| May 2026 | ENGINE | Am having issues with my 22 Ram 1500 limited 4x4 with the 5.7 HEMI MDS. there are issues with this engine since 2009. The MDS lifters and cam shaft do not get enough oil. They already replaced the cam shaft and oil pan pickup. Now they have my truck for over 3 weeks to replace the engine. The only problem is that they are replacing it with the same one and hoping again that nothing goes wrong. Called Ram and was basically told too bad. And i have another vehicle with the same engine and it's starting to do the same thing my engine was doing. Asked them to use non MDS so it won't happed again but was basically told too bad. Do not think this is fair since they have known about this problem since 09. If I would have known this,I would have not purchased the 2 vehicles. I think the resolution should be that they install non MDS parts now and when it happens to my 23 JEEP WAGONEER. | May 2026 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | On [XXX] at approximately [XXX], my 2022 RAM 1500 (VIN [XXX] ), equipped with the 5.7L V8 Hemi eTorque mild-hybrid system and currently at 45,000 miles, experienced a sudden engine shutdown and complete loss of throttle response while traveling approximately 25 mph on [XXX] , heading toward Colonia in active evening traffic. The accelerator pedal became unresponsive, the vehicle began coasting, and within seconds the truck shifted itself into PARK and engaged the parking brake automatically. I had to release the parking brake to move the vehicle off the road. After restarting, which required noticeably more cranking than normal, and disabling the auto-brake feature, I attempted to drive again. Within roughly 15 seconds the throttle was sluggish, the rear wheels chirped as the truck jerked and bucked, and the engine died a second time, again shifting into PARK and engaging the parking brake. The safety risk was significant: a sudden, uncommanded loss of motive power on a public road, followed by automatic PARK engagement and parking brake activation in active traffic, created a high risk of a rear-end collision and left me with no throttle control to safely position the vehicle. The only warning indication was a red battery icon that illuminated on the dashboard during the stall events themselves. There were no warning lights, messages, or other symptoms in the days or weeks leading up to the failure. I did experience a single similar stall some time ago during extremely cold weather, but yesterday was a warm day, so a cold-temperature correlation does not appear to apply here. The vehicle has not yet been inspected or the problem reproduced by a dealer, independent service center, manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. After a nearly four-hour wait for a tow truck, the vehicle was transported to Liccardi Ram and is available for inspection upon request. | May 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Purchased my used RAM October 2024. On 5 occasions the engine stalled while driving. Lost all power and rolled to a stop when the parking brake engaged. Most recent incident was May 17, 2026. I went to my dealer with this complaint May 14th, there were no codes and I was told truck was operating as designed. I am unable to duplicate the event - but it happens when I slow down and then speed up - Stop sign, parking lot etc. Potentially I could have run over someone or crashed or someone could have struck me. I received no warning before the stall. The check engine light did not come on. While stalled the following messages appeared on my dashboard 1. press brake and push button to start; 2. Shifter autocorrect active; 3. Park brake auto engaged press brake + push switch to release. The truck restarted but battery light remained on and the lightning bolt red light stayed on. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | VISIBILITY | Part affected Coolant system-heater core and coolant engine components are prone to premature failure exposing driver and passengers to breathing in strong coolant fumes. Also engine temperatures rise to extremely high levels causing engine failure while driving causing potential for serious harm or death. The problem has been reproduced on a regular basis. The vehicle has been inspected. There is no warning signs or lamps unless your dash menu is set specifically to digital temperature settings. Extremely strong breathable coolant is obvious almost immediately when heat is activated. Thousands of online complaints are listed and to the Ram Stellantis Company. | May 2026 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My son was driving down the road and the truck shut off in the middle turn lane. He safety was at risk because he was stranded in the middle of the road and everyone was driving around him. The truck was towed to the dealership and was found to have a faulty fuel pump. There was no warning light the truck just shut down. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE | The check engine light and the battery warning lights came on. Took it to the dealership and they diagnosed the problem to be the MOTOR GENERATING UNIT (MGU). This is a known problem with the ram truck. The parts to fix it are on back order at a minimum of 45 days. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | STRUCTURE | The visors on both sides will just detach and unexpectedly fall from the roof of the truck while you are driving. They are fairly big and when they detach and fall it poses a risk of crashing. I have researched this and it seems to be a problem with many Ram trucks. I am very surprised there has not been a recall of this hazard yet. The drivers side visor fell off last June 2025. I was able to get it repaired at a Dodge dealership at no charge as it was under warranty still. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| May 2026 | STEERING | The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel seized with no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to turn, and the electronic stability control warning light illuminated after the failure. The dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 58,000 |
| May 2026 | VISIBILITY | The vehicle appears to have common issue of heater core going out and leaking coolant, causing poisonous fume to be pushed through the ventilation system causing respiratory issues. During my research i noticed this is common and a costly issue which many drivers complain about and cars warrant does not repair this issue. Due to its safety and health concerns this matter should be looked into in Ram should be held accountable. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My car just stopped and turned off. On the screen it says service electronic stability control. And power steering unavailable and service immediately. I serviced the car on April 24th. I received the car April 29th and they said they had to flash the computers and it would take 1.5 hours. I paid 330 dollars. I drove the car off and 15-20 min later the car cut off. I called the dealership and told them and they said they have to get the car back in the shop. I have additional documents. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | On April 27, 2026, I attempted to start my 2022 Ram under normal conditions. The vehicle became stuck in an abnormal ignition state between on and off and would not function properly. Shortly after, the vehicle began exhibiting erratic electrical behavior, including the power windows moving up and down on their own without input. At the same time, I lost control of the vehicle. The power steering locked, and I was unable to turn the wheel. The brake pedal also locked and could not be pressed. I attempted multiple times to shut the vehicle off using the push-button ignition, but it would only make a loud clicking sound and would not power down. The electrical system remained active and unresponsive. I also noticed a strong sulfur-like odor coming from the vehicle, consistent with a possible battery or electrical failure. Due to the loss of control, electrical malfunction, and odor, I determined the vehicle was unsafe to operate. AAA roadside assistance was called. The driver (Paul “Willie” from the Thunderbird office) also attempted to shut the vehicle off but was unsuccessful. He noted the sulfur smell and stated it appeared to be an electrical issue. Because the vehicle could not be placed in neutral, he used a screwdriver to access the manual panel and pull the neutral release cord to allow towing. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. Upon arrival, the key fob was taken into the office, but the truck remained running in the parking lot without the key fob present. This failure occurred without warning and represents a serious safety concern due to loss of steering, braking, and inability to shut off the vehicle. The vehicle is used by my family, and I do not feel it is safe to operate until the issue is fully diagnosed and repaired. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that the engine and battery warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle lost automotive power while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the motor generator unit (MGU) had failed. The dealer confirmed the part had been on back order for six months. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about a loaner vehicle, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 50,000 |
| Apr 2026 | SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My 2022 Ram 1500 TRX has recurring safety-related failures of the infotainment system affecting Uconnect 5 (12” screen). These issues are widespread in 2021–2024 Ram TRX and Ram 1500 models and began or worsened after forced over-the-air updates. The primary defect is black-screen failures while driving. When the screen goes black or freezes, the truck loses all functions controlled through the display, including HVAC/defrost, backup camera, vehicle settings, seat controls, and performance gauges. This creates an immediate safety hazard: I cannot adjust climate/defrost, cannot see the required rear-view camera when shifting to reverse, and cannot access key vehicle information. Owners across multiple years consistently report: • Black screens, freezes, and reboots • Loss of HVAC control and dual-zone functions • Backup camera not displaying • Backup camera freezing with picture • Vehicle/Apps tabs failing to open • Uconnect error messages • Smaller, harder-to-read gauges after updates • Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto failures • No option to decline or roll back OTA updates These failures distract the driver, remove access to federally required equipment (rear camera), and eliminate visibility and climate controls that directly affect safe operation. The system becomes unpredictable and unstable despite the vehicle being in motion. My vehicle experiences the same issues, including what was listed above Because this affects essential safety-related controls and visibility, I believe this is a safety defect in Ram/Stellantis Uconnect 5 systems. I request NHTSA open a defect investigation and require Ram to correct these failures. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Vehicle stalls when trying to accelerate. Stalled in the middle of intersection with on coming traffic numerous times | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | On 3/28/2026 my vehicle decided to engage the emergency brake, shift into park and turn engine off at the intersection with oncoming traffic approaching causing several vehicles to dangerously navigate around my vehicle to avoid an accident | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | Truck has stopped completely including brakes and truck shutting completely off three times, causing almost collisions three times now. This is an extreme safety risk, this vehicle was just purchased from dealer three month ago and all maintenance and recalls thus far have been dealt with | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE | Truck shut off and emergency brake came on the truck finally restarted after a few minutes i released parking brake and drove home luckily it happened in a empty parking lot | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Turning left from a stop sign, engine turned off in the middle of the intersection and parking brake was automatically applied. max speed achieved approximately 5mph. Red Battery dash light was illuminated. Dash instructions were to press brake pedal and push park brake release button. after completing I was able to shift to park and restart the vehicle. Red battery dash light remained. After moving vehicle to a safe location I turning off the vehicle, waited 20 seconds, and restarted it. battery light was good and digital voltage gauge showing 13.9V. no further issues on the commute to work. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | [XXX] I was local driving and my Ram truck got silent and engine died. I still had power steering. When I rolled to a stop the message said "press brake and put in park". The truck put itself in park before I pressed the brake pedal. It took 3 attempts to get my truck started. I drove to Walker dealer in Alexandria, La., and reported problem. Service advisor put a computer on the truck and it had a code. We made an appointment for 4-7-26 to get it resolved. I left my truck at the dealership at 8:30am and picked it up at 5pm. Advisor said they fixed a code and everything else checked out in OK status. That part was under warranty so no charge. The same thing happened last summer but I did not report it as I was able to start the truck and thought I had done something wrong. I am scared to make a trip anywhere and leave me stranded. I now make sure I have towing coverage. Because it is something that has to do with computers, I have to stay close to a dealership because their computer tools are proprietary. The truck gave no warning or indication of any kind. It just died. I keep all my paperwork from the dealership. I bought the truck with 2000 miles on it. | Apr 2026 | TIRES | The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500 equipped with Goodyear Tires, Tire Line: Fortitude H/T Tires, Tire Size: 275/65/R18, DOT Number: 14BYJJK1R. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that all four tires were cracked on the sidewalls, and the treads were crumbling and separated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was offered a discount on the purchase of a new set of tires. The contact stated that the tires were poorly manufactured and unsafe. The tires and vehicle failure mileage were approximately 17,900. | Crash: No Fire: No | 17,900 |
| Apr 2026 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving my Ram 1500 5.7L eTorque this morning (2022, ~36k miles). About 10 minutes in, I was stopped at a light and the truck shut down completely (engine, electric, etc.) There was no prior notice, nor was it having problems. When I tried to go as the light turned green, obviously the truck did not go. I noticed several panel lights come on, including the battery light. There was also a message that said something to the extent that the emergency brake had automatically engaged and needed to be released. After a minute, I was able to re-start the car and drive home. Cars behind me honked, and eventually went around me. I have an appointment to take the truck in, but no diagnosis as of now. I did research and read that this a known problem with the 5.7L eTorque, and that some trucks have been recalled (NHTSA Recall 23V-235) for similar issues, and there is also on ongoing investigation for others that were not part of the recall. My experience is similar to everything I've seen/read reported by other drivers (e.g., seemingly random stall with no prior warning, certain dash lights coming on, auto-engagement of the parking break). | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
