Aug 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I’ve got a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe with about 55,000 miles on it. Earlier this year (2025) I started getting a dashboard warning - a red wrench icon with a lightning bolt with a message “service hybrid electric vehicle system”. The message would appear for about five seconds then disappear. Nothing showed up in the notices under Vehicle … System and there were no problems operating the vehicle. It is a plug-in hybrid. I continued to charge the vehicle at my home 40-amp charger. The first few times it happened I ignored it. After a third message I started worrying and contacted the dealership. \\\\n\\\\nI brought the Vehicle in for service on Tuesday July 22. The dealer diagnosed a digital crash code B273C-00. They recommended a repair as described in TSB is 08-116-25 REV. A for the Wrangler 4xe, saying the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee have identical systems, however, the repair is covered under warranty only for the Wrangler. I approved the repair and paid about $600. I've asked Jeep (via the Jeep Cares service, case 93915325) to consider covering the repair and refunding me. \\\\n\\\\nSince getting the car back 2 weeks ago I've put on about 1,200 miles and the message has not recurred. I won't be persuaded the problem is fixed until after about 6 months of driving. \\\\n\\\\nOther owners who have had digital crash messages on the Jeep Cherokee have experienced loss of power, systems failure and similar problems and advised me to report my incident, so I have in case it will help improve the safety of the vehicle.

Aug 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE On April 12th my husband and I were driving our Jeep after it had a recall and update to fix the recall of a battery issue on all 4xE models. We were doing 45 mph down the road and it threw an error code that said “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System”, “Service Emergency Braking System” the Jeep then shut off and said for us to push the brake and press start for us to turn the car on in the middle of the road. We were able to safely get off the road, when we came to a stop the car put itself into park automatically. We had to start it a couple of times to make sure it was ok to turn around and drive home. It was then towed to the dealership. They told us they could see the issue logged in the system but they could not replicate the same issue after driving it. They told us that we had to come and pick up the Jeep and I told them how unsafe that made me feel for us and everyone on the road. They told us there’s nothing they could do for us. We got the car back and another issue arose where are Passive Entry Switch became corroded and our car kept unlocking itself throughout the night. The day we got it back from them we were driving it and we got the same “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System” again. So I brought our Jeep back again and they told me in the service department they’ve been working with the engineers at Jeep and they are waiting for an update to fix it and it’s one of four in the area with this issue and Jeep is fully aware of the severity of the issue. They also told me they would be holding on to our car until it’s fixed. I was called by the head of the service department at that dealership and was told they need their loaner car back and they got word they’ll maybe have a fix for our car in November. They knowingly gave us our completely unsafe Jeep back and told us to try for Lemon Law - with all parties knowing the severity of the security and lives put at risk on the road. We have gotten this error code many times and are told there is no fix

Aug 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I have code B273C-00 digital crash input on my jeep. This is the code dealerships were informed if they see this code the vehicles have to be grounded. At this time, there is no remedy for the grand cherokees. The dealership can't release my jeep back due to safety reasons, and it's been with them for over an month and counting.

Aug 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The entire Jeep failed. Every light, warning, service, etc came up when cranking, and then it went dead. Now, it will not crank at all. Additionally, the trunk will not open and no power pops up on dashboard or display. This is put my family at risk due to the vehicle being parked next to my home with a possible shortage. No one has confirmed or checked, due to it being a Saturday. No warning was given prior.

Aug 2025 AIR BAGS While parked my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, front passenger seat airbag deployed unexpectedly without any collision or impact. The deployment caused damage to the seat and could be a serious safety risk. I later learned there is a recall for similar models due to improperly secured side airbag connectors, but my VIN is not currently included. I believe my vehicle may have the same defect and request immediate inspection and repair at no cost, as this is a safety-critical failure.

Aug 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE After having my 22 Jeep Grand Cherokee at OBX Jeep in NC for over 10 months for electrical and camera issues it was shipped to Brown Daub Jeep in Easton, PA for overdue PA State Inspection due to the length of the repair in NC. Supposedly OBX Jeep said it was repaired but car immediately had electrical issues including FCW OFF dash light. The PA Jeep dealer corrected electrical issues following Jeep Star Publication and it was returned to me July 3, 2025. FCW OFF dash light has come back on on [XXX] and OBX Jeep is indicating I must again leave it with them to further diagnose the issue. Aug 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE While driving, the vehicle suddenly shuts down without any prior warning. When this happens, I lose steering and braking capabilities until the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The vehicle must then be towed to the service center, where they reset the fault codes in the computer system and return the vehicle to me. There are two recurring diagnostic trouble codes associated with this issue: Digital Crash Input HCP Code The manufacturer and dealership have stated they have no solution for this defect and have advised me to continue driving the vehicle despite the unresolved safety problem. This defect is extremely dangerous — I have been in several situations where I was nearly involved in an accident when the vehicle shut down during motion.

Aug 2025 STEERING,SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The hybrid battery had the potential to catch fire and it was recalled for a software update, the 95b update. After this software update was completed, the vehicle would completely shut down, regardless of being parked or while driving. The dealership deemed the vehicle "unsafe to drive" and has provided a loaner until they can correct the problem. In addition to this, the front suspension has been worked on many times, approximately 5-6 times to remedy a clinking noise when turning at full turn. Currently, they have not been able to remedy this problem. The manufacturer has refused to do a buy back on the vehicle, yet also refuses to give the vehicle back due to, in their words; "It is unsafe to drive".

Aug 2025 POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES I am a victim of SUA (sudden unintended acceleration. I entered my driveway and had my foot on the brake petal. Before I could shift into Park, the vehicle revved to a high RPM and then took off like a rocket. Brakes were initially hard to press and then the petal went to the floor, and I lost the brakes. This all happened very quickly and took me by surprise. I crashed through a double cyclone gate, closed garage door, back of the garage, double fence in back of garage, neighbors jacuzie and shed, hit the side of another neighbor's house and AC unit. It seemed that the power train electronics malfunctioned and caused all of this. Progressive insurance took procession of the vehicle and declared it a total loss.

Aug 2025 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM While driving on the freeway, the vehicle suddenly lost all power and control. The “Service Hybrid System” warning began flashing, and I experienced a complete powertrain failure. As the vehicle coasted down to under 5 mph, it abruptly slammed into the electronic parking brake and came to a hard stop. This created a serious safety hazard not only for me but for other drivers on the road. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership, where it required a jump-start to regain power. The dealer has been unable to replicate the issue, and no diagnostic trouble codes were found during their scan. Despite this, the failure was severe and unpredictable. There were no warning lights or symptoms prior to the event. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection.

Aug 2025 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES Multiple warnings with the service hybrid system alert coming on the dash. Code B273C-00 was confirmed by the technician at the Napleton Jeep service department. Vehicle can shut off at any time at any speed and there is no resolution at this time to fix the issue. When accelerating over uneven surfaces, the vehicle bucks back and forth violently. This concern was verified with the technician at Napleton Jeep. The shop Foreman contacted Chrysler zone engineering and confirmed that they are aware of this issue but there is no current resolution for this issue. This is highly dangerous when pulling out into traffic.

Aug 2025 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM On three different occasions, the Jeep randomly turned off on its own. Each time I was stopped, so thankfully I was not injured. I brought it to two different dealerships, one in May 2025 and one in July 2025, and neither of them could fix it. The last dealership advised me not to drive the vehicle due to the safety implications of a stall during driving due to "the digital crash input issue". As a result, I sold my Jeep and bought another vehicle. The vehicle was still under warranty when I sold it.

Aug 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER Car completely shut off while saying the electrical hybrid system needed to be serviced. Car turned back on and light was off. Check engine light going on and off as well. When going lower speeds the cars rpms rev all the way up, almost to the red, and while your pressing the gas doesn’t move but then jerks and goes forward. Your head slams into the seat and it’s extremely unsafe especially if you are in stop and go traffic. The car has been spitting and sputtering. Brought it to the dealership I just purchased it from, I’ve only made one payment. They stated that Chrysler is aware of the problem but that there is no solution as of right now. Extremely unsafe to drive and do not feel safe with my daughter in the car with the car jerking forward and being delayed with the gas and rpms increasing.

I waiting a few minutes and the vehicle started up and I drove home. I am reluctant to drive the vehicle.

Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Randomly, and without warning, the instruments, gauges, and displays will switch into a language I do not speak or understand (Italian). Coinciding with the switch to Italian language, cluster and radio display settings revert back to default settings, auto door locks and paddle shifter becomes inoperative (with no menu to enable), pedestrian emergency brake (peb) lamp or forward collision warning (fcw) lamp turns on with no way to disable, units of measurement including speed, temperature, etc. all change, and many other random settings change as well. ***This is clearly a dangerous situation because of all the functions and gauges that change, and the fact it is difficult if not impossible to recover from this due to the language of the setting menus, and the complexity of discovering and navigating through all these changes. I have taken it to the dealer twice, and they say there is nothing they can do and to wait for a possible software update, but none has come and it has been over a year. When this happens, even if one is able to wade through all the settings menus and change setting back, some items cannot be reset (like the FCA off lamp). According to various Jeep owner forums, some dealers have been able to reset something and temporarily correct the issue, but they charge for this service, and the issue returns randomly again. Here is an example forum discussion, indicating many if not all vehicles are affected: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE While driving the vehicle, several warning lights activated, the first being automatic emergency braking is disabled. The second warning light advised me to not turn the car off until I got to my destination. It further advised that I would not be able to shift gears. The vehicle began to slow down on its own until it came to a complete stop. I was in the middle of an intersection when this happened. The dashboard was displaying a message saying press brake and push button to start car. Nothing happened when I did that. I could not shift gears or get the vehicle to move at all. Even though, I was getting the message to push the button to start the vehicle, I believe the vehicle was actually on. I was stuck near the intersection for one hour with a tow truck on the way when I was finally able to turn the e vehicle off. Jul 2025 POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM While driving in Hybrid mode, the Jeep threw itself into park. I was at the middle of an intersection. I have brought this into Chrysler, Jeep, Doge of Paulding (Georgia) and they have reached out to the engineers at Chrysler. The service department is telling me that Chrysler is telling them there is no fix to this. I put in a ticket with Chrysler as well and they confirmed this. Jul 2025 STEERING,SUSPENSION I bought this Jeep new in 2023 and it started making this noise when it had 7000 miles on it. If was normal operational noise, why didn't it have it when it was new? Many owners on Jeep forums (JeepGarage, WLJeepForum, JeepForum, WranglerForum) report: Rattle starts light and worsens with heat soak. The company often states it is a “normal operational noise. ”Some report replacement of the entire sway bar disconnect actuator assembly under warranty resolving the noise temporarily or permanently but there is no standardized procedure. After an hour drive, the loud banging noise is huge distraction while driving. I have driven for many years and have never heard anything such as this rattle trap, especially for upward of $80,000, while fearing that it may leave the road at anytime. Jul 2025 POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Within days after completing the 95b recall (24v-720) on my Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV , the vehicle would periodically flash an error message saying ”service hybrid system” or something to that effect. It would illuminate for just a few seconds. On May 21, I took the vehicle back to the dealership (Brigham-Gill, Natick, MA). They read several codes and after conferring with Jeep, said the vehicle is unsafe to drive. It has remained there parked in their backlot as of July 15. The dealership is awaiting guidance from Jeep and informed me they have several others in the same situation. So there were few issues here 1) if I hadn’t returned to the dealership to ask about these brief flashing messages, I would not have known that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. These messages never stayed illuminated for more than a few seconds, and there is no residual “check engine” light. 2) it is incorrect to say that the 95B recall addressed the issue of the failing batteries if it renders the vehicle in operable. 3) the 95B recall patch software was released in January 2025. I find it hard to believe that as of mid July they’ve been unable to find out why it doesn’t work in all the vehicles as intended. This leads me to question the thoroughness of the regression testing before it was released.

Jul 2025 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE The red wrench light keeps coming on, Hybrid system needs repair. It looses power for a short period of time, every time has been on the freeway. It makes a hugh crunch noise(transmission) and slams into gear. It is available for inspection, currently at dealership, it has been there for last week. This problem has been persistent, its been in many times for this issue. Chrysler told me they do not have a fix. It is all over the chat forums. We do not feel safe driving this car because it looses power temporarily and on the freeway. Many others are having problems with it stopping from a loss of power. It has been inspected by the dealership and in for repairs many times. This vehicle has been in the dealership on a regular basis since it was new. It has always had a power train issue, clunky and loss of power. Now it is worse and they don't have a repair. It has also had engine lights coming on and off. Had issue with having to put it in park turn off and turn back on to get it in gear. The loss of power on the freeway is the persistent issue right now. These cars need pulled off the roads until they are fixed!
