Jul 2024 SUSPENSION Sometime in January of 2019, while living in Florida my Jeep had recall work done to make repairs related to the “death wobble” prevalent in 2018-2020 Jeeps. In 2020, after purchasing the vehicle, I experienced the death wobble. I then took my vehicle in to Orlando Chrysler, and was informed that when the recall repair was done, the part involved was installed backwards. The completed the necessary repair. I had not experienced the situation again until yesterday, when I picked up my Jeep from the Dodge dealership in Greenville, South Carolina, where Another recall was being dealt with. I returned to the dealership and was told in no uncertain terms they did nothing, and because there are no outstanding recalls on the vehicle related to the death wobble, they are under no obligation to do anything about it, including checking to see if the previously recalled parts that were replaced need replacing again. However, as it is occurring again my Jeep is once again unsafe to drive.

Jul 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER My Jeep just died in the middle of the on ramp to the freeway. We had to push it off to the side of the road. The lights all worked, the horn worked, the door locks worked and the radio worked. We tried jumping both batteries and it would not start and the dash would not come on at all. We had it towed to the dealership and they have had it for over 3 weeks and cannot find what is wrong with it. They thought it was the ECU but they said none of the modules are communicating in the vehicle. So they thought it may have a short so they started chasing wires. They still haven't found the culprit and my extended warranty is up in September. It only has 16,000 miles on it.

Jun 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER While driving my jeep wrangler went limped windshield wipers came on and every light on the dashboard was lit up . I couldn't brake or press the gas while driving on the highway with other cars. I had to coast to the side of the highway and just pushed to turn off and shift to park . Jeep was towed to the dealership the next available appointment , at the end of March . Wire harness wires were replaced and drove it 4 days and the same issue happened again while I was driving. I am very unhappy that I can't drive my jeep wrangler because I have babies that I worry the issue may happen again and we have a serious accident that would hurt all of us .

Jun 2024 STEERING,SUSPENSION While driving at interstate speed and passing over an irregular surface the jeep started to shimmy and I later found out it was called "Death Wobble". The jeep started to wonder across the lanes of the highway and I had to slow to 45 mph to stop the shimmy and get control of the vehicle, I assume the the problem is in the steering or the front suspension. After talking to a mechanic I found out that a recall has already been performed to replace the steering vibration damper. The mechanic could not find any loose or damaged front end parts upon inspection. Since the initial incident the shimmy has happened multiple times at slower and slower speeds. There was no prior warning by the jeep instrument panel.

Jun 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER My Jeep Wrangler's instrument cluster randomly shut down while driving. This means I couldn't see the electronic speedometer, odometer, or any other information on the dashboard. There weren't any warning lights before it failed. I had the dealer fix it, but Jeep wouldn't cover the entire cost of the repair, even though the dealer confirmed there was no water damage or external cause. It seems like the instrument cluster just malfunctioned and fried. This appears to be a recurring issue with Jeep Wranglers, and it's concerning that Jeep isn't taking responsibility for a problem that could be a safety hazard, especially when using features like adaptive cruise control that relies on the digital screen. Attached is the repair order and invoice detailing the problem. I also have a video of it mid-failure if you need it. This shouldn't happen with a vehicle at 46K miles, major safety concern.

May 2024 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train). The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle downshifted with abnormal roaring sound coming from the gear shifter. Additionally, the contact observed a burning odor. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch assembly was glazed needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure returned after two weeks. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,801.

May 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE So driving about 50-55mph, the dash lights lite up like a christmas tree. Everything from ABS, shifter lock, sway bar, airbags, traction control, aux battery and some other things that i can't remember. Engine lost power, power steering and unable to shift out of park. I took to my local dealer, I didn't buy it from them, and they diagnsoed the issue of a faulty ABS module. This module has been in the stage of "engineering" for over a year. I spent $900 on one ABS module that was available out of 5 in the US from another dealer and to get 20 minutes down the road only to have it happen again. The vehicle was at the dealer for 5 weeks. The new part was to become available on May20th. Two days ago the service manager called to tell me that they pushed the date to Aug 20th. This will be almost 2 years in this process with this part. The manager then proceeded to tell me it will probably be longer as Jeep went to a new vendor and it is redoing the part. I know of hundreds of other owners in the same boat. Jeep star techs say they can't diagnose past this part so I am paying on a big paper weight since November 23. I have started a case with Jeep customer care only for them to say they can't do anything financially or anything other than help expedite the issue. This is a lost cause as it is still being developed 2 years later. My GM of the dealership said he has 4-5 others at his lot in the same boat and a number of other owners with vehicles like myself at the house. I feel the need for someone to put pressure on the vendor to help with getting a recall on this situation.

The contact stated that upon having the vehicle repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train) and driving at an undisclosed speed, the service transmission warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose a failure and advised the contact to drive the vehicle for a few days and report back with any changes, but the warning light had remained illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 70,000.

May 2024 STEERING I was stopped waiting for traffic to clear to make a right turn into oncoming traffic. I started going to the nearest lane I had available . When I was half way into the turn, the power steering went out. I had to react fast as there was a vehicles coming and due to the power steering failing it caused me to merge slightly into the middle lane. Luckily the other vehicle that was going to crash me changed lanes. So I pulled over and turned off the jeep, turned it back on and it drove normal. I have taken it to multiple shops and they stated pcm is okay battery is okay but they cannot find what nearly put my 2 year old son in an accident.

Apr 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Loss of power on the highway, check engine light, battery light, PCM light, Service start/stop system light, stalling and shutting off when put into reverse. Code for MGU. It’s an etourqe Jeep Wrangler, no alternator and no aux battery. It’s been at a dealership since March 6th. They’ve replaced the MGU twice, which is a $15,000 part. They’ve replaced belts, belt tensioners, a crank shaft sensor and opened a star case and cannot remedy the issue. It still stalls and dies when put into reverse. Losing power and being unable to accelerate on the highway is exceedingly dangerous. The vehicle stalling and dying in any scenario is exceedingly dangerous. Not only to myself and the people in my vehicle but to others around me. The issue has been reproduced multiple times at the dealership and they cannot correct the problem.

Apr 2024 SEAT BELTS The seatbelt retractor did NOT work on my driver seatbelt. I almost got into an accident and the seatbelt never tightened across my chest. I hurt my wrist in the process by being pushed into my steering wheel. There is already a recall on this exact part for SOME Jeep Wranglers manufactured in 2019, but mine did not fall into the active recall. Clearly it should be.

Mar 2024 STEERING,POWER TRAIN,ENGINE It started about 4 months ago and continues to get worse and more frequent but it starts shaking and wobbling violently at high speeds especially if you hit a bump it’s almost impossible to keep it in the road. It’s very scary and dangerous. After googling I heard about the death wobble which Chrysler has recalled some of the same models as mine. Any information or help you could give us would be appreciated. It also just started overheating when sitting idle probably not related but don’t understand why mine is having so many problems it’s not old enough

Mar 2024 SUSPENSION The front suspension steering damper on my vehicle not effectively damp oscillation of the steering system, resulting in a sustained shake or shimmy in the steering wheel. Feb 2024 STEERING,SUSPENSION Had damper replaced due to death wobble at 39k miles under extended warranty related to FCA lawsuit. At 59k miles experienced same death wobble and nearly crashed at highway speeds. Took it in and they said the cause was the tie rods were bad, damper was within threshold, but would replace it too as a courtesy and abundance of caution. Wouldn’t do damper replacement without tie rod fix though. Didn’t have damper and would take 5 days to get in (1 day for tie rod part), but when I stated I wanted to repair it they miraculously came up with all the parts and had it finished before tie rod part even showed up. My complaint is that the original FCA lawsuit where they replaced damper was a bandaid for the real problem which is the tie rods. I paid the $2500 but will be pushing this up the chain of command. I know the lawsuit alluded to the damper not being the root of the problem but a cheaper fix for Jeep. The entire experience has been shady at best. Feb 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM While accelerating, vehicle refused to shift into second gear and losing power while attempting to accelerate onto the interstate. With the pedal all the way down, the vehicle was going 5mph. No warning lights, sounds or messages were provided. This could have been fatal as it occurred at a merge point on a 70mph interstate. Upon dealership review, the high pressure fuel pump has malfunctioned requiring replacement under 50,000 miles.
