Dec 2024 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Brake failure. I took the Truck to the dealer and was told not to drive it. The dealer ran two checks and then said brake failure. The rep had to leave, so another rep put my car in the shop overnight. The next day, I was told in writing that they could not find any problem. The code clearly showed brake failure. Date: [XXX]. Cost: $125.69. Mileage was 53,531. On [XXX], another brake failure. I went to an auto parts dealer (O Riley) in Topeka, KS, and they found a brake failure code(I have a copy). They told me to go to the dealer. I went to the dealer with a stiff pedal, which means driving is very unsafe. The dealer said too busy with oil changes and told me to return another day. Nov 2024 POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER My 2020 Chevy truck falls under the recall out right now. I drive my family around in it and feel a bit unsafe. How long does General motors have a remedy for this recall? And what are the next steps if a remedy isn’t made in the timeframe allowed? I’ve contacted General Motors and cannot get an answer. Thanks

Nov 2024 POWER TRAIN The truck is only three years old with 123,000 miles and the transmission needs to be replaced. I took the truck to Chevy and they said the transmission is bad and they need to replace it. GM and Chevy will NOT cover the cost to replace the transmission or help with any cost. This truck is fairly new and it's a lot that the transmission is already bad. Chevy quoted me $7,990 for new transmission with install.

Nov 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The 10 speed transmission suddenly downshifts when slowing down. It goes from like 8th to like 3rd suddenly and the rpm’s shoot way up. The wheels do not skid on pavement but will be an issue when the roads get slick here in West Virginia. This is a serious safety concern. This has happened many times since I purchased the truck. The dealer in the past has told me the transmission needs flushed. But now I’m seeing that there is a recall for new transmission software. I would like to have this update please before the roads get slick from snow and ice.

Nov 2024 STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The back window is leaking water into the cab. Water enters the cab any time it rains or when washing the truck. This water is creating a damp environment by soaking into the back of the seat, the carpet, and the headliner, creating the potential for black mold. Immediately after purchasing the truck, the dealership had me bring it back in so they could fix it. Ever since the repair from the dealership, the window has continued to leak at the same rate that it did before the fix.

Nov 2024 STRUCTURE Rear sliding plastic window frame cracks and allows water to seep into the cab. Hardware and metal brackets have rusted, electrical components may be at risk of shorting out. Mold and mildew can be smelled on warm days, which poses a health risk. Complete window has been replaced twice and original and replacements have all been resealed as a "repair" but has failed on all attempts. Headliner has been replaced once and is currently stained again due to another leak. No updated GM part exists to remedy the known issues.

Nov 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE On September 21, 2024 my Chevy 1500 series truck in the year was 2020. It was made caught on fire white driving it. We were returning from a trip pulling a trailer from Kentucky to Mansfield Ohio when we were on the highway. The transmission light/panel came across and said transmission need to engine idle. I drove it about 3 miles and pulled off on an exit at a gas station and did what it said after proximately 10 minutes. The message went off and cleared. we resume going home on our trip and we are 14 miles on the highway then we got off on our exit there’s no lights or no problems with the vehicle. I dropped off the first passenger and Lexington, Ohio, and then the second passenger lived about a half mile away , this time kept unloading their equipment. From Lexington to my home in Mansfield, Ohio the other passenger I was talking about the light transmission was weird and might’ve been just a sensor. As we pulled onto Home road all the panel lights started flashing and then a message came across and said engine is shutting down. I put in park off the engine, we exit the vehicle and smoke was coming out from underneath the truck. I reached into the center council to grab the cell phones and had faster call 911 and when I reached back into the truck were coming out from underneath the hood. I notified General Motors on September 23 and have been battling them to get an inspection done. after several months, they have finally agreed with insurance company on terms to investigate what caused the fire. That inspection is to Take Pl., December 4, 2024. I have recently just seen the recall article on GMC that came out on November 13. My truck is listed in the article as far as your make and model. This was a transmission problem that GM is trying to ignore and should be held accountable. Have video of when it caught on fire and how quickly it burned up.

Oct 2024 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE We went to an appointment and when we got back in the car, a message was on the screen. It said that the brake system has failed and we could only drive 43 mph maximum! The engine light was on and we could not accelerate beyond 43 mph. This is extremely dangerous when driving on a highway! We drove home on the interstate going 43 mph in a 70 mph zone! We had small children in the car and almost got into a few accidents due to other aggressive drivers. We then called local dealers who said that they were too busy to take our truck for weeks! They also said that our truck was not covered under warranty. So we took it to a local body shop. They fixed it for just above $500. It worked for a week and broke again, then they fixed it again for free. The brake failure 43 mph light came on for the 3rd time. We took it Garber and they fixed it after 2 weeks and charged us a fortune. Invoice attached. A few weeks later the same light came back on. Garber then took another 2 weeks to fix it! I’m writing here as I’ve seen other silverados recalled for the same issue but not my exact truck (year). It’s obviously faulty software and it should not be the customers responsibility to fix. Especially with a vehicle under 20k miles! There is absolutely no way that we will ever buy a GM again but the important part here is that other people are not put into a dangerous situation like we were. Besides dealing with this issue for well over a month - the important part is safety. I can’t understand how these trucks have the same problems but only certain VINs qualify for a recall. Please consider our truck as part of the overall recall for this issue. It’s unethical to pick and choose only certain VINs!

The contact stated that while activating the rear window defroster, there was a crackling and sizzling electrical sound coming from the lower section of the windshield were the electrical components were located. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were contacted but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 49,000.

Oct 2024 STEERING,SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN I'm not sure what to call most of this but my truck has been vibrating when getting up to about 50 mph. When putting in gear it shows you put it in the gear wanted put doesn't register sometimes and perks you and clicks. The entire front end grinds, pops and clicks when turning forward or backwards. When doing the steering wheel will get stuck and want turn for a split second in turn causing steering To be misaligned causing you to basically steer the wheel in an unnatural position until you stop put it in park then proceed to drive again. I have had these issues since we bought the vehicle brand new. We have to get an alignment and balance rotation like every 6 months for it to only help for a about a month to not be as bad.

Oct 2024 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE The truck caught on fire while I was returning from a trip out of state and then it appears it came from underneath either the transmission the engine or electrical. While returning home a message came on the panel on the highway, saying transmission, hot idle run I pulled off and did this and after about 15 minutes, the message light went off and I pursued Coming home nothing was wrong with the truck. After I dropped off to the passengers, I was on the way home and turned on home road and the message came on that says truck powering down all the lights came on the dashboard. I put the truck in park and shut the engine off had a manly open the doors and got out and smoke was rolling from underneath the truck. I grabbed the cell phones and told my passenger to call 911. I went back into the center of the cab to grab something out of the center council and flames came from underneath the hood up the glass of the windshield right in the middle of the truck. Backed away I called 911 again. Troy fire department responded in about six minutes. The truck was engulfed and gone. Ohio state patrol give me a claim number of [XXX] the instant [XXX]. There has been no problem with the truck or vehicle during the time I owned it. It was regularly service. It had 109667 miles on it. The truck was a 2020 Silverado from Bill Harris Ashland. Sep 2024 POWER TRAIN Rear end went out within drivetrain warranty period. Chevy claimed it was due to a leak even though there was no evidence of one and they couldn’t produce the part. Almost immediately after getting it back it started to have transmission problems (8L90). They again claimed there wasn’t a problem. The truck now has 120,000 miles on it and we are replacing the transmission after it would drop gears and, finally, wouldn’t go into reverse.

Sep 2024 SUSPENSION I was driving the vehicle but it sounded like it was popping when I would turn and when I shifted gears. As a result, my brakes were not working and I almost hit another vehicle. I took it to the dealership where they claimed they fixed the issue. When I picked it up this past Saturday, within a block of the dealership, the truck began shaking and a rattling noise could be heard. I had to take the truck back to the dealership. The truck is at the dealership where it is supposed to be inspected again and hopefully properly fixed.
