| Aug 2022 | SEAT BELTS,BACK OVER PREVENTION | Rear seatbelt alarms go off when there are no occupants in the rear. Sometimes when backing up the screen freezes and back up camera is not usable. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | POWER TRAIN | My Toyota Camry LE with the 8speed at times will jump in and out of gear, and it has really bad reacceleration lag. This lag in acceleration has at times almost caused accidents while merging onto the interstate and while pulling out into traffic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | POWER TRAIN | My issue is with acceleration of the car from the start and sometimes driving at lower speeds. There's a significant lag when you step on the acceleration and then it just gets activated and car starts accelerating rapidly. It seems that the transmission can't keep up with the accelerator. Also there's a vibration coming from transmission between speeds of 40-50 mph, in general I want to say that it runs a bit rough. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | The vehicle is a 2019 Toyota Camry XSE V6. It currently has 27,000 miles on it. On May 2, 2022 while crossing a busy 4 way intersection (35 mph) the car began to stall. The engine started to shake, impacting the ability to steer the car, the vehicle would not accelerate and nearly all of the dashboard lights turned on. It was taken to the dealership on May 3rd where a mechanic said a rock may have hit a sensor underneath the vehicle but that everything was fine. On May 4th while driving on the highway the same thing happened again. This time going around 65 mph. It was brought back to the dealership where they said it was a faulty ignition coil but that there were no OEM parts available and it was backordered with no ETA o repair. They advised to leave the vehicle as it was unsafe to drive. I asked why they didn't make me aware of it when it was brought in the day before and that they needed to fix it. I called Toyota Corporate and about an hour later the dealership let me know they would repair it with an aftermarket part. They commented that ignition coils normally do not go out in vehicles under 100K but it has been seen frequently on the 2019 Camry XSE V6 by the technicians. On May 6th the dealership claimed the vehicle was repaired. Driving back from the dealership on a local road (40mph) the same thing happened again. Dashboard lights turning on. Engine shaking the steering wheel. Car unable to accelerate. It was then taken back to the dealership again the same day. The dealership claimed to repair 2 ignition coils and that it should be fine. On May 11th the vehicle stalled again while driving on local roads (about 30 mph). It was again taken to the dealer where they claimed all 6 coils needed to be replaced at cost. I refused and claimed they needed to repair and left. On June 10th while driving on the highway (70mph) the same thing happened again. It was taken to another dealership. 3 coils replaced on 6/25. On 6/29 the same thing happened again | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES | 4 days ago, after driving about an hour, I got an alert that said low braking power. This was after I had tuned my vehicle off to go into convenience store for a few minutes, then went through drive thru and got back in the road when it first alerted me. I took a picture of the alerts that popped up. I immediately changed direction and drove less than 10 miles to Tuscaloosa Toyota. They found no fault codes. I drove the car the next day with no alerts. 3rd day, it popped on and back off a few times. Today it came on after about an hour, this time while I was applying brakes, then would disappear. They diagnosed the issue and informed me of the below needed repair… Brake - Hydraulic Brake Booster Pump: BRAKE BOOSTER NO HOLDING VACUUM $1,274.73 I am aware that there were some recalls associated with this for my year model that did not involve my VIN. Hoping to get more information on the recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The factory glass center display console, in my 2019 Toyota Camry XSE, which contains a touchscreen radio and built-in HVAC controls, suddenly cracked in multiple locations. Small shards of glass are protruding from some of the cracked areas. Multiple owners have experienced this same phenomenon as highlighted in the attached link to a Toyota owner forum. A call to Toyota Care and trips to (2) Toyota dealers has resulted in the same experience; they stated to be unaware of a product defect that would cause this type of failure, and suggested that the cracked glass was the result of impact damage. That is not the case...the screen suddenly failed by itself. Obviously, the broken glass creates a safety concern for use of the touchscreen, and it's plausible that pieces of the screen could dislodge and become projectiles in the event of an accident. Please consider this failure for a product safety recall, covered by Toyota. https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/touch-screen-cracked.1397290/ | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2022 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I brought my car in for the safety recall, and have been experiencing a failed fuel gauge recently. Whenever I fill my gas tank, the gas gauge has trouble going down when I drive. Because of this, I have to keep track of how many miles I drive so that I don't risk driving on an empty tank. I also have been experiencing vehicle stalls when I drive. I brought my car to a local Toyota shop to run a diagnosis and it has been reported that I have a failed "recalibration" and need to replace the fuel gauge. My vehicle does not show any warning lights/signs. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2022 | STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | I’m having problems with accelerating and jerking. I bought the car about 2 months ago and had to take it back to the dealer for jerking. They changed the tires and it helped with the jerk, but it still vibrates when it turns on. It also very slow when I accelerate. It can be dangerous when I’m turning in a intersection or freeway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2022 | POWER TRAIN | I recently purchased a 2019 Camry LE with 18k miles, I’ve noticed many instances of poor acceleration, struggling to find gears, very jerky shifting when coasting and re accelerating. I was attempting to pass a vehicle on a 2-way highway on which I had more than enough time and distance to pass, but as I merged to pass the transmission felt like it didn’t know what gear to be in and I could not accelerate and I had to slam on my brakes and quickly jump back into my original lane to avoid being hit by a super duty pickup. Had a service advisor tell me it’s a common issue with these transmission and they pointed to a couple other models with the same issues only to then be told by someone else that it’s a “characteristic” of the transmission, this is a major safety concern. Under no circumstances should a problem that almost got me killed be called a “characteristic”, this is a serious issue that I wish I was told about when purchasing my car. Extremely disappointed, I’m too scared to drive this car because of a close call I had within 150 miles of my purchase. Something needs to be done, as I’ve noticed many other similar complaints that almost got other people hurt or killed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle was running rough. While adding air to the tires, he noticed that the tires were bald and the tread was low. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where they informed him that the tread was at 4/23. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed about a partial discount. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 25,000 |
| Mar 2022 | ENGINE | I marked engine on the above as I did Not see anything about gas pedal acceleration. At a slow speed turning a sharp right to enter a drive through restaurant, I had my right foot on the brake. The car suddenly accelerated on its own, causing me to jump a curb & lose control. I landed between the restaurant building & drive through, taking out the signs & drive through. It was sudden & a nightmare. Busted both front tires & We had to get a flatbed truck to remove. Some employees there remarked that I missed a pole by a few inches. They helped me out of the car, taking me inside the restaurant. I was crying & very emotional, but explained what happened. I phoned my husband immediately & he came. I didn’t hit another car or hurt anybody. I was stoved up & shook up, but otherwise ok. I did get a back X-ray later because of pain, but thankfully no compressed fracture. The police was called & took my registration & helped get a tow truck. I explained what happened. My husband asked that it be taken to the a Toyota dealership, but it was not as they do not have a repair shop there. The car is in a local shop for repair that the adjuster recommended. Have not received the first part for it as yet. Insurance adjuster says $8500 in damage by phone, but we do not have a copy of this appraisal as yet. We will need to take it to Toyota for testing as soon as repairs are done & driveable, but regardless, this is really what happened & I will be afraid to drive this car again. This is vey dangerous & I could have been killed or killed somebody. We bought our car new in Early 2019 & I really liked it. I’m posting this now because Toyota should want to know this information asap for the safety of their customers! | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | In JuneOf 2019 I got side swiped on the driver’s side beginning at the driver’s door while driving; the airbags did not deploy. The matter was taken care of by mutual agreement between attorney and other drivers insurance company (AAA). On 03/02/22 I was attempting to renew registration when I was informed that I had to take vehicle to dealer due to a recall on make and model before new registration could be issued. In the evening of 03/02/22 I stopped at the dealer and explained to one of the service reps that I was there because of a recall and he stated that there was a problem with airbags deploying WHILE driving; but it was too late in the evening because they were getting ready to close and the issue would take 2-3 hours to inspect. The following morning prior to the service department opening I dropped the car off for service. However, the service invoice makes no mention of the airbag system inspection. Instead, the invoice is for a low pressure fuel pump issue. As for my safety being affected, I now understand why the attorney handling the insurance claim as well as AAA’s insurance adjuster on the matter both stated “that’s odd” when they asked me (at separate times) if the airbags had deployed and I answered “no”. Apparently, according to the service techs comment on the recall having to do with airbags, my safety was in danger at the time of the accident in 2019. But instead of showing that the issue was taken care of on the invoice, in less than 24 hours the problem went from airbags to a low pressure fuel pump. How was my safety put at risk? Being that the impact occurred at the driver’s door while I was driving and airbags failed to deploy, had I not veered to my right up the curb I could’ve suffered serious injury to the left side of my body, at least. Has the problem been reproduced? Unknown. Has the vehicle component been inspected? From techs statement on 03/02/22 and invoice on 03/03/22, UNKNOWN. No warnings of any kind. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 1 Medical attention | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Firstly I have experienced some weird behavior when accelerating from a stop and the vehicle quickly ramped up the rpm over 5k without shifting at all until correcting itself at the speed I was desiring. I wasn't stepping hard on the pedal at all and was just trying to get to 30 mph. Additionally I experienced some hard shifting when accelerating abruptly as well. Making the acceleration not very smooth when passing someone in high speed traffic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal would make abnormal sounds when depressed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the front rotors needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, an unknown warning message illuminated, indicating brake failure, and she heard abnormal sounds coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road, opened the hood, and noticed that the sounds were coming from the engine compartment. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer; Frontier Toyota Service & Parts (23621 Creekside Rd, Valencia, CA 91355) who informed her that they could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump and the front rotors needed to be replaced but the vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of the vacuum pump replacement since the repair was not covered under the vehicle warranty and the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 35,000 |
| Feb 2022 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle had previously been serviced by the dealer under an unknown NHTSA Campaign for the fuel pump. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 44,000 |
| Jan 2022 | ENGINE | I was driving the car and heard a noise coming from the front and the car started stalling. Then the car stopped completely and would not turn on anymore. | Dec 2021 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Consul screen keeps going blank. Software updated by the dealer, still happening. Approached the dealer today, they want to tale a screen shot when it happens. This may cause an accident. Per dealer this screen connects which almost all the electronics. Called Toyota about the same, they are saying dealer is the best to advise but screen shot while driving is not advisable. Reporting as this is seems to be safety issue. Dealer told me there is no guarantee this will be fixed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Nov 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I purchased my camera a few months back. My first complaint would be about the electrical system I assume. The automatic headlight feature does not work, it has caused my battery to die twice, when the driver door is open the interior lights don’t come on, and it will rarely start when using the key fob from inside to warm the vehicle. After purchasing I found out it had actually been wrecked & the carfax were not factual, assuming that could be a cause and not the actual vehicle being faulty. The main concern is that it sometimes doesn’t shift or struggles and will unexpectedly jerk into gear, then while cruising it seems to have some sort of lagging feel to it, also like a jerking feeling. I believe it may be a transmission issue but it feels very unsafe if you’re trying to maneuver in traffic when the vehicle isnt shifting properly almost causing another car to hit you | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
