| Oct 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving about 35 mph on a flat road, sunny day approximately 75 degrees with no vehicles, bikes or people around me and my emergency braking system went off for no reason, throwing the car into a hard brake. My purse and work bag went flying. Thankfully, there weren’t any cars behind me or I definitely would have been rear-ended. It was a terrifying experience and I will be reporting this to my Honda dealership tomorrow. This happened one other time in a road construction detour. The car hard braked when changing lanes per the detour. These “safety” systems are not safe. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, since parts were not yet available, the contact waited several months before having the recall serviced at the dealer. After the recall was performed, the contact stated that the vehicle would fail to start up after multiple attempts with an abnormal grinding sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 23,939. | Crash: No Fire: No | 23,939 |
| Oct 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On 9/6 I turned left into a parking lot. I was not exceeding 20 mph. I slowed to go over a speed bump, took my foot off the gas to brake and before I actually pressed the brake petal the automatic braking feature activated. There were no cars in front of me or any road hazard. The same thing happened again on 10/9 but this time I was in traffic. After completing a left turn I slowed to go over a construction steel plate in the road. Again no cars in front of me, or any other hazard, but before I got my foot to the brake petal the braking system engaged. Because I was in traffic this time I barely missed being rear ended. I took it to the dealer, DCH Honda in San Diego on 10/12/21. They could not find an issue with the CMBC system and could not duplicate by a road test so they told me to keep driving it until it happens again and to bring it back if it does. Needless to say I don’t feel safe while driving it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The emergency braking engaged for no apparent reason while I was driving about 35 mph and at least a car length behind car in front of me. The car slammed on the brakes in moving traffic for no apparent reason. Fortunately the car behind me was able to stop but this could have easily caused a rear end collision. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact made several attempts to reach out to the local dealer to schedule the recall repair but was not successful. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Yesterday I was traveling about 40 mph on two-lane highway coming to the crest of a hill when suddenly the "BRAKE" warning light from the Collision Mitigation Braking System came on followed immediately by the car quickly coming to a stop. The whole warning/stopping event occurred in a few seconds. There were no obstacles in the road, it was a clear, sunny day and (I later determined that) there was no debris or dirt on the grill or in front of the forward camera. There was a car following me about 2 or 3 car lengths behind who had to stop very quickly in order not to rear-end me. Checking my vehicle settings I noted that the "distance" setting for the CMBS was set to normal (not short or long). I have not yet had the issue looked into and will do so ASAP. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER | My 2019 Honda CR-V just had it's rear glass exploded all of a sudden. It was a 85F degree day and condition seemed normal and nothing out of the ordinary. The rear window left and right sides had a huge fault crack all along the edges. The middle of the windshield popped a hole and then upon lifting the trunk because I was unaware of the glass, the hole increased in size and chunks of glass just rained everywhere. Honda claims an object struck the glass, but that would mean the main damage would concentrate around that area. Judging from the damage to the left and right edges, it would indicate the glass internally failed all together. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2021 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact called the dealer on three separate occasions and was informed each time that a service manager would call him back however, he never received a callback or an appointment. The manufacturer was also notified of the matter and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had not experienced a failure. Part distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | SEAT BELTS | I want to report an unsafe situation regarding the rear seat, seat-belt latches on the 2019 Honda CR-V (and from what I can tell on the internet, for several other model years). The rear seat center and left side seat-belt latch receivers have been installed incorrectly. The setup causes the left side latch to be installed over top of the anchor portion of the middle seat latch. This results in the need to twist one or both belts in order to latch the belts. This setup results in a potentially unsafe situation when seating three passengers in the rear seat. Honda advertises the CR-V as a 5 passenger vehicle, not a 4 passenger vehicle! Btw, I used the date I purchased the vehicle as the "incident" date. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While cruise control on, car slams on it's brakes for no reason. So it will go from 55 mph to 15 mph without warning. Clear roads, no other cars on right, left, front, behind me. This has happened many times. I have gone to two dealerships: 1-29-21, 6-27-19, etc. They had it overnight & couldn't find anything. I read online, this has happened to others. I have talked to a service tech. manager who admitted the ACC system doesn't always work. I have 3 typed pages of issues with this CRV. Case #12036468 issued, but no one in customer service will call me back (800)999-1009. After I wrote a letter to their headquarters, they promised to call within 2 days. No one did, even after I sent them an email. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact had received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer was contacted and informed her that the parts were unavailable and that parts would be available later that month. The contact called back the same dealer three weeks later and was informed that they were only receiving a limited supply of parts and could not service her vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving on an unobstructed road with no cars/ obstructions in sight and my automatic emergency braking suddenly engaged then released. Had there been Other vehicles/ traffic an accident may have occurred. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2021 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | There is a recall for my fuel pump for this car. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Automatic Emergency Braking system activated as I was accelerating away from a stoplight. Turning off of a side road onto a 4 lane thoroughfare. Upon turning onto the main road, I accelerated through an intersection with a green light. As I crossed two steel construction plates, straddled with the vehicle, the AEB system activated and brought the vehicle to a full and complete stop in traffic while I was on the accelerator pedal. Dash announcement flashed "BRAKE" and vehicle came to a stop. I was not following any other vehicles. I was accelerating. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2021 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The car was running perfectly fine we were going to load some things into the trunk my wife was backing up and the car began to shake. All the sensors were in error: power steering, brakes system, high beams, tire pressure, tpms, engine light and some other sensor. The emergency brake was activated and we were unable to remove it, the brake light was flashing on the dashboard. The vehicle turned off and wouldn’t turn on. The vehicle had its battery checked and was fine. The vehicle has been taken to a Honda Dealership for diagnostic testing. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The engine lid cover is faulty and fell while driving on an extremely hot day. The clips are plastic and fail easily. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Overview: On July 4, 2020 my SUV rolled backwards on a slight incline when the start button was pressed to turn it off while in drive position causing a broken ankle, multiple abrasions and back pain. Details: I drove my SUV onto a driveway with a slight incline. The SUV did not roll forward because of the incline but after stepping out of the vehicle I realized that I had not turned it off. I turned back around while standing next to the SUV and pressed the button to turn it off not realizing the car was in drive. It immediately started rolling backwards (downhill), knocking me to the ground and dragging me since I was caught under the door. The driver's side wheel either went over my foot or dragged it (not sure which since at that point I was afraid for my life). It broke my ankle and tore away the skin in the ankle area. When it finally stopped, I was able to roll away and cry for help. This incident caused a broken ankle, multiple abrasions on my body and damage to the muscles in my back causing a very painful rib cage. These injuries required immediate and ongoing physician care and physical therapy. I truly believe that there should be a safety feature that does NOT allow us to turn the car off while the vehicle is in drive. It was something that was part of the older key start/stop vehicles. I believe that I read that some of the other manufacturers were dealing with this problem so don't know why Honda hasn't addressed it. Why is it not standard on all the new keyless push button vehicles? I know I'm not the only one who had this problem because my orthopedic doctor told me another of her patients sustained injuries with a roll back. Thank you for your time. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 Medical attention | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The passenger and driver doors do not line up to the body of the vehicle which is causing the paint to chip when the doors are opened and closed. The weather seals on the doors are rolling as a result. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | ENGINE | I was driving 20 or 35 mph when the engine stopped unexpectedly. Also the steering wheel was stiffed. It simply shut down. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2021 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | i was driving in town at a speed of 35 mph when my car suddenly applied the brakes very hard and nearly stopped the vehicle. a warning alarm sounded at the same time. There were no other vehicles or objects within several blocks of my vehicle. I took the vehicle to Honda on Grand in Elmhurst IL where I purchased it new on 7-20-19 and reported the problem. they inspected the vehicle and could not find a problem. i looked online to find many people are having the exact same problem with this model. From what I read it appears to be a software problem with the adaptive cruise control. Honda is not acknowledging any problem at this time. My vehicle has 9480 miles on it and has never been in an accident. This is a serious safety issue and could easily cause an accident! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Driving on the freeway and sunroof glass spontaneously exploded. Was not going under an underpass and there were no other cars around. Moderate temperature outside and I was not running the heater or air conditioning (if that matters). Shade was pulled back, so I was showered with glass from the explosion. It is available for inspection upon request. Glass went everywhere. Luckily my family wasn't in the car with me, including my 4-year-old son. His car seat had a bunch of glass in it which would have hit him had he been with me. I am still waiting for a call back from the dealer. No, it has not been inspected yet. This happened yesterday, which was a Sunday, so nobody was open. I did call my insurance and am waiting to hear back. There was absolutely no warning before the glass exploded. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2021 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | Fuel Pump module with out of specification impellers. My vehicle had this above specific recall, in which I took my vehicle into the local Honda dealership to get repaired, however, just 2 days after my vehicle had been “repaired” it broke down/stalled and became inoperable while I was driving into a store parking lot. Ironically, earlier that day I called Honda Service department to inform them that my fuel detector continued to say full even though the dash information read only 118 miles left in fuel, they instructed me to bring the vehicle back to their shop so that they could assess the problem. Shortly after the call I made to Honda Service my vehicle broke down and so I had to have my vehicle towed back to the service department, after Waiting for almost 3 hours they informed me that my vehicle had ran out of gas and insinuated that it was my fault, even though my vehicle’s fuel indicator read full tank and was clearly not! Honda service representative continued to inform me that it was a little mistake that the mechanic installed the recalled parts incorrectly and that my vehicle was now fixed correctly. The following day I filled my gas tank full and the fuel indicator in my vehicle NOW read that it was less than 1/2 tank full!!! Once AGAIN the Honda service station FAILED to install the RECALLED parts correctly and when I called them to report my issues they responded to me as if AGAIN it was my fault!!! I’m tired of the inconsistencies and lack of respect and professionalism from this department!!!! How many times does my vehicle have to break down and possibly cause an accident before the recalled issues with it are fixed correctly??? Something has to be done!!! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2021 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | WHEN ON INTERSTATE IN MIDDLE OR LEFT LANE AND PASSING CAR IN LANE TO THE RIGHT, WITH NO CAR AHEAD IN SENSOR DISTANCE, BRAKES CAN SUDDENLY BE APPLIED. I CONTACTED HONDAUSA AND WAS REFERRED TO DEALER, WHICH WAS COGGIN HONDA, ST AUGUSTINE, FL. VEHICLE INSPECTED, SPOKE TO MECHANIC, WHO SAID HE IS HESITANT TO ADJUST FORWARD SENSOR CONE ON VEHICLE. FOR SAFETY REASONS, I NOW TRAVEL ON INTERSTATES USING TRADITIONAL CRUISE CONTROL. I DO NOT WANT TO BE REAR ENDED IF A VEHICLE BEHIND IS TAILGATING AND MY BRAKES ARE SUDDENLY APPLIED. I CANNOT ALWAYS GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A TAILGATER. THE SUDDEN APPLICATION OF BRAKES HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, NOT ONLY THE DATE LISTED AND ALWAYS ON A LIMITED ACCESS ROAD. I RARELY USE CRUISE CONTROL EXCEPT ON A LIMITED ACCESS ROAD. CONTROL. | Crash: No Fire: No | 6,000 |
