Jul 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The first incident was on 5/27/24 when I was traveling about 45 mph. The check engine light came on and the car started to shimmy and shake when I pressed the gas. Error code came up on the screen for P0304, injector #4 was bad. Had the vehicle towed to the closest dealer for warranty repair and was told this is a known issue but no recall has been placed. Then on 7/16/24, same thing happened while traveling out of town. Hyundai app was down so couldn't get an error code. Again had the vehicle towed to a dealer and this code was P0302, #2 injector was bad. Obviously there is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Need to know if this is a permanent fix or if the other 2 will go out soon. I attached a photo of this report and can also get a copy of the one from May as needed.

Jul 2024 ENGINE I was merging on the highway when the car bucked and the check engine light came on. I couldn’t drive over 20 mph without the car shaking. I pulled over and had the car towed. The issue was a faulty fuel injector. It was replaced under warranty. I am worried reading online about this problem happening again. My family has owned 4 Hyundais and I’m starting to loose faith in their reliability. This really needs to be recalled.

Jul 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM A faulty fuel injector caused my Tuscon to lose all acceleration while I was in the passing lane of a 4-lane highway going 75mpg. A check engine light came on and it just bricked itself. I had to glide through 3 lanes almost causing a wreck. We were on a family vacation with our [XXX] daughter in the back seat and we had to wait over 2 hours in the blazing heat for a tow. The dealership said there is a known problem with the fuel injectors in these SUVs. I can't believe there isn't yet a recall for these fuel injectors. I'm concerned someone is going to get hurt because of this very fixable problem. Thanks for the help. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

May 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I was coming back from the mall on the highway doing 50mph and my truck started losing power which it has done before but this time the emergency brake came on and my truck stopped in the middle of the highway on a Saturday. Thank God no one was following me close because that would have caused a bad accident. And also sometimes after I stop at a light or stop sign my brakes harden and I can’t press them down if that makes since and all my needles move back and fourth while the engine is making a noise but the car is still in drive but will not move. I have to hit the button to turn the car off and restart it and this has happened to me 3 times already. This is very frustrating and scary

Apr 2024 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE We fist noticed a problem with the car having a hard time accelerating and a hard shift at 25-35 mph back at the end of November. We then got a check engine light that came on that said P013A00 Powertrain. We brought it to the dealership the first week of December and were told that the transmission just needed an update. Upon taking the car home it was better for about a week then the issue came back sporadically. Then on March 20th my wife was driving the car and it would not accelerate past 35 mph while getting onto the interstate. Cars were going by her at 70+MPH as she sat there helplessly pressing the accelerator. Eventually she got the car up to 50 mph but it would not go any faster. We brought it into the dealership that day and once again they said the transmission needed an update. I then contacted Hyundai corporate and submitted a complaint and they started a case for the issue. After the second time at the dealership the car was ok for a week and then started with the same issues. After taking it to several other dealerships they all tell me that it’s a transmission issue that they don’t know how to fix but they change what they say once Hyundai corporate talks with them. Presently the car will have very high RPM and jump forward almost colliding with cars in front. It will also not accelerate such as the peddle is on the floor and the RPMs are high but the car will barely move until it shifts gears and jumps forward.

Apr 2024 ENGINE I was driving on the highway when the engine would not accelerate. I was stuck in a high speed lane and drivers were on my rear bumper. I could not move over and felt helpless. I pulled off at the next exit and the vehicle was sputtering. I made it home at reduced speed. The vehicle would not start the next morning. I had it towed to the nearest dealership. I was contacted days later and informed that the is a bulletin about power loss due to faulty fuel injectors. Many complaint sites are full of the same problems. I now feel unsafe driving the vehicle on trips. I don't want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere. I am a female senior citizen.

Apr 2024 ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM NHTSA Complaint On Sunday, March 10th 2024 our 2022 Hyundai Tucson with 2.5L engine started missing in one of the cylinders. It did not disable the vehicle and it ran like that for several blocks until we could pullover to safety. At this time there were no warning lights of any kind. It wasn’t until I turned the car off, checked the oil (which was good), started the car again and did a lap around the parking lot that the check engine light came on. So there were no warnings. We dropped the car off at our local Hyundai service center that night so it could be checked first thing the next day. It turned out that it was a bad spark plug and injector. At that point it was no big deal. We chalked it up to a fluke. We received the car back on Thursday, March 14th with the explanation of what happened and that it was replaced under warranty. There were NO RECOMMENDATIONS made upon pick up. Exactly 2 weeks later on Thursday, March 28th, the car lost all power while traveling 60mph in the middle lane of the interstate. Again, there were no warning or diagnostic lights coming on. It was pure luck that there was minimal traffic and other drivers were paying attention as the car came to a complete stop in the middle of the highway in order to be restarted and it refused to accelerate above 20mph in order to limp to the shoulder and get to safety. Over an hour later and stopping and starting the car in a parking lot, the check engine light finally came on. The engine was running worse this time. The car had to be towed this time to the service center. After being checked out it was another spark plug and a fouled fuel injector. Researching online showed that this is a very common issue with Hyundai fuel injectors between 12,000 and 25,000 miles. There are currently no technical service bulletins or recalls warning owners of this common failure and potentially losing power traveling at high speeds. Research showed there have been 3 collisions caused by this exact issue to date.

Mar 2024 POWER TRAIN Transmission wouldn’t shift. Tried to accelerate from stopping at a stop sign and car wouldnt get up to speeds. Car shuttered when it tried to. The auto shut off light turned orange. No codes or check engine light came on. Shut car off and turned on and problem went away. Nobody has inspected it as it has not reproduced the problem. Several online forums state that I am not the only one to have this issue. Luckily this didnt happen on the highway otherwise that would have been very dangerous trying to merge on a highway.

Mar 2024 POWER TRAIN,EXTERIOR LIGHTING,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM First incident: While driving on the highway, my vehicle began to vibrate intensely, jerking, lost acceleration and ultimately was unable to drive. Smelled burning. No warning lights came on- no indication of a problem. I only had time to exit on ramp and car stopped in the middle of traffic. Car had to be towed to dealer. Second incident: I was driving and the vehicle began jerking and vibrating with no acceleration. Smelled burning again. Only after this happened did the engine light appear. I was able to get over to the side of the road. Luckily I wasn’t far from home. Car had to be towed to dealer again Very unsafe and no recall from Hyundai.

Feb 2024 POWER TRAIN,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM New 2022 tucson limited power train stalled, would not accelerate randomly while on the highway in NJ on [XXX]. Had to get to side of the road and put hazards on as was unable to accelerate past 40mph in a 65mph zone. Once turning off the car, the electrical systems reset. It was crazy i only had the car for 200miles. Thank God it was a leased car. Flash forward it occurred twice before hitting 1k miles. Took it to get serviced and service department had no idea and said nothing was found to be the cause after the second time it stalled. Other incident was around 20k miles gas lock latch broke somehow and couldn't open gas tank to put gas in car. Went to 3 dealerships, 2 couldn't see me without an appointment. Had to get it snapped off then come back to get car serviced which took 2 additional hrs. Unreliable. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jan 2024 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE This is the third time I had issues with my 2022 Hyundai Tucson losing power, being unable to accelerate, and/or completely losing power and stopping. I already created an NHSTA report/complaint when the first incident occurred 11 months ago (NHTSA ID Number: 11507213). Since then, the issue occurred twice (has 33,000 miles & always maintained). I am a professional female in [XXX] . The 2nd time was at night [XXX]; I was on my way to a program for work, car decelerated. I could navigate, with great distress and frustration to a side street where the car shut off completely. I contacted my husband, my supervisor (who delayed the program start for a few minutes, then began without me), Hyundai Blue Link and AAA. My supervisor sent someone to pick me up so I could be present at the program and make my presentation. A colleague returned me to my failed vehicle. I called AAA for an update on the tow, which I was told would not be for another several hours after midnight. My colleague drove me home (16.5 miles one way: my husband was even further away) as I would have again been alone in my vehicle at night (without heat). This third time (Jan 2024), I used the climate start for at least 12 minutes before driving. The car never gained acceleration above 19 mph, occurring immediately. I thought it was just a cold engine that would dissipate as I drove, but it didn't. Since I could not get the engine to accelerate, I could not get heat. It was as though the engine was draining all the functions of the vehicle. There were no cars in front of me, but several drivers behind me were very angry; amazingly, no accident occurred. Finally drove to dealer, called Uber, and was late to work again! Purchased my Tucson after engine issues with my Hyundai Sante Fe. Both purchased new with many extended warranties, assuming I'd have a safe and reliable vehicle. Car still at dealer (10 days).
