Jul 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE On Thursday, July 9, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., I was driving my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Duramax on Highway 40 while towing a properly connected trailer. The Multi-Flex tailgate had been fully closed and latched before I began my trip and had not been opened at any point prior to the incident. While traveling on the highway, a California Highway Patrol officer pulled alongside my vehicle and alerted me that my tailgate was down and bouncing on the trailer I was towing. I immediately pulled over to the shoulder and observed that the entire Multi-Flex tailgate had unexpectedly unlatched and was resting on the trailer. I closed and latched the tailgate, which appeared to operate normally, and continued to my destination. At no time before or during the incident did the vehicle display a "Tailgate Open" warning or any other warning message on the instrument cluster. The unexpected opening of the tailgate caused it to strike the trailer, resulting in damage to the Multi-Flex tailgate, the rear bumper, and the trailer. The vehicle has approximately 11,000 miles, was purchased new, and has not been modified. I have opened a case with General Motors, and the vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear liftgate independently opened while there was cargo loaded inside the bed of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the garage, after inspecting the vehicle the rear liftgate had independently opened, causing damages to the garage door. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE My truck (2025 Chevy Silverado Trail Boss LZ0 Duramax 3.0l) started to have problems when driving. At a stop light, I started to accelerate at about 2000-3000 RPM. While doing so, there was a loud ticking/grinding noise coming from the transmission/Bell housing area. On June 2nd, I dropped the truck off with the dealership. I didn’t hear back from them until about a month later (July 3rd) and when I did they said the technician confirmed I needed a new ‘axle actuator’. About a week and a half later, they said it did not fix the issue and started to become more of a problem to where they will need an “engine technician” to see if I need a new engine due to the “crank shaft thrust bearing”. The advisor said he will call me on Wednesday, July 15th to update me on what I will need. I requested a Loaner vehicle since I dropped it off and they said no because the dealer does not provide that and would have to get approval from GM to grant me the loaner vehicle bast off the diagnostic. Jul 2026 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle was stalling. The message "Transmission Service" was displayed on the instrument panel. The dealer was contacted and diagnosed the failure as a shifter assembly failure. The vehicle was not repaired because the part was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown

Jul 2026 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE Leased a 2025 Chevy Silverado in late 2025. On June 13th 2026 driving home my vehicle all of a sudden had very little power, check engine light went on and thankfully I was at my driveway. Pulled into my residence, shut truck off and called the dealer I leased the truck from at 1:00 pm Satuarday, June 13th. They set me up with a loaner vehicle. I called for a tow truck Monday the June 15th and had truck delivered to dealership. Ive been told, they are looking into? Beyond that, nothing more.

Jun 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE My 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 6.2L V8 experienced an internal engine failure at approximately 16,500 miles, requiring replacement of the entire long block under the factory powertrain warranty. The authorized Chevrolet dealership diagnosed internal cylinder wall scoring, and the engine could not be repaired. The failed engine should still be available for inspection if requested. About 4,000 miles after my last oil change, while the Oil Life Monitor still showed about 50% remaining, the vehicle repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings. I checked the oil level with the engine cold, and the dipstick showed the level was normal, so I believed the problem was a faulty oil level sensor. The next day, the warning changed to "Add Engine Oil," and I immediately took the truck to the dealership. The dealership confirmed the issue was not the sensor but internal engine damage caused by cylinder wall scoring, requiring replacement of the entire long block. Fortunately, the engine did not seize while I was driving, and no crash or injury occurred. However, before the failure was diagnosed, the only warning was repeated oil level messages that did not match the actual oil level. There were no abnormal engine noises, knocking, or noticeable loss of power. A driver could reasonably assume it was only a sensor issue and continue driving without realizing the engine had already suffered severe internal damage. If the engine failed while driving, it could create a serious safety hazard. Although GM replaced the engine under warranty, I remain concerned that a vehicle less than 16 months old with only 16,500 miles experienced such a major engine failure. I am also concerned that similar failures could occur after the factory powertrain warranty expires, leaving owners responsible for repairs that other Silverado owners have reported can cost approximately $13,000. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether similar failures may also affect 2025 6.2L V8 model.

Jun 2026 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE Date: June 22, 2026 Time of Incident: Approximately 11:48 a.m. Vehicle: 2025 Chevrolet Silverado High Country 6.2L V8 Current Mileage: Approximately 29,500 miles I am documenting the events surrounding the unexpected engine failure of my 2025 Chevrolet Silverado High Country. On June 22, 2026, at approximately 11:48 a.m., while driving at highway speed, the vehicle was operating normally with no warning lights, messages, or other indications of a problem. I began hearing a metallic clanking or knocking noise from the engine area. The noise progressively increased in volume and severity over approximately ten minutes as I reduced speed and looked for a safe location to pull over. My intention was to reach the dealership if possible; however, as I slowed to approximately 15 mph to make a turn, the noise stopped abruptly, the engine shut off, and the vehicle displayed a message instructing me to press the Start button again. The vehicle came to a complete stop at approximately 11:58 a.m. I attempted to restart the vehicle once, but it did not restart. No additional restart attempts have been made. There were no warning lights displayed prior to the engine shutting down, and there were no visible fluid leaks underneath the vehicle after it came to a stop. The vehicle received a routine oil change on June 16, 2026, approximately three days before this incident. I have retained the service receipt and all related documentation. The vehicle will be transported by flatbed tow truck to an authorized Chevrolet dealership for diagnosis and repair under warranty. This email is intended to document the incident timeline and details while they are fresh in my memory. I have not heard back from the dealer yet.

He ran to a strangers house to get buckets of water not safe for my child at all. May 2026 LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION All sound goes out on this truck intermittently. Maybe once every 3-4 days. I will have 0 sound, the safety feature sounds, the parking assistance, the directional signal sounds, the stereo. It is not Bluetooth or anything interfering I’ve shut my phone off to test. This happens with MANY people. Most people complain online about the stereo and directional sounds being completely muted, but forget to mention or don’t notice that the parking and collision assistance sounds are out as well. It took me a while to realize. I have video of it happening as well

May 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING 2025 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab, VIN [XXX] , purchased new in April 2025. Total transaction value exceeded $50,000 including trade in of previous vehicle. Has experienced repeated serious electrical failures in under a year and 16,500 miles. Components that failed: Telematics module causing parasitic battery drain, DC/DC converter module, radio, and two complete battery failures. Turn signal was also triggering the high beams to flash, a separate electrical issue repaired under warranty. All components are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: First battery failure occurred in January at 10,000 miles while traveling in the desert with my wife and infant son. We were stranded with no Chevrolet dealer accessible. Second battery failure occurred at 16,500 miles. A failed DC/DC converter module was discovered immediately after the latest round of repairs when the dashboard lit up with multiple warning lights and a check engine light the same day I picked up the vehicle. I drive this truck daily for work and transport my young child in it regularly. Repeated unexpected failures create a serious and ongoing safety risk. Confirmed by dealer: Yes. George Chevrolet confirmed and attempted repairs on the telematics module, DC/DC converter module, and radio. All failures documented on official repair orders. Warning lamps: Yes. Multiple warning lights and check engine light appeared immediately upon pickup after the most recent repairs. Manufacturer response: General Motors denied my repurchase request despite multiple confirmed warranty failures and has not offered a replacement vehicle. May 2026 ENGINE Hello, I purchased this truck new in November of 2025. Around 1500 miles and a few months later the truck developed what sounds like some sort of belt squeak or chirp upon startup, light acceleration and when the engine auto start/stops. I took it to my local dealer and they told me they “lubed the belt” the noise became faint but still didn’t go away. Around 3k miles the noise is back as loud as it was. Back to the dealer, a new serpentine belt the noise is again quieter but still exists. This needs to be addressed many people online are dealing with this and the dealer is giving us the run around trying to say it’s normal for a brand new $70,000 dollar truck to squeak and chirp!

Apr 2026 ENGINE My vehicle was in motion down a state highway at approximately 55 mph around a corner as my 6.2 put itself into neutral and shut itself off. A message displayed on my dash stating to press start again to restart the engine. I pulled to the side of the road and attempted to do so in which nothing happened. Vehicle was towed to the dealer the same day. I was on a blind corner, experiencing complete engine failure on a busy state highway, I was near inches from being hit multiple times and sent off of a roughly 30 foot drop. My 6.2 experiencing complete engine failure at approximately 33000 miles should not be happening. The engine had no warning signs just happened traveling down the road. The dealership has ordered my engine under warranty but I remain well over 1000 on the waiting list to get a new 6.2 engine. My main concern is what happens when I get the truck back with the same malfunctioning 6.2 with no recall and no fix. How long until it breaks again? GM has done nothing else to remedy the situation and make the situation better for their loyal customers. Vehicle has been in the shop since 03/18 and has no return in the foreseeable future.

Apr 2026 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL While driving on the freeway with my family in the middle of a snowstorm, my 2025 Silverado 1500 with 8,000 miles on it, suddenly dropped gears down to 1st without warning. The check engine light went on and I later found out it was the valve body that caused it. This could have cause serious harm to my family had I not maintained control of the vehicle. The dealership fixed the problem only for it to happen again a month later. The truck is still in the shop.

Apr 2026 ENGINE On March 6, 2026 exactly one month ago from today, I was driving my Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 with a 6.2 liter gas engine to a family vacation. We were traveling through our home state to another state. I was driving and my wife, along wiht two children (age [XXX] and [XXX] ) and my family dog were all riding inside the truck. We were traveling at posted highway speed approximately three hours from our home. There was a whine from the engine compartment that got progressively louder in about 30 seconds. Then the engine began to lose power. We were near a chevrolet dealer so I pulled in the service bay, where the technician swiftly told me to cut off the engine, that my crankshaft was broken and it lead to catastrophic engine failure. The vehicle is available for inspection at the same Chevrolet dealer we visited one month ago. My family's safety was put at risk because we were traveling at highway speed and the vehicle witnessed catastrophic engine failure. Due to catastrophic engine failure, the engine has not been turned on by the dealer since departing the service department. The vehicle was been inspected by the service department at a certified Chevrolet dealer. Interestingly, there were no warning lights or any type of warning other than the severe sound coming from the engine compartment. Prior to engine failure, there were no other symptoms of the problem other than the low pitched whine that progressively got louder over a 30 second period of time. Apr 2026 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE while driving down the freeway at 80 mph, in my 2025 Chevy truck with 6000 mikes , the truck suddenly locked up, almost throwing myself and my daughter into the dash, thank goodness the semi truck behind us was paying attention of we would be dead! I was able to steer it to the shoulder of the road where I unhooked the battery hoping to reset the system to no avail. Waited on the side of the road till the tow truck got there. towed the truck to my local Chevy dealer where they confirmed the engine was blown, I want Chevy to do a buyback on the truck as I have zero confidence in the truck, do not feel safe in it anymore, my daughter swore to never set foot in it again after such a dramatic event. i now have to wait a month for the dealer to install a new motor, at which time they will not give me a loaner truck, very disappointing. 1-Total engine failure. 2-Mine, my daughter, the semi truck driver, and many other surrounding drivers safety and lives were put at risk. 3- Yes the dealer has confirmed it was a totally engine loss. 4-no one else has inspected the vehicle 5- No light, sensors or warnings just a loud bang then our lives flashing before our eyes.
