| Jun 2023 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact was informed that the oil level was down a half quart every 1,000 miles. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle needed an oil change every 5,000 miles and that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 41,066. | Crash: No Fire: No | 41,066 |
| Jun 2023 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the engine made rattling sounds. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the dealer on separate occasions, where it was determined that the cam phaser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 71,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 71,000 |
| Jun 2023 | POWER TRAIN | 2019 Ford F-150 crew cab with 047763.1 miles on it while returning from Vermont has started with sever and harsh shifting at various speed, this results in a loud CLUNK followed with a hard and swift gear change. This has happened at vaious speeds from 15 mph to 75-80 mph. It feels like the transmission is about to drop/explode which could cause an accident on an interstate roadway. Spoke with Larson Ford service advisor who is aware of the 10R80 transmission issues and they will check my truck on June 7th, 2023. There has not been any warning lights/check engine lights/messages as of yet | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER | Drivers side wiper arm is visibly loose. It does not make constant contact with the windshield Engine consumes 3 quarts of oil in less then 2k miles, it currently has 57,818 on odometer, has been regularly serviced Ford recommend 91 or above octane to curve “pinging and pre detonation”. Have run 91 octane fuel for last 5 tanks and continues to misfire and ping between 1500-2000 rpms while under no load besides the weight of the vehicle | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission fails to shift and truck fails to accelerate. It's very dangerous crossing the intersection when it occurs. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission bucks and skips gears in the 800-2000rpm range. When acceleration applied in the rpm range given, it hesitates and then lurches forward . It also 'jumps' in a forward motion when starting in park on a level surface. I had the transmission software flashed by Ford last year which helped for 2-3 months only. It is getting worse. Ford now wants to charge to refresh the software again since the truck is out of warranty by 6 months. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | SUSPENSION | I HAD JUST RETURNED TO MY WORK. CUSTOMER CAME IN SAID MY TRUCK MADE A NOISE AND RIGHT SIDE DROPPED. AFTER TOWING TO DEALER THEY SAID SPRING FAILED. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING O WHAT AN ACCIDENT. OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS ONLINE BUT I BELEIVE A RECALL SHOULD BE LOOKED AT. WHAT IF MY OTHER SPRINGS FAIL WHILE DRIVING? WHAT IF I DIDNT HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN PS I DRIVE 2 MILES TO WORK MY TRUCK HAS 18700 MILES ON IT | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Two instances of severe loss of transmission function occurred at highway speeds within the last 5 months. The first instance occurred on flat terrain (in Michigan) with no load in the bed of the truck. The second instance occurred in hilly terrain (Tennessee) with about 500 lbs. in the bed of the truck. In both instances the transmission started cycling/jumping between first and tenth gears and several gears in between. This cycling was very fast and repetitive. The driver was forced to quickly decelerate (remove foot from accelerator peddle, apply brakes) to maintain control and pull off the highway. It was noted in both instances that the transmission temperature had shot up to around 220 degrees F. The normal temperature for the transmission in this truck at highway speeds has been observed to be around 190 degrees F. In the second incident, the wiper functionality was lost; the wipers would only work at the highest speed. (The functionality of the wipers in the first incident was not determined.) In both instances the engine was shut off to allow the transmission temperature to cool down to within the range of 190 degress F. Once the the transmission cooled to this range, the truck could be driven because the transmission functioned properly. Also, proper wiper function was restored. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | I tried to have my transmission fluid changed 2019 F150 5.0L with a 10R80 (10-speed automatic) transmissions. The shop was Goss garage in Crofton MD and they would not take liability to service it because the vehicle has a Technical Service Bulletin outstanding from Ford, TSB-21-2315 and I tried to call Ford Koons in Annapolis and have not got a return call. I chatted with Shakura for 20 minutes and she brought up two other TSBs and told me to talk to a dealer. I have a copy of the TSB and it looks rather involved so I’m worried why all this run around. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Constant transmission issues where the shifting between certain gears was not operating correctly. The dealership performed a number of what they called “Adaptive Relearns” to try and reset the computer but it only helped for a short period before the shifting went back into the same format where it would shift improperly. I’ve been having the same issue since before the Warranty was up. I finally made then drive my truck to check the issue and they agreed it was in fact most likely a mechanical issue. I received a quotation for $6k to remove and disassemble the transmission to address a possible sleeve in the CDF drum that may have moved. Now my truck is out of Warranty so it’s out of pocket to fix it. Had this been addressed properly when I brought it in originally, it would have been fixed under Warranty. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | truck when approaching intersection trucks transmission goes into neutral. Causing a safety hazard This problem has been in shop 3 times with no fix also called fords main number suppled by dealer with no help from them | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on various occasions after turning on the vehicle, a loud rattling noise was heard coming from the engine compartment. The contact also stated that the failure reoccurred while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle had not yet been taken to an independent mechanic or a local dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000. The contact stated that the dealership noted that the engine phasers rattle on start up. | Crash: No Fire: No | 40,000 |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | while driving the transmission had a harsh engagement when shifting gears and when leaving from a stop later the same day the vehicle would no move when applying the acceleration pedal, then the transmission engaged after a few seconds. The transmission or Transmission Control Module (TCM) needs to be addressed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | AIR BAGS | Steering wheel airbag cover has been replaced twice already and has failed a third time. The plastic cover separates at the release point for the airbag, directly below the steering wheel emblem, exposing the airbag to the elements. The composition of this FORD airbag cover has changed at least once and is still failing in the new design. Dealership is refusing to provide me with service records requested 3 times. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On July 14, 2022, I took my F150 to Ford and it was determined that the 10 speed transmission was going to need to be replaced. I had 60,400 miles on it when it starts having major malfunction going on in the Powertrain. At the time the transmission replacement was being done, it was Ford’s knowledge that the Cam phasers were not functioning correctly.. causing sudden jerk and knocking.. Cam Phasers we’re not replace last year nor looked at, even though I told them that there was sudden jerks happening. It was under warranty at that time (last year). Ford also knew that reprogramming the trucks software, does not correct any of the problems that they are having. Now at 70,000 miles I’m going back in to, Southwest Ford in Hudson Oaks, Texas, to get these parts replaced as soon as they are available. They are requesting $700 (just like when the transmission was replaced). Which it is my opinion that the total amount should be covered-$1800. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission has Almost failed and is exhibiting jerking, thud sounds, and causing small whip lash affects. Transmission was serviced a year ago and "reprogrammed" the timing. The last month the transmission started experiencing hard shifting, jerking and missing gears. I took it into the dealer again to diagnose and was told I will need a new transmission at 140k miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | 10 Speed transmission has rough shifting. Clunks, delays, gets stuck in gears and hesitates. Have had the transmission reprogrammed, valve body replaced, and other repairs from ford dealer. Most recently had a new transmission installed and all the same problems after 2000 miles if not worse than the old transmission. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | After owning the vehicle for about a year to a year and half transmission developed jerking in 3rd gear occasionally. Took the vehicle to the dealership while under warranty and was advised multiple times that this was normal. Now occasionally there is a sudden reduction in power to the wheels and it almost seems like the vehicle is not shifting at all. This has happened more than once and unfortunately to sporadic to provide an actual date | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Automatic transmission malfunctioned. Loss of power between 3 (third) and 4 (forth) gears. When upshifting from 3 to 4 it will experience a loss of power, however it is not consistent and seems to happen randomly. Likewise while downshifting from 4 (forth) to 3 (third) the transmission will clunk and lock-up for a 1/2 sec while the engine rpm tries to match the downshift. This has caused a loss of traction from the rear wheels while decelerating when shifting from 4 to 3. Again it is not consistent and seems to happen randomly. Vehicle has been in for complaint of these issues and dealer noted it is normal and transmission adaptive shift table needed to be reset. However this did not fix the issue. Issue is still present. There are no warning lamps or fault codes. These issues began at about 6,000 miles. I am not at over 25,000 with no resolution. Vehicle details 2019 Ford F150 3.5L EcoBoost 4x4 Lariat with the 10R80 (10 speed) transmission. Other symptoms include transmission shifting harshly and erratically between all gears, causing the vehicle to jerk, lunge, again clunk and hesitate between gears especially 3 and 4. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER,BACK OVER PREVENTION | After purchasing my truck, it was discovered that the back up camera doesn't work. It will work on occasion when the truck is put in reverse. The safety for myself or others is that I cannot see behind me when backing up. I have not taken the vehicle in for an inspection since I have been told that this is an issue for other Ford F150's in the same year. When backing up my screen says camera not available. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission clunks and lunges. Gets stuck in high gear and the truck loses power. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | Truck has the 10 speed transmission. Has many intermittent issues including: Slipping transmission when going into gear from cold start, jerky/clunking shifting, loss of power. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2023 | POWER TRAIN | My 2019 F-150 has the 10-speed transmission which shifts erratically. Driving down the interstate the transmission goes into a "neutral mode" which greatly reduces the speed, thus nearly causing me to be rear-ended. When this happens, I've noticed the gear selection lights on the dash go from 10th gear to 1st gear during the "neutral mode". This has happened on numerous occasions. The last couple of times this has happened a "gear" light will display on the cluster. Shifting between 1-3 , 4-6, and 7-9 seems to shift very hard and erratic, sometimes missing gears. The truck is presently at the dealership, but it has been acting up for a month. The dealership was booked and couldn't get it in until 5/1/2023 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
