Sep 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The camera that controls all safety features in my vehicle has an “Internal Failure” this means all my sensors and my dash board is lit up like a Christmas Tree. I took it to the dealership paid for a diagnostic test and found out it was the front camera internal failure, which means all sensors (lane mitigation, braking system, cruise control, automatic dim lights etc), is all not working. HELP please!! As I took it to the dealership even if I pay for the fixing the camera is on National Back Order that being stated it means MANY people are having the same issue, and Honda has no conducted a recall for this HELP us PLEASE!!!

Sep 2023 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL Honda Odyssy 2018- While slowing down and then trying to accelerate does not accelerate and stalls in the lane and requires pumping of accelerator pedal before gear is changed. some time when this happens you can heard grinding noise of gear change. Last time it happened it showed 'Transmission system Problem' and 'Blind Spot Info system Problem' on screen. This is after dealer has looked at the problem and I was told it happened when tech test drove also. Dealer had updated software but it did not fix the issue. This is a safety concern, as if you can not accelerate to maintain the speed of other cars in your lane, cars behind you can get into accident. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Sep 2023 POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE I was driving and all of the sudden the vehicle slowly started losing power. A bunch of lights popped up on the dash and it turns out it was the camshaft and the sensor. The camshaft had been rubbing on the sensor for quite some time causing the engine to malfunction.

Sep 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER I had the MOST recall repair a couple weeks ago, but my backup camera still cuts out and says CHECK TUNER. This does cause a temporary visibility issue when switching to mirrors. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Sep 2023 POWER TRAIN,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE When driving the vehicle on September 8, 2023 LKAS (lane keeping assist problem), collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, blind spot info system problem, auto high beam problem and ACC (adaptive cruise control problem) came on. Pulled over and restarted the car and all warning lights remain. Transmission system problem error is now appearing with the letters blinking on the display. Turn the car off and back on until transmission problem error goes away. Vehicle going in for diagnostics early October. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Sep 2023 POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE Recently started to experience this issue. I have 41,000miles on this 2018 Honda Odyssey. It Jerks & delayed acceleration/hesitation upon acceleration while driving between 20‐35mph on local roads. It happens mostly with slowing down in traffic or upon stopping at stop sign & accelerating again. I am not experiencing this issue with freeway driving. I went to the dealership where I bought the car from. They asked me for $280 to just diagnose the problem, but I refuse to pay for just to diagnose. Currently, I am trying to research out my own. As the dealership has no clue about the issue. Please provide me with any related complaints & resolution for this problem.

Sep 2023 BACK OVER PREVENTION The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V431000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Sep 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that upon opening the electronic tailgate and entering the trunk of the vehicle, an alert sounded, indicating that the tailgate was closing. After closing the tailgate, the tailgate suddenly jerked open, striking the contact. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, who was also unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to assist. The failure mileage was 172,000.

Sep 2023 LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the passenger’s side sliding door failed to latch and lock securely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed with a failed door latch actuator. The contact was informed that the two latches and actuators need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that after researching the failure, she discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V795000 (Latches, Locks, Linkages) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

Sep 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,LANE DEPARTURE The power tailgate on my 2018 Honda Odyssey EX-L started opening and closing on its own, seemingly at random. The latch would not cinch and the gauge cluster reported an opening attempt while driving on the highway. This failure cascaded and ended up bringing every device on the B-CAN network down, including the instrument cluster, heated seats, power sliding doors, ADAS systems including FCW/LDW/LKA and various telltales and buttons on the dash. Upon disassembly of the interior to expose the affected controllers, I discovered that the power tailgate controller was full of water. There was enough water in it to cause arcing of the power and CAN terminals. I traced the ingress path upwards and discovered a crack in the seam sealer on the roof, underneath the left roof rack rail at the very rear of the vehicle. Water enters under the roof rail, drips down the door hinge, then drips down the body to the cup holder and directly into the controller. To remediate I had to replace the damaged controller and apply seam sealer underneath the roof rail at a cost of approximately $200. I called the local dealer to attempt to report this to Honda but was unable to find the appropriate person. Over a dozen people have reported this issue online and there are pictures of the issue. I posted pictures to one of the links referenced below and have additional pictures. I believe this is a manufacturing defect and not caused by age or use of the vehicle and there is strong evidence it affects a lot of people. The issue will be particularly prevalent when the vehicle is parked outside on a downward incline. I work in a related industry on embedded devices that must meet functional safety standards, and I believe an issue like this would lead to a mandatory safety recall. Sep 2023 POWER TRAIN No acceleration when pressing gas at very unsafe times like pulling out from a drive onto road or turning in intersection. I pressed the gas when it was clear to go and the car lagged in acceleration then jolted me out into the middle of the intersection where it lagged again and right before I was about to get T- Boned by another car it accelerated and I was able to make it into my lane last minute. This has happened multiple times but at least 3 times where it put me and my children in imminent danger of getting hit. I have taken it to dealership where they did a reset on some electric part of transmission and said it could take up to 1000 miles to notice a change. So far no change and still experiencing problems. My car also lunges or intensely rocks back and forth when put in park. I hear clunking when shifting at various times. The issues with acceleration make it extremely dangerous when needing to pass vehicles whether on highway or roadway. I do not trust this vehicle but because the dealer sold it over priced mixed with the $13,500 depreciation that has happened within just a year of buying it I am not in a position to get out of it. I am desperately seeking help to get out of this death trap of a car for mine and my children’s sake. I bought this vehicle with appx. 40,000 miles and have had regular maintenance. Currently setting at 82,000 miles. The car has had the same issues since buying it with 40,000 miles that it has today with 82,000 miles. I see where there is a specific recall for 2018-2019 Honda odysseys for this type of problem but my vin is not affected which needs to change as clearly my vin is very much affected.

Sep 2023 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE When idle stop is activated, car will often stall on attempt to restart. Car can then not be started for 5-10 seconds. If the car does not stall, it will often hesitate 2-3 seconds before the engine restarts, leading to multiple near-miss accidents on turns. Electrical warnings will often flash after idle stop, such as "sliding door problem," "collision mitigation malfuction," "anti-theft system malfunction," etc. Battery has been replaced twice with no other remedy offered while in or out of warranty. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Sep 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE When the vehicle’s auto start-stop feature is active, the feature will malfunction causing the engine to not start properly. Instead, the vehicle stalls and must be restarted manually. However, there are many occasions when the vehicle does not start manually either. In these cases, it takes many attempts to restart the vehicle. While these events are happening, the vehicle displays an error message for the auto start-stop feature on the instrument cluster, and the instrument cluster will flicker on and off. The events often occur during the middle of an intersection and attempting to turn in front of oncoming traffic. It creates a very dangerous situation. the vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others because the issue occurs regularly, and the dealership has asked us to come back when the problem is occurring. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. However, there are other Honda vehicles (e.g., Honda Pilot) which have the exact same issue, and a recall has been issued for those vehicles but not the Honda Odyssey.

Sep 2023 LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Honda has a recall notice to repair the rear camera. We took the car in to get the recall service. The camera stopped working. Honda told us the diagnostic to determine what wasn't working on the camera would cost hundreds of dollars. This was recall service that disabled the camera. We should not be charged and they have messed up our car system. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Sep 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM While the van was in motion, the power tailgate unlocked and opened on its own. The dashboard displayed tailgate open warning message. I slowed down and the lock re-engaged to to close the tailgate. It happened again later that evening. Fortunately, I was within city limits, driving about 40 mph.

Aug 2023 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while slowing and then attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the delay was approximately two seconds before the vehicle accelerated as needed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure but no cause for the failure was found. The contact stated that the failure had become progressively worse. The manufacturer was not yet contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Aug 2023 POWER TRAIN I scheduled a transmission flush service. After driving i noticed a jerking motion at about 25mph. Took back to honda and they charged me again to do another flush. Issue still persists.Service advisor said may be the transmission. Researching on line seems many have had problems with this transmission model. I knew another flush was not going to fix the issue but dealership was able to make an additional $283. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Aug 2023 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The automatic emergency braking system (AEB) the Collision Mitigation Braking System or “CMBS.” Ingaged and Stopped the van four (4) times when there where no obsticals in front of the van. Aug 2023 POWER TRAIN The transmission in my 2018 Honda Odyssey clunks and shutters and jerks forward when accelerating and jerks slow down when decelerating. Stop and go traffic I either can barely accelerate or rapidly accelerate after upshidting and almost hit the car in front of me. The transmission shudders and clunks and jerks Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Aug 2023 POWER TRAIN When accelerating from a stopped position, the car occasionally hesitates and then suddenly surges, especially when turning into traffic with vehicles fast approaching. After hesitating, the car accelerates rapidly with the tires screeching. Similarly, when travelling at slow speed, perhaps 40 MPH, and accelerating into a neighboring lane, the car quits accelerating for a brief moment before rapidly accelerating again. I can hear the transmission clunk occasionally as it selects another gear. It's as if the electronic communication between the engine and the transmission is lagging. The Honda dealer indicated the transmission and engine are fine. The brief second or two acceleration delay before overreacting has been embarrassing and I fear dangerous. The car has always behaved this way but it has gotten worse the last couple years. Currently have 54k miles.

Aug 2023 POWER TRAIN My 2018 Honda EX-L RES has ZF 9 speed transmission and noticed following safety issues. 1. When I stop at the stop sign or red lights, then I push a gas pedal to take off right away the transmission is not engaged, rather booming sound and 3 second after it squeals the tire. It is very dangerous when I make right turn after I stop as cars in the main lanes may have hit me as my transmission does start right away. 2. When I drive local in 20-30 mph, the gear is 2,3 and 4 and the gear is shifting down hardly when I am off the gas pedal and it make my card terriblely slow down as I feel like I push the stop pedal and cars behind me honks as they think I doing a sudden stop.

Jul 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE After rainfall water is leaking into the rear fuse box compartment located behind the 3rd row seats and causing the tailgate control module and other parts to fail. The tailgate does not have any power and cannot be opened or closed with the fob or the push buttons located in the tailgate or in the dashboard area. The tailgate cannot be locked as the latch does not engage and it can be very risky to drive the vehicle as the tailgate might come open while driving. There might be some opening on the roof of the vehicle from where water is leaking into the fuse compartment and causing this hazardous situation. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2023 ENGINE In two separate incidents, my vehicle stalled when it tried to restart after being in Auto Idle Stop mode. In both incidents, I was stopped at an intersection where I was making an unprotected left turn. As I was stopped, the Auto Idle Stop mode activated on my Honda Odyssey which turned off the engine. When it was clear to make a left turn, I lifted my foot off the gas which disabled Auto Idle Stop mode. As my engine tried to restart, it stalled. I was able to get it to restart but only after being stalled in traffic for several seconds causing other drivers to honk at me. When my engine restarted, several warning lights lit up on my dashboard for about a second and a warning alarm sounded. Since they were illuminated for such a short period and I was actively trying to clear the intersection, I was not able to see which lights they were but I do remember that one of the lights that lit up in the first incident was the sliding door warning light. The first incident happened in May 2023 when I had about 99,000 miles on my van. The second incident happened in July 2023 with approximately 101,000 miles on my van. The problem happens at seemingly random times and has not been able to be reproduced. There were no other warnings prior to the problem happening. Since my van randomly stalled in the middle of an intersection, I believe this problem posed a safety risk to myself and my occupants as well as other drivers near me. Had I not been able to get my van restarted, I would have been at risk of being hit by oncoming cars. Even the few-second delay in restarting could have been catastrophic had an oncoming car been approaching quickly. I have had no issues with the starter on my van or with issues stalling other than these incidents. The stalls have only occured when coming out of Auto Idle Stop mode. Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently deactivate this mode. It automatically turns on each time I start up my car.
