Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Oct 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE Recently had the fuel pump recall completed. Within days had intermittent dash emissions light come on then go away. Then a few weeks later, while driving, my odyssey put itself into N and I coasted to a stop. It would not allow me to put the car into P or anything. I had to put the emergency brake on in order to not roll forward. The van at that point would not shift into any gear. It was towed to dealership and I was given the following 2K dollar repair needs. PROBLEM. ADVISE. [Other]: TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) AND TRANSMISSION SUB-HARNESS Needs replaced.

Oct 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE I was unable to utilize my cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure or any of the features that is related to the Honda sensing program. I was told by the Honda dealership that it was the camera refocusing and continue to refocus which leads for it to overheat.

Oct 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The camera started malfunctioning and now I have a bunch of warning lights on the dash. I think is crazy that a lot of people have the same issue and still there is no recalls for it. Is a MAJOR safety issue.

Oct 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the message "Engine Management System Failure" was displayed on the instrument panel. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal, with an abnormal clicking sound coming from the vehicle. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that there was a failure with the engine and the transmission. The dealer was then notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN related to the engine or the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

Oct 2025 ENGINE Short Summary (for “Briefly Describe the Problem”) Sudden catastrophic engine failure — engine threw a rod at ~85,000 miles despite proper maintenance and fluid levels. Detailed Description (for “Provide Details of the Incident”) While driving, the vehicle began making a loud noise similar to a helicopter taking off. I immediately took it to a certified mechanic, who diagnosed that the engine had “thrown a rod,” requiring a full engine replacement. The vehicle has approximately 90,000 miles, has been regularly serviced per manufacturer recommendations, and all fluids were at proper levels at the time of failure. There were no warning lights or prior signs of mechanical issues. My mechanic and I contacted Honda to determine if NHTSA Recall 23V-751 applied to my vehicle; Honda confirmed it did not. Despite this, the symptoms appear consistent with known defects covered by that recall. Honda has declined to provide assistance or repair. The sudden and complete engine failure under normal driving conditions, despite proper maintenance, suggests a potential manufacturing or design defect that poses a serious safety risk.

Oct 2025 LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the driver's side sliding door failed to close or latch as designed. The contact stated the vehicle was driven for an hour and a half with the driver's side sliding door open. The contact stated that it was unsafe because the contact's small children were seated in the rear of the vehicle during the failure. The contact changed the fuses; however, the fuses were operable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V795000 (Latches/ Locks/Linkages); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

Oct 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER Today I was driving on my road and there are small hills. I was going around a curve i take every single morning and my car kicks really hard as if it is having trouble changing gears. sometimes it makes loud noise. This has been happening for years now and Honda is not addressing it. There is an issue with the 9 speed transmission in these vehicles that have been dealing with recalls. This makes driving scary and my kids are now scared to drive to school in my vehicle. It needs to be addressed as my family is now noticing how much honda has put us in danger knowing these recalls were not really taken seriously.

Sometimes if i am going around a curve and a car is approaching me on the curve my car will suddenly BREAK and jerk. My kids are very scared to ride with me due to the inconsistences with my acceleration and jerking out of nowhere.

Oct 2025 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Tuesday, September 30 at 8:07 PM I was merging onto the interstate after work and my car would not accelerate properly to allow me to merge with the traffic. This happens way more than it should. Since I got this vehicle it has been doing this and scaring my entire family every time. It happens in car line. It happens when i am already driving with traffic on the interstate and when i try to pass a slow car my car will sometimes not accelerate due to the problematic recall issue that these 2018 9 speed hondas are known for. It puts me in a very scary situation and I dont know what else to do about it.

Sep 2025 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL We purchased our 2018 Honda Odyssey in January of 2024. Since we purchased the car, it regularly hesitates from the stopped position. This regularly yet intermittently causes a safety hazard when turning right into traffic or making a left turn because the acceleration does not work and feels as if it is failing for 2-4 seconds. There is a recall with other models that are the same year and close to with similar issues however ours is not included. I have now reported it to the dealership multiple times and am told they cannot replicate it so they can't help me. I was also told that there is a lag with this engine which causes teh delay but they have no concern. This causes performance issues, and puts me in a precaious situation oten when making a left turn or trying to cross multiple lanes of traffic. This issue really needs to be fixed and covered.

Sep 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Like many other people on the [XXX] forums, our Honda Odyssey has a water leak that dripped onto the Tailgate Control Module, causing it to corrode and stop working. Now, our tailgate door will not open or close electrically, nor even manually using the handle outside. We have to crawl through the vehicle into the trunk, open a trim piece with a screwdriver, and stick our finger into the mechanical parts to disengage the latch to allow the door to open. Safety issues: 1) It's hard to know whether the door is fully closed and latched, so it could pop open while driving. 2) In the event of a car crash or other emergency, we may need to rely on that tailgate door being operational, so it being jammed by a widespread and known problem seems like a predictable life threatening issue. Sep 2025 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while parked on the shoulder of a busy interstate, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was later towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the rod bearings had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000.

This front window camera controls the following safety features: -Lane Keep Assist (LKAS) -Collision Mitigation -Adaptive Cruise control -Lane Departure Mitigation -Rain sensor windshield wipes -Auto High beam -Automatic Emergency Braking In addition to compromising these safety features when the camera fails, false warnings are repeatedly provided on the dash of the Vehicle, sometimes in a singular and sometimes in a cyclic manner.

Sep 2025 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE On September 1, 2025 the front windshield camera on my 2018 Honda Odyssey failed, part #36160-THR-A03-M1, resulting in the loss of many of my vehicle’s safety features including: adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assistance. The camera is available for inspection. Now when I start the vehicle it displays warnings that none of the above safety features are functional. I contacted 2 local Honda dealers, Bellingham Honda and Burlington Honda in Washington State. Both dealers said they could not fix my car since the camera is not available, since it is not in stock and on national back order, with no date of when a new camera would be be available. I have also contacted 2 online Honda parts distributors and they also say the camera is in national back order and not available, with no date of when it would be available. The result is that my vehicle has most of it’s safety systems inoperable and it can not be repaired, since a new camera is not available, and Honda cannot provide me a date when the part is available and my vehicle can be fixed. I see on the internet the front camera failure is a common occurrence in 2018 Honda Odyssey’s and request NHTSA investigate make Honda recall these vehicles to fix the safety problem.

Sep 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Multipurpose camera behind the front windshield was inspected by Honda dealership. They were able to verify it had a fault and needed to be replaced at a cost of around $1700. This camera controls many of the safety features this van advertises such as the the Lane Keep Assist and Collision Mitigation. While researching online, I was able to find multiple owners of the 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey that have had this same issue. Ebay has recently sold 3 of these cameras that have been salvaged from donors. This is an ongoing issue that Honda has not rectified. I believe this should absolutely be recalled.

Sep 2025 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER On [XXX], while driving in traffic, my 2018 Honda Odyssey suddenly and without warning shifted itself into Park. The vehicle slammed to a stop in the middle of an intersection, stranding my family and creating a serious risk of collision and injury. The vehicle would not move afterward and had to be towed from the scene. After the failure, the dashboard displayed multiple warnings: “Transmission Problem,” “Stop Driving When Safe,” “Emission System Problem,” and *“Blind Spot Information System Problem.” The gear shift indicator also blinked. The Odyssey has remained undrivable since the incident. The vehicle is at Stockton 12 Honda in Sandy, Utah, where the dealer confirmed a hard transmission failure (RO #[XXX]). Honda Corporate opened two cases (#[XXX] and #[XXX]). Despite my repeated calls and emails, Honda’s assigned case manager verbally denied coverage on Sept 12, 2025, stating the denial would only be reflected in Honda’s internal case notes. This failure is identical to the defect described in NHTSA Recall 19V-299, in which the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) can reboot due to low voltage and cause the transmission to shift into Park while driving. Although my VIN is not currently flagged, my Odyssey EX-L uses the same ZF 9-speed transmission and TCU as affected trims. I have a tow record, witnesses, and video evidence documenting the event. The vehicle remains disabled, leaving my family without safe transportation. This is a serious safety defect that should require investigation and expansion of the existing recall. Sep 2025 ENGINE I have a 2018 Honda Odyssey, with 66,855 miles. I maintain my vehicle with regularity at my Honda dealership. On [XXX], I was driving home from Las Vegas, NV to Pasadena, CA, when near the state line at Primm, NV, I started hear sounds from my engine and it started losing power. I had to pull over and then had my van towed to a dealership in Las Vegas, NV. The van is available for inspection. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer where i paid for a diagnosis to be performed. The engine light did turn on prior to me noticing the engine problem and a low oil light came on later.
