| Jul 2026 | AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS,SEATS | Vehicle: 2019 Honda Odyssey Issue: Unintended airbag deployment consistent with Honda Recall UNW (SRS Control Unit Calibration Defect) Incident Type: Safety defect – airbags deployed without collision Location & Date: Highway 131, outside of Kalamazoo, MI - travel – normal road conditions on July 6, 2026 Insurance Outcome: Denied due to manufacturer defect, will only cover minor wheel damage While driving my 2019 Honda Odyssey on the highway, the vehicle hit a pot hole in the main lane and multiple airbags deployed without any collision, impact, or hazardous event. The side, and curtain airbags all deployed simultaneously. These airbags also did not deflate making it very difficult to see and could have been extremely dangerous. There was no crash, no debris, and no external damage to the vehicle. The deployment was sudden, violent, and completely unexpected. The circumstances of this incident match the description of Honda Safety Recall UNW, which identifies a defect in the SRS control unit calibration that can cause airbags to deploy from normal road vibration, potholes, or bumps. My vehicle’s behavior aligns exactly with the recall conditions. I filed a claim with my insurance provider (Allstate), and they issued a denial because the airbag deployment was caused by a manufacturer defect, not a collision or comprehensive event. As a result, I am left with over $10,000 in airbag related repair costs, including replacement of the airbag modules, seat airbags, curtain airbags, SRS sensors, and interior trim damaged by the deployment. I contacted Honda to request reimbursement under the recall, but Honda has refused my claim and pushed me back to my insurance provider. The lack of response from Honda leaves me with significant financial damage caused directly by a known recall defect. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in compelling Honda to address this recall related failure, reimburse the repair costs and ensure proper handling of unintended airbag deployments | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When turning on my Honda Odyssey, the center console remained blank on ignition. When we went to reverse, the camera was not displayed. Even once the car was in drive, the center console remained blank. It would periodically begin to turn on once we started driving while turning off again with a disconnect notice throughout the drive. I have provided photo evidence of this issue. This is not the first time this has happened, and I have reported this issue with my vehicle previously. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Failure in the front multipurpose camera. None of the drivers assisted safety features work now. These include: adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane keep assistance, lame departure warming, and others. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | -Front multipurpose camera internal failure. Apparently this is a known cause which creates a "christmas tree" of warning lights: lane keeping assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, auto high beam problem, road departure mitigation system problem and collision mitigation assist problem. There is a class action lawsuit on this. - safety was at risk as I have 3 kids and I was worried that it was going to stall. I spent couple days going to the dealership and autozone trying to solve whether it was the battery, accelerator, or the camera and spent 125 dollars to assess the problem - problem has been reproduced my dealership. Just had it repaired - no other warning lights were present before this problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | I have 2019 Honda odyssey and my front windshield Camera shows multiple lights also nothing works there are shows 11 working lights also I go dealer and they toll me you have to replace your windshield Camera and it cost $2200 and not only me there are so many people facing that same problem plz give a recall for Honda Odyssey year 2018 2019 & 2020 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The starting and idle systems are faulty. The van will not start up again after parking. There is no pattern and no cause we have found. Sometimes it happens 3-4 times in a week and other times it happens once in a month. Sometimes after stopping at a stop light or stop sign, the van will not respond to the gas pedal and will simply idle into an intersection which has almost caused several accidents. We have not had it inspected at a dealership because we cannot afford it. There have not been any warning lights or symptoms prior to these failures. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | SUSPENSION | I am reporting a safety concern involving the rear shock absorbers on my 2019 Honda Odyssey Elite. At 60,852 miles, the rear shocks failed and caused a significant vehicle handling problem. While driving on the highway at speeds of 65–70 mph, the vehicle would experience sudden steering jerks when hitting bumps in the road. The steering wheel would twitch unexpectedly, and the vehicle would momentarily move to the left or right, creating a loss of stability and reducing driver confidence and control. This condition was especially concerning at highway speeds because it created the feeling that the vehicle could unexpectedly change direction when encountering road imperfections. I believe this presented a safety risk to myself, my passengers, and other motorists. The vehicle was inspected and repaired on XXX, at Matthews Honda in [XXX]. The rear shocks were found to be blown and required replacement. The rear shocks were replaced the same day. After the repair, the steering jerking and instability immediately stopped, confirming that the failed rear shocks were the cause of the problem. Matthews Honda has performed the routine maintenance on this vehicle throughout my ownership. The vehicle has been regularly serviced and maintained in accordance with recommended maintenance schedules. The vehicle was serviced at Matthews Honda in March 2026. As part of that visit, I received a multipoint vehicle inspection report. The inspection checklist showed a green check mark for Shock Absorbers/Struts, Suspension, Tie Rod Ends and Boots, and Steering Gear and Dust Seal, indicating that no issues were identified in those areas at that time. Approximately four months later, on XXX, at 60,852 miles, the rear shocks were found to be blown and required replacement due to the handling and steering stability issues described in this report. During my visit for this repair, I was informed by service department personnel that they had been seeing an in INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION | We started having electrical problems, camera does not work, radio does not work. Took it into Honda dealership and said nothing was working because we needed to replace the fuel pump and a bunch of other things for almost $3000. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Since purchasing the van, have reported intermittent hesitation to dealerships. Never duplicated at dealership. Eventually, fuel pump replaced under recall. Still had intermittent issues. On June 11,2026, while on the highway, van had slight hesitation and codes started going on dashboard. Got off the highway and the van limped into a nearby Home Depot parking lot. Had it towed to Hill Country Honda where they diagnosed a bad MAP sensor. When told it was ready for pick up, informed that the wiring harness was pinched. The technician stated that he had straightened the wiring and when I inquired about it, told that particular wire had to be cut out and replaced. Informed that I would likely have further issues with van and recommendation was to replace the whole wiring harness. I asked how it was pinched and told that it was probably done at assembly point and not noticed since it was under other components. I called Honda Cares as recommended to see if they could do anything for the van but Honda said the van was not under warranty so no assistance was provided. The van has 74,000 miles and always maintained by dealerships. Honda Cares said outside influence was the reason nothing could be offered. I believe that Honda is responsible for this situation and I have known 3 different 2019 owners who shared hesitation issues as new owners. Rear speakers are playing very low and told it might also be affected by wiring harness but I don’t think I should spend $4500.00+ to fix this problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | As I was driving the other night, the entire dashboard/odometer/screen/etc went black and displayed a “network connection lost” error. In researching this, I discovered there is a safety recall for the MOST Bus connection for certain 2018-2022 Odysseys. My VIN number is not included in the recall, but I am writing to you to see if the recall should include other VIN numbers as this is a serious safety issue and not something that would have been caused by me since the MOST system is located behind the dashboard, and I was simply just driving home. I called my local Honda dealership who said they would charge me $220 just to diagnose the issue. I have told them what the issue is and that what I experienced is same as listed in the current recall, but my VIN number is not included in that recall and suggested that they should report this to Honda so Honda can extend the recall to include other VINs within those specified years. Please encourage Honda to include other VINs in this current recall as this is a safety issue caused by a faulty Honda part. Thank you so much. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS,SERVICE BRAKES | Florida Miss firing lights on | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | ENGINE | My 2019 Honda Odyssey stalled at a red light, then had an extended crank/no-start. It later hesitated and almost stalled while driving around 40 mph, and stalled again when I got home. The dash showed Emissions System Problem along with VSA, EPS, Brake System, Brake Hold, Hill Start Assist, and Road Departure warnings. Please check open recalls, especially the fuel pump recall, scan all stored and pending codes, test battery and alternator, and check fuel pressure and fuel pressure leak-down. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Collision mitigation system problem, auto high beam problem , lane keep assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, road departure mitigation problem. All of these lights came on at the same time then a transmission problem light came on. Was told by a mechanic that Honda has an issue with a lot of these because of where it sits directly in the sun. All of these problems seem to be connected. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The front camera failed and made all driver assist, automatic braking, lane departure and collision warnings to fail. The cost of a new camera and calibrations is $2000. This critical piece of safety should not fail so soon or be that expensive to replace. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Automatic sliding door on the driver's side has a rear latch that will not hold the door closed. Currently being fixed at dealer. There was a recall for this model and year for this problem, however my VIN number is not included in the recall | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | SERVICE BRAKES | The incident is that the rear brakes keep wearing much faster than the front. New brake pads do not last after only less then 10,000 miles of driving. Dealership and mechanic expect that there is a caliber issue with the 2019 model that is causing the rear brakes to wear too fast. Manufacturer should remedy this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE | Water entered rear panel causing tailgate control module to get wet and stop working. This caused my tailgate to have no power and unable to close due to the latch being stuck in a closed position. Door was open unable to latch closed while I had to drive the vehicle to a mechanic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | The camera for collision, cruise control, lane assistance and etc stopped working. Over $2000 to replace and not covered under warranty | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | For the past 6 months the vehicle shows warnings regarding lane keeping assistance problems, cruise problems, braking problems,. The warning can show up in the middle of driving, or right at start. Sometimes they go away while driving. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | SUSPENSION | Rear passenger suspension failed. Was driving car when I bumped a rut in the road causing failure. No prior warnings prior to incident. Took car to mechanic and the suspension was rusted and nearly snapped in half. Car has received regular maintenance and no issues with suspension had been observed prior. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | SUSPENSION | The rear suspension coil spring on my vehicle fractured and failed. The failure was diagnosed and confirmed by a Honda dealership. The broken spring remains available for inspection upon request. The failure creates a significant safety concern because the vehicle's ride height, handling, and suspension performance are compromised. A broken coil spring can shift position, contact the tire, damage suspension components, and potentially affect vehicle control. The dealership advised that the spring requires replacement. The condition was confirmed by a Honda dealer during inspection. I was informed that replacement OEM springs are on national backorder and are currently unavailable. As a result, the vehicle cannot be repaired with the factory part in a reasonable timeframe. The vehicle has been inspected by a Honda dealership. No accident, collision, or unusual road hazard preceded the failure. Prior to diagnosis, I noticed abnormal suspension noises from the rear of the vehicle, including clunking/creaking sounds while driving over bumps at low speeds. No dashboard warning lights or warning messages were displayed because the suspension system is not monitored by a warning lamp. I am concerned that this may be a broader defect because other Honda Odyssey owners have reported similar rear spring failures, and the replacement parts are difficult to obtain. The combination of a safety-related suspension failure and lack of available replacement parts has left the vehicle unable to be repaired promptly. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | Warnings Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assistance, Collision Warning Systems, Brake System showed up while driving the vehicle, upon further search it was found there is a common issue with Honda Odyssey's multipurpose camera, and the dealer is charging 2000$ to fix it. This is a common problem in all the Honda Odyssey. I request NHTSA to look further into this issue and perform a recall or a free of charge installation. The official Honda Odyssey Forum online has countless complaints on the same issue without resolution by Honda. Honda has acted in bad-faith towards their customers since this defect impacts the vehicle's advanced safety features for which buyers incur additional expenses, endangering the lives of passengers. Honda designed a system that requires continuous and substantial expenditures without resolution because it is an engineering problem, i.e., the placement of the radar behind the large, thick plastic H emblem obstructs the radar. I hereby ask that the NHTSA investigate this issue and order Honda to offer a solution in the form of a RECALL that permanent addresses the problem | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My safety and families safety is exposed to gas smell leaking inside the vehicle when driving and do/did not have a way to escape the smell inside the vehicle. My children range from infant-teenage and for them to smell a toxic smell can impact their lives and safety | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | STEERING,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | BELIEVE CAMERA SENSOR IN WINDSHIELD OR BEHIND HONDA EMBLEM CAUSING ISSUES WITH 2019 EX-L MODEL/ CAR WILL POP UP 8 DIFFERENT CODES ENDING WITH "TRANSMISSION SYSTEM PROBLEM" MAKING VEHICLE UNABLE TO OPERATE. IN ADDITION TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, IT ALSO TURNS OFF ALL SAFETY FEATURES IN VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AS WELL. CAN WE PLEASE GET THIS RECALLED AND FIXED?? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
