| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The power tailgate has a failure. I took my minivan to a local mechanic who said the motor has failed. I tried to see if I could do the repair myself and came across a number of forums and YouTube videos that detail this is a known, reoccurring issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The problem began when the car was started after sitting for a few days. The ADAS system has intermittent loss. System will go offline than can recover only to go out again.. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Front facing camera malfunctioning, and it is available for inspection upon request. This malfunction causing 5 different warning lights to show up on dashboard. Including 1.) Auto high beam problem, Lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, road departure mitigation problem. The issue has been confirmed by the dealer. There were no warning lights prior to the random malfunction. I have not had wind shield replaced (which I have read could mean a calibration of the camera issue), nor has there been any accidents taken place. My safety is at risk as I am unable to use these features while driving unless the front camera is replaced. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that an abnormal sound was coming from the engine. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the engine had failed. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the spun rod bearing had fractured, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while diving at 30 MPH around a bend, the Forward Collision Avoidance warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and an unknown part was greased. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 92,000 |
| Mar 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH on the highway, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle failed to accelerate above 40 MPH. There was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the engine. The contact restarted the vehicle. The engine, steering assist, and battery warning lights became illuminated. The low engine oil message was displayed. The contact checked the oil level, and the oil was sufficient. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the long block needed to be removed and replaced. There was metal in the oil. The mechanic recommended an engine replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that previously, while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was a misfire coming from the engine. The engine had overheated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Hoehn Honda Carlsbad (5454 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92008,) and an undisclosed repair was performed. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 126,000 |
| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Failure of the tailgate module and blind spot sensor simultaneously. Electrical issues previously fixed due to water infiltration and this seems to be a recurring issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The contact discovered that there was oil leaking from underneath the vehicle and that there was a hole in the engine block. The contact researched and was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,849. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 105,849 |
| Mar 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | The multipurpose camera on the windshield needs to be recalibrated and I've been told by dealerships that this is a common problem with 2018 Honda Odyssey. Unless I pay over $2000 to have the camera recalibrated, systems including the antilock brake system do not work. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | VISIBILITY | The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while his wife was dropping off their son at school, the sunroof was open, and the close button was depressed while the son’s hand was hanging out of the sunroof. The sunroof proceeded to close, and the sensors did not prevent the sunroof from continuously attempting to close. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that his wife was forced to push up on the sunroof to free her son's hand, and in the process received a minor cut on her right hand, while the son sustained bruising on his right hand. Medical treatment was needed for the injury. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the sunroof assembly was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 2 Medical attention | 111,000 |
| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Auto engine stop feature shuts off the vehicle when engaged. When the vehicle comes to a complete stop at a light or in heavy traffic, the auto engine stop feature will engage but the engine will not restart. The only way to restart the engine is to shutoff the vehicle, open and close the drivers door, then restart the car. This problem has been occurring for a few years. We have brought the vehicle to a dealer but they say nothing is wrong. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | During rain and snow storms I will get warning lights that the power tailgate isn’t working. Last year when I took it into the dealer they said the tailgate would open and close randomly and there was water in the rear fuse box. I thought I fixed the issue by replacing all the wires from the rear all the way to the front. They fixed my tailgate and did water testing to make sure no water was coming in through the tailgate and all was great. Fast forward to this year and the middle of February we had an all day snow and rain storm and I start having these same warning lights along with a couple others. By the end of the day the tailgate completely stops working. I take it back to the shop that had originally fixed it and water is getting in. Not from the tailgate but through some unknown opening. The fuse board is completely corroded and we have to replace it again. They could not determine where the water is coming in from. I do not want to be driving down the road and have my tailgate randomly open and have items fall on the road causing injury to someone. Nor do I want to have to pay $1000 to fix the circuit board every time it rains or snows. I live in Utah it happens frequently. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | 2018 Power Tailgate Failure from Body Leak Tailgate stopped working. I read so many owners have the same problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My right sliding door stalls intermittently. It won’t open or close. My dashboard will read right sliding door problem. This has happened intermittently over the past 6-8 months. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | AIR BAGS | During a normal drive on city road, the right side airbag and copilot passenger seat airbag both activate with no collision or agitation of the vehicle. Vehicle was sent to dealership for inspection; data transmitted to Honda USA. Honda USA replied that it is normal for airbag to activate even if there is no collision; Honda said even a speed bump could activate the airbag. Honda has refused to investigate further or compensate my repair. During the incident, the car was not going through any speed bump; it was just on a normal flat city road. There was no prior warning signs in the car. It could have caused significant personal injuries had my kids were sitting next to the airbag explosion because the bags activated with.no collision; there is no counterforce to the airbag thus it would thrust straight into a person. Luckily my kids were not in those seats at the time. It took so long to file to NHTSA because Honda had been very unresponsive after hearing my case, it took Honda half a year to inform me they are not doing any corrections or compensation to this incident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Improper seal on exterior driver side roof near trunk lift gate. Allows water inside during heavy rain or when going through a car wash and the water damages the control module for the power tailgate. Damage to the control module cuts off any use of the tailgate, even manually. This is a $900+ repair due to a MANUFACTURER ERROR | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | STRUCTURE | Both of the manual passengers back doors will not fully close and lock. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The power tailgate opened by itself while I was driving on high way at around 60mph. Later it stopped working/won't open and the car battery died as well. Went to Honda dealership for a Diagnosis and found a water leakage on the roof of the back, causing the tailgate control module to be burned out by water damage. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ENGINE | On this 2018 Honda Odyssey, at 93000 miles, an abnormal noise started to occur under acceleration. Dealer diagnostic indicated the noise is coming from the bottom end of the engine, likely from the rod bearings. The dealer indicated that this specific VIN number is not included in the current Honda recall, however is exhibiting same symptoms. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | The front facing monocular camera has failed and my 2018 odyssey has less than 55k miles on it. Without the operation of this camera you cannot use the cruise control and the dash lights up with all kinds of warnings (lane mitigation failure, acc failure, brake light continuously on). This is a known faulty safety feature that is far to common for the newer odyssey models. This is ridiculous that Honda has put this system into their vehicles, in particular the odyssey and there needs to be a service bulletin to repair this issue or recall completely. It is obviously a faulty part and needs to be resolved. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ENGINE | My 2018 family van purchased brand new. Exclusively serviced at dealer. Immaculately maintained records kept. Driving 70 mph on toll road while driving to dealer for service, car lost power and had to be towed remainder of the way. 100k service done at dealer, 40k miles later car had to be towed back to dealer due to broken rods. Honda says my vin# not effected yet car is inoperable for exact issue with open recall effecting rods. Recall states cars effected produced 2015-2020. Honda offered for us to pay $10k for new engine and they would cover remaining $4k. We do not believe we should get stuck with larger portion of payment when Honda has a known issue with part. Research on line states many more cars affected than the 250,000 initial recall. We appreciate NHTSA’s 2nd probe into this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | 2018 Odyssey Elite with 43k miles. Apparently, the front facing camera failed and if the camera fails -- which seems to have been reported by many other owners -- it's about a $1700 fix from a dealer. Not only should the camera not fail, but this is happening to cars that are low miles, low use, and the failure affects all camera-related safety features of the vehicle: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, parking collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The circuit board for the module that controls the power lift gate is damaged from water. Water seeps in the roof rail and wets the panel causing the the power tailgate to lock shut and unable to be opened. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Multiple warnings occurred simultaneously for the "brake system" intermittent. I have the same issue per [XXX] for my Honda Odyssey 2018 elite. I can see the same problem by a lot of people. I told Honda and paid them $220 diagnosis fees and they ended up asked me to change the whole camera that cost 4k. This obviously defect issue from Honda. Looks like known issue for this. Can this escalate back to Honda? For example [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2025 | POWER TRAIN | My 2018 Honda Odyssey experienced a heavy snowfall in January 2025. The control panel displayed an alarm, Power Tailgate Problem , and the trunk door could not be opened. I asked a professional who pointed out that it is usually due to water intrusion into the control unit located on the rear driver's side body panel, which causes the tailgate to fail to open, close normally, or even open accidentally. They believe that this is a manufacturing defect caused by the manufacturer and there is a safety hazard. For safety reasons, I went to the dealer for an inspection. They said they could not find the cause but that the control panel was broken and needed to be replaced. I had to spend a lot of money to replace it. But I still think that the problem was caused by the manufacturer itself. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Feb 2025 | STRUCTURE | There is water leaking in the body which damages the power tailgate control module located at the rear driver side. the tailgate doesn’t open and endanger people inside in case there is any accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
