Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Mar 2024 STEERING After using the LKAS at 36,300 miles I observed stickiness in the steering wheel. I drove it for awhile but the stickiness makes it difficult to steer and could cause an accident. I took it to the dealer and now at 37,000 miles it needs a complete rack and pinion steering assembly at almost $4000 dollars. I have been driving cars since the 1970's and this is the first steering issue I have encountered. You would think that steering would be a system they have mastered by now. I also know that slightly older Honda CRV's (IE, 2018 model year) have been recalled for an issue like this due to improper heat treatment of the gears in the rack and pinion system. My guess is that the same parts in that model year are also in the 2019 model and it should b added to the recall as well. This system should not fail at only 37,000 miles.

Mar 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER I was driving down a road with no traffic when the sunroof shattered. I pulled over and there was a hole in the middle and it was completely cracked. No damage to any other component of the sunroof just the glass. There was nothing that impacted or fell on the sunroof. There was no prior damage to the sunroof or surrounding area. The sunroof was closed not in use at time of incident. Dealership could not find a reason for the damage but did say they had someone else go in for a sun roof randomly exploding as well.

Mar 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Car stops suddenly on highway, going into, "limp mode." All dash warning lights came on. Rich emissions. VTM-4 issue. This is an ongoing issue with CR-Vs, yet manufacturer has issues no solution, clearly opting to work each situation independently. Therefore, manufacturer saves the time and money associated with these repairs.

Mar 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM While driving my CRV in mid July 2023, I experienced engine stall, dash board flashing all kinds of error codes. I was a couple of miles away from home and was able to drive slowly home. Next day I had my vehicle towed to a local auto body shop for diagnosis. Body shop reported that my vehicle was under a recall for the problem with the fuel pump. We then had my vehicle towed to nearest Honda Dealer, Clawson Honda of Fresno. They agreed that the problem was because of the fuel pump, but at the time my VIN did not fall under current recall. I was told to keep my receipts for future reimbursement should the recall be revised to include my VIN. It now has. The dealer had my vehicle from July 14th to Aug 31st, stating parts were unavailable because of the volume of the recall. The finally just replace the whole fuel pump. I filed for reimbursement providing all documents required and was denied because the part number on the recall did not match the part number on the invoice. I called the dealership and asked if I needed to have the recalled part replaced and was told no because it was part of the whole fuel pump that was already replaced. I tried calling Honda again to contest the denial decision and was shut down, not allowed to contest the decision.

Mar 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Multiple codes are showing up while driving. The car has been at a local Honda dealership for over 3 months while waiting on a part associated with an open recall for fuel pump. The dealership cannot determine the root cause of the codes.

Mar 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I had received a recall notice for the fuel pump replacement from the dealership in Dec 2023 with no remedy provided as the part was not available. I did not receive the official notice from American Honda until February 2024. The notice specifies that the part can malfunction causing the car to stall. The notice also mentions the possibility that the part will not be available until Fall 2024. Altogether, this will be almost 9 months of driving a defective vehicle. I've contacted the company and the dealership several times to ask for a remedy, perhaps a loaner vehicle or reimbursement for car services, and no one has offered any remedy, and I am left driving an unsafe car. I understand the shortage of parts but for those that rely on their vehicles 9 months for a replacement part is excessive.

Mar 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE 1. CMBS (front collision detection system) has malfunctioned approximately 3-4 times over the past 3 years. 2. While operating the vehicle in different settings, front-collision will incorrectly detect something in front of the car when nothing is there and apply brakes causing the car to stop suddenly and unexpectedly. The first 2 incidents occurred in my parking structure and no one was behind me. The 3rd incident occurred while driving on a surface street in Honolulu, and again no one was ahead or behind me. The final incident occurred today ([XXX] at approximately [XXX] HST). There was no one in front and a car behind me and the CMBS flashed a warning and slammed on the brakes bringing the car to a complete stop. Car behind me was forced to stop to avoid rear-end collision. 3. I took the car in for inspection after the 3rd incident last year (Pacific Honda dealership). Vehicle was inspected, mechanic took the car for a test drive, and was unable to replicate the problem. I was told this happens and car was returned to me. 4. There were no warning lights or messages indicating a problem with the CMBS prior to these events occurring. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Mar 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The warning lights periodically went on and off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who reprogrammed the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,770. The VIN was unavailable.

Feb 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The Honda Collision Mitigation System (CMBS) engaged incorrectly. I was accelerating from an intersection with no cars in front of me or next to me when the car flashed the “BRAKE” warning and engaged the brakes hard causing the car to come to a nearly full stop from around 25-30 mph. Had there been a car behind me, they would have been at risk of hitting me because of the sudden nature of braking. Fortunately that didn’t happen, but the hard braking did strain my neck. This had not happened before, but in the past, I have noticed the system incorrectly flashing the “BRAKE” message when cars turn right from in front of me. I would make the vehicle available for inspection if asked, and will bring the issue to the dealership’s attention too.

Feb 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Sometimes when you shut the car off, the fuel pump in the fuel tank continues to run. I restarted my car and shut it off and the fuel pump will stop. I'm not sure if it's a bad relay or in the wiring. I don't park near the house. Thanks

Feb 2024 STEERING In November of 2023, I started having a noise in the front end of my 2019 Honda CRV. I took it into the local Honda dealership and was told that I had a bad power steering rack. They replaced the steering gear box. I was concerned that a vehicle with only 34,000 miles on it would have such an important component break so soon. I looked on [XXX] & saw there were multiple reports of the same thing occurring on other same year, low mileage cars. There were reports on the same website that indicated some had actual problem when steering. I reported it to American Honda, they were responsive, but I did not know that this was the group that needed to be alerted to the problem. So, I am addressing it now. Thanks for your time. Feb 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM I am reaching out because I received a recall notice for my HONDA CRV 2019. I received a notice that there’s and issue with the fuel pump and I am concerned because Honda sent a notice now in February but they have known about the issue since December. I called Honda World Downey and I was told they would now be able to help me and to call back. I take this matter very seriously as I am concerned something may happen to me while I am driving the vehicle. I was told that they may be able to help me in Fall of 2024 that’s 6 plus months away. I am unsure if I should drive my vehicle. Can I please get some advice.

Feb 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The NHTSA announced a recall in the fall 2023 for Honda CR-V 2018-2020 regarding the fuel pump module which may have an improperly molded impeller. The safety issue says the car may not start or may stall while driving. I travel frequently on highways, so stalling is not a pleasant outcome. On 2/13/24, I finally received a written notice from Honda indicating that my vehicle is affected. However, Honda states that parts will not be available until fall 2024! How can this be acceptable?? I don't have another vehicle to use. Do I continue driving my vehicle and hope that it does not suddenly stop?
