Aug 2024 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE 5 emergency lights came on at the same time, we went to the Honda dealer and the problem is the front camera, they told us there, for the diagnosis it was $250 dollars and if we want to fix it it would be $1900, I think that Honda should cover that because it is a car with only 30,000 miles, it is a very expensive repair for a car that is not that old.

Aug 2024 FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop and attempting to drive, the accelerator pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard; however, the vehicle failed to respond. After several attempts at pumping the accelerator pedal, the vehicle abruptly accelerated. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The VIN was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 80,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Aug 2024 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE While driving the car brakes hard when it thinks that it is going to hit another car even though there is not another car around. We have almost been in multiple accidents because of it. When driving down a winding lane it often shakes the wheel although we are not departing lanes. We do not feel safe while driving the car with this safety feature

Aug 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Hello. My Honda odyssey has a major safety issue. Three times now the rear hatch has failed. When this happens an alarm goes off and the door locks shut. Then, randomly and shortly after, the rear hatch unlocks. There is nothing locking the door when this happens. Two out of the three times I have been driving the car when the rear hatch unlatched and one is the three times I have had my three children in the car. Thank god no one was hurt or killed. Because there is nothing stopping items from falling out of the car causing an accident while driving. I have now paid two have this fixed twice at 1k each occurs. Despite me having purchased a warranty this is according to Honda caused by “water damage”. Well all over the Internet and forums there are people complaining about this with a class action law suit being investigated. The water damage is caused by improper sealing and assembly causing corrosion and the electrical failure. And then the worst part is, the hatch sticks open and the door is unlocked and not latched while driving! I have reached out to Honda directly over and over siting this obvious safety risk and saying that someone is going to get killed and there needs to be a recall. Again I can not emphasize enough how unsafe this is. I do not feel safe driving my children in this car or driving the car for that matter because the rear hatch could open at any time. I am disappointed in the lack of response by Honda and the dealership. I have spent thousands of dollars on repairing this manufacturers defect. I hope that someone can help make this matter important before someone is hurt. Honda needs to be accountable for their issue.

Aug 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER It is very common problem with 2018-2023 honda odyssey. Water leaks inside from the seam crack under roof drip trim. This water is dripping right on the tailgate control electronic module. And module is short circuit and dead. Now tailgate is either stays locked or stays open all the time as the latch is not operating at all. This is safety issue as if tail gate is not latched properly it can be open while driving on the road. Also with water leaking inside in trunk area it's a issue with growing mold under the carpet. It shows error message on instrument panel about trouble with tailgate system.

Aug 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE My car experience a sudden and catastrophic failure of the multipurpose camera, part number HP36160-THR-A81. Many of the safety features of my car are dependent on this part, which given the age and low mileage of my vehicle has obviously failed prematurely. The safety features impacted on my vehicle by this part failure include ACC, LKAS, Collision Mitigation and Road Departure Mitigation Systems. I receive continuous warning lights and alarms while driving the vehicle related to these systems. These warning lights and alarms cannot be stopped. Without these systems working properly the vehicle is not safe. I was told that 8tbwpupd cost roughly $1600 to replace the part necessary for these systems to work.

Aug 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER My vehicle would say mitigation control system failure, and would flutter by turning off and back on and making the vehicle in operable for a few seconds while in motion. Also, would have a transmission gauge issue and would make the car inoperable, and wouldn’t move at all, would only turn on and would function like the radio, lights, etc.

Aug 2024 Chest Clip, Buckle, Harness The chest clip is opening without having to press down the buttons to release it. It is magnetic and I'm able to open it with my non-dominant hand. I am not sure exactly how the child's safety was put at risk, but I imagine it is not safe to have a chest clip that can undo easily. The seat has not been inspected.

Aug 2024 POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER While driving down the interstate going between 55-60 mph van began to downshift and rpm’s started rising but gas pedal didn’t accelerate. Then the next day I got stranded on a highway because the van locked into neutral before I could pull into a parking lot because of traffic, then it finally went into park(we were trying to get it back in drive obviously). I was stuck blocking traffic for almost an hour with 3 kids and an infant in the car. Finally, restarting it several times worked and i was able to pull in and wait for a tow truck. This almost happened on the interstate. Someone is going to be seriously injured or worse because we almost were. Honda I supposed to be known for safety but right now, I may just switch to Toyota because apparently this issue is known and they just don’t care enough about their customers to recall and fix it.

Aug 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The multipurpose camera in the front windshield has failed, causing the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and correction, forward collision to fail. Even the non-ACC cruise control is locked out due to the failed camera. Honda will charge ~ $1800 to replace, and I can’t afford that. Problem confirmed by Ian’s of Broken Arrow. They confirmed it was the camera and not the radar unit. The failure of the camera causes a host of persistent dashboard warnings, but none preceded the failure.

Aug 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM My 2019 Honda Odyssey has had issues with engine hesitation since purchase, but have worsened in the last year to the point that I am concerned I will be in an accident. When creeping forward at a lower speed (5-8mph) to make a turn, the engine hesitates for several seconds, delaying my ability to turn and causing me to then turn seconds before another car is approaching me. I am in a Honda facebook group and many people report similar issues without any fix. I have taken my car to the dealership and they do not see any issues. I recently had my fuel pump recall done (I basically had to beg the dealership to do it despite them telling me Honda is short on supplies), and the issue is still present. The issue is worse in colder weather. I drive with 3 kids in the backseat. This issue needs to be addressed.

Jul 2024 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Started the car one morning and instantly a bunch of warning messages appear on the dashboard stating; 1) Collision Mitigation System Problem 2) Lane Keeping Assist Problem 3) Road Departure Mitigation System Problem 4) Auto High Beam Problem 5) Auto Emergency Braking Problem. There is also a brake system light on now (amber color) due to the above. Never had an issue before now. This is on a honda odyssey 2019 EX with just over 35k miles. Took car to local mechanic who ran diagnostic report and found the following issue; "Integrated driver support/monocular camera driver support system issue; multi-purpose camera unit/millimeter wave radar internal electronic failure" Contacted the Honda dealership who want $1500 for a new device and programing; this is disgusting. This issue is so widespread its almost ready to be a full blown recall.

Jul 2024 SUSPENSION I took the van into Honda and they said the back 2 rear springs were broken. But the parts (springs) were on back order. I called dealers all over Ontario, New York and Virginia(because I have family in those states) and discovered that none of them had the part or that if they did they were not allowed to sell them because they had a line up of customers that needed them. One dealer, before I even gave the part number, stopped me and said your calling about the rear springs because they had so many inquiries. To me this sounds like there is an issue with the rear springs for Honda odyssey from the year 2018-2020 and that this should be a recalled item. No way is it a coincidence that there no springs available because of a random part shortage. It’s more likely it’s a poorly manufactured part and they are all breaking 5-7 years in to their life span. I believe this should be investigated as Honda probably knows the part is defective. This should be a part that is recalled and the cost of repair covered by Honda. Currently my odyssey can’t e driven for safety reasons until the parts (spring) comes in which could be month. I can give you the dealers I contacted and part number.

Jul 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The front facing camera located at the top of the windshield goes bad and affects multiple systems. The manufacturer is aware of this issue. While the part only costs $150 - the dealerships want to charge upwards of $2000 to replace the camera - they say that owners are not allowed to replace it themselves. You cannot disable the advanced features. This issue is extremely common across all Honda models that use this camera.

Jul 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The Monocular front window camera in 2018-2023 Honda's (odyssey, ridgline, pilot...) fails. This front window camera controls the following safety features: -Lane Keep Assist (LKAS) -Collision Mitigation -Adaptive Cruise control -Lane Departure Mitigation -Rain sensor windshield wipes -Auto High beam -Automatic Emergency Breaking In addition to compromising these safety features when the camera fails, false warnings are repeatedly provided on the dash of the Vehicle, sometimes in a singular and sometimes in a cyclic manner that you cannot get to shut off while driving. In addition to the cyclic visual warnings that cannot be turned off sometimes, the system repetitively beeps through the cycle of Erros/warnings. I thought I was the only one with this issue, but my research has revealed Hundreds of complaints over the last year.
