| Nov 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the vehicle started bucking while changing gear. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the coolant level was low, and the safety system had engaged. There was no coolant leak found. After taking possession of the vehicle, the heat became inoperable. The contact noticed that the coolant level was low. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was determined that the failure was possibly related to the EGR cooler. There was no indication of a leak. The part was on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 102,000 |
| Nov 2025 | ENGINE | Car was sputtering and didn’t idle right, engine light came on and took it to Nissan dealership-they replaced egr valve gasket, exhaust gas recirculating, air filter and did 2 recalls. Then 2 days later the car didn’t want to start and had clouds of white smoke coming out of exhaust. Took back to dealership today and was told I need a new motor-coolant was leaking into cylinder 4. My car only has 127,000 miles on it. Now I can’t drive it and have to come up with $6231.00 for a used motor with 30k miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Nov 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | When closing the back window of my Nissan Rogue it shattered | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Since October of 2024, I've been having recurring leaks coming through the front right passenger's side at the top corner of the windshield, where the seam in the fabric meets. I have had multiple appointments at Nissan dealerships, where I've been told "your drains are clogged," "it's how it was manufactured," "we'll add some sealant," etc. and the problem has progressively gotten worse and worse, spreading to other areas of my roof, staining my interior, and causing mold and mildew issues. I wonder if it's not a sunroof problem, but a roof rack problem. There was a recall on a batch of 2021 Nissan Rogues in 2021 for this issue, but my car's manufacturing date unfortunately did not fall under that recall. Nissan will not check to see if that's the issue since my car is not technically under recall. I've found a huge community of people online who have had the same problems with their Nissan Rogues, and have unfortunately either had to sell their cars back to the dealership, or are living with mold and mildew in their cars because it's a problem that Nissan has not been willing to fix. I'm asking that this problem is looked into further on behalf of myself and other 2021 Nissan Rogue owners whose particular manufacturing dates did not fall under the recall for the leaking roof racks (attached) and are continuing to have water leak into their cars. My whole sunroof, besides the glass, was replaced in June of 2025, and the problem worsened (photos attached). My car is now back in the shop at a different dealership, with the hopes that they can help me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | WHEELS | I was backing out of a parking garage and I had the steering wheel turned while I was reversing so I could exit the lot. I heard a pop and put the car in drive to move forward and the car would not move. Once I put the car in park and exited the vehicle I could see that the left tire was no longer attached to the steering column and that the tire rod had snapped dislodging the front left tire from the system. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I continue to get a check engine light on my car that reads code P0101. The very first time it happened I took it to a mechanic they read the diagnostic code and advised I would need to replace the Mass Airflow sensor. I purchase the part from a Nissan dealership and it was replaced by a mechanic approximately January 2025. The light would continue to come on sporadically. I took it back and was told that engine air filter was dirty. It was replaced the code was cleared and driving fine. 10 months later the same light and code are appearing on my car. It’s been taken to a mechanic whom after checking wiring and other components again believes it’s the mass air flow sensor. This part is not cheap but continues to cause a problem even when replaced with genuine parts. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | STRUCTURE:BODY | I noticed that my car was often unlocked after I knew for a fact that I locked it. I also had a problem with the right passenger door not unlocking even when the unlock button was pushed. I would often have to physically unlock that door on its own. After this happened for about a month, the car now opens even if I have locked it, with some of the doors causing the alarm to sound, even the door easily opened. I am concerned about safety especially when going out late at night or leaving my car parked in public lots. The problem was confirmed by the dealer when I went in for service. They inspected it and told me the door lock actuators on the back doors are bad. After looking this up, I see that there is a class action suit pending for this issue. There were no warnings prior to this happening. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | ENGINE | I have 2021 Nissan to and my suv is drinking a lot of coolant. I have a cracked head gasket where the car has never over heated. It’s coolant mixed with my oil and sometimes it has trouble cranking. When it does crank a bunch of white smoke comes from the exhaust pipe. I haven’t even had the car 2 years and it’s a blown head gasket in the engine. Dealer says I need a new engine | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | STRUCTURE:BODY | During a recent trip I noticed a "fluttering/rattling" noise coming from the top of the windshield of our 2021 Nissan Rogue Platinum. The noise was very noticeable at interstate highway speed and on rougher road surfaces. While looking for the source of noise I found staining on the driver side headliner and interior front pillar garnish. Took Rogue to dealer and was told that the seal for the attachment clips for the roof rack were leaking into the interior. Leakage had damaged headliner and gotten into the airbag. The roof racks would have to be removed and sealed and the entire headliner, front pillar garnish, and the airbag replaced. The total repair would cost approximately $4,000.00. Since the Rogue was 45 months old with 20,500 miles it was out of warranty due to its age. The dealer told me that I would be responsible for the cost to repair it since it was out of warranty. I contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs to see if they would cover the cost since the leak was caused by a design and/or manufacturing defect. Nissan agreed to pay 90% of the repair but I would be responsible for the remaining 10% (approximately $400.00). I told them this was unacceptable and that Nissan should be responsible for the entire cost of the repair. Nissan has refused my requests to cover the full cost of repair. An internet search revealed that Nissan was aware of the defect and had issued a Service Bulletin (NTB21-097, dated 10/20/21), which was a few months before we purchased the vehicle. Since the leak can allow water to damage the airbag it is a serious safety issue. The airbag may not deploy properly during an accident or could suddenly deploy for no reason and cause a crash. Nissan should take full responsibility and pay the full amount for the repair since it is a known design and/or manufacturing defect. Nissan should issue a recall for affected vehicles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | My auctuators door locks have failed numerous times. The passenger rear was replaced when the vehicle was still under warranty. In the last 6 months the front drivers side, and passenger side has failed. Nissan does not have a recall on these and should! My car only has 32,000 miles on it. There obviously is an issue that needs to be addressed with a recall. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2025 | ENGINE | This is a follow up on my email originally sent to Nissan North America, Inc. & forwarded to The US NHTSA. I had purchased a used 2021 Nissan Rogue SV Car bearing the VIN as [XXX] from a local used car dealer in Garland TX USA. The car ran well in the last 2 years except for 1 time repair issue on the Radiator & now the Engine. On [XXX], my car started giving me trouble on the excessive consumption of the Coolant & it got exceptionally overheated while driving. Regular Timely Service has been done on the car. More recently, the car's engine got locked a few times & did not start upon my attempting to start the car. I took the car to Christian Brothers Automotive in Bedford, TX where they diagnosed that the vehicle struggles to start & runs rough. Vehicle smells like it is burning coolant badly, pulled out oil dipstick & found coolant mixed with oil, Blown head gasket and recommended a new engine. Driving at that time was not recommended due to the overheating issues. I took the car to Nissan of Lewisville/Lewisville Nissan & requested them to check the car thoroughly. Initially, I requested a basic 60K Service package which included a Radiator Coolant Flush & other necessary services provided by Nissan North America/Nissan Motor Corporation. Nissan of Lewisville/Lewisville Nissan refused to repair the car claiming expired warranty and demanded $10000.00 from me besides their repeated threats for charging storage fees & towing charges. I invoked 15 years Manufacturer's Implied Warrant retrospectively based on 4 USDC Court Orders ordering the Automobile Manufacturers to provide 15 years Implied Warrant on the cars manufactured by them. The Nissan North America, Inc./Nissan of Lewisville are in contempt of the said Court Orders. Close All Operations of Nissan Company. Order repair the car, provide 15 years Warranty Coverage. I will take 84 cars + $8950,000000.00 in out of court settlement against Nissan North America, Inc., et al. Arrest all involved. Shifter delayed when shifting into PARK, NEUTRAL, REVERSE, or DRIVE and shifter assembly indicator lights are out. Reference NTB21-069A. This is a known issue. A corrupted Shifter Assembly has caused this vehicle to display multiple warnings such as CVT warnings , shifter position warnings, front and rear crash sensors unavailable, and a multitude of other electrical system warnings. Communications with Nissan consumer affairs and Nissan service departments both of which state the vehicle is out of warranty and repairs for this known issue will be charged to customer despite evidence this is a manufacturing defect known to exist within this year make and model. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL | I had purchased a brand new 2021 Nissan Rouge SV AWD in 2021. I am now at 46,000 miles and I have had all system lights on and off since purchase. The first started with back hatch around 20 miles, went to go get it taken care of and it disappeared. I have broke down with electrical issues twice now, with error code of 'Warning Malfunction', 'forward collision warning', 'air bag', 'forward collision light' and 'check engine" on dash. On Sunday August 10 2025, I was driving on the highway at 70 MPH, and my vehicle slammed on the brakes automatically with kids in the car. Looking at the dashboard showed forward collision light, with no cars near me. I then went 35 MPH to get off nearest exit. I made it home safely with minor issues to kids neck from the brake issue. Yesterday on August 13 2025 I went to my local supermarket to get milk, and the car wouldn't start after I went shopping and showed a different error of 'Malfunction'. In the winter time the light of forward collision comes on, and I have no control over my vehicle at all. I then assumed I needed better tires and purchased them, however it made no difference. This SUV is very dangerous, and I am terrified to even drive it. The airbag light has now been on also, and in addition to yesterday's break down, the engine light is also on. I have an appointment again for my Nissan dealer now on Tuesday August 19 2025, and hoping this will be resolved. At 46,000 miles this should not be an issue, let alone danger my family. I also have videos, that won't allow upload here. Please help me. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | STEERING | When driving and going to turn the steering wheel locked up and vehicle stayed turning right. Had to force steering wheel back. After getting steering unlock it did it again when I was at stop sign. Also could hear noise is steering column. Steering wheel locked with no warning lamps or messages. Took vehicle to Nissan dealership. Dealership said it didn't lock up for them but they could hear the noise. Dealership took steering column apart and replaced steering column clock spring. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES | Driver side rear door lock electrical actuator will not lock or unlock the door. Door has to be manually unlocked. In the event of an emergency, it will delay the egress of a passenger in the rear seat. The issue would make it near impossible to unlock the door in an emergency especially if it were submerged in water. This is a safety issue and has occurred on a number of these Nissan vehicles. The vehicle is available for inspection if requested. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
