| Jun 2026 | AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle hit a pothole, and an unknown airbag unexpectedly deployed. The contact stated there was no injury sustained. The contact was notified that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V227000 (Air Bags). The contact stated that the dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 79,000 |
| Jun 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Recall 23V-431 (Honda 23-046) was previously performed on my vehicle to address MOST communication network failures affecting the infotainment system and backup camera. Despite the recall being marked complete, I continued experiencing intermittent infotainment failures. Symptoms include “Network Connection Lost” messages, complete loss of the center display, audio failure, Apple CarPlay disconnects, system resets, and loss of the backup camera while reversing. The failures frequently occur while driving over bumps, during turns, and recently while backing into a parking space. Because the issue persisted, I sought a second opinion from another Honda dealer. During their inspection, they advised that required portions of Recall 23-046 had not been completed by the original dealership that performed the recall. The service advisor informed me that system history had not been cleared, a factory cable reset had not been performed, and the audio unit had not been properly initialized. In a follow-up text message, the advisor described the situation as a “workmanship error” by the original dealership. The remaining recall procedures were completed, however the same symptoms returned immediately afterward. The center display, audio, Apple CarPlay, and backup camera continue to intermittently fail. I have incurred diagnostic expenses and out-of-pocket repair costs attempting to resolve this issue. My concern is that the original recall repair may not have been properly completed and that the same safety-related symptoms addressed by Recall 23V-431 continue to occur, including loss of backup camera functionality while reversing. I am submitting this complaint because I am concerned that the recall remedy was not properly performed and that the safety defect addressed by the recall may still be present. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS | Since November 2025, multiple safety warning lights have illuminated upon starting the vehicle, indicating malfunctions within the Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist systems. Two separate dealerships, Reseda Honda and Woodland Hills Honda, conducted independent diagnostic tests. Both service centers confirmed the root cause is an internal failure of the front multipurpose camera. Consequently, the vehicle has lost critical active safety features, leaving the occupants unprotected and significantly compromising the vehicle's safety on the road. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The auto idle stop (AIS) system is not working. When it stops the car at a red light, it fails to restart the car. I have to shift back into park and restart the car. That is a potentially dangerous situation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Driver side sliding door is can not open/ failed to open. Life gate door failed to operate. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | My 2018 Honda Odyssey with just under 59,000 miles is showing the following warnings: - ACC - Adaptive Cruise Control Problem - Collision Mitigation System Problem - Auto High-Beam Problem - Road Departure Mitigation System Problem - Lane Keep Assist Problem. Using a code scanner, the ECU reports error U3000-49, which seems related to the Multi-Purpose Camera Unit used for all these functions. Given that this camera is used in the various safety features listed above, the current condition presents an unsafe condition for my vehicle, which has less than 59,000 miles of being driven. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20-30 mph, the rear passenger side airbags unexpectedly deployed deployed without any impact. The vehicle warning that a collision occurred illuminated after the airbag deployed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 80,000 |
| Jun 2026 | ENGINE | I own a 2018 Honda Odyssey 3.5L V6 and while my wife and 9 year old daughter were driving down the highway at 70mph that car decided to throw a rod throw the bottom of the motor leaving my family stranded on the roadside with no motor oil left in the car. This is a known issue for the 2018 Honda Odyssey but only for certain VIN numbers. I think it's pretty clear from all of the online complaints from this same year that it's not only those VIN numbers. We have always replaced the oil at 3,500 miles with Mobile 1 syntenic 0w-20 and always check the oil level to make sure none is missing. For the car to just throw a rod at 157k miles is pretty concerning as this will require a entire engine replacement out of pocket cost as Honda will not take ownership of this even though this year and model is known to have issues. I would like to see more VIN numbers added to their recall because this isn't fair to the people who buy a car for reliability and are left stranded on the roadside for a known issue they are not being forced to stand behind and make right. PLEASE HELP ME | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal as the check engine and several other various warning messages appear on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for service; however, the dealer was unable to diagnose or duplicate the failure. The contact then stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the vehicle suddenly downshifted and failed to shift out of neutral(N). The contact pulled over and attempted to correct the failure; however, the vehicle shut off. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the diagnosed the vehicle with a failed torque converter and transmission. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was given a case number. The vehicle remained in the dealer's possession and was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 80,000 |
| Jun 2026 | AIR BAGS | I was travelling on a two lane surface road with a speed of 45 mph, travelling at or below posted speed and just starting to slow to make a right hand turn when I encountered / wandered over the solid white line into a pothole at the edge of the road where there is no shoulder. Airbags on the passenger side including the sidecurtain and airbag inside the passenger seat deployed instantly. There was no collision and no deployment of the front passenger airbag or any other bags in the vehicle. There was an immediate call from Honda regarding the airbag deployment along with an automated notification to local police. Police in [XXX] responded and made a report and created a case number: #[XXX] I had a passenger in the front seat at the time who received a facial laceration, bruises to the right arm and hip. This is part of a known recall for this model and year of vehicle. Police and local dealership ( Casey Honda of XXX [XXX] ) have both confirmed visually that the airbags have deployed. No warnings, lights preceded the event. I just received the letter in the last few days regarding the recall. Honda has issued a case number for the incident: #[XXX]. I will be following up Honda for an inspection of other accident sensor and systems for safety which can be affected by the deployment. | May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | COMPONENT: Power Liftgate Control Module (PTG module). Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. WHAT HAPPENED: On approximately April 7, 2026, while driving in rain, a "Power Tailgate Problem" warning appeared on the instrument cluster. Following that event, all powered liftgate operation became permanently inoperable — interior button, exterior button, and key fob all failed. CAUSE: An authorized Honda dealer confirmed in writing (service invoice, May 1, 2026): "Power Liftgate Control Unit has corrosion from water leak." The water intrusion originates from defective factory polyurethane seam sealer on the rear drip rail — a known manufacturing defect on 2018-2019 Odysseys documented in Honda TSB MC-10152401. SAFETY RISK: The same water intrusion that destroys the PTG module is documented to cause the liftgate to open unexpectedly while driving, posing a direct hazard to occupants and other motorists. NHTSA is already investigating this issue across 2018-2022 Odysseys. WARNING SYMPTOMS: "Power Tailgate Problem" warning on instrument panel cluster appeared during rain exposure prior to full failure. MANUFACTURER RESPONSE: American Honda Motor Co. declined to cover the repair under goodwill despite the dealer-confirmed defect, an active TSB, and an ongoing class action lawsuit (2018-2021 Odysseys) for this exact issue. Honda has not issued a recall. Estimated repair cost: $691 (module) plus body seam repair. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION | The vehicle started to have failing sensors all of a sudden. I tried a new battery but the codes returned. all ADAS systems tied to the camera module all went out. I had 5-7 warning lights for all driving functions. additionally the seat belt buckle is not always clicking in properly. the belt about half the time is not retained in the buckle section. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS | Vans forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking occurred when no vehicle was in-front of the van. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While the vehicle is in motion, it is loudly beeping that there is a problem with the rear tailgate and that it is open when it is closed. This is due to manufacturing defect wherein water is getting into the tailgate control module and ruining the electronics. This is making the tailgate unusable as it will not open and just reads off the error message. This is a well documented issue all over the internet on these vans and Honda should recall the vehicles to fix this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ENGINE | 2018 Honda Odyssey with 3.5L engine, Honda dealership diagnosed engine noise to worn/failed connecting rod bearing. Vehicle has 109,000 miles. Noise started within last 6 months. No other symptoms experienced. Oil services and other maintenance performed per maintenance minder using fully Synthetic MobileOne oil and extended life filter. Pictures and bearing measurements from tear down and diagnosis show significant bearing wear beyond normally expected wear for vehicle with only 109k miles. clearly not normal wear, and is consistent with failure seen on other Honda rod bearing stories for 3.5 L engines. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Rear hatch latch failure. Seal failure resulting in water leak, causing electronic failure. Risk off items falling out of vehicle causing road hazards. Independent repair shop unable to diagnosis/repair. Dealer able to make repairs as they were familiar with the problem, had made many similar repairs. No warning lamps prior to issue, light/alarm when issued occurred. Honda Corporate customer service declined “goodwill” repair. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The possibility of causing an accident. The incident has not been confirmed by a reputable dealer. Also, it has not been inspected by a reputable Honda dealer. there has not been any warning lights on regarding the delayed transmission shifting. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact stated that the vehicle stalled, the engine did not start, multiple warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle had an issue previously with loud noises and slow acceleration and the vehicle taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with a high pressure and low pressure fuel pump failure and was repaired at the time. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic a second time where it was diagnosed as a fuel pump failure. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate 147,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 147,000 |
| May 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Experiencing problems similar to recall 23V-43. | May 2026 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle experiencing loss of power especially on hills and when attempting to pass on highway. Experiencing difficulty starting drive from full stop. Slow ignition start. Occurs daily. Known fuel pump issue in year/make/ model, however VIN is not included in the safety recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE | Water is leaking through back tailgate every time it rains. Water pools on the back floor and gets into the tailgate control unit. As a result, mold has grown on the floors and water has gotten into the power tailgate control unit causing my tailgate to stop opening and propping up (I have to manually hold the heavy door while lifting items out). This has caused electrical problems with cruise control and several lights blinking on and off my dashboard throughout the duration while driving. I have had the engine and transmission all tested and everything is working properly in that regard. The conclusion is that these electrical malfunctions are due to water damage. I have already had the control unit replaced once a year ago. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
