| Nov 2025 | STRUCTURE | The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while exiting the vehicle, he opened the front driver's door and scraped his leg on the edge of the door. The contact stated that shortly after, he and his wife noticed a significant amount of blood coming from the cut. The contact sought medical attention a few days later. The contact's wife added that the contact was diabetic and takes blood thinners. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a complaint was filed, and an engineer was sent to take pictures of the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 Medical attention | 13,000 |
| Nov 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The screen display in front of the driver showing speed, gas level, warning signals, traffic lane departure alerts goes blank and flashes on and off. Sometimes no screen at all for miles. At times all warning signals are lit up for many miles. This is an ongoing problem that has not been fixed over 3 visits soon to be 4. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | 2 times, while driving 35-40 mph, the vehicle automatically slammed hard on brakes to full stop without any danger or other vehicle near, causing neck pain/whip lash. 3 days ago, I attempted a U-turn in busy intersection, suddenly the vehicle braked hard and came to full stop without any danger near. The dash lights lit up, the vehicle stalled. I was in middle of very busy intersection. It would not move forward. I reversed just in time to miss being slammed into by fast moving oncoming traffic. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | INTERMITTENT FLICKERING ON AND OFF OF THE CARS DIGITAL GUAGES AND HEADS UP DISPLAY. NO KNOWN CAUSE OR CORRELATION. DEALERSHIP UNABLE TO DETERMINE CAUSE. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The front end collision avoidance “feature” slammed on my brakes so hard today, for zero reason. I was already braking, going less than 20mph and had plenty of room. This is NOT the first time, closer to double digits since I purchase in April. This time the car behind me narrowly avoided hitting me which was made worse as my vehicle takes too long to unlock and allow me to begin driving again. This is going to cause an accident and ruin my tires/brakes costing me money. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Shortly after arriving home from approximately 60 mile trip, vehicle had been park approximately 10 minutes, came out to smoke and flames coming from inside of vehicle. The vehicle has been picked up by insurance but unsure whether the vehicle fire has been reported to NHTSA or Hyundai. The vehicle has not been to the dealer since the fire. Fire department stated it appears fire started inside vehicle. No warning lamps, messages, or other problems prior to the fire. | Crash: No Fire: Yes | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The FAWS Forward Assistance Warning System incorrectly identifies a "sleepy driver" and turns off Adaptive Cruise Control. FAWS has a dozen triggers that will cause this system to incorrectly alert the driver that his eyes aren't looking at the road and it turns off ACC. The FAWS has a turn off switch but it does not turn it off. So, without this safety feature of Adaptive Cruise Control, the driver just gets constant alerts to stay alert. Hyundai claims it is working "as designed" and has a suggestion to invest in specific sunglasses, or not be taller than 6'1" so the eyes can be detected, or don't wear a hat. Seriously, these are in the manual. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I was 15 minutes into my commute home on route 9 in Massachusetts when I stopped at a red light. When I took my foot off the brake and stepped on the gas the car would not accelerate more than 5 miles an hour. I was stuck in the intersection for about 10 minutes and had to put on my hazards and get into the right lane and Keep driving at 5 mph until I found a place to pull over and restart the car. When I restarted it it drove ok | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | On numerous occasions (over 20) the forward collision system just slams on the brakes to a full stop, there was nothing close enough to vehicle to cause this issue. Sometimes it’s caused by rain or wind, sometimes for no apparent reasons. One time it caused a no damage accident as person behind me tapped my bumper. In traffic it is set off often with nothing within a safe distance away. There was no obstacles or sudden movements from other vehicles around me. I have brought the car back too Hyundai 3 times only to tell me either a dumb excuse or nothing is wrong with vehicle. I have seen on forums there are a lot of incidents with this particular car We have serviced the vehichle 3 different times over this issue and were told there is nothing wrong with the vehicle Accident happened in summer so I will say there was a crash in additional details but last date occurrence of automatic stop was this morning | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Concern: DAW Driver Monitoring System False alerts shuts down cruise control. Safety issue when passing on interstate and suddenly the cruise shuts off and has to be reset. This warning sometimes goes off randomly and not due to driver attentiveness. If my arm is in top of steering wheel it blocks camera and wearing certain types of sunglasses. This system is asking the driver to not put his arm on top of wheel which is ridiculous. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is braking aggressively without a valid hazard, creating a serious rear-end collision risk. Incident 1 [XXX] , approx. 60 mph) : A vehicle legally changed into my lane with safe separation. The FCA system detected this as a collision risk and applied hard braking on the freeway. Following traffic had to brake abruptly and I narrowly avoided being rear-ended. Incident 2 (Intersection U-turn, 15 mph): While completing a permitted U-turn on a green light, the FCA detected a distant cross-traffic vehicle and suddenly braked in the intersection, leaving me stopped in an unsafe position. I set FCA sensitivity to the minimum/“Late” setting after the first event. The false hard-braking continues. Hyundai dealership [Anaheim Hyundai] states “no issue found.” This behavior is repeatable and unsafe. I request investigation into false positives and unintended hard braking, a software remedy, and guidance to disable automatic braking until fixed (warning-only) if permitted by Hyundai.Currently even if it is disabled it resets after the SUV is turned OFF. I realized there are multiple threads on reddit on the same issue for Tuscon 2025 models with some of them resulting in accidents. | Nov 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | All warning lights illuminate and the dashboard showing the speedometer shuts off while driving as well as the heads up display. You have no idea how fast you are going or if you are have any warning lights. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | FCA system slammed brakes all the way to a complete stop in middle of traffic for no reason. Car in front was slowing down, and I was already braking at more than a safe distance. This is completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous. There needs to be a way to permanently disable this overkill feature that creates way worse problems than it is supposed to solve. There are numerous complaints about this issue from other owners of this model, please help! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving on the road this morning approx. 25 mph (clear road, no rain, snow etc.) The car came to a full abrupt stop. Collusion/warning notification never came on (there was nothing in front of me) seatbelt locked. Car would not move. I put the car in park and had to turn the car off and back on to get the car to move. This honestly scared the life out of me. I had several cars behind me that could of rear ended my car and caused serious harm to myself or other drivers. I called the dealership (will be dropping off this evening) but they made it very clear that if they can not duplicate the problem there is nothing that they can do. The car has 8,000 miles on it and was purchased in April 2025. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Driver Assist Warning system. The driver assist warning in the vehicle provided a false alarm every 4-5 minutes while driving on the interstate. The trip was during the day and the driver was alert staying between the lane lines. The driver assist warning system was disabled in the vehicle settings. This problem has been reported by multiple individuals in the Hyundai forums. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Multiple times my vehicle has come to a complete stop unwarranted. There have been multiple instances of the automatic braking triggering on Michigan left hand turns with no traffic oncoming. This was reported to the dealer and they found no issue, however it has happened again since. The vehicle has also multiple times come to a full stop in heavy traffic when I was already braking and a full stop was unnecessary. There were two instances from this where I was very nearly rear ended, including on the expressway. There were no warnings that the system was malfunctioning. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | ENGINE | The engine dipstick plastic bottom presents an issue to remove dipstick. Dipstick must be wiggled or twisted as it is pulled up without force for removal. The engine head and block holes are not in perfect alignment. The concern is if the dipstick is removed by force the plastic on the end of dipstick could be broken off and end up in the oil pan. That could cause engine damage and a possible safety issue losing power. Hyundai National Consumer Affairs has been notified but states they cannot report a design complaint directly. They offered the NHTSA as a place to report this concern. This was also experienced on another same make/model car on dealers' lot. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving a 2025 Hyundai Tucson rental vehicle (VIN: [XXX] ), I experienced a sudden and unintended acceleration, and the steering appeared to turn without input. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree on a local street two blocks from my residence. The result was the wheel was popped off of it's axel and deflated immediately. Two days prior, I experienced a similar event in the same vehicle — sudden acceleration and braking hard making a loud braking noise. I suspect a mechanical or electronic malfunction. No warning or sensors were alerting me that this would happen. | Oct 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The "Consider Taking a Break" indicator illuminates erratically. We can drive it for 200 miles and it won't come on or we can drive it for 13 miles and it comes on 9 times. We've had the vehicle in the dealership for inspection (3) times. The dealership could not get it to fail. The dealership and Hyundai America said it's nothing they can do. It's an unnecessary annoying "distraction" while we're driving and we know distracted driving is the main cause of accidents. We had an incident where I took my eyes off the road to check the warning "Consider Taking a Break" light and bell came on, at that moment a large wild bird flew towards my windshield. The bird would have hit my windshield if it wasn't for my passenger yelling to stop. We had another incident where my spouse took her eyes off the road to check the "Consider Taking a Break" light came on when she was approaching a cross walk with a pedestrian in it. The problem has not been duplicated by the dealer. They may assume all of us are poor drivers because they suggested changing sun glasses, keep hands at 10 & 2, don't block the camera, sit straight up in driver seat, etc. I told the dealership and Hyundai America that I was willing to have this dangerous feature an option that I could turn off or totally removed. They said they can't do it because it's a safety feature. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving at speed in heavy traffic, I quickly merged from the right lane to the left lane to avoid an obstacle. My vehicle and the new vehicle in front of me (in the left lane) were traveling at approximately the same speed, although there was an admittedly small (one half car length) distance between us. My forward collision assist inaccurately identified this new vehicle in front of me as a sudden danger that I was going to hit. It immediately applied full braking power and played the forward collision alert sound. This aggressive and unexpected stop spilled and broke items in my car as they slid, roughly strained me against my seat belt, and caused the vehicle behind me to aggressively brake. A rear end collision was narrowly avoided, only due to the fast reaction of the driver behind me. This aggressive and dangerous forward assist and emergency braking can only be temporarily disabled for one drive, and resets every time the vehicle is turned on. I have not had my vehicle inspected for this issue, but communities on the internet have confirmed that this is a common problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The contact owns a 2025 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the contact attempted to switch lanes, and the Forward Collision Avoidance feature intermittently activated, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop. The contact started to experience neck pain from the consistency of the failure, but did not seek medical attention. The failure had occurred on several different occasions. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was performing as designed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that she was concerned that the brakes would sustain damage over time due to the constant failures. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that if the contact permanently disabled the Forward Collision Avoidance feature, the warranty would be affected. The failure mileage was approximately 8. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | 8 |
| Oct 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My instrument cluster goes off/on intermittently causing a safety issue (I'm unable to see how fast I'm driving etc). The problem has happened to me everyday for the last 1.5 weeks, however the dealer has had the car for a week now and claims they can't replicate the issue to get the code to order the part (I have filed a complaint with Hyundai). I want to go on record as this is not a recall with hyundai yet, but I am aware it is a well known problem with 2025 Hyundai Tucson's according to a North America Facebook page I belong to where we discuss various topics (positive and negative) regarding our cars. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Many 2025 Hyundai Tucson owners have reported significant issues with the driver attention warning feature, particularly when using cruise control and wearing sunglasses, leading to safety concerns and frustration. Common Complaints Constant Alerts: Many drivers have experienced the driver attention warning activating unnecessarily, especially while using cruise control. Users report that the system beeps and prompts them to keep their eyes on the road, even when they are attentive and looking straight ahead. This has led to frustration, with some considering disabling the feature entirely. 2 Sunglasses Interference: A recurring issue is that the driver attention warning system struggles to detect the driver's eyes when sunglasses are worn. This has caused the system to issue warnings and disable cruise control, which can be particularly dangerous in heavy traffic situations. Drivers have noted that even moderately tinted sunglasses can trigger these alerts, making it difficult to use the vehicle comfortably. 2 Safety Concerns: Some users have reported alarming incidents where the driver attention warning system caused abrupt braking, leading to near-collisions. For instance, one driver described a situation where the system suddenly applied the brakes while driving between vehicles, creating a hazardous situation. This has raised serious safety concerns among owners, particularly regarding the system's reliability and responsiveness. 1 Lack of Support from Hyundai: Many drivers have expressed dissatisfaction with Hyundai's response to these issues. Complaints about the driver attention warning feature have been met with minimal support, and some users feel that their concerns are not being adequately addressed by the manufacturer. 2 3 Sources Summary of Issues Overall, the driver attention warning feature in the 2025 Hyundai Tucson has been a source of frustration and concern for many owners. | Oct 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | There is a "consider taking a break" warning that pops up pretty often on this car. When I am doing normal driving. It is a MAJOR distraction and creates an unsafe situation. There is no way to turn off this feature | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The car breaks itself so abruptly when there is no real danger. This has almost caused for me to be rear ended on multiple occasions. Especially scary on the freeway. The forward collision warning is set to "late," and it still causes a huge jolt. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
