| Jan 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE | I’m hearing impaired and cannot get in contact with Honda online. Recall KCK 22V-867 RVC. I already replaced the item 2 years ago and want Honda to reimburse me for the parts. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | ENGINE | The Honda Ridgeline 2018 has an issue that it burns its transmission fluid really fast to the point that the Truck's transmission starts to judder. This causes the truck to have issues accelerating or changing gears. This happened to me in a 70 MPH highway, when the problem starts you see the RPM gauge fluctuating a lot and the Truck has issues accelerating. This problem was present on the 2017 version of the truck and Honda issued a service bulletin (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10139548-9999.pdf) but this bulletin does not cover any other version of the truck when the same exact problem is still happening. I went to the dealership and they confirmed that the Transmission Judder was there. When you go online other owners of the truck are complaining about the same exact problem: Problem happening on a Honda Ridgeline 2019 - https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/threads/2019-transmission-judder.233046/ Same problem on a Honda Ridgeline 2018 - https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/threads/2018-honda-ridgeline-rtl-transmission-judder.228917/ Another owner with a Honda Ridgeline 2019 with the same problem - https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/threads/transmission-shudder-any-solutions-yet.224260/ There are tons of other owners complaining about the same issue. I would like for Honda to fix this issue and refund me all the money the dealership charged me to fix this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The backup camera has stopped working, at least the imaging part. This makes backing up riskier, especially in parking lots, driveways or where pedestrians may be behind me. I have not been to the dealership yet as it failed today but this seems a common complaint for Ridgeline owners online. I have not had others inspect this problem yet. There was no warning, yesterday worked fine, today it doesn't work. I took a picture of the broken wiring harness at the corner of the tailgate, looks same as what I found online. Truck is a 2018 model with between 70 and 80K miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Rear safety camera does not work and can be inspected. Cannot see via camera when backing up. Has not yet been inspected by anyone but myself and no outside party has yet been contacted. There were no warning signs other than black screen when in reverse. Broken wires can be visibly seen at driver's side tailgate hinge point. Appears to be flawed design that does not allow for sharp bending of wires on repeated usage of tailgate. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER,BACK OVER PREVENTION | The backup camera intermittently works. When put in reverse, sometimes I’ll have a black screen with grid lines, other times just a blank screen. Yes, it is available for inspection. I cannot see persons and property when backing up. I am afraid, in reverse, of running over persons shorter than the vehicle that only the backup camera would pick up. This has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service station. The vehicle has not been inspected by another entity. There has been no warning lights or messages from the vehicle about the issue. I purchased the vehicle in October 2022 and the issue started two weeks after purchase. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The problem revolves around the rear-view camera failing through the normal use of the vehicle. The issue affects 2017-2018 Ridelines, a number of whose owners complain that the screen goes black when they try to reverse. The complaints suggest that the wiring harness going from the main body of the vehicle into the tailgate, where the camera is located, suffers severe damage caused by the normal opening and closing of the tailgate. In my case I've confirmed this is true. Backup cam suddenly stopped working. Inspected wiring to backup cam at back where tailgate is and confirmed wiring is severed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER,BACK OVER PREVENTION | The failed system is the Backup camera and the failure can be inspected. Our safety is compromised because we cannot see objects behind the vehicle before or during backing maneuvers. The damage has been reported and confirmed by the Honda dealer as well as an independent. There was no warning of the failure, one day it worked the next day it did not work. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2022 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The power steering seized, and the contact had to coast to the side of the road. After pulling over, the vehicle was restarted but almost immediately stalled again. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were displayed. The vehicle had been towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V215000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, neither the VIN nor the model year was included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 60,000 |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Rear view camera failed - wiring harness drivers side in tailgate is damaged from normal use. Wires are frayed/cut. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER | Wire harness failed due to pinching in tailgate. This resulted in the rear view camera no longer functioning. Due to the camera failure, I can no longer see behind the vehicle when reversing. This has been inspected by the dealership. Although this is a common issue, they declined to repair it. Cost to repair would be $465 + labor. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The rear camera shows black when shifting into reverse. Upon checking it appears the wire harness that contains the wiring from the camera to the dash is cracked. P/N32109-T6Z-A00. Approximately 40 other vehicles in the 2017-2018 years have experienced the same problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,LANE DEPARTURE | What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Rear camera wire harness has failed. When vehicle is in reverse the screen displays a black image. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Please see attached image. These wires are visible when the tailgate is open. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The rear camera adds tremendous safety information as I reverse the vehicle. In every situation this information is valuable; more so in a neighborhoods like the one I live in. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. I will mention it during my next routine service. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, first signs were the camera would fail sporadically , now almost permanently. Sometimes after opening/closing the tailgate the camera will work until the tailgate is opened again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | Backup camera quit working. Found broken wires in wiring harness, by tailgate hinge. Wire routing is unacceptable, causing this break. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | After a recent Fuel Injector service last week, there is a strong smell of gasoline both in and out of my vehicle. Honda Service technicians report they cannot find the issue and there are no Codes reported upon diagnostic check. However the smell remains and fuel gage needle falls closer to E when the vehicle is parked a few days. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | Backup camera stopped working. Will sometimes work after the tailgate has been opened and closed. Wiring harness from the tailgate to the truck body is frayed and poorly designed for the fold down and swing feature of the tailgate. Poor sightlines on the truck make backing up using the mirrors challenging and stressful. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2022 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The back up camera worked for a few months and all of a sudden stopped. I drove it like that for a month or so hoping it would pop back on but it never did. The fuse wasn't blown and the backup lights worked so I assumed it was getting power. Looking online I saw the posts about the cut wires. Mine were not cut where it usually seemed to be by the swing gate hinge, but it was very pinched. After opening it up I discovered one of the wires had in fact been cut via the pinching. Respliced the wire and the camera came right back on. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | Tailgate wiring harness is broken after warranty had just passed , which caused backup camera not to work | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The backup camera does not work as the wiring harness snapped between the harness's exit from the body and into the tail gate. This is on the left side near the hinges for the tailgate. I reconnected broken wires and camera works again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | BACK OVER PREVENTION | The rear view back up mirror stopped working it is intermittent. I believe the problem is a flaw where the wiring harness goes to the mirror near the hinge on the tailgate. Seems to be what was shown on some sites on the internet. spoke to dealer he said he never heard of the problem kinda blew me off. Hope this government agency can get Honda to fix the problem. Thank You [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I have had 2 windshields crack in this vehicle. I had to have it replaced 2 years ago when a small rock cracked the entire bottom of the glass. The 2nd incident happened on July 2nd, 2022. A rock hit the windshield in the mirror area and caused a huge chip. I do not think this is normal. It sounded like a small explosion when it hit. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
