Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Aug 2024 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE 2018 Honda Odyssey failed transmission systems. This vehicle had recalls in regard to TCM module and softwares in past. Normally transmission system should last well over 150,000 miles for this type of vehicle. My car failed at 74000 miles. That too without any advanced warning. Vehicle was maintained and serviced at same dealership regularly where it was purchased. Honda is claiming its outside their 60000 mile powertrain warranty. Honda expects me to pay over 10,000 dollars for repair. I believe my vehicle is having issues with transmission related to TCM module recall of 2019 and Recall 04v176 of 2023. Honda is refusing to look in to possibility of my vehicle's issue could possibly related to those recalls. I believe those recalls need to be looked at and my vehicle should have been involved in those recalls. I have documented proof for all services performed and current vehicle inspection report.

Jul 2024 POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE My 2018 Honda Odyssey doesn't have any current vehicle recalls but it's is experiencing the engine stall while driving, the power sliding floors not locking properly and the power trunk making a grinding noise when it opens and closes. I had the vehicle inspected at the local Honda dealership and they told me there was nothing they could do about the vehicle stalling, the power doors not closing and the trunk grinding. From releasing the brake and pressing the gas, the vehicle will stall and then spin the tires as if I'm racing or burning rubber.

Jul 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Current recall on vehicle. Been on the waitlist since end of December 2023. Contacted local dealership multiple times and they are unable to get part in. The vehicle has been showing engine light more often. Struggles to start occasionally.

Jul 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Vehicle stalls when pulling out into traffic! Terrifying with my 6 kids and I'm immediately getting rid of this vehicle. Tried to have the fuel pump (current recall) replaced but Honda dealership has the vehicle for 6 DAYS! and still didn't have the part in. Upon dropping the vehicle off the tailgate lift would not work properly. This van is a load of garbage since they started using so many modules to control it! Extremely disappointed in Honda. They know all of these faulty parts and don't care enough to fix them for the safety of the consumer. Absolutely horrifying the direction of the automobile industry.

Jul 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE 1.5 weeks after servicing vehicle at the dealership (oil change and tire rotation) Warning lights come on beeping upon starting vehicle. The following systems are malfunctioning... -collision mitigation syatem problem -adaptive cruise Control problem -lane keep assistance problem -road departure mitigation system problem -auto high beam problem. This also removes any ability to use regular cruise control in any capacity (even without adaptive cruise control on) Honda certified mechanic diagnosed code : U3000-49 as a bad Multipurpose Camera Unit. Parts alone cost $1,200 then labor and cost to calibrate (which must be done at dealer). The cost of this repair to MAJOR safety features would be over $2,000. This is a safety related issue that should be recalled immediately. We do not currently feel safe in our 2018 Honda Odyssey, nor do we have $2,000 to complete this repair. Our research (a few screenshots attached) of this malfunction of the Multipurpose Camera Unit shows widespread issues on 2018 odysseys in particular. To me that warrants an investigation and recall. A dealer actually told me "you don't need those features to drive the vehicle". Well, we don't NEED a backup camera and it was recalled. Why? Because we don't want to run over small children. I would like to be able use ALL safety featured on my vehicle. This isn't an entertainment system. It is the major safety feature on our family vehicle, which we saved for years to purchase. We ask that Honda consider the safety ramifications of NOT recalling this malfunctioning camera unit and do the right thing in issuing a recall.

Jul 2024 FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle stalled, and the brakes seized inadvertently. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure recurred on another occasion. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the failure could not be replicated. Additionally, the contact stated that the Lane Departure and other Forward Collision Avoidance warning lights were illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while making a turn from a complete stop, the vehicle responded, but suddenly stalled. The contact continuously depressed the accelerator pedal until the vehicle responded. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact related the failure to the recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall repair; however, the dealer informed the contact that a diagnostic test was needed prior to the recall repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provide no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

Jul 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE My vehicle started to show warning: Collision MitigationSystem Problem/ Road Departure Mitigation System Problem/ Adaptive Cruise Control Problem / Lane Keeping Assist Problem/ Auto High-Beam Problem. I took it back to Honda dealership and was told the Multipurpose Camera is damaged and needed to be changed. They asked if I have a vehicle accident and I told them I HAVE NOT BEEN IN ONE. I don’t understand why this just starts up all of a sudden and have seen other people complaining of this same problem.

Jul 2024 ENGINE Knocking noise began so I took it to a Honda dealership. They said I have a “lower knock noise” and need a new engine because a bearing went out for a rod which could cause my engine to seize. Though there is a recall for some 2018 odysseys, I’m being told mine isn’t covered. Apparently there are many more people with the same vehicle and the same issue as me. I’d like to see this included in the recall

Jul 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The lane keep assist function via the monocam behind the windshield has failed causing an alert to show up a few minutes into driving that none of the systems related to it are functional. This appears to be a widespread problem amongst owners of the 2018 Odyssey. Additionally, Honda service centers are acting like this is a surprise to them but searching online will results many individuals with the same issue and then being charged 1300-2000 to fix it. Since the features are all safety related I assumed this was where I should submit this. Please let me know if this is not the case. Jul 2024 ENGINE When driving the engine starting making a loud metallic noise. The engine also was not operating as it should have been. This occurred in early March 2023. I was able to slowly drive it to the Honda dealership in Glenwood Springs and when I stopped the engine stopped, I was unable to restart it. After several weeks, the Honda dealership stated it needed a new Engine. Initially I was quoted around 12k, then they offered a good will discount and we got the replacement to be around 6k. In late 2023, I saw that there was a recall on 2018 Honda Odysseys for an engine defect that could cause the engine to "run improperly or stall while driving." This is essentially what happened to me, but my vehicle is not on the recall list limiting Honda's requirement to fully cover the cost of replacing the engine.

Jul 2024 FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had experienced the failure, causing the vehicle to intermittently lose motive power while driving at various speeds. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The failure mileage was 50,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

Jun 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE During my recent recall repair by Ed Morse Honda in Riviera Beach, FL, I was advised that the rear tailgate sensor was reported as "wet". I do the maintenance myself, so I passed on a repair at that time by the dealer. Today, I researched what might have failed both online and with my Alldatadiy subscription, and accessed the part. Indeed, the Liftgate Control Module was molded and need of repair/ replace. However, I have grandchildren now, and during the removal - realized that in a water accident or other hazard where power is lost, there is NO WAY for rear passengers to exit the van by the rear tailgate. There is NO readily accessible latch or pull to open the tailgate from the inside, and NO key nor latch available from the outside for outside assistance. Additionally, if a child is in need of exiting the rear tailgate, there is NO child safety pull to allow them to exit. During my research on how to repair the vehicle, I saw that this is an ongoing issue for this model of Honda. I like my 2018 Honda Odyssey very much, it is my second Odyssey (the first was totaled in a T-bone accident, where both wife and daughter walked away), but I believe a recall is needed for the water issue affecting the Tailgate Control Board for the short term, and safety mechanisms added for the long term. Note: I have images, but the web site is NOT allowing uploads of any .jpg nor .pdf's at this time. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jun 2024 AIR BAGS The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front passenger’s and rear passenger’s side air bags deployed without a crash or an impact. The contact stated that the front passenger’s seat and rear passenger’s seat were damaged due to the air bags deploying. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 103,000.

Jun 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE 2018 Honda Odyssey front camera failures. We bought it brand new and found out today that front multipurpose camera was not working properly. There are bunches of warning lights popped up on dashboard: LCC, LKAS… problems. I went to Google and Facebook to see there were so many people have the same problem particularly with this 2018 models. Dealership wanted $1800 to replace camera and they know that was Honda technical issues, not in customers control.

Jun 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE collision mitigation system activates when over 45 mph and there is a car next to you at about a 2 o clock angle from the van. Jun 2024 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The forward camera malfunctions and causes the Cruise Control, Lane Assist, and Emergency Breaking to be inoperative.
