Jul 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,BACK OVER PREVENTION On or around July 12th 2025 at low speed of 2-4 mph my rear end locked up sending everyone in the vehicle hard stop forward. The vehicle wouldn't disengage leaving me no choice but to have it towed for the second time 1st time happened exactly the same about month and a half prior. Gmc service department department claims they couldn't find anything wrong after it sat for two days in there lot after having it towed they were closed weekends and looked at it that Monday morning finding no signs of anything wrong. After picking up my vehicle I strongly feel like if at higher speeds or even environment this issue will endanger myself passengers and bystanders. I need help with resolving this safety issues asap please. Gmc hasn't been much help service department nor Gm support options.

Jul 2025 ENGINE On 7/17/25 vehicle was taken to Star Buick/GMC in Easton PA for rear brakes and an oil change. This vehicle has 49,981 miles on it. I was told after the oil change the tech took the truck for a test drive. I was told he made it about 20 feet and the engine seized. Either the tech forgot to refill the crank case or it is another GM 6.2 disaster. Please advise as the dealer is quoting over 12K to replace engine.

Jul 2025 ENGINE My 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 truck exhibiting all the same signs as the recent call for the same 2021 truck recall according to the dealership. This is for the L87 V8 engine. The 2021 engine was used in the 2019 trucks but again the 2019 trucks are not a part of the recall. My repair bill is upwards of $10,000 and diagnostics is upwards for $4,000 even though all are aware of the recent recall and my truck having the same engine.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE I was driving with my wife about to merge into traffic on the interstate when I had a huge power loss. It was a busy part of the interstate where I could have been ran over. There was a lot of traffic and was fortunate the Semi driver was alert and slowed down. I was not aware of any failures of this motor or received any notices from GM. After conducting research I found that this was a know issue that GM failed to report. My truck has been serviced regularly and until that point had not given any signs of a upcoming failure, I have read that GM is looking into other years such as 2019 which mine is. I have had no luck with GM customer care with the only response being I need to crunch the numbers from my claim advisor. I have the 6.2 L87 motor and know of the clip failure do to poor assembly and parts and debris getting into the motor causing the failure. I am looking to report this and request any assistance available. My first stop was the dealership, then GM customer care

Jun 2025 ENGINE Driving down the highway at approximately 65mph, when I accelerated to 70mph my truck began to shake violently flashing a check engine light, service parking brake light, and service ESC light, the engine began to violently shake and make a rough knocking noise Had the vehicle towed to the mechanic where I was informed that the lifter on cylinder 2 had collapsed and that it would be $12,500 to replace all 16 lifters as well as the cam shaft on my engine My safety was at risk as my truck went into a “limp” mode and essentially shut off on the side of the road, others were at risk due to my truck becoming a hazard, the tow operator was at risk having to pickup my truck on the side of a 70mph freeway The only check engine code I had was a misfire on cylinder 2 Dealership stated that it was a known issue but that my truck was outside of warranty, and not apart of recall so there was nothing they could do Had truck towed to different shop that is repairing the problem Requested that all parts be kept in case of inspection request

Jun 2025 STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE My 2019 GMC Sierra Denali shut off suddenly while I was stopped in traffic. The engine died, the steering wheel locked, and the dashboard displayed warning messages including “ESC,” “power,” and another I didn’t catch. The truck would not restart despite attempts. The check engine light is now on. This happened without warning, and I had no prior mechanical issues. The vehicle is well maintained, garage-kept, and recently received a full service including oil change, brake work, and 75K-mile recommended service. I fear this is related to a known issue affecting other GMC engines under investigation for sudden power loss.

Jun 2025 ENGINE There is a common lifter failure issue with the 5.3 V8 engine in these vehicles and local mechanics I've spoken too are very aware. The 6.2L was recalled for the same reason. GM would not honor or cover any of this as it was "out of warranty", however, I strongly feel this should be investigated.

Jun 2025 ENGINE The engine failed and needs full replacement. Known GM issue with lifters. Engine style 6.2L. We contacted GM and they are not responsive and they provided a claim number. To repair is over 9,000$ and I still owe about 7000$ and the truck was purchased brand new. GM cannot furnish a replacement engine. The dealer showed 34 in stock when ordered. The dealer contacted us later stating GM canceled the order and they do not have an ETA when they can send an engine for the vehicle. We are paying on a vehicle that is stuck at dealer and cannot be repaired.

Jun 2025 ENGINE I had a 2019 GMC Sierra with a 6.2L gas engine. The engine failed while I was driving on the highway at 65 mph. The truck began shaking badly, check engine light and all kinds of warning lights came on. I pulled over and drove slowly 10 miles to a GM dealer who then told me that I should not be driving the truck due to safety concerns and it could lose power and lead to an accident. I had it towed back to my home town ($500 later) to the GMC dealer where I purchased the truck. They told me the same thing, it could not be driven. GM has since recalled vehicles with this same 6.2L engine manufactured in model years 2021-2024. I believe that recall should have included my 2019 truck. I was at risk of serious injury or death due to engine failure, fortunately I did not crash. However, I lost $14,000 in value of the truck thanks to the faulty engine. I believe the recall should be expanded and I should be compensated by GM for the engine failure. I have attached the estimate for the repair.

Jun 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE I am reporting a serious mechanical and safety issue with my 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 (5.3L engine). The truck began misfiring, running rough, and would frequently “jump” and shut off while driving — creating an unsafe situation on the road. We attempted several repairs to resolve the issue: •Transmission flush •Replaced the intake manifold gasket •Replaced all eight fuel injectors •Inspected all ignition coils •Replaced faulty sensors The vehicle repeatedly showed a Cylinder 8 misfire, even after these repairs. Eventually, it was diagnosed that both the lifters and camshaft are bad, and the engine now needs a full replacement. This is extremely concerning because the truck has only about 47,000 miles on it. We brought it to the dealership in September 2024, while it was still under warranty, and told them it wasn’t running right. The dealership said there was nothing wrong. Now that the warranty has expired, GM is refusing to help with any repairs. This appears to be a manufacturing defect that was not properly diagnosed while under warranty. Engine failure at such low mileage, especially with early warning signs and repeated diagnostic errors, should be investigated as a serious reliability and safety concern.

Jun 2025 ENGINE The engine lifters failed with out notice twice. Upon inspection of the vehicle it was determined that there was no issues that contributed to this failure. I paid to have the problem fixed within a year the same problem happend again. I was on the expressway and my car just shut off with out warning while cruising at expressway speeds and refused to cut back on for about 2 hrs.

May 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Since I bought the truck, it has had transmission problems. The truck will violently jerk forward between Park - 1st - 2nd gears (up and down) pretty frequently. The dealership denied being able to recreate the issue and nothing was wrong. After dropping the vehicle off a few times, the dealer service dept said they recreated the problem and replace the torque converter. It did not work and the service dept manager told me that they knew about the problem the whole time but were instructed by General Motors to not attempt to fix the issue. I called GM Company and a supervisor eventually admitted to knowing of the transmission and engine issues all along but the GM engineers have not found a solution yet but they are working very hard to figure it out. Since those calls, my lemon law claim with BBB Auto was approved, but suddenly denied with no explanation. Following that, the #2 lifter failed and damaged the cam shaft. All were replaced and that was at 70,000 miles. The transmission has not been fixed.
