| Feb 2023 | ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | This is an update on my Ram, 114499224 case. Yesterday Feb 1, 2023 I drove about 6 miles from my house and as I turned left in a mall parking lot my truck engine shut of and when I touched the brake the transmission went abruptly into park and the emergency brake activated. I got the truck started and after a brief stop at the mall I drove back home, and only about a half mile from my home and as I was turning off a main road into my subdivision the truck shut off again and the emergency brake activated and the transmission went into park. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | After reviewing all the correct settings to engage alert and braking on the Ram Limited the vehicle under no circumstances will provide an alert or engage braking. In 4 months and 4,000 miles of driving several errant drivers have come within a foot of the truck and several pedestrians have stepped in front of our path. It will not alert to any issues. I opened a case with Stelantis and they have the nerve to say you can call after a wreck and tell us later if it failed. They have no testing allowed and no software to calibrate. Many people on Ram forums even in my home town of San Diego are making this same claim. We have the feature on our older Mercedes and it works very nicely and is something we paid a great deal extra for. Stelantis is hiding behind a known issue and both dealers that have tried to diagnose it were told to send the truck home as is. This feature saves lives it's a priority feature. Just today after leaving the dealer 60 miles from our house a car changed 4 lanes in front and I had to slam on the brakes. No intervention from the truck happened. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN | My vehicle is equipped with a dial for gear shifting. While stopped at a light I was adjusting the radio. As I took my foot off the brake but before I placed it on the accelerator I was also moving my hand from the radio controls back to the steering wheel. During the transition it brushed across the shifting dial causing the vehicle to shift from drive to reverse. I feel this could have caused an accident had I not realized what I had done and put my foot on the accelerator. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | SUSPENSION,WHEELS,SERVICE BRAKES | The vehicle’s wheel, brake, suspension, and electrical systems have all failed since June 2022. The wheel and suspension systems have been attempted to be repaired multiple times by two different Chrysler Dodge dealerships. To no avail, no resolve. In fact while I was driving the highway after picking up the vehicle this last time, the tailgate opened and triggered the backup camera emergency brakes. We stopped instantly in the middle of the highway. We didn’t hear or know about a recall until three weeks later when we got a letter in the mail. The dealer we purchased the vehicle from did not reach out. All of the problems associated with the truck have been acknowledged by the dealer, second opinion dealership, and Chrysler. The vehicle is a lemon. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Purchased the vehicle new, after 10,000 miles driving without any problem I hooked up my truck to my snowmobile trailer to tow it on December 21, 2022 for the first time during the evening hours. I setup my vehicles trailer settings to light duty electric brake settings mode and began pulling my trailer. I just turned left onto the road coming up onto a stop sign going slow the vehicle stalled and the emergency truck brakes turned on and the truck shifted into park. I then placed the truck into Tow mode and got onto the expressway without an issue, when I turned off of the expressway I slowly turned right into a business and the truck stalled, emergency brakes went on and truck went into park. I called La Fontaine dealership whom I purchased the truck from, and they could not inspect it for 1 month. I dropped the truck off to them on Jan 16 and finally was able to pick it back up on the 20th evening. They did not test with a trailer, and I was told that everything was working properly. I opened a case number with Chrysler [XXX] and was told on Jan 25th that they spoke with the dealership and there is nothing more they can do, and if there are any more issues take it to a dealership. I have not pulled this trailer again with my vehicle in fear that it will stall and stop on the road creating an accident. | Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Sometimes when i go to come to a stop, my truck stalls, engages the parking brake and shift itself into park. this happens before the truck comes to a complete stop and has happened at least half a dozen times. The check engine light has stayed on after a re-start of the vehicle and when this happens the charging light comes on also. Safety was put at risk because this could very easily cause a collision at an intersection, thanfully it hasnt yet. The truck goes into the dealer on jan. 31st to look at the issue. No warning lamps or warnings are ever present prior to the system failure. The check engine light stayed on the last time this happened which was last night. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | Transmission jumped out of gear while on major higway. Vehicle is at the dealership. Three times the vehicle jumped out of gear while driving on a major highway, had to make my way to the shoulder of the road without causing an accident. Dealership has had the vehicle since Dec 12, 2022 No warning lights or messages. Issue accured between Nov 1, 2022 to Dec 12, 2022 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The wiring harness on the vehicle is fastened to the frame poorly. I had to reattach it with plastic wire/zip ties in 3 different locations. I brought the truck home from being serviced at a RAM dealership and it had a very strong smell of burning plastic when I brought it home. This was not the smell of residual oil but a very definite smell of burning plastic. I brought it to the a different RAM dealership the next day to have the oil change corrected in Buffalo, MN and they didn’t visually see anything from underneath the truck. Since this incident I noticed an oil leak on the front of the engine, another failed plastic wire tie in the engine bay and two others that look as if they will pull from their fastened location. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The failure mileage was 695. | Crash: No Fire: No | 695 |
| Jan 2023 | STRUCTURE | My truck is 2 weeks old. I was driving to pick my child up from school, and the sun roof exploded spontaneously spraying glass all over me and causing me to almost wreck the truck. This sounded like a gun shot in my ear and there is glass everywhere. I had to be very careful pulling off the road so I did not get cut or injured. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Water intrusion into front of cab. Leaking from storage cavity at top of windshield. May have been the cause of failure of heated seat and heated steering wheel assembly. Dealer has been notified of water leak, and has asked for video evidence prior to repair. Further research has stated that other electrical systems (including key safety components) can be damaged by water leaking from above, as well as mold growth in the headliner. There was no warning, and I only happened to notice when entering into the truck on a rainy day. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | SUSPENSION,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES | I started my truck to go to work and 3 warning came on, the abs system, the traction control service, and 4x4 disengaged. This vehicle has 16,100 miles on it. I tried to drive it to the dealership for repair and the rear tires are locked up. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission shifted into the park(P) independently and the contact was unable to shift the gear selector afterward. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle and was able to shift out of the park(P). No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred on various occasions. Additionally, after reversing and attempting to shift into drive(D), the transmission remained in the park(P). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer on five occasions; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 100,000 |
| Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | Driving vehicle at approximately 15 MPH when vehicle accelerated on its own and would not stop by depressing foot brake. Had to put vehicle into neutral and use emergency brake to stop. At the same time several dash warning lights illuminated. Such included but was not limited to, throttle control, trailer tow assist, check engine, brake assist control, etc. The vehicle was parked and unmoved until it was towed to dealership. Upon towing the check engine and throttle control lights remained illuminated. Per dealership, no light is illuminated and no issue with vehicle. Located a number of additional similar issues with Ram’s online with no recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | There seems to be a design flaw in the Rams defrost system. The front defrost vent only produces air in the middle 12" of the 30" vent. With reduced to zero air coming out the outter ends of the vent, the drviers vision becomes extremely impaired in freezing and inclement weather. With the defrost on high, it can not timely remove the frosting or fogging of the window. Due to this design flaw I was in a near miss incident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | VISIBILITY | The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the front windshield became foggy. The contact stated that the defroster was not working properly. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V871000 (Visibility). The failure mileage was 6,500. | Crash: No Fire: No | 6,500 |

It been to the dealership three time. no code show up. 12 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Three times while at a stop sign the emergency brake has been activated, the engine has shut off and the transmission has shifted to park. There were no vehicles in front or back of me and no vehicles at the side. One of those times it took several minutes to get the truck started and moving, the other two times it was fairly quick. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | While driving the vehicle at low speed two warning lights/messages appeared: “Service electronic stability control, and auto start/stop unavailable/service auto start/stop.” Auto start/stop no longer functions and neither does ESC, which is a safety hazard. Have appointment to have car serviced at dealer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | The front windshield would not defrost. I had viability only in the center. The two sides were iced up and would not clear. There is flow from the center section and little or no flow on the sides. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | I reported the defrost problem previously. Reference # 11498898. The front window on the sides would not clear the ice. I had been driving for 45 minutes. Not much air comes out of the dash on the sides. I have since downloaded a video of my window instead of just a picture. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | STRUCTURE | This multifunction (split tailgate) will not close properly. I must slam it shut multiple time before it will latch properly. The dealership has tried to fix it multiple times and has been unsuccessful in doing so. They tell me I have to live with it now. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Sat. 7/16/22 ~ 3:05pm (7,427 mi) - While pulling out of my neighborhood onto the main road, the truck abruptly shut itself off, went into PARK & applied the e-Brake with my truck sticking into the roadway about a foot (& another vehicle behind me). Oncoming traffic in the lane was able to go around me still. Thankfully traffic was light and I wasn’t stuck further out in the road when it happened… or Mon-Fri when it’s busier. I noticed the “Battery” fault symbol on the dash but was able to restart the truck, release the e-brake, and get it in DRIVE again to get going again. During the rest of the 35 min drive to work, I had the digital gauges up on the radio and could see the battery voltage was at 11.9v - 12.0v for the entire drive to work. Sun. 7/17/22 ~ 12:15am to 12:45am - After sitting for 8hrs, I came out expecting to need a jumpstart to get home and found the truck started right up. I pulled up the digital gauges on the radio and the dash cluster and saw the battery voltage was at 13.9v -14.0v. That seemed weird, but perhaps the 48v Li eTorque Battery recharged the 12v system? During the 35min drive home from work, I noticed the battery voltage continued to drop to 13.3v, 13,2v, & 13.0v by the time I got home. Mon. 7/18/22 ~ 7:30am - Dropped the truck off to get it looked at/potential issue entered into the system. Dealer kept the truck for a few days, making several small trips with the truck and couldn't replicate the issue. Tue. 12/14/22 ~ 3:03 pm (15,222 miles) - while making a left turn from onto a side road the truck abruptly shut itself off, went into PARK & applied the e-Brake with my truck stuck in the oncoming Lane. Oncoming traffic luckily stopped for me to clear the road. Same scenario as before, with the “Battery” fault symbol on the dash but was able to start the truck, release the e-brake, and get it in DRIVE again to get going again. During the rest of the 30 min drive the digital gauges show the battery at 11.8v to 12.0v. 2hrs later fine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Vehicle is equipped with “e-torque” auto stop/start feature. Was driving vehicle about 20-25 mph on road within grocery store parking lot area and approached stop sign. As I came to a stop the vehicle shut the engine off like normal and as I released the brake (which is when the vehicle automatically starts again) it started and I turned right to have the engine shut off again with no warning. Vehicle came to stop on road with traffic and automatically shifted vehicle into park and set e-brake. I didn’t know what happened at the moment and was confused why I lost power. I started the engine again and shifted into drive and deactivated the parking brake. Called dealer immediately after and made an appt for vehicle to be seen. No warning lights persisted after the incident took place. Seems like a very serious safety issue that should be investigated. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
