| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN | I am on my 2nd transmission, 2 torque converters, have had the transmission fluid flushed 4 -6 times, and it still shudders horribly bad and only has 136,000 miles. I bought it brand new, never been wrecked or abused. I cant get extended warranties because it is a known issue and they dont want to cover it. This needs to be a recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES | Vehicle: 2019 Chevrolet Traverse Issue: “Shift to Park” warning – vehicle fails to recognize it is in Park I am filing a complaint regarding a persistent &dangerous defect with my 2019 Chevrolet Traverse involving the “Shift to Park” warning system. For the past several years, my vehicle has repeatedly failed to recognize that it is in Park, even when it clearly is. This issue has escalated into a serious safety and reliability concern. Most recently, I was stranded in a store parking lot for over two hours because my vehicle would not properly shut off or restart due to the false “Shift to Park” warning. I had to call someone to disconnect the battery to prevent it from draining completely, which caused additional cost and inconvenience. After reconnecting the battery, the vehicle still would not start for another 2hours. This defect leaves me at risk of being stranded at any time, including in unsafe or isolated. As a single parent of 4 young children, this creates a significant safety concern for my family. This problem has been ongoing since Oct 2023 and has occurred repeatedly since then, and consistently every month since then, often four or more times per month. I have brought this issue to a Chevrolet dealership, Reed-Lallier Chevrolet in Fayetteville, NC, multiple times. Despite being charged diagnostic fees, no permanent fix has been provided. This is a known issue with this vehicle model related to a faulty shifter assembly or park detection system. This defect impacts the vehicle’s ability to shut off, restart, & function reliably, creating a serious safety hazard. I am requesting that this issue be formally investigated & that appropriate action be taken to require a recall or manufacturer-covered repair. This problem is widespread among similar vehicles & should not continue to leave drivers stranded or at risk. Mileage: 44,410 miles Dates of occurrences: Oct 2023-present Dealer contacted: Reed-Lallier Chevrolet on Raeford rd Fayetteville NC | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I keep having emission problems. The first time I took it to the dealership they fixed then it messed up again had that fixed about three months later check engine light was on again same thing had it fixed for the third time check engine light went off and of course came back home had to fix it again it’s off for now. I’m just waiting for it to pop back on. Second problem that I’ve been having is the fuel pressure sensor changed it light went off now it’s back on. They say change the fuel pump just to see. Did that check engine light back on? When is the check engine light gonna go off another problem that I’ve been having shift to park that pops up every so often at this point, I do not recommend Chevy traverses too many problems and nobody fixing them | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

This prevents the car from turning off and displays an error message “Shift To Park” This issue is recalled on models 2020 and newer but not 2019 which is an oversight and should be. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the gear shifter failed to shift into park. The gear shifter was shifted back and forth for approximately 20 to 30 minutes before eventually shifting into park(P) as intended. The shift to park(P) warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | "Shift to Park" alarm continues to appear when the car is in park. At times it does not clear for 10 minutes or so. On a couple of occasions I could not get it to go away for 30 minutes. This is an issue that drains the battery and have caused me to remain in the car to start and restart the vehicle until it is no longer present. Which damages the starter. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while attempting to turn off the vehicle, the Auto START/STOP system failed to turn off as intended. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a claim was filed. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | STEERING | Recall number N192211320 ( Left Front Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Not Seated ) Chevrolet is refusing to fix this issue, saying that it's not a safety recall. This issue can effect the steering control and its very evident thats its a safety issue. They're saying this recall expires with the base warranty. This is a clear attempt to circumvent the law, by not classifying this as a safety issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated, jerked, and failed to respond on some occasions, requiring the vehicle to be turned off and restarted. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked significantly and almost stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle had failed to respond upon shifting to reverse(R). The vehicle was taken to O'Reilly’s Auto Parts; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact was informed that the diagnostic test confirmed that the vehicle was in drive(D), even though the gear shifter was in reverse(R). The dealer was notified of the failure and recommended a diagnostic test. The vehicle was taken to Kenny Wilson Transmission, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the transmission throttle had failed and needed to be replaced; however, the part was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 158,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 158,000 |
| Mar 2026 | POWER TRAIN | When putting the vehicle in park the “shift to park” indicator comes on the dash. The vehicle has already been placed in park and will not move. This has happened multiple times over the last 3-4 years. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | POWER TRAIN | Complete transmission failure while driving approximately 60 MPH. Transmission started shifting irregularly while driving at a steady speed on a 55 MPH paved county road and locked into 3rd gear slowing me down quite suddenly. I turned on my emergency flashers and pulled into a parking lot. If traffic had been heavy I could easily have been hit from behind for unexpected deceleration with no brakes applied and no brake lights to warn a following vehicle. There were no dash warning on even after stopping. The vehicle has 111,000 miles on it and has been used to tow loads rarely, and the loads were far below the 5000 lb rating of the vehicle. Because it is well past the 75,000 mile power-train warranty (I bought it used) I am having to pay nearly $9,000 for a remanufactured transmission replacement at my local dealership. This is a major financial burden to me for a repair something that should last well beyond 200,000 miles as transmission typically do. I have owned several vehicles that have. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2026 | POWER TRAIN | When placing the vehicle in park, whether it’s on a flat surface or an incline, the SHIFT TO PARK notification displays. In addition, the nonfiction chime rings consistently until the gear shift is realigned or until it stops on its own. During this ringing period the headlights won’t go off and the ringing last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. The longest time recorded was 20 minutes. Once the ringing finalizes, there is still a possibility that the start/stop button has to be pressed manually so the headlights will completely turn off. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Jan 2026 | POWER TRAIN | I had to replace my 2019 traverse transmission around 105,000 miles but had a shuddering when slowly accelerating or driving since around 70,000 miles. Possibly a programming issue with the transmission control module?? Because after replacing transmission the shuddering still happened and I had to reprogram the transmission control module again and then the shuddering is 95% gone. Also , shift to park alert is a big issue too. If you put the car in park sometimes you have to maneuver the shift knob and tap it to make the “park to shift” go away so I can lock my car. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Dec 2025 | POWER TRAIN | To the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I am submitting this letter as a **formal safety complaint** regarding repeated transmission failure in my **2019 Chevrolet Traverse**, which poses a potential risk to vehicle safety. In **December 2024**, while the vehicle was still covered under General Motors’ factory powertrain warranty, an authorized GM dealership diagnosed a serious transmission defect. Due to parts being on national backorder, the repair was delayed. When the repair was eventually performed, only partial components (torque converter and valve body) were replaced rather than the full transmission. Despite this repair, the transmission **failed again less than one year later**. In **November 2025**, a second authorized GM dealership confirmed that the transmission now requires **full replacement** and that the prior repair did not correct the underlying defect. The transmission failure has resulted in **slipping, hesitation, and loss of proper power delivery**, which creates a **potential safety hazard**, particularly during acceleration, merging, and highway driving. A loss of propulsion or delayed response in traffic significantly increases the risk of an accident. This issue was identified while the vehicle was under warranty and was not properly resolved. The repeat failure suggests a **systemic defect** rather than normal wear. General Motors has declined further assistance. I am requesting that NHTSA review this complaint as part of its monitoring of potential **powertrain defects** affecting vehicle safety.
