| Apr 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | We received a letter back in Dec 2021 about a recall for our windshield that Hyundai was aware of but there was no fix available. It states that if in a crash it could be real bad because the adhesive on the windshield. However i don't think it should take almost 5 months for a serious recall like this. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Mar 2022 | AIR BAGS | I turned on a highway and had gotten my car up to 45 mph when a deer came out of nowhere and I slammed into it hard back on January 12th. The car only suffered cosmetic damage thankfully, but the air bags did not deploy. I have since then found out that the front air bag crash sensors are in a spot where they are practically useless unless you hit something pretty high up and destroy the headlights in the process. In my opinion, this is a serious safety issue, and when I contacted Hyundai about it, all they told me was to go to the dealership for inspection. I have pictures showing that the crash sensors are located at and not where they should be, and if you open the hood, the wiring for the sensors is right in your face. I still have high anxiety knowing that if I get into another accident, they may not deploy due to their location. At least the car is still drivable and no structural damage or alignment issues are there. As you can see in the pictures the sensors are close to where the hood closes at the top support bar. | Crash: Yes Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | VISIBILITY/WIPER | Recall on my vehicle states there is still no remedy after one month. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I have had my 2021 Hyundai Sonata LES for less than a year and am already having problems with the front windshield. There is “air nose” coming through the windshield when I drive above 55 MPH. There has been recalls for this problem on some 2020-2021 Hyundai vehicles. The 2021 Sonata is one of them. However, when I look up to see if there is any recalls with my VIN number, it shows no recalls. I know my windshield is defective or wasn’t properly installed. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jan 2022 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Hello The car shut off on the freeway while driving. The display lit up light a Xmas tree including the forward collision warning. I though this was an isolated incident. It has happened now numerous times. The car even braked on its own then shut off while turning in the middle of a busy intersection. There are several reports of very similar symptoms on Edmonds under reviews. This car is dangerous. I have contacted Hyundai twice now. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Oct 2021 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | On August 23rd, 2021, I was on a business trip between High Point, NC and Greenville, SC. I was operating my own vehicle as the mode of transport. Upon arrival in Greenville, the car began behaving strangely. The transmission was not shifting at typical intervals, at times racing the engine at low speeds. After restarting the vehicle, there was a brief return to normal. Then the vehicle reported a "Check Engine" light and the transmission stopped functioning entirely. Due to capacity issues, I was unable to utilize a local dealership. I used AAA to tow the vehicle to Fort Mill Hyundai in Fort Mill, SC, where it remains to this day. The vehicle threw a P0868 code, which is supposedly a generic error relating to an electrical problem in the transmission. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Oct 2021 | AIR BAGS,SEATS | WE LEASE A 2021 SONATA SEL EQUIPPED WITH AIR BAG SYSTEM FEATURING AN OCS IN THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT. THE PURPOSE OF THE OCS IS TO DISABLE RIGHT PASSENGER SEAT FRONT AIR BAG WHEN IT DETECTS TA CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM OR SMALL CHILD IN THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT. RIGHT FRONT AIR BAG IS DISABLED TO PREVENT INJURIES TO A CHILD FROM A RIGHT FRONT AIR BAG INFLATION DURING A CRASH. MY WIFE IS ABOUT 4'10" TALL AND WEIGHS 135#. WHEN SEATED IN PASSENGER SEAT, SHE REQUIRES A CUSHION TO RAISE HER SO SHE CAN SEE OVER DASHBOARD AND OUT SIDE WINDOW. OUR SONATA IS EQUIPPED WITH MANUAL PASSENGER SEAT THAT IS RAISED TO HIGHEST POSITION. PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN SHE USES CUSHION, THE OCS LIGHT STAYS ON INDICATING THAT AIR BAGS ARE DEACTIVATED AND WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT WHICH COULD CAUSE AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD TO MY WIFE. WE TOOK CAR TO DEALER SERVICE CENTER TWICE, AND WE CALLED HYUNDAI USA CUSTOMER SERVICE - BOTH SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE. SMALL ADULTS LIKE MY WIFE SHOULD BE ABLE TO BYPASS THE OCS USING A SHUNT OR BYPASS SWITCH. WE FEED THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. EARLIER SONATA MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

During the incident, no injuries were reported, and no police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable the duplicate the failure.
