| Nov 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | No component had failed. I feel me and my childrens safety is at risk because when I start my car each time I smell fuel. Most of the time it will eventually dissipate, but sometimes it takes a while. The issue has not been figured out. The vehicle has been inspected. My vehicle isn’t showing any warning signs. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | ENGINE | At about 17900 miles on my 2023 Rogue I got a engine malfunction warning the vehicle speed was reduced to 10pm on the freeway. Luckily I was able to pull over immediately. I had it towed to the Nissan dealer. They informed me it was a foot pedal issue and said the car was fixed. I drove it home fine however the following day the vehicle engine started to smoke and there was smoke coming out of the exhaust. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and it needs a new engine and turbo. They are trying not to assume responsibility saying lack of maintenance. I had the full service done literally 3 weeks before the incident. There seems to be several people dealing with the same issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2023 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | There is a strong smell of gas/exhaust fumes in the vehicle when it's running. The smell is absolutely nauseating. I've been told that at this point Nissan is aware of the issue and there is no fix as of yet. Now I'm stuck driving a brand new car that is making me and my family ill. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 2 | Unknown |
| Oct 2023 | TIRES | The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue equipped with Bridgestone Tires, Tire Line: Alenza Performance, Tire Size: 235/55/R19, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer for a service appointment. The contact was informed that all four tires were worn. The contact was informed that all four tires needed to be replaced. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 15,000 |
| Sep 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | At 700 miles I started the vehicle and tried to drive when vehicle lost power and had no acceleration. I shut off the car and restarted and it was fine. It has happened several times since then including while driving. The dash shows engine malfunction reduced power service now. When it occurs the vehicles power is reduced to an idle. It’s been to the dealer and hasn’t been able to be duplicated. The manufacturer has been notified but seem not to care. It has happened on the street while driving and all I can do is pull over. If this were to happen on the freeway it could be very dangerous. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The "Engine Malfunction Power Reduced" light came on while I was driving on a highway during a traffic slow down in Houston, TX on September 9, 2023. After the light came on, I stepped on the accelerator and the vehicle was moving very slowly. I quickly turned on the emergency lights to alert other drivers on the highway and pulled slowly towards the right shoulder. I drove on the right shoulder very slowly even by stepping all the way on the accelerator and exited the driveway. I stopped at a nearly gas station and turned off the engine. I let the engine turned off for 3 to 5 minutes and restarted the vehicle. The "Engine Malfunction Power Reduced" went off and it drove fine after that. It could be a very dangerous situation if this was not happened during a traffic slow down. Fortunately, I was able to get out of the highway safely. This happen when the vehicle total mileage was only at about 9872 miles. I drove the vehicle back to Round Rock, TX and ordered a maintenance service at the Nissan dealership on 9/11/2023. I left the vehicle with the service department for 3 days. After 3 days, the service department told me it was the battery issue and they replaced the battery. I was told the issued was fixed. However, after about a week or two after the service, the "Engine Malfunction Power Reduced" light came on again on 9/22/2023 while starting at a parking lot. I turned off the engine for a few minutes and restarted the vehicle and the light went off. The second time this happen when the vehicle total mileage was at about 10,316 miles. The service department told me the issue was fixed but the issue appears to be still there. I will bring the vehicle back to service but I have totally lost confident in driving the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | Random and recurring Warning light error ‘Engine Malfunction Reduced Power Service Now’ corresponding with reduced acceleration while actively driving. It has been attributed to a Turbo engine malfunction | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ENGINE | Cabin smells strongly of gasoline. Gives us major headaches and sick feeling when inside car. Dealer has car now, says smell is strong and oil dipstick smells of gasoline. No warning of problem. Car is new, under 3000 miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | On July 21,2023 while driving at highway speeds the engine started to sputter. Multiple engine failure lights came on. The engine died and I had 1-2 seconds to get the vehicle out of the highway onto the shoulder. I was told the by the dealer that part of the fuel injector may have come loose and damaged the cylinder. The vehicle had only 562 miles on it. I do not have any paperwork on it because almost 2 months later the car is still at the dealer. Today I was informed the new engine they installed also failed because of a bad cylinder. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | In April 2023 we had to bring the car in because the seat belt got stuck engaged to where we couldn’t unbuckle it to get our son out of his car seat. We almost had to cut the seat belt to get him out. We barely were able to squeeze him out of it. My wife was driving the car down a highway and there was a full-size leather couch sitting in the middle of the highway. The car’s Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning system features never picked up the couch in the middle of the road. My wife had to swerve to the left to try and miss the couch and it clipped the right side of the car damaging the fender flare. Also, while pulling out of our driveway a pedestrian was walking behind the car and the Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection system didn’t pick up the person behind the car. The person had to hit the back of the car for us to stop to keep us from hitting them. While pulling into the driveway where our other vehicle is parked the car’s Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection System wouldn’t let us know that we were about to hit the parked car in our driveway. On June 14, 2023 we brought the car to Ray Brant Nissan to be inspected. The Ray Brant Nissan Technician stated that the Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection system is only supposed to work when you are within 6 inches of the item you are about to hit. the technician took me for a test drive and he said watch this with the car in front of us. The Automatic Emergency Braking System did not brake for the car and he had to slam on the brakes so we didn’t hit the car. So, he then stated that the car in front of us was too small. I reached out to Nissan Consumer Affairs and the lady named Tatiana called me back and stated that she contacted Ray Brant before she called me and as far as she is concerned it’s working the way it is supposed to and she stands by the Nissan Dealer Ray Brant and hung up on me. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | POWER TRAIN | I took the car in to the dealership to have the oil changed. After they finished, they informed me that the oil had been leaking from the oil pan drain plug due to it being stripped. They told me that because the oil pan was made of a "composite material" that it was extremely easy to strip the drain plug and crack the oil pan due to the material that it was made of. Furthermore, this was only the second oil change of the car's lifetime (less than 10,000 miles.) They also told me that this was a common issue with other drivers of this particular model. They replaced the oil pan under warranty. However, I am extremely concerned about the longevity and safety of this oil pan. If any uninformed mechanic were to change the oil, it could lead to a massive oil leak that could cause the car to stall while on the road. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was parking car. Car unexpectedly accelerated, hit object in front of me & continued accelerating off road into a field until I got car into neutral. Car has not been inspected for cause. At time of accident I assumed I made an error. Danger is car was going extremely fast with no control to stop. Drive off road maybe 20 feet after hitting a manual water pump (at campsite). There were children playing in area. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Lease vehicle 5/27/23, twice when driving car gear switch to neutral, need repair ASAP | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE | While driving down the highway the engine started to shake violently. Barely got the vehicle pulled over before the engine locked up tight. Had we not been in the right line and close to the soft shoulder, the vehicle could have locked up and stopped in the middle of the highway with cars doing 70mph behind us. Vehicle was towed to dealer and main bearing/rod bearing material was found in the oil and oil filter. In the time the vehicle has been in the dealer waiting for a new engine to come off back order, 2 more of the same year make, model and engine configuration has come into the dealer with the same problem. This is information obtain from the dealer. Nissan is not telling the dealer the cause of the problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Brand new car, picked up July 19 2023, 1st issue) July 22, 2023: 3 Days after i picked up my car, went for a long drive to Phoenix AZ from Tucson AZ. Parked in a corner mall for an hour, drove out from parking lot and we smelled strong gas odor. Checked A/C recirculation and it is set to RECIRCULATION. Drove for a couple miles and it was gone. 2nd issue) July 25, 2023. Going to work, already driven 1 and half miles away from my house. My A/C was set to 72c in Auto and on Sync, never changed it to anything else. My A/C Screen randomly shuts off and turned off the whole a/c system including fan. I it automatically resets and turned on after 1-2 seconds and it was defaulted to 75c with Sync off. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Monday, June 17, 2023 at approximately 9:10 am I was driving my 4 month Nissan Rogue 2023 on 91N in Connecticut near exit 23/24 in traffic in the 2nd lane in 4 total under speed limit during the end of rush hour. My sunroof without warning exploded. It was terrifying and I believed it was a plane, or a explosive truck blowing up. My ears rang for minutes and it was so difficult not to duck and hide or flee my automobile. I had no idea what happened. It was traumatizing and thought my tire at first blew out or engine was going to have flames expel from it. I almost pulled over, but thought it was safer to get off exit 24 Wethersfield. I was stunned when the entire sunroof of the drivers seat and passenger seat exploded out. There were minimal small pieces around the perimeter, but the entire glass was gone as if it flew up and out. Luckily, I had no passengers and my roof was shut with no glass exposed that morning. Almost always I allow the sun to shine in, but forgot my sunglasses. I brought it to the dealership immediately and waiting to hear the outcome. I can’t get out of my head the anxiety of how loud the explosion was. I am shocked it has happened to many other models and several cases of my car. I have seen dangerous glass fall inside of cars. I feel so fortunate I didn’t create an accident by how distracted and terrifying it was. Just because no one has died because of an explosion of a sunroof should not warrant a closed case. It was the scariest thing I ever experienced and am afraid for my passengers safety in the future. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Car smells like gas inside the cabin. Many people have posted throughout varies forums about the occurrence. I took the vehicle to my Nissan dealership and they had a bulliten saying replace the PVC blower hose assembly. Part is on order until next week when I will have it installed. One person in a forum suggested checking the oil dipstick to see that the oil itself smells of gas. I did so on my vehicle and confirmed a gassy smell in he oil. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | When using the backup camera, the screen will turn black while the car is in motion. This happens every time I drive my car. I have taken the car to the dealership I purchased it from twice, and have been told that they cannot duplicate the issue. They say that Nissan has to send an update via flash drive for my car to download. In my last visit, my paperwork stated "Nissan still has not released an update for radio system". This has been a problem since I purchased the car in 11/2022, and has gotten worse over time. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | I bought this vehicle from Nissan Of Queens. I was not able to observed that the Left Headlights were cracked slightly. Luckily for me, I had taken a picture of the Vehicle before I took the vehicle from the Dealer and texted it to a friend; because he wanted to see the color of the vehicle. So I have the proof of the cracked headlights before I took the car. The people of Nissan of Queens has been telling me for over 4 weeks now that they will fix the problem. They told me they filed a claim with Nissan. There is now water in the Light from the moist. This is a bad for business. Now I will never recommend anyone to buy a car from this dealer. I hope you can help. [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | BACK OVER PREVENTION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Front collision and rear collision components went out and have been replaced once already. These components are now failing again. The back up camera goes out in the middle of me backing out which could cause collision with another object or person. The front collision comes on while driving when there are no objects in front of me. All issues have been confirmed by the dealer and replaced once but now I have been waiting on parts to fix again and it has been over a month. Each time I take the vehicle in the parts are on back order. I have only owned the vehicle since October 31, 2022, so 7 months. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The following message has shown up twice on my vehicle's information system. Warning Engine Malfunction Power reduced Service Now The first time this happened was about 2 weeks ago, around June 2nd. The car was towed into the dealership but they couldn't find anything wrong. Then yesterday, June 21, 2023 I had the car serviced at the dealer for it's first oil change. The car was purchased on Jan, 13, 2023 and has about 3800 miles on it. The engine warning up again on June 22, 2023 at about 3:00PM after it was started up. When this warning occurs, the cars power is reduced and the car can't go any faster than about 5 miles per hour. Very dangerous if this happens on a highway. I was fortunate that both times this has happened near my house and I drove the car back home at that reduced speed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2023 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while starting and driving the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the "Power Reduced", "Malfunction", and "Service Now", messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where a diagnostic test was performed but the cause of the failure could not be determined. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred while entering traffic. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 951. | Crash: No Fire: No | 951 |
| Jun 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | After driving my 2023 Nissan Rogue for approximately 1.5 months (1700 miles) I started smelling a gas odor inside the cabin while driving and while parked. The smell is causing my eyes and throat to burn and occasional nausea. While parked in my garage the smell becomes so overwhelming that I must remove the vehicle from the garage to "air out" for a few hours. Since I have an attached garage the smell is also permeating the house. My husband checked the oil dipstick and found it to have a very strong gasoline odor. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer. I was told the smell is normal since this is a new turbo engine, it should be expected. I have contacted Nissan corporate regarding a fix or buyback and was told that I do not qualify. I have concerns regarding my health due to long term exposure to VOCs. I have safety concerns related to VOCs accumulating in my garage. I have mechanical concerns do to the inadequate venting of gasoline and gasoline in my oil. Will this cause the engine and other parts to fail? | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | ENGINE | On May 10, 2023 my 2023 Nissan Rogue with 16,633 miles on it suffered an engine malfunction and completely stalled unexpectedly on an off-ramp of State Route 28. There were no warning lights or indicators that flashed. My car would not restart. If this would have happened minutes if not seconds sooner while I was on the highway, no vehicle behind me would have been able to stop and someone would have been seriously injured. It was later determined the engine completely seized due to metal shavings being that were found in it. The engine was replaced under warranty at a dealership but given the newness of my car and the fact that I drive more miles to work and back than most people, I worry that this could happen to other 2023 Nissan Rogues that have not been driven that much. A cause was never relayed to me as to what happened. I asked for various information from the dealership in regards to diagnostic reports, daily work logs and so on. I received only a 3 page invoice with no listing of specific diagnostics that were completed on my car. I am driving a car that could suffer the same malfunction and the dealership did not seem the least bit concerned about the potentional safety hazard this situation could have created. I was told by the dealership that the new technology had not been fully tested and this was a risk of buying a brand new car. I understand minor issues with a new car but metal shavings in an engine is not minor. I am not sure if the engine is available for inspection. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2023 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | When driving in stop and go traffic, the cabin of my Nissan Rogue gets a strong smell of fuel. After driving it, I park in my garage and the entire garage smells like gasoline as well. There is no other source for this smell in my garage. I have taken it to the dealership looking for a gasoline leak and they said it is not leaking, yet I smell gasoline while driving as well as when it is parked inside the garage and outside in parking lots. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
