| Jan 2024 | STEERING | The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that extra effort was needed while turning the steering wheel, and for the steering wheel to return to center. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a diagnostic test was performed. The dealer confirmed that the vehicle was outside the production date for a Customer Support Program. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 110,000 |
| Jan 2024 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | I brought my car in for maintenance and while the vehicle was on the lift, the top mounting bracket of both front MacPherson struts failed and allowed the coil spring to decompress to the furthest extent allowed by the other suspension components. Both struts catastrophically failed within 10 minutes of each other, causing a loud violent bang, but not immediately when the tires were lifted off the pavement. By all measures, this is a design flaw that allowed moisture to be trapped in the top strut mount which greatly accelerated this component's failure. Every other visible portion of the strut and all other components on the under carriage look almost pristine, showing almost no corrosion. The maintenance and subsequent repair did not occur at a Toyota Dealership | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Turned on the car Drove about 30 seconds and car states that secondary pre collision emergency brake and it just stops on a busy street With no other signs of defect ever . My vehicle goes to the dealership constantly and is very well taken care of | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | Unknown |

| Jan 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES | On [XXX] my daughter brought her 2018 Toyota Camry with 62k miles into Mike Calvert Toyota of Houston Texas for brake noise. The service department evaluated the car and recommended that the rear brakes be replaced. With that advice she had the work done. She left the dealership that day and went home and the car sat until the morning of [XXX]. She had some traveling to do out of town and returned that same day. She got within 45 miles of her destination when I got a frantic phone call from her saying that she was traveling at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop. The warning on the vehicle says Low Braking Power. I was able to have her put her hazard lights on a get to the shoulder where she couldn't get her speed below 10 miles per hour. She was able to use the E-break and an elevated surface to get the car to a safe spot some 45 miles away. We have made numerous attempts to get the dealership to tell us why this happened. Initially they stated that the calipers failed. After calling repeatedly we were told it was a defective part that was installed and they needed to get a new one in. The dealership refuses to answer any phone calls or emails. I have appealed to the GM on numerous occasions and the Owner with no replies. We need NHTSA to investigate whether this dealership is doing faulty work that jeopardizes lives or did Toyota fail to recall this vehicle and the issue is more wide spread. I fear for the public safety if the issue is more wide spread. This vehicle was not part recalled for brake issues. The VIN appears to be clear of those recalls. | Jan 2024 | VISIBILITY | The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that upon use of the sunroof, an abnormal clicking sound was coming from the sunroof. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was provided an estimate for the repair. On one occasion, the sunroof remained stuck in the open position and failed to retract as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for repair and remained with the mechanic for a week. The mechanic was able to retract the sunroof; however, the sunroof track remained defective, and the contact was advised to not use the sunroof. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 150,000 |
| Dec 2023 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle independently decelerated to 20 MPH with several unknown warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the vehicle lost braking functionality with the brake pedal being depressed to the floorboard. Despite the failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence, and later had the vehicle towed to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a failed high-pressure fuel pump. The contact had previously received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the dealer stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 90,000 |
| Dec 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | pulling into parking stall in front of a store at a slow speed and my Camry Hybrid unexpectedly accelerated and lurched forward. | Dec 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The xle Camry 2018 models moonroof/sunroof, stops working and there is no safety close option for the moonroof. It gets stuck open and the only option to get it to close is a $10,000 repair. I have extended warranty that will cover this plus 14 days of a car rental, but the dealership cannot guarantee when the parts will be in, so I have approximately more than 30 days for my car to be repaired. So I still have to pay more than $1600 for fees plus car rental and no assistance from Toyota. (this is including there is more than 3 cars at the dealership with the same issue). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Nov 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I am writing this letter because, on August 1, 2023, my wife, and I, were involved in an accident with our 2018 Toyota Camry, which may have been due to SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, a defect which affected Camry owners for over 10 years, and is still happening. Most of these accidents occurred when the driver was pulling slowly into a parking space and their car suddenly accelerated strongly and couldn’t be stopped by hitting the brakes. The car only stopped when it hit a solid object. This often resulted in serious injuries, even death. On August 1, my wife was driving the Camry (I was in the front passenger seat) and she was in the process of slowly pulling into a parking space at Parkside Town Commons in Cary, with her foot on the brake. Without warning, the car suddenly accelerated and she was unable to stop it by hard braking. The car jumped the curb in front of it and climbed a landscaped incline, only stopping when it crashed into a wrought iron fence in front if it. There were no vehicle warning messages prior to the accident. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the Camry had over $6,000 in damages and the fence was bent badly where the car hit it. We called the Cary Police and a Police Report was made. No tickets were issued by the Cary Police. Our Toyota dealer referred us to a higher level Toyota office that deals with special vehicle problems, which we called. We reported the accident, they said it would be reviewed. We have had no response from theToyota higher level office since. Though the damage was repaired, we are very worried that if our Camry has a SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION defect, we could suffer another such accident anytime. It is very critical to have our vehicle inspected for such a flaw, whether in electronics, the throttle, brakes, or anything else. As this problem is an important safety issue, we feel the need to have it checked out. Would appreciate your assistance. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I all of a sudden started smellinggas but could not find any leaking underneath the car, also my car started giving lower mileage. Called the extended warranty and submitted the car to Firestone auto care. They ran a fuel system inspection and found leak. They removed and replaced the the fuel line and fuel pump. They said the can was at risk of catching fire and this is unusual | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | AIR BAGS | The contact owned a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH and attempting to merge into a tuning lane, he collided with another vehicle on his driver's side front end panel. As a result, the vehicle careened to the right over a pedestrian walkway and into a wall. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed, and injuries were reported. The driver went to an area hospital on his own and received an x-ray and treatment for various aches and pains. The other driver was transported to an area hospital and treated for unknown injuries. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 92,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 2 Towed Medical attention | 92,000 |
| Sep 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The fuel door release mechanical system has not been working since the car was purchased. The fuel door release mechanical system has very flimsy parts. I believe that this model and year also had a recall on the fuel pump because of a flimsy part as well. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that after shifting into park, the air condition system was activated, and the engine revved with the RPM elevated. The contact turned off the A/C and then turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was restarted, and the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle inadvertently accelerated at rapid speed then decelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the contact stated that no diagnostic test was performed due to the cost. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact refenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V682000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) as a possible cause for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 47,000 |
| Sep 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Replaced brakes in June on the 19th, 23rd and my brakes are squeaking and goes all the way to the floor sometimes before my brakes actually works. | Sep 2023 | STEERING | Electric power system warning light comes on, indicates a malfunction in the EPS, why is Toyota ignoring this problem, this warning comes on at different times | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Since we bought the vehicle new in late 2018, in hot weather we sometimes see gas running down the side of the car below the filler pipe door, and a little puddle of gas on the rubber just inside the filler pipe door. We can't park the car in our garage because of the gas fumes, and we worry that in a collision, the underlying cause could make a fire more likely. We've had the car to the dealer service department and they can't find a cause. I know from a www search that other Camry owners have had the same problem. The dealership wants us to leave the car with them long enough for them to observe the problem, but we can't handle the financial risk of the service and the car rental while our car is at the garage being monitored for the problem. And of course it is a waste of time trying to get Toyota to take responsibility, which is why we're writing to you. The date entered in this submission is the first time we noticed it (it was the first hot weather since we bought the car). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Low braking power message and | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Car does not accelerate from stop at a traffic light intermittently. THis poses a risk/hazard as the car behind it closes on it and expects the car to move forward . The vehicle was recalled a year ago for a fuel pump that was supposed to cause the same issue. Its been replaced and the issue has shown up again and now cannot be reproduced by the manufacturer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | STEERING | Electric power steering warning light which indicates a malfunction in the EPS system comes on almost every other week. If there is a software update for this problem why Toyota does not fix it? Are they waiting for an accident to happen? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Low break power | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Wipers are too slow to safely see during a downpour of rain - went to dealer - was told nothing was wrong with wiper speed. This is my 4th Toyota and 3rd Camry and all other cars had a faster speed. I noticed this before but thought it was me - but after a 9 hour drive during heavy rain storms - I realized it is the car, | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
