Cars behind me are not aware of my sudden slow down. The alert said to clean the plastic H in the grill. I have been to two Honda dealers and the problem persists. | May 2026 | ENGINE | The contact's son owned a 2025 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while her son was driving on the parkway at approximately 40 MPH, a loud, booming sound emit from the vehicle. After the booming sound emitting from the vehicle, several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel as the vehicle caught fire. Due to the sudden failure, the vehicle caught fire and the authorities were called to the scene. Once the fire department arrived at the scene the fire was extinguished. No injuries or property damage were reported. A police and fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent body shop where it was deemed a total loss as the vehicle was incinerated as a result of the fire. Another vehicle, a Chevy Malibu, left the left lane of traffic and drove on the median. This driver over corrected when her speed was 83 mph. I hit her broadside (Tbone) in the b pillar dead center on the my front of my CRV. My airbags did not deploy. I received a broken sternum from hitting the steering wheel. USAA did not investigate, just saw the photos and totalled the CRV. The Chevy Malibu had all the airbags deploy. | May 2026 | WHEELS | My car has under 6,000 mi on it. I bought it new and it has had this problem from the start. The TPMS alarms time after time. I go through all the routine of checking the tires and resetting the alarm system as per the manual. It might stay off for 10 mi or for 100 mi, but for sure it will come back on, and when the tires are checked, they are OK. So I reset it again and repeat the process. I have taken it to the dealer 5 times for this issue and have another appointment scheduled for next week. Twice they just reset it without checking me into the service dept. 3 times they checked it into the shop and worked on it. They called the Honda corp and ask them what to do, and were told to balance the tires. That actually worked for a while, but the problem just came back. When the monitoring system goes off, we don't know if it is for real or not. We won't leave town with the car because of that. If we disregard the alarm, it might be that we actually have a low or flat time and could have an accident or even be killed. I virtually won't leave town with the car because I don't know when or if it is giving me good information, and also.... | May 2026 | TIRES | My passenger side rear tire exploded off of the vehicle as I was driving 75mph down XXX. I was fortunate to be able to bring the car under control and get it out of the path of traffic. I could have been killed by this tire failure and loss of control. I had the vehicle towed to the Honda dealership in [XXX] . They told me I must have hit something. I absolutely did not hit anything that day or any other day. It was a clear, dry, sunny day. I was not in any road construction, and there was no debris on road. In addition the tire pressure warning light did not come on either before or after the tire exploded. I believe this was a failure as well. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not on my car. | May 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | COMPONENTS: Forward Collision Avoidance, Lane Keeping Support, Electronic Power Steering. INCIDENT: On 05/12/2026, upon vehicle startup, a total failure of the driver-assist safety suite occurred. Dashboard indicators displayed malfunctions for: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assistance (LKAS), and a "Steering Wheel Malfunction" warning. The vehicle was inspected at Greeley Honda on the same day (Mileage: ~56k). The dealership confirmed the front radar sensor, located behind the emblem, is defective. Despite no evidence of external impact or damage, the dealership quoted $3,900 for a total replacement of the grille, emblem, and sensor. SAFETY RISK: The failure has completely disabled the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), removing the vehicle's ability to provide emergency autonomous braking. The accompanying "Steering Wheel Malfunction" indicates an error in the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) torque sensor or LKAS integration, which creates a risk of unpredictable steering assistance. These failures, combined with a cascade of distracting warning lights, pose an unreasonable safety risk during operation. | May 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | While driving to store for errands today, 09May26, I came to a stop at a red light with intent to turn right next. I turned on my right blinker and turned a bit to the right and rolled forward to gain visibility to my left as I came to a complete stop. There was a car coming from the left that was preparing to turn left. I observed that car turn on its left blinker, and slow down while entering its turn. I confirmed the intersection was clear and there was nothing in front of me. I applied the gas, then looked left to confirm the other car was completing its left turn. While I was slowly accelerating, but before my eyes returned to the road ahead of me, the accident avoidance system sounded an audible alarm, I think I recall seeing an orange dash warning, and the system seemed to simultaneously trigger a hard brake apply. This was akin to a panic stop. I knew there was a truck approaching behind me. Although a bit stunned and dazed, I recovered as quickly as I could, and continued to complete my right turn to make sure that vehicle did not collide with me. The hard brake apply was so sudden, my head and body pitched forward (as much as permitted by the seat belt). After returning home, I realized my right shoulder was sore, presumably from the brake apply. I worry that this system could trigger the brakes like this at a much higher speed, in a turn, or with my children driving the car (they are just [XXX] and [XXX] old). I have since reached out to the dealership that I purchased the car from for assistance (LaFontaine Honda in Dearborn, MI). I just bought the car (used) last Friday, 5/1. I am a technical project manager that has supported automotive brake development projects for multiple companies and customers for 26 years. I know how these systems are supposed to work, and this one seems flawed, and potentially dangerous in my opinion. I would be happy to discuss further if NHTSA has questions. | May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | On 3/17/26, my husband and I started heading N on RT 83 to a medical appointment in our 2025 Honda CR-V Touring Sport. We were doing between 40 to 50 miles/hr. Twenty minutes later, we smelled faint smoke which was attributed to the trucks driving around us. Upon exit to our next route we immediately came to a red light and stopped and found heavy dark smoke coming from inside the front of our hood. We slowly moved to the R lane to get to a strip parking lot to move vehicle to a safe spot. When we finally found a safe parking a vehicle stopped to alert us of a noticeable fire at the bottom front of the Honda. We jumped out and 911 was called. By the time Police, followed by the Fire Dept, the front of my CR-V was engulfed by fire. I had just purchased this 2025 Touring Sport from Carmax 6 months earlier and it had just 7091 miles to it. My insurance and Honda were notified and claim and case #s were filed. Insurance offered a settlement but no word yet from Honda. Inspections were performed by both. Insurance inspectors report it as potential mechanical failure. There was no external impact, airborne object, or temperature extreme involved. The vehicle is stored in a covered underground parking structure. The glass shattered inward, with fragments falling onto the driver seat, passenger seat, center console, and floor. The sunroof frame shows no signs of external force or impact point. My vehicle experienced engine noise, vibration, and warning indicators, which the dealership attributed to 'fuel contamination' to deny warranty coverage (attached), and charged approximately $3,392.99 for repairs. However, I have a certified laboratory analysis (attached) from the Georgia Department of Agriculture confirming the fuel met all state quality standards and had no contamination at Costco Gas. Costco also provided supporting document (attached) that there was no contamination and there were no other customers reporting such issue. The vehicle required a second repair (attached) for the engine issue immediately after the first, further proving the failure was not 'bad fuel' related. Despite my state-certified proof, the dealer refuses to provide any documentation for their claim of 'bad fuel.' | Apr 2026 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Date of Accident: April 13, 2026 I drove into our church parking lot and then parked next to my husband’s car and was totally stopped and in the parking space. I thought I had my foot on the brake. After a split second, it accelerated and jumped the curb of the parking space at a very fast speed. I had no control of the car. I sheared off a heavy metal sidewalk railing and was headed for the brick church (church is on a berm above parking lot), but I managed to steer away to miss the church and a large tree. I steered off the berm and into empty parking lot – still traveling at high speed. I finally threw it into neutral to get it to stop because it was continuing toward a busy street with lots of traffic. Neutral stopped it. No air bags deployed. The front and side of the car that hit the metal railing sustained $6,500 damage. Towed it to collision repair. When we asked at the Columbia, MO, Honda dealer’s service department, they said because the air bags didn’t deploy, that it was probably operator’s error and nothing they could do. We didn’t feel that it was operator error and reported to the assistant General Manager of Honda in a personal meeting. We asked to have the Honda field engineer exam the car. Instead, they had their district service supervisor exam the car. Their conclusion: they could find nothing wrong with the car. | Apr 2026 | STEERING,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | STEERING: 2025 Honda CRV steering became "sticky" when veering left, making it difficult to maneuver back to center and the steering could feel a bit jumpy. There were also faint clicks when driving in circles to the left. The VIN was not listed under the current recall number 24V-744 so we brought it to the dealer to see if it was under warranty. The sticky steering only happens after driving the car for a little while, so we weren't able to replicate it for the dealer 12 miles away. However, they took a look at the steering components and told us that it was a "fluke" that the car had made it through assembly inspections because it should have failed and never been sold. We had the car safety checked before leaving for a trip where we'd be driving along steep, winding cliffs with sharp switchbacks and they said we were in good shape. Now they were telling us we were "lucky we didn't hit a pothole" and make it even worse and careen off a cliff. We put about 10k miles on that trip not knowing the danger we were in the whole time. They claim they fixed it by installing a brand new Honda Power Steering Rack, part number 53620-3A0-A33. We've heard that others just end up with the same issues in another 5-7k miles, so we're not feeling confident. AUTOMATIC SAFETY BREAKING: We get several phantom warning alarms and flashing, full screen messages telling us to "BRAKE!" while driving when nothing is there. Usually when there's any kind of flickering sunlight or sunlight through trees, which is everywhere. We can only disable it by turning it off EVERY single time we turn on the car and by going through several menus to get to the feature. We should be able to turn this off completely, not each time. We've twice had it pump the breaks and it's a frightening situation, even at slow speeds, because we could get rear ended. Dealer said, "Yeah...that's how it works. | Mar 2026 | AIR BAGS | I was involved in an accident which resulted in my C-RV being totaled. Another vehicle pulled out immediately in front of me and I crashed into it. None of my airbags deployed. My vehicle's emergency response system was activated- it called emergency response and kept repeating that a crash had been detected. The front of my car was crushed in and the impact sent the vehicle that pulled out in front of me, a Toyota 4Runner, doing a full roll and ending up on its side. Clearly, the airbags should have activated. I purchased the CR-V new, was the only owner, the vehicle had less than 5,000 miles on it, had never been in an accident, and there were no warning lights or messages indicating any problem with the airbag system prior to the accident.
