Sep 2023 VISIBILITY The plastic window switch has peeled, creating essentially a very sharp edge that has cut me and caused bleeding and pain. It is available for inspection and I have pictures. This is a problem known to Ford. The vehicle was dropped of at a Ford dealership, Crossley Ford Liberty, MO. The problem identified, but not covered under warranty.

Sep 2023 VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL The failed component is the cruise control. It is available for inspection. Unknowingly, the speed increased by 10 miles an hour, without touching any buttons or controls on the steering wheel. With cruise control on, the driver might be not as engaged with the automobile, as if there was no cruise control. I will have the issue brought before my Ford dealer on Monday, September 25, 2023. There were no warning, lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the cruise control increasing speed. It only increase speed by 10 miles an hour. However, it occurred at 55 miles an hour, and 70 miles an hour. The issue occurred on a drive from Des Moines Iowa to Evansville Indiana on Monday, September 18. Driving conditions were perfect, no rain dry payment. This incident occurred four times during the 9 hour drive.

Sep 2023 SUSPENSION AT MY 10,000 MILE SERVICE, ON JUNE 08, 2023, I WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR SHOCKS WERE LEAKING. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT WERE ON BACK ORDER DUE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF SHOCKS THAT HAVE FAILED ON THIS MODEL VEHICLE. IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER 12, 2023 AND THE SHOCKS ARE STILL ON BACK ORDER AND I NOW HAVE 14,500 MI ON THE VEHICLE. OVER 3 MONTHS AND ADDITIONAL 4,500 MILES ON DEFECTIVE SHOCKS THAT ARE STILL ON BACK ORDER SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME.

Sep 2023 POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE While merging on to the freeway, while trying to achieve freeway speed, the Explorer lost all power for about 10 seconds. During that time, multiple error messages appeared on my dashboard. The messages included "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available" and "See Manual". Several Error message were sent to my FordPass app. The messages include: 1."Service Engine Soon Warning - The powertrain control system speed sensors have detected the transmission did not achieve the gear expected and may be slipping internally..." 2."Service Engine Soon Warning - The powertrain control system has detected an internal PCM communication error. The PCM will invoked failure mode effects management (FMEM) operating strategy that maintains limited vehicle function..." 3."Pre- Collision Assist Not Available - The collision warning system has detected either a fault or an obstructed radar sensor". 4. "Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power - Illuminates when the system has detected a powertrain or a four-wheel drive fault. I was almost rear ended because I could not achieve freeway speed while merging onto the freeway. The vehicle has been at the dealership for 3 days. I am still waiting to find out what the diagnosis is.

Jul 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Car has recall for rear end bolt that breaks, took car in to have repair made. Came home with a software update that sets the park brake when you put car in park, and then when start the car and put into gear you press the accelerator or press the button, the car will lunge forward or reverse when you press accelerator, not safe at all! From what I have read the NHSTA approved this (fix) instead of fixing the sub frame and more bolts like it should be, instead of a auto parking brake that sets every time. I do feel this is a extreme safety issue and should be addressed immediately! Shame on you and Ford, an auto park brake is not a solution, only a poor band-aid !

Jul 2023 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2022 Ford Explorer. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated while receiving an oil change at the local dealer, the dealer stated that the valve body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the same failure. The contact took the vehicle to back the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission to be replaced. Jul 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER The power lift gate was making a popping noise, so I took the truck to Ford for repair. They supposedly repaired the truck, but the power lift gate started opening and closing on its own and at random times. It also started to rain through the back glass, which caused mild in the truck. The warning states that the power loft gate should be completely closed or it can result in death, but it wasn’t able to close at all times. Ours safety was out at risk due to the power lift gate opening and closing at random times, which could have caused me to be hit, other drivers to be injured, and theft of property from other people having access while the power lift gate didn’t properly close. The problem was confirmed by a dealer. I showed video as well. The manufacturer has inspected the vehicle component, but they broke a panel on the driver door and tried to glue it on, so the manufacturer is dishonest. They also advised that I have a “bad car” but refuse to do anything. No it was no warnings.

Jul 2023 POWER TRAIN,BACK OVER PREVENTION When going from Drive to Reverse, the car will delay for 30 seconds to a minute and display a white vehicle screen. It will be inoperable during this delay time, which can be dangerous given the situation and I have almost been hit twice because of this delay. I am uncomfortable driving the vehicle, as not being able to put the car immediately into reverse in any given situation is dangerous for both myself, my children and anyone else on the road. The vehicle has been into the dealership, they said no issue exist. However, after picking up the vehicle the concern still exist and now I am stuck with a vehicle that I cannot drive. No warning messages are being displayed, this is one reason why the dealership is saying there is no issue.

Jul 2023 POWER TRAIN While attempting to reverse the vehicle has a delay, or rolls forward, and then vehicle will hard shift into gear quite roughly. the vehicle was taken to the dealership in 02/23 for repair where it spent 2 weeks at a mileage of 5650. the dealership did what they would fix the issue. Well in June 2023 the issue started happening again, and now slips while driving. For as much as i paid for this car, this should not be happening. It is a serious safety hazard that could result in an accident or someone being hurt. My vehicle should not have to go back into the shop again, and Ford needs to resolve these issues, or provide replacement transportation given the amount of time the dealer has to have for repairs. This is my only vehicle. They should replace the transmission, and see if it resolves the issue. This is a know issue, and it needs fixed asap.

Jul 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The AC has been blowing hot air. I took it to Ford motor service department and they said there was a Freon leak and a hole in the condenser. I had several other mechanics look at it and they said that it is fully charge with Freon, is no leak and the compressor is turning fine. Today it was 108 inside my car with all the windows down driving from work. It is suffocating driving it like that Ford charge me $170 to diagnose it and refused to cover it under warranty. The other mechanics that looked at it do not agree with Ford’s diagnostics and felt that it was an electrical problem that was not allowing communication to properly. Turn the AC on to blow cold air. My vehicle has been in the service department for other times for electrical issues. I also reached out to Ford to see if there was a lemon law regarding my 2022 Explorer. They told me because my car was over 24,000 miles I would not qualify my only option at this point is to trade in the vehicle, which they are giving me $14,000 less on because of the electrical issues at Ford . I’m a registered nurse, working full-time and a single mom with a daughter that is going through chemotherapy right now. I really expected the dealership to be more honest and their service department about what is actually going on with a car and actually try to help us. Instead, I believe they’re being dishonest and not assuming what is really wrong with the vehicle. I’m hoping that you guys will help consumers like myself by informing us to make better decisions when purchasing a new vehicle. Thank you in advance for everything that you do.

Jun 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION I was backing up at low speed (less than 1 mph) to park by gently letting my foot off the brake to back. I was using the rear backup camera to gauge how far I could go back without striking the vehicle behind me. The screen showed video that I was still several feet away from the vehicle behind me when I felt a sudden bump. I stepped on the brake hard to ensure I was no longer moving but the camera still showed several feet between my rear bumper and the vehicle behind me. I put the vehicle in park and got out to verify that I had struck the vehicle behind me. I had. I returned to the driver’s seat, put the vehicle back in reverse to see what the camera showed and now it appeared on the screen that my bumper was touching the vehicle behind me. The video on the screen had absolutely froze while I was backing, which contributed to me making an error in judgement while backing, causing me to strike the vehicle behind me. The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office (Illinois) completed a crash report. SOPC23-08519

Jun 2023 POWER TRAIN 2022 Ford Explorer bought brand new from dealership, began noticing lagging in vehicle when going from DRIVE to REVERSE. Car will stall between drive and reverse in the neutral position for a period of time longer than normal (up to 10 seconds). This occurs on a regular basis, multiple times while blocking a road or parking lot while attempting to back into a parking spot, at which time vehicle appears to be in neutral and will roll forward or backward if not holding the brake which could cause the vehicle to hit buildings, people, other cars, etc. Only one warning light came on at one time stating “Transmission Fault stuck in park” and vehicle would not move or go into another gear. Vehicle taken to a ford dealer at which time they stated they did see the fault, did an update on the computer system which seemed to stop it and if it persisted the shifter would need replaced. Within only 1-2 days after leaving the dealership the car began to regularly and recurrently have the same fault of delaying from drive to reverse. This issue does not seem to occur when going from Park to reverse. This appears to be a persistent complaint from owners specifically of 2022 Ford Explorers.

Jun 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER 1. My 2022 Explorer limited purchased mid Dec 2022 began having issues during shifting of gears and would stutter before jolting or would drive in the opposite direction when shifting btwn gears starting in Feb 2023. Ford would not give me an appt until may. In March I put the car in reverse in front of my child's daycare, it drove forward, hit a large vase and damaged the front end. Ford was contacted and again told me the earliest they could get me an appt was may. I recorded all events from there forward. In May my car was inspected and numerous error codes were found. One of which was a "gear shift lock solenoid/actuator circuit 'A' range/performance". They ultimately fixed the faulty shifter. But refuse to repair the front end damage to the vehicle caused by the malfunctioning shifter stating "I should have braked". There was a list of error codes they told me have been addressed but on the final invoice it also states one has not. But they have refused to provide me with a list of interpretation for the errors codes. 2. This faulty gear shift could have resulted in severe injury to myself or a bystander. When I contacted ford after the accident they continued to disregard my safety concerns and would not provide me w an early appointment to investigate these serious problems 3. See answer 1 4. No. The car functioned normally from purchase date in mid December to mid-late Feb when symptoms began without warning and occurred intermittently until the car was assessed the first week of May
