Jul 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES The DIC and infotainment both change settings on their own. It will change radio stations or call people on the infotainment and the DIC will change information displayed. The safety issue is it will also flash that the trailer has been disconnected/connected and when it thinks the trailer has been disconnected the trailer brakes will fail to function. It is a known problem with the display issue but I am unaware of any reports on trailer brake function. I have had a few serious conditions on two trailers when the truck does not recognize the trailer being connected and fails to apply the brakes.

Jul 2021 SERVICE BRAKES The trailer brake control module stopped working on the interstate while pulling a 37' fifth wheel camper. This defective part caused the truck to not have any electric brakes on the camper. A warning message appeared on the dash. A new trailer brake control module fixed the problem. Since the vehicle was out of warranty (37,878 miles) the part was not covered by the dealer. The dealership where the part was purchased informed me that it was a common problem. This problem occurred while traveling at 65 miles per hour. There was only the truck brakes to stop the camper without the trailer brakes working. This is a serious problem and should be addressed.

Safety was put at risk due to having a vehicle which could have a sudden radiator failure and permanently damage the vehicle. The Dealership I had my radiator replaced at would not state if they have had this issue occur often. No warning lamps or messages prior to the radiator losing 1.5 gallons of coolant. Apr 2021 POWER TRAIN WHEN COMING TO A FULL STOP, THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFT REALLY HARD. IT MAKES THE VEHICLE JERK FORWARD. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE GOING UP HILL/DOWNHILL OR ON A FLAT ROAD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AT 4K MILES FOR THIS REASON AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A KNOWN CHEVY ISSUE BUT THAT THEY HAD NO WAY OF FIXING IT.I TOOK IT BACK A SECOND TIME AT 5K AND WAS TOLD THE JERKINESS AND POOP THE TRANSMISSION DOES IS A GM DEFECT DESIGN BUT THAT THEY HAD NO WAY OF FIXING. DEALER SAID OTHER OWNERS HAVE INSTALLED A 3RD PARTY SINGLE PIECE DRIVE SHAFT WITH ANGLE SPACERS BUT THAT WAS NOT COVERED BY GM WARRANTY. DEALER ESSENTIALLY WANTED ME TO FIX THE HARSH SHIFTING AND CLUNKINESS BY GOING WITH AN AFTER MARKET PARTS PROVIDER. A WORK AROUND THAT HAS SEEM TO MAKE THE ISSUE MORE BEARABLE IS PUTTING THE TRUCK IN 'TOW MODE' IT SMOOTHS THE RIDE OUT BUT IT TENDS TO MAKE THE TRANSMISSION RUN ABOUT 20'40 DEGREES HOTTER

Mar 2021 POWER TRAIN TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, A WARNING LIGHT INDICATING THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS OVERHEATING ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND TURNED-OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUED DRIVING. THE WARNING LIGHT DISAPPEARED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO PENDARVIS CHEVROLET COMPANY, INC. (650 AUGUSTA RD, EDGEFIELD, SC 29824, (803) 639-8117) WHO FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION AND REMOVED THE THERMOSTAT AND PLUGGED ONE LINE DIRECTLY TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHO THEN REPAIRED THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT WOULD ATTACH A LOAD TO THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER A THIRD TIME HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.

Mar 2021 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, A LOUD SQUEALING SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE VICINITY OF THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. WHILE UNDER THE OEM BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTED PERIOD, CHEVROLET DEALER NUMBER ONE WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM OR REPAIR IT. FURTHERMORE, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT REPORTED IN THE VEHICLE HISTORY AS REPORTED. A SHORT PERIOD LATER, CHEVROLET DEALER NUMBER TWO WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM AND REPAIR IT AT MY PERSONAL EXPENSE AS THE WARRANTED EXPIRED ON TIME AS OPPOSED TO MILEAGE. I LEARNED THAT THE SAME PROBLEM WAS A PART OF A PREVIOUS RECALL WHICH DEALT WITH FAILURE OF THE BRAKE ASSIST PUMP. GM RECTIFIED THE RECALL BY CHANGING THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE TO OVERDRIVE THE PUMP BEYOND IT'S ORIGINAL DESIGN SPEED. THIS PROVIDED AN INCREASE IN PRESSURE WHICH TEMPORARILY CORRECTED THE FAILURE. THE CORRECTIVE ACTION ADDED MORE STRESS TO THE ORIGINAL DESIGN OF THE PUMP AND NOW THE PUMP IS MECHANICALLY FAILING AS A RESULT. THIS FAILURE COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN IMMEDIATE UNEXPECTED BRAKE FAILURE POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN FRONTAL COLLISION AND LOSS OF LIFE!. THE DEALERS HAVE NOT PROVIDED COPIES OF SERVICE ORDERS OR REPLACED PARTS. I ONLY HAVE RENTAL AGREEMENTS TO SUBSTANTIATE THAT SOMETHING WAS DONE TO THE VEHICLE. GM'S CUSTOMER CARE IS INVESTIGATING THE UNPRECEDENTED BEHAVIOR OF THE FRANCHISED DEALERS WITH NO REPLY TO ME AT THIS TIME.

Feb 2021 POWER TRAIN,STRUCTURE,SERVICE BRAKES TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND FAILED. ACTED LIKE IT BOUND UP. THIS HAPPENED DURING A NORMAL SHIFT SEQUENCE, ACTED TIGHT THEN ENGINE JUST KEPT OVER REVVING. HAPPENED ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AGO. DEALER FIXED FOR FREE. SAID IT WAS COMMON. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AT 60K MILES. SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY IT AS THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. SUGGESTED I BUY ANOTHER NEW TRUCK. NEXT PROBLEM IS MY RIGHT FRONT CALIPER HAS FAILED TWICE AND NEEDED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. IT IS NOW FAILING FOR THE THIRD TIME. THIS IS SERIOUSLY UNSAFE AND CRAZY. I HAVE ONLY ABOUT 73K MILES ON THIS TRUCK. THIRD THING IS MY CHROME TRIM ON MY DOOR HANDLES HAS REPEATEDLY FAILED. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER THIS IS NORMAL AND IT IS NOT FIXABLE UNLESS I PAY THEM. IT IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE TRUCK IS BABIED AND KEPT IN PERFECT CONDITION.
