Feb 2024 SERVICE BRAKES When driving home two weeks ago, I got a message on my screen saying, "A Brake system malfunction was detected. Carefully find a safe place to park, and call dealer". I took it to an ASE certified mechanic, and he says it's a brake booster going bad. This car is my personal vehicle, and at this date has 33,152 miles on it. The mechanic and I cannot find any recalls for my 2020 Rav4 . The mechanic said it's still drivable, and what I should look for when it goes completely out, however I'm afraid to go far as to not knowing when it will go. This is definitely a safety risk, for myself and others on the road.

Feb 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM * Coolant Bypass Valve * This problem costs $800 to fix at the Toyota Dealership. *My car is a 2020 Rav4 with only 32k miles on it. * After reading thousands of complaints on websites from other 2020 Rav4 owners with the exact same problem, I think there should be a recall as this can be a dangerous issue if the engine overheats. I am shocked that nothing has been done about this yet. *The only warning was a routine maintence light that comes on every 5,000 miles.

Feb 2024 EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Vehicle was taken in for a oil change. At check-in I was told that I would be given a rental vehicle due to the overhead rails recall, leaking inside the vehicles at that time I advised of a gas smell which I have been smelling for several years and it was getting stronger. I was told that there was something wrong with the fuel pump and it would need to be replaced and they would also be replacing rails from the top of my vehicle because there was water leaks inside my car, I advised that water has been leaking in my car for several years and clips were already placedbout two years ago. Several days later I received a phone call that my vehicle was ready to pick up when I got there i was informed that the fuel pump assembly was replaced and intake. Manifest gasket , throttle gasket , fuel pump gasket replaced EGR valve replaced EGR inlet gasket replaced EGR valve. ad gasket replaced EGR cooler gasket replaced. On 2/10 I was driving and a warning flashed on my car and spoke to me it said that there was a malfunction detected in the engine, transmission or throttle of the vehicle and I need to contact Toyota. Feb 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The following is an issue involving my 2020 RAV4 Toyota battery manufacturing defects that ended the life of my RAV4 battery. The mentioned event occurred on [XXX], and a report was created and recorded by a Toyota representative on [XXX], via (800) 331-4331 phone call, with the reference report number [XXX]. The nature of the issue was that my 2020 RAV4 battery parts came loose from the inside, and the metals were rubbing with each other, causing the smoke and the battery to overheat, ending its life due to the mentioned manufacturing defects. Based on the dangerous, alarming issue of overheating and dense heavy smoke from the battery, I left it at the dealer for service to prevent any toxic fumes, fire, or explosion. I told the dealer adviser that those manufacturing defects are a serious safety concern that should be reported in the public’s best interest to avoid any possible tragedies. I noticed when I picked up my car from the dealer that the battery manufacture defect was not recorded in the paperwork I had received; the manager and the advisor didn’t show any sense of urgency to the matter, so I filed a report to Toyota Motor North America Headquarters, Plano Texas. Report number: [XXX] The dashboard panel never displayed any safety hazard warnings or any symbols indicating the conditions of the smoke and battery overheating were jeopardizing my life and my family aboard while I drove with them. I paid $ 552.55 for the battery and a diagnostic service; management did not want to acknowledge that a manufacturing defect ended the battery life. Customers should not be responsible for replacement costs when the event is caused by manufacturing imperfection “even though the warranty is over.” The dealer advisor and management know that these manufacturing battery defects happen. Still, nobody ever informed me to be mindful of the dangerous state of faulty battery defects when I purchased my 2020 RAV4. Feb 2024 STRUCTURE Tailgate hinge assembly failed/failing. It is available for inspection upon request. Failed hinge has placed the tailgate out of alignment. This prevents the tailgate to close properly, allowing for weather penetration, as well as preventing full closure of tailgate. This safety concern can potentially allow the tailgate to fall off the vehicle during travel, placing myself and others at risk of severe injury. The problem has not been confirmed/reproduced by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by any other representatives. There were no warning lamps, or any other symptoms prior to failure. This problem first occurred at 0625am, FEB09_2024. Tailgate opened with no issues. Tailgate failed to close on its own, due to misalignment.

Dec 2023 ENGINE Coolant bypass valve failed vehicle warning lights came on for this 2020 Toyota Rav4 at 31,641 miles. This is absolutely available for inspection on request. Safety as this can potentially cause overheating, coolant leaking, a cracked cylinder. The manufacturer (Local Toyota dealership - "Ed Morse Delray Toyota" inspected and suggested replacement of the coolant bypass valve for this 2020 toyota rav4 for a price around 800$. the technician say they see a load of these newer model Rav4's needing new coolant bypass valves. I opted not to immediately replace the valve due to it being a vehicle model-wide issue that should likely be a recall. These appeared the day before I brought it in to the dealer so withing 5-10 miles of the 31,641 miles for this 2020 Toyota Rav4. Warning just says "error please take in to dealership for service".

Dec 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 2020 RAV4 hybrid. Vehicle doesn't start; requires a jump, which is inconvenient or unsafe, depending on where it happens. Intermittent occurrence, ~ 3 times/year. Toyota checked 12V battery, pronounced OK, of course the car was driven to the shop for the check, so was operating at the time. I've checked the battery when the car wouldn't start and found it to be a little low (11.5V) but by no means fully discharged. Not associated with leaving components on (we are careful to turn everything off) or weather; the vehicle is garaged in the winter. I turned off the "Bluetooth" system which we never used and haven't had this issue over the past year. Suspect that the "Bluetooth" system was operating even when the vehicle was off?

Nov 2023 ENGINE My coolant bypass valve in the engine malfunctioned and shorted at a mere 27,300 miles on the vehicle and I had to bring it into the dealership to be replaced. A coolant bypass valve failing or malfunctioning can cause the engine to overheat, catch fire, or cause complete seizure. Can also cause the vehicle to stall and possibly cause a crash or wreck. Toyota has acknowledged the problem in the RAV4’s but no recalls have been issued. Dealer knew exactly what the problem was when I mentioned that the ‘engine maintenance required’ light came up on my dashboard BEFORE mechanic diagnosed it and confirmed which tells me they are aware of the issue in these cars.

Nov 2023 ENGINE In September 12,2023 I took my 2020 Toyota Rava 4 vehicle in to Cobb Toyota for a coolant by pass valve to be replaced after my check engine light kept coming on. I only had 25 790 miles on my vehicle at the time. Anthony Sullivan was my service rep. at the time And he stated that this something has been common with this type of vehicle. But could not explain why. I just wanted to report this to Toyota. They need to know about this. And I need to be reimbursed for $99.30 for what I paid for this repair under warranty. Thank you,
