| Aug 2023 | STRUCTURE | The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that on two separate occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds; the splash shield would rip without impact. The contact stated that there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle due to the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer after the initial failure and had the part replaced out of pocket. After the second failure, the manufacturer was notified, and a case was filed to have the manufacturer cover the cost of the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 12,000 |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN | There was a transmission recall that was addressed back in early 2023 by the dealership that presented as a 1st gear stutter within a month of purchasing the car back in May 2022. At the time I was told if the reprogramming didn't work, the transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle was driven very little but I was told it would need a couple of weeks of regular driving to ensure the fix took. If it didn't I was advised to bring the car in immediately. The car stayed in the garage and didn't get driven until July when it was taken on a 100+mile trip when I realized that the first gear was starting to jerk upon shifting. I finally called Hyundai about possibly trading it in and eventually on Aug 21, 2023 called the service dept to give them a heads up I'm going to bring it in. However was told I would have to now rebook the appointment and got one for Dec 22, 2023. I mentioned that this was under the recall issue but was informed that they would have to do diagnosis to confirm that. In the meantime they didn't offer any other recourse or priority to have this addressed. I can't afford to pay for another vehicle out of pocket in the meantime. Also, now it's showing that recall issue as repaired even though that may have not happened as of now. I'm concerned that something bad might happen in the meantime and I don't seem to have any other options. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Loss of power while accelerating. Engine overheat notification. High oil temperature. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE | While I was driving the vehicle late last year (2022) I pulled out of the parking lot of my office and my vehicle did not accelerate even though I was pressing the gas pedal. I pulled over, turned off the car, restarted the car, and everything was normal again. This morning (8/15/23) as my wife was driving my son to school, the car did the same thing and the vehicle did not accelerate even though the gas pedal was pressed and the RPM's were registering but there was no drive power. She had to pull over and restart the car as well. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | WHEELS | I have had DTC codes since November 2022 for the TPMS system. I took the car to the dealership in Ocala, FL. The removed the codes and less than 10 minutes of driving they came back. I scheduled another appointment in Gainesville, FL they also were unable to resolve the issue. I contacted Hyundai and the case manager attempted to contact the Gainesville, FL dealership. They did not respond, the solution given is schedule another appointment myself... | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The car will not lock, the signal lights do not function, I cannot open gas door, cannot unlock trunk. I took the care to the service center and they just told me it was the junction box. I saw there was a major recall to this same car for this same problem with 2016. If this is a manufacture issue I think it should be covered by warranty but they are refusing to fix without me filing an insurance claim. My car has been inoperable since June. The hazard lights are on and I cannot operate the vehicle safely without repair of the junction box per service center at Hyundai of Greenville Sc | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2023 | LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST | I first noticed an issue with the voice resignation which also is effecting the messages navigation phone and just recently the lane assist and radar. For 2 weeks I have tried to address this with Hyundai customer service with no proper response the dealer service I stating the computer head is at fault but they have no idea when they will get one from Hyundai. I know the service people will be keeping the car for week to resolve this since the whole dashboard will be removed. I was told a representative from hyundi will be contacting me on the 5th wich I doubt will happen because when I had a problem in April 2023 I was told the same thing I had the phone nearby all day and no one ever called and I am assuming the same will happen on the 5th. This is not a dealer or service dept issue it's a hyundi problem and I am reluctant to use any of the assisted driving or rely on the safety components that this car is individually installed with. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Apr 2023 | POWER TRAIN | I was driving down the street and I hit a car because I felt that I lost the control of the car momentarily and it happened as it is described on this recall - 22V746000: The vehicle's "fail-safe" limited-mobility drive mode may be impaired, when prompted by a transmission oil pump malfunction, which can result in a complete loss of drive power. As a result the car crashed into another vehicle. Have the car since 24th of March. Have been feeling at times that I fight to be the driver with the car. Spoke to friends about the issue and they were concerned about that too. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |

| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN | When driving on a highway and wanting to pass a car in front of me at around 70 mph, I depress the accelerate pedal, and the car suddenly lost the power and decrease the speed. I quickly floored the pedal, but nothing happened, nor did the tachometer revs up. Have to pull over on the shoulder and shift from Drive to Park, and from Park to Drive again, the problem solved. There were no warning light or error messages showed during the whole process. Almost got rear ended by the car behind me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My 2022 hyundai sonata sel completely shuts down while driving, most recently it happened twice in the middle of an intersection when I was trying to make a left turn it is very very scary and dangerous. I purchased the vehicle in July 2022 and since then it has had consistent idling issues meaning if it's parked too long it will just turn off but now it is turning into while I'm actually driving at the engine dies and again recently it's been in the middle of intersections which is very scary. My check engine light came on it only 4000 miles on new car - very concerning. I encourage anyone having intermittent engine stalling in any way to make sure we are reporting this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | POWER TRAIN | 2022 HYUNDAI SONATA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HYUNDAI FOR A RECALL BUT PARTS ARE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER WITH NO ETA ON WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Our 2022 Hyundai Sonata completely shuts down while driving. We purchased the vehicle in May 2022 and since then it has died over 10 times and has almost caused multiple accidents. We have 3 video footage that we have shown Hyundai corporate and the dealership service technicians. They drive the vehicle a few miles and give it back unable to duplicate it. Hyundai refuses to buyback the vehicle due to safety concerns. We do not know what more we can do and have been working on this since August. We no longer drive this vehicle as it is too dangerous and will eventually cause an accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Dec 2022 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Sonata. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V746000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

The failure recurred and the vehicle shut down and was towed back to the same dealer. The contact was informed that the mechanic could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and was returned to the contact. The failure recurred; however, the contact had not returned the vehicle to the dealer yet. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 2,000 |
| Dec 2022 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Shifter system malfunction service immediately was displayed on my dash 10+ times which caused me to not be able to shift my car out of drive or whatever gear I was in when this occurred. I was at an intersection and when I was coming to a stop the car displayed this error code and wouldn’t allow me to go until I turned the car off and on twice till it was able to reset back to park then allowing me to start and shift to drive to actually go. This jeopardizes my safety and the safety of others considering my car could give out or not change gears at any given point. This is extremely concerning. The problem has not been reproduced by the dealership but has been in 2 times for this issue within a month. I took pictures and showed it to the dealership and they said Hyundai won’t cover it. They felt bad and believed me so much to the point their service department is covering the cost of the Transmission shifter module (TCM) in hopes this will resolve the issue. Only a Hyundai dealership has worked on my vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,SERVICE BRAKES | Car did not stop in time to avoid a front collision with a stopped car on a highway. | Crash: Yes Fire: No Injuries: 4 Towed | Unknown |
| Nov 2022 | POWER TRAIN | Car sometimes does not accelerate appropriately. Car needs to be shut off and restarted when this happens. Dealerships around me say they don’t see anything wrong with the car. It happens randomly and shouldn’t happen with a brand new car. I feel unsafe when it doesn’t accelerate correctly. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
