| Jan 2023 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | Abs, traction control and trailer break system failure. Check engine light comes on and goes off after 5 cycles. It also says ESC warning drive with care and it flashes also and steering reduced | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | PARKING BRAKE | The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated when he started the vehicle, the parking brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the computer was updated, but the failure reoccurred. On another occasion, while driving 70 MPH, the parking brake warning light and 4WD warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again and the contact was informed that the actuator switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The failure mileage was 37,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 37,000 |
| Dec 2022 | STRUCTURE | The rear window on the 2019 GMC Sierra SLT leaks water into the cab. This presents a serious concern to the owner of the vehicle because unless you are specifically looking for the leak you may not even know there is one. Upon noticing the leak, one can witness a steady drip of water behind the rear seat, drivers side. My personal concern is that what happens after the water has leaked and had gone unnoticed for an extended period of time, does mold start to grow? Does my truck have mold growing in it? With two young children in the vehicle I am concerned about their health and safety. My frustration with this issue is that GM refuses to acknowledge that there is an issue. My dealer has brought this issue up with GM but the claim has been denied. I have no idea how long the leak has been happening but it’s a manufacturing problem that exists and it certainly shouldn't be the owners responsibility to fix the problem. More importantly, it shouldn't be my young childrens health that is affected by the manufacturers incompetency and ignorance. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The rear window defogger is smoking and sizzling. The connection on the passenger side glass that connects the moveable harness for the center glass smokes and sizzles when the rear defogger is on. There is a recall on these vehicles in Canada for this issue. My concern is that it may start a fire. The connector is right behind the right rear passenger seat, imposing a threat to the occupant of that seat. Also, the rear defogger comes on automatically with heated mirrors when remote started. I cannot use remote start, mirror defogger, or rear glass defogger currently due to this defect. I noticed a sizzling sound while driving the truck. I pulled over and began searching. I found smoke being emitted from the connector attached to the rear glass on the passenger side. This is a serious issue. It is a fire hazard. The vehicle could catch fire while driving or while remote engine start has been activated in temperatures lower than 40 degrees. There is a difference in an uncommon electrical short and a known problem. General Motors is aware of this issue and there has not be a notification to owners in the United States nor are there any recalls or suggested repairs. The safety of consumers is in jeopardy with this known problem occurring in multiple lines of their vehicles. Any with a power sliding glass could be affected. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | ENGINE | I was on the highway going 60mph and the engine light came on and it said “low oil pressure, turn off engine”. I could not safely pull over and had to drive a half mile to do so. The vehicle was towed to the service station near my house that I’ve used before and the problem was a blown high pressure oil line. Technician said that the hose came undone at the crimp joint and that he’s recently seen other Sierras with the same problem. I checked my GMC app and there were no recalls so I authorized the repair and paid the $919 bill. A few days later I did a google search for 2019 GMC Sierra oil line problems and got several hits from the GMauthority.com site. It’s a known problem in Canada and Alaska (cold weather) and GMC will repair it at no charge if the vehicle was bought there and the repair is done by a GMC repair facility but they won’t reimburse me because I bought mine in MA. It was 24 degrees the day the line blew. The problem is that the part is faulty and fails at cold temperatures. There should be a recall on the high pressure oil lines for all vehicles sold in cold weather states. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | The truck has 50,000 miles, purchased new. I don't tow or go off road. I take it to the dealer every 5,000 miles. While driving 65-70mph on the interstate (4-lanes), my dash lit up with five messages and the "Brake, Traction Control and Engine" lights illuminated. I applied brakes but the pedal went to the floor and the steering veered to the left causing me to move out of my lane. The truck then went to limp mode and I was unable to go above 43mph the remainder of the trip home. After taking it to my dealer the next day, I was told they "found air in the brake fluid system due to secondary seal failure in brake master cylinder, and was quoted a new cylinder (PN 86788482) for $1708.06. RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS: >Component failure: brake master cylinder (eBoost Brake Unit Assembly) / Brake System Failure >It was just me in the vehicle - brake failure on the highway put me and others on the road at major risk >Yes - After paying to diagnose, I was told this was brake master cylinder failure. ...GM issued a Customer Satisfaction Program (N202324120) for a limited number of MY2021 Silverado/Sierra trucks (mine is a MY2019) for dealers to replace the eBoost brake unit assemblies due to failure >Part has not been inspected by my insurance rep./I do not know if anyone else has inspected >The warnings illuminated on the dash at the time of brake failure while on the interstate 1. "Service ESC" 2. "Service Trailer Brake System" 3. "Steering Assist Is Reduced Drive with Care" 4. "Service Brake Assist" 5. "Brake System Failure 43 MPH Top Speed" 6. Also, the BRAKE, Traction Control and Engine lights illuminated | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE | MY 2019 2500HD (49,00 MILES) TRUCK HAD WATER LEAKING IN THROUGH THE ROOF. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT THE LEAK WAS CAUSED BY A BAD FACTORY TACK WELD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ROOF SEAM. DUE TO THIS BAD TACK WELKD, IT CAUSED WATER TO LEAK DOWN THE A-PILLER, DOWN INTO MY ELECTRICAL FUSE BOX AND WIRING. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | POWER TRAIN | Stopping at a light and transmission jerks forward, almost causing me to rear end and other vehicle. Transmission jerks and clunks forward. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES | Service Brake assist is illuminated, Brake Failure has occured. Near miss on Busy street leaving parking lot. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Rear Vision Module failure. Open circuit inside module. “Service rear vision system” on radio while backing up. Was intermittent Blut not always on when backing ip | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | POWER TRAIN | When I first start the truck up and reverse out of my driveway once I shift it to drive it hesitates and feels as the transmission slips from 1st to 2nd gear. Makes it a safety issue due to the truck launching forward once the acceleration kicks in and the revolutions are high once the truck starts its speed from the hesitation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Front passenger window when you push it up it goes up and then immediately back down. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | While driving down the highway at 70 MPH, the transmission slammed into gear and the engine died. A message appeared and said shift to neutral and press the ignition button. The check engine light also appeared. This had been a problem that first appeared at 48,000 miles. I was told that GM recognizes that there is an issue with the transmission, but that it would not damage the vehicle so it is not able to be repaired under warranty. The dealership advised that I should change the transmission fluid, so I did. The transmission continued to slam into gear thereafter. Fast forward to 55,000 miles where the truck completely died. The engine would not start and the truck had to be towed to a dealership. The next day the dealership told me that they had figured out the issue and that it was related to the fuse box and the ignition. I picked up my truck the next day, and drove less than a mile before the engine died again. I sat at the dealership for 12 hours and they had another answer for what was happening. They said that the shift lever was damaged and it was not allowing the battery to recharge. I live 400 miles away from where the truck broke down. I had to rent a vehicle to return home with my family from a trip. I now have to drive back to my truck in another state, and pay for the 12 plus hours of diagnostic work at $140 an hour as well as the cost of the part and the time to install it because the dealership stated that this is not covered by any warranty. I see that several people are dealing with a similar issue and I am frustrated that no one is willing to help us right this wrong. My grandfather worked for GM his entire adult life, and I will never own another one. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES | Brake pad monitor listed over 90% for both front and rear brakes then all of sudden I get warning light that says Service Brake Monitor. I have had this happen twice since I purchased this vehicle new. The dealership has fixed it twice, there were software bugs. I cannot tell when I have a real issue or is it just a software bug. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | ENGINE | Lifters failed. Damaged crank. Just out of factory warranty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2022 | POWER TRAIN | Oil coolant line snapped causing low pressure. Vehicle had to be turned off and towed to local garage. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Jul 2022 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | When driving my truck I lost all power steering got notifications to service abs in 7 days, service esp, and service power steering as well as a stability at light being on. Could no control my vehicle, restarted the truck 4 times, and it disappeared, garage could not pull any codes. This is VERY unsafe!!!!!! And has been issued a recall in past models and years. I could have been killed, for a problem the GM is aware of and have not issued a recall yet. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while at a traffic signal, the vehicle stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that he shifted the vehicle into park(P) and needed four attempts to restart the vehicle. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact proceeded a few miles on the road and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer who diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new battery. The battery was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer who informed the contact that the wiring harness nearby the front suspension control arm was chafed. The contact was informed that a short circuit had caused the vehicle to stall. The dealer stated that the failure was related to Technical Service Bulletin: 21-NA-149 (Engine Wire Harness Chafing). The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,799. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 51,799 |
| Jul 2022 | SUSPENSION | Ball joint separated from control arm while driving. Vehicle was undrivable had to be towed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | SERVICE BRAKES | When I began to accelerate my vehicle the brakes locked automatically. I noticed that once I hit 6 mph the brakes locked. I tried troubleshooting by turning the truck on and off, turning off all of the assistance buttons, turned the parking brake on and off. I was able to drive it in reverse. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The vehicle jerks when I put it in reverse or drive. And when I'm going down the road while it shifts gears. It's be doing it since I purchased it (new). It was light at first but lately its been worse. I took it to the dealership a couple of months ago & they replaced something small & said it was fixed. But it still bad. My truck still only has 30K miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | Last Weekend was taking the kids and my brother and his son fishing, so 2 adults in front seats 3 kids on the backseat. Got my boat all hooked up and we're off. About 2 miles down the road the truck rebs up really high and then bottoms down hard on the RPM's. As soon as this happens all lights and instrument cluster goes crazy. Check Engine light on, Parking Brake Light On,Traction Control Light On, And I'm sure I'm forgetting more. The Cluster states ESC failure drive with caution, Do Not Exceed 43 miles per hour speed limit Brake Failure and So on. I have since found pictures pf the exact same thing that happened to me that morning and will provide. Needless to say I have no brakes and have a 19 ft bass boat behind me. All I could do was let off gas completely and push brake pedal all the way to the floor and pray that it stopped. Good Lord willing it did. Pulled over asap and killed truck, let sit a few minutes while I assessed the situation and cranked it back up. All lights and brakes were fine. Has not done it since but I only drove to dealership to find out the issue and 4 days later still no answer. Its a 2019 with only 26000 miles, and has never had 1 issue before this | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2022 | POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES | The transmission on this truck it’s not good first they said it was the torque converter then they said it was the valve body ,it work for a few days and I told them before they change any of that that the transmission was making a rattling noise they just patching the problem not fixing the problem told them to give me a new truck or new transmission but they just keep patching the issue I been at cullman dealership like 7 times ,, also had a p25a2 code had a check engine light I told the dealership about and they didn’t do anything about it bc the check engine light wasn’t on anymore | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
