| Jul 2026 | SUSPENSION | While pulling into my driveway on XXX, the rear coil spring on my vehicle completely suffered a structural failure/separation. This exact issue is the subject of the federal safety recall issued by FCA US LLC in February 2026 (NHTSA Campaign ID: 26V051000 / FCA Recall 20D), which acknowledges that the rear coil springs on 2021-2023 Grand Cherokees can detach while operating creating a critical road hazard. On XXX Towne Chrysler Dodge Jeep Inc. at [XXX] cleared my car of the recall stating that my vehicle was not affected. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2026 | SUSPENSION | I had taken the Jeep in to have the rear coil fixed under the recall notice a couple of years ago. While driving out of state during the evening of XXX, the car made a large thud noise and the passenger rear side of the car dropped. We stepped out of the vehicle and the passenger rear coil spring was lying in the road. The car had not been in any accidents or had any damage. The spring simply dislodged and fell to the ground while we were driving. We had the Jeep towed to Jeff Wyler dealership in Columbus and provided them the spring that had fallen off. The dealership's number is [XXX]. We had to rent a car to return to Grand Rapids Michigan and still need to find a way to bring the Jeep home when the repaid is made. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | SEATS | My driver seat filled up with air in the lumbar while the vehicle was off. I tried adjusting the seat and it would not deflate. While I was moving my seat forward to get to the position for me to be able to drive the back of the seat blew apart. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal sound coming from the front-end of the vehicle, with the sound more significant on the driver's side. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated; however, the contact verified that the odometer reading remained the same as when the vehicle was dropped off. The contact believed that the vehicle was not test-driven. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V352000 (STEERING); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 23,000 |
| Jun 2026 | SUSPENSION | The rear coil spring on the passenger side detached from the vehicle. The problem was confirmed by a repair shop. There was no warning whatsoever. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | This vehicle has experienced continuous HV battery drainage since repaired under recall 68C on 2/9/26. Multiple follow up trips to the dealer and discussions with the Stellantis "Star team" have resulted in them informing me the vehicle is unfixable but "safe" to drive. They admit they have no idea what the problem is or how to solve it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | STRUCTURE | I am requesting that NHTSA investigate a potential safety defect affecting 2022-present Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles involving failure of the front bumper retention clamps. Owners of these vehicles are reporting that the front bumper mounting clamps begin to crack, break, or fail at approximately 30,000 miles — often occurring just after the basic warranty period expires. These components appear to be inadequate for their intended purpose and are critical to maintaining proper bumper attachment. This issue is widely discussed among Jeep owners, yet the manufacturer has not issued a recall, service campaign, or permanent repair solution. Instead, owners are being forced to pay hundreds of dollars to replace or repair a failure caused by what appears to be a low-cost component that does not meet the durability requirements expected of a safety-related exterior vehicle part. A detached or partially detached front bumper creates a potential road hazard. A bumper that separates while driving could fall onto the roadway, creating a danger for other motorists and increasing the risk of additional crashes. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate: The frequency and mileage range of front bumper clamp failures on 2022-present Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Whether the bumper retention components meet durability and safety standards. Whether Jeep/Stellantis was aware of this issue and failed to provide an adequate remedy. Whether a recall or safety campaign is necessary to prevent bumpers from becoming roadway hazards. Please review this matter before additional failures result in property damage, crashes, or injuries. Thank you for your attention to this potential safety defect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | This is the 3rd internal mechanical failure of the front electronic disconnecting sway bar assembly on my Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe. The component keeps failing prematurely (most recently after only 3,000 miles), causing severe front-end looseness and clunking. This is a critical part of the suspension and it has failed 3x in 14k miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2026 | SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC | The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed searching for a parking spot, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard; however, the vehicle crashed into three unoccupied parked vehicles. The contact stated that the vehicle crashed into the passenger’s side of one vehicle and sideswiped the front passenger's side of another vehicle and sideswiped the front driver's side of the third vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local collision center. No injuries were sustained. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer for a diagnostic test; however, the diagnostic test was inconclusive. In addition, there was an unknown error message temporarily displayed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Towed | 35,000 |
| Jun 2026 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | As I was driving the warning system alerting me to BRAKE! came on and jerked the vehicle to a stop even though no one was in front of me and there were no cars next to me either. Extremely dangerous to have the vehicle stop out of the blue while driving 20 mph. The component has not been inspected yet and the warning lights came on the dashboard. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My wife was driving our jeep and it suddenly shifted into park while slamming the brakes on its own. She had to stay in the middle of the road shut it off & then start up and drive again but it keep happening the whole 20 mins stopping ride home. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Loss of propulsion while driving Yes it is available for inspection upon request Complete and total loss of propulsion/acceleration when pressing on gas pedal while driving and going into a left turn across oncoming traffic; driver and five year old passenger in the vehicle at the time of incident. Safely maneuvered the vehicle to the side of the roadway. Dealership has not been able to recreate the problem. Vehicle has been at dealership service department since May 14, 2026, immediately after incident. Vehicle was able to be driven to dealership after incident. Incident reported to Stellantis May 28, 2026. Stated that the report would be escalated and I would be contacted via email in 1-2 business days. No direct manufacturer inspection at this time, and police/insurance company were not contacted as there was no accident to report. Safety recall 73C in regard to this matter was completed September 26, 2025 according to Stellantis customer service and recall information available for the VIN of this vehicle. No warning lights/messages/symptoms of the problem prior to incident. During incident and after loss of propulsion started, "D" started flashing on the dash console and the gear shift knob, and I was unable to shift out of drive. After approximately 5 minutes, the vehicle put itself in park and engaged the emergency brake. Video of part of the incident available upon request | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | SUSPENSION | Rear right coil spring violently detached and flew across my garage. Fortunately we were not driving it on the Florida Turnpike at the time and none of my family was in the garage when it explosively ejected. We took it to the dealership, Napleton’s Jeep, on February 23, 2026 for its annual service and explicitly directed them to repair or correct any recalls. They said they could not perform the coil spring repair because “Parts Not Available” but assured us it had been inspected and was determined to not be defective or a risk. This is VERY disturbing because it could have killed us if we had been driving at the time and could have seriously injured or killed someone if it had exploded free when people were nearby (ex: in the garage, grocery store parking lot, club parking lot, etc.). There are no warning lamps to even advise that something has occurred - other than finding the enormous spring that put a giant dent in my garage door. I have multiple major work matters, an 8 figure mediation and two court hearings, which require me to drive to Fort Lauderdale this week so I had to spend $50 on an Uber to get a rental car last night and $210 on the rental car. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | SUSPENSION | The jeep was parked in our garage. When returning to the garage the right rear coil spring was laying on the garage floor. The jeep is stock. There was no accident or pothole event. The spring or mount broke or failed unexpectedly while the jeep was parked in our garage. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Hybrid/battery system is locked out and fails to operate in freezing weather (FORM status malfunction) Both winters I have owned this vehicle it will not operate on battery from mid-September until March or April. None of the ridiculous "fixes" do anything including oil changes, fuel additions or driving for 2 hours (!) to burn off oil in the fuel, all tried multiple times. I have dash photos and log of this malfunction. The dealership has been useless and unable to offer any fix or suggestions. JEEP Cares doesn't care. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The vehicle loss drive power in the middle of driving several times back to back, a red wrench and a message saying to service hybrid system warning appeared. Purchased used in September 2025, had open recall fixed and later recall fixed after in early 2026. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | High Voltage Battery (hybrid battery) has excessive drain when parked. This was noticed after completing the 68C recall. In any temperature it drains 8-12% over 12 hours. I noticed it happening when it was 65-75 degrees, so not hot and not cold. I brought it in for a repair once, it spent 3 weeks at the dealership and was claimed fixed but it's still doing it. It is known problem on the forums as well after the 68C recall. No warning lights. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle unexpectedly lowered and started pulling to the right. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road, and the contact exited to inspect the vehicle but found no failure. The vehicle was taken to the residence, and then to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the axle and passenger’s side rear tension link were bent and lodged into the knuckle, the passenger steering knuckle was fractured with a fractured bolt inside, and the passenger’s side rear tension link, CV axle, and steering knuckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred approximately 8 weeks later on the driver's side. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear passenger’s side of the vehicle, and the vehicle started pulling to the left. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and inspected, but the contact found no visible failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the driver's side rear axle and driver's side rear tension link were bent and had lodged into the knuckle, the driver's side steering knuckle was fractured with a fractured bolt inside, and the driver's side rear tension link, CV axle, and steering knuckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 62,000 |
| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | I am filing a formal safety complaint regarding my hybrid Jeep vehicle due to ongoing and unresolved safety issues that present a significant risk to myself and others. Since the beginning of ownership, I have experienced repeated and escalating problems with the vehicle, including: * Hybrid system malfunction warnings and persistent red wrench indicator * Aggressive and unsafe gear shifting while driving * Vehicle stalling unexpectedly * Vehicle intermittently failing to turn on or shut off properly In addition to these critical concerns, my vehicle has been under Recall 68C since October 2025. To date, there has been no available remedy provided. I have been explicitly instructed not to park the vehicle in a garage or near structures and to avoid charging the vehicle due to an increased risk of fire. This situation has created significant hardship and safety concerns. I am unable to safely use or store my vehicle as intended. I have also been informed that potential fire damage related to this issue may not be covered by homeowners insurance, further increasing the risk and liability I am being forced to assume. Despite repeated attempts to address these issues through proper channels, including dealership service visits and manufacturer communication, no resolution has been provided. This vehicle poses a clear safety hazard due to: * Risk of fire associated with the hybrid battery system * Unpredictable stalling and drivetrain behavior while in operation * Lack of manufacturer remedy for an active safety recall I am requesting immediate investigation, accountability, and corrective action to ensure the safety of consumers affected by this issue | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | See attached document for complaint. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FIRERELATED | The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V741000 (Electrical System) and 25V576000 (Electrical System). The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off in the driveway, she heard popping noises and saw smoke coming from underneath the vehicle near the rear passenger seat. The contact called the fire department, which responded and extinguished the fire. The firefighters cut the battery lines, removed the battery, and pushed the vehicle away from the contact's home. A hazmat team arrived and sprayed water on the battery for three hours. A fire department report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the manufacturer's investigation unit inspected the vehicle and determined that the failure was related to the battery. The contact was informed that the battery failure was covered under warranty, which was extended. The insurance company was notified of the failure, but informed the contact that the battery was not covered by the policy. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of drive power four to six months before the failure, which she related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V576000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and two cases were filed. The manufacturer issued a letter instructing the dealer to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000. | Crash: No Fire: Yes Towed | 47,000 |
| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,BACK OVER PREVENTION | The rear parking collision warning abruptly stopped working. The engine smells like it’s burning. The recall 68c has no remedy currently. My neighborhood is at risk due to this outstanding issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,WHEELS | I am reporting a systemic safety failure involving a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee sold as a "Certified Pre-Owned" (CPO) vehicle. Despite the mandatory 125-point CPO safety inspection, the vehicle was delivered with multiple safety-critical defects that should have prevented certification. Primary Safety Risks: Suspension/Stability: The vehicle exhibits vibration and instability at all speeds, resulting in a loss of steering stability and difficulty maintaining lane position at highway speed. Tire Integrity: The vehicle was sold with dry-rotted tires, indicating structural degradation that poses a high risk of catastrophic failure/blowout. Electrical/Powertrain: The Auto Start/Stop system is faulty. Additionally, the paddle shifters are non-functional, which interferes with manual gear selection and driver control over the powertrain. The selling dealership has refused to acknowledge these defects or bring the vehicle into compliance with manufacturer safety standards. Furthermore, Stellantis Corporate has failed to provide a safety compliance review. These mechanical and electrical defects existed at the time of sale and represent a failure of the CPO safety process. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | July 31, 2024, purchased a new 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summitt (Hybrid) from local Chrysler/Dodge dealer in Las Vegas Nevada. Keeping this very high level, after the 3rd day the vehicle would not start. The dealer sent technician to our home however finally had to be towed to the dealer. The dealer inspected the vehicle on several occasions while continuing to work directly manufacture, however after weeks had been advised the parts did not fix the issue. Opened case (xxxxxxxx) with parent company of Chrysler (Stellantis). week after week customer service said they are working on the issue. Finally, at around 45 days we had to buy another vehicle based on need for transportation. Along the way we make vehicle & insurance payments every month. Additionally, we received a recall notice that the vehicle was subject to a fire. Do not park in or around buildings. At the 80-day mark we advised the dealer to get us out of this vehicle. Dealer said the vehicle is now a used car so must face deprecation plus loss of down payment. Based on no fix to original problem and risk of fire. Stellantis advised now that we do not own the Jeep, we are not eligible for any assistance or compensation for loss and thus Cased closed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been out of service at a dealership since January 22 due to a safety recall involving the high-voltage battery. The manufacturer has no repair available and no estimated timeline. I have no access to my vehicle and have been forced to pay for rental cars out of pocket, with only partial reimbursement. The vehicle has now been out of service for over 50 days. I am requesting assistance with a buyback or full resolution of this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
