| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The car intermittently struggles to restart or dies and will not restart after stopping at a stoplight or stop sign due to the auto stop start. Even when the engine restarts after a stop, of often sounds like it’s struggling. The car has been taken into the dealership multiple times and the battery has been replaced twice. Honda dealer claims there’s no known issue despite numerous complaints online and report of a federal investigation into this issue with many Honda Odysseys and specifically the 2025 model year. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | When I am stopped at an intersection, my 2025 Honda Odyssey will often automatically stop the engine as part of its auto idle feature. However, three times in the last month, my car has stalled when it's time to start the engine. One time was on a highway when I was stopped at a light, and cars started honking and driving around me (including on the shoulder). Only after I turn the car off and turn it back on, can I start driving again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | SUSPENSION | There is suspension noise coming from driver side when driving in low speed (10-30mph). You can feel it when turning and accelerating slowly. It started around 9000 miles after first service of the car. There was no noticeable noise before. Reported to dealer but they cannot fix it and told me everything looks normal. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The Auto Idle Stop feature caused the engine to shut down twice, both times at a stoplight | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ENGINE | While idling, the engine shuts off completely and requires the vehicle to be shifted into park and restarted before operation can continue. On multiple occasions, the engine has struggled to restart and cranked for several seconds before turning over. Honda of Tomball in Tomball, TX currently has it. This defect creates a significant safety hazard because the vehicle loses power unexpectedly while in traffic. The vehicle is immobilized until it can be shifted into Park and restarted, leaving us vulnerable to collisions or other accidents, particularly in busy intersections or congested roadways, and creates a serious safety risk to our family, children, and our daughter’s service dog. The vehicle has been presented to HOT multiple times for diagnosis and repair. This defect continues to happen. HOT has inspected this during multiple repair visits. To our knowledge, the manufacturer has not directly inspected the vehicle. (I have requested it with both Honda of Tomball and Honda of America.) No warning lamps or dashboard messages appeared prior to the stalling events. The failure occurs without warning while the vehicle is stopped in Drive. The primary symptom is sudden engine shutdown, followed by difficulty restarting in some instances. This issue began shortly after delivery of the vehicle and has continued intermittently. First documented time of problem was September 2025. Most recent is May 2026. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2025 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently shut off in the middle of the road. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was immediately restarted and driven to the residence. Additionally, while at a complete stop at a red traffic light, the engine Auto START/STOP system failed to restart the vehicle after releasing the brake pedal. The contact pressed the Push to Start button to manually restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The manufacturer and the local dealer were notified of the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The failure mileage was 18,266. | Crash: No Fire: No | 18,266 |
| Apr 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The engine shuts off completely when at a stop after releasing the break pedal. This occurs when the idle auto start is on forcing me to restart the car multiple times with the engine button until it turns on and I am able to continue driving. This is a SAFETY hazard because it happens during traffic and an accident can occur. I have taken it multiple times to the dealer with no replication being able to be done. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The vehicle's auto idle stop system is malfunctioning, resulting in the engine failing to restart from a complete stop. This total failure has occurred on five separate occasions, including while stopped in active traffic intersections. Prior to these total restart failures, the vehicle showed the following symptoms: 1) Initially, the vehicle experienced rough engine idling, abnormal vibrations, and a raw gasoline odor after driving. 2) This progressed to a noticeable delay between releasing the brake pedal and the engine attempting to ignite, during which the starter sometimes sounded strained. 3) This has culminated in the current defect where the engine shuts off normally when stopped at an intersection, but completely fails to immediately restart when the brake is released. This defect completely immobilizes the vehicle in active traffic lanes, exposing us to an immediate and severe risk of a rear-end collision. When the engine fails to restart, the vehicle locks the transmission out of drive and triggers a warning on the dashboard. It is a highly hazardous situation, especially with a lot of distracted drivers on the roadways. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | The auto-idle off feature - yes The stall happened in a situation where cars behind me would have expected me to start moving and could have resulted in a rear-end collision. The vehicle has stalled like this three times. The other two times were not in public or traffic situations. It has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or service center. It has not been inspected by anyone else. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failure, only after. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | I've had several incidents of my car stalling occur since the purchase of the vehicle over the span of 16 months, probably around a dozen times or so. I will stop at a stop light and the vehicle's idle-stop system does not function properly. The vehicle shuts off but does not auto-restart. When I try to manually restart, nothing happens. There have been times where it took several times before the vehicle started back up. Even more seriously, I've stopped in the middle of traffic and the same thing happened. We have had a couple of very scary incidents of cars having to move over a lane to pass our idle vehicle. Thankfully no car hit us due to our idled vehicle. We have owned this vehicle for less than 1.5 years and have had two battery replacements. I've also had the vehicle not start from my garage or parking lot. When I try to start the vehicle a second time, there are times where the start button feels very firm and doesn't push down easily. I have to push the start button several times before the vehicle starts. I'm grateful there have not been any major accidents occur but this is an extremely unsafe situation for the driver and their passengers. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Issue with the idle auto star stop. I was driving on the freeway traffic stoped and I press fully down on the brakes and the turned of in stop and go traffic. Took about 5 minutes press and depress the brake pedal for the system to active again. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Many, many times vehicle stop/start feature has failed to start car. Have been stranded at busy intersection having to put car in park and restart car. Extremely dangerous. Took car to dealer and they deny there are any problems. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE | Starter failed to resume engine operation when auto start/stop disengaged motor at a stop light. This resulted in the vehicle being briefly inoperable after the light turned green, requiring other motorists to go around and leaving the vehicle stalled until engine functionality was resumed. Issue was reproduced by dealership, starter motor was deemed defective and was replaced under warranty. Vehicle had rough starts when resuming from auto stop for at least a week leading up to this incident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | On multiple occasions our vehicle has turned off at a stop (auto start/stop) and failed to restart upon pressing the accelerator. It then takes several seconds to be able to restart and get moving. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Idle start stop system was engaged at stop light. When I released the brake the van engine should have restarted - however the van completely died at this point. I had to wait about 10 seconds and then restart the entire car while sitting at the stop light. Very dangerous - the vehicle has also done this when at a stop light but cut off after I started to make a turn - leaving me in a dead vehicle in traffic's way - | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Description: Subject: Formal Warranty Claim – Spontaneous Glass Breakage and Request for Immediate Assistance Serious and unexpected failure involving my vehicle, a 2025 Honda Odyssey Elite (VIN: [XXX] ), currently with approximately 26,000 miles. On April 19, 2026, I submitted an initial complaint to Honda concerning what appears to be a spontaneous breakage of the rear side (fixed quarter) glass. The vehicle was parked overnight in driveway when the glass shattered without any known impact, external force, or evidence of vandalism. The fracture pattern is consistent with spontaneous tempered glass failure originating from the edge, which raises concerns of a potential manufacturing defect or internal stress within the material. On April 20, 2026, I presented the vehicle in person at my local Honda dealership for inspection and assistance. To date, no action has been taken, nor has any resolution been provided. This lack of response is unacceptable given the safety implications. Due to safety concerns, the vehicle is currently not in use and remains parked. I am unwilling to operate the vehicle in its present condition out of concern for further damage or risk. As a result, I am experiencing a significant disruption to my daily activities and mobility. Accordingly, I respectfully request the following: 1. Immediate review and approval of this issue under Honda’s warranty as a case of spontaneous glass breakage. 2. Prompt authorization for repair or replacement of the damaged glass at no cost to me. I have photographic documentation available. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] ?VIN: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I purchased a new 2025 Honda Odyssey XLE in February 2025 and soon noticed a clunking noise coming from the front suspension whenever I hit bumps. I contacted the dealership, and they scheduled an appointment. After inspecting the vehicle, they told me they could not find anything wrong. However, when I left the dealership, the noise was still there. The issue has since gotten worse. The clunking noise can now be heard when starting the engine, during transmission downshifts, and over even small bumps in the road. It feels like something in the suspension is loose, and I believe it is unsafe to drive. I am requesting that the vehicle be bought back. The dealership where I purchased the vehicle is 380 miles away, and I am currently on military orders, which makes it difficult for me to return to that location. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE | When Idle start/stop function is engaged and then goes to restart, the engine hesitates or fails to restart all together. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | This is the second time I have taken it to the dealership. When sitting at a stop and the automatic stop and start happens, it acts like it does not want to crank back up. Last time the dealership said it was the battery; they replaced the battery, but that has not fixed the issue. if I am at a stoplight and it does not start back, that is not a good feeling my wife now does not want to drive the van anymore because of the seriousness of this issue as well has having young children in the car. This is a van that was bought brand new and has been in the shop more than it has been driven. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | When I am stopped at a stop light or in traffic my auto start fails and kills the electric in my vehicle when I push the pedal to go. This has happened several times and in one instance, almost caused me to be rear ended. It took several attempts to restart the car all while other cars are buzzing past me. It is currently at the Honda dealership for the 4th or 5th time for this same issue. My battery was replaced all ready thinking that was the solution, but it was not. I personally know of two other people having this exact issue with their vans. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2025 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the idle stop feature turned off. The contact stated that the parking brake unexpectedly engaged, and the vehicle shut off with the message “Idle Stop Not Available” displayed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Additionally, shifting the vehicle out of park became difficult, and the contact had to wait an extended period before the vehicle could be restarted. The contact stated the failure would not occur while the idle stop feature was engaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the failure could not be duplicated. The contact was advised to return the vehicle if the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired, and the dealer refused to disengage the idle stop feature. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 23,000 |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Multiple times since purchasing the vehicle, the engine fails to restart after the automatic idle stop feature engages at red lights or stop signs. When I release the brake to resume driving, the vehicle attempts to restart but makes a struggling or grinding noise and then stalls completely, similar to a dead battery. The vehicle becomes unresponsive and does not restart immediately. I am forced to turn the car off and attempt to restart it multiple times, often waiting several minutes before the engine turns back on. This has occurred in traffic, creating a safety hazard due to vehicles behind me and my inability to move the car. The issue appears to be related to the automatic idle stop/start system and may involve the starter or battery failing to properly restart the engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The contact owns a 2025 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that after coming to a complete stop, the Auto START/STOP feature engaged, causing the vehicle to idle, the transmission shifted to park(P), and the engine failed to restart independently, and the vehicle turned off unexpectedly. The battery warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was restarted. Additionally, the vehicle made a clanking sound while driving over a bump or while making a turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and it was determined that the battery had low voltage, and the contact was advised to deactivate the Auto START/STOP feature. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: EA25004 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 10,000 |
