displayed, and the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was then taken to Ken Garff Ford Ft. Collins (4809 S College Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80525); where the battery was replaced; however, the failure persisted. Ken Garff Ford Ft. Collins was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 30,000 |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN | 2020 Ford Edge is Surging/Bucking/Jerking when you first take off at low speeds of 20mph or less. This ongoing issue could cause an accident to happen by the vehicle not getting to proper speeds as it should. Took my 2020 Ford Edge to my local Ford Dealer and they Updated the Software to the Transmission per TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 8F35 Transmission. At first it seemed better, but the Surging/Bucking/Jerking quickly came back. Took my Edge back to the Ford Dealership once again but they didn't do anything literally scratching their heads wondering themselves what's up with these Edges transmission. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | STEERING,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Forward collision warning stopped working which in turn caused the cruise control to not work. Then the PSCM (power steering control module) just went out all at once. Was driving and it showed warning on the dash. I drove on and parked. When I went to start back, it started fine but couldn’t move steering wheel. I’m seeing this has been a problem with other owners and the same year model. Ford has done a recall on edge for years around 2020 but not that particular year. Gonna cost $2772.59 to fix at dealership. Always owned ford but very disappointed how this happened with very little warning at all. If it had locked up while I was driving it would have been a major accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | SUSPENSION | The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn, the rear end of the vehicle was jerking back and forth. | Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle was shaking and was losing motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal and the RPM raised to 3,000 RPM but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the check engine warning light and the "Wrench" symbol were illuminated. The contact pulled off the roadway and stopped. The contact stated that she was hearing an abnormal "clanking" sound underneath the vehicle. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and shifted into drive(D) and the vehicle made the abnormal clanking sound. The accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle was barely moving. The contact had the vehicle towed to the residence. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V011000 (Power Train). The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 75,000 |
| Sep 2024 | ENGINE | Head gasket blew at 87, 000. Had complete head gasket replaced. less than 2000 mile with the new head gasket engine blew. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission assembly lost ability to operate in reverse. This happened while attempting to reverse in a public area. I had enough turn radius to get around an obstruction and drive home. While driving home, the vehicle shuttered under acceleration. There were intermittent delays in acceleration also. The vehicle would not reverse out of driveway the next day. Reverse camera engaged, but no movement. The vehicle the illuminated a message of “SHIFT SYS FAULT. Service Required”. I had the vehicle towed to a repair facility for inspection. The Master ASE certified technician found that the fluid smelled burned, but there was not excessive metal shavings in fluid. He determined that the transmission had an internal failure and recommended replacement of transmission. This transmission has 123,000 miles on it. Transmission fluid was manually drained and filled at 119,500 with the manufacturer’s recommended “MOTORCRAFT MERCON ULV AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID #XT12QULV”. I am having the transmission replaced at a cost of $5000. I have owned this vehicle since 108,000 miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | 123,000 |
| Aug 2024 | SEAT BELTS | The contact owns a 2020 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the front driver's side seat belt had failed to extend as needed. The contact stated that the seat belt required to be retracted and to be pulled continuously until it extended as needed. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 59,300. | Crash: No Fire: No | 59,300 |
| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN | The torque converter is slipping mostly during speed up in lower gears as a shuddering experience. Not safe to pass during these hick-ups due to the hesitations. I had it in at Apple Ford in White Bear Lake, MN. where they found it in the diagnostic performance. No warning lamps. It first started at around 67 or 68K miles. 70k miles on it now. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Ford created a terrible transmission and torque converter that has given countless people issuses including me. Unreliable Ford quality has created another vehicle that is not safe to drive without fear of losing power while driving. This vehicle feels like the transmission is going to break at any given time with 32000 miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
