| Aug 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My car went completely dead while stopped in traffic on a busy street. My kids were in the car and thankfully I was able to crank it by pressing the start button. This issue has already been “fixed” and the dealership “cannot replicate” | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The forward-facing camera and/or radar unit failed one morning while running errands, resulting in 5 separate ADAS system failures. With these safety features not working, our safety and the safety of others is at risk. We took it to our dealer and were told we would have to pay a diagnostic fee of $205, even though they clearly already knew what the problem was- based on the multiple complaints through NHTSA and various other forums and websites from Odyssey and other Honda model owners and across multiple years. The problem was confirmed by the dealer and they quoted us $2025 and we're still not sure if that includes just the camera and/or the radar unit, which is another $600 part. Other dealers have quoted only $1200 to fix the exact same thing, with others charging more than double that. The 5 separate warning messages scroll across our screen repeatedly and are very distracting as you're driving. With multiple electrical issues already in recall status by Honda, this is another one that they should be taking responsibility for and not dumping this defective electrical repair on their customers. Who's to say that we won't be in this exact same predicament 3 or 5 years from now if the part or parts aren't fixed! Definitely expect more from Honda... very disappointed and feel betrayed by the inferior parts they're passing on as quality products. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | AIR BAGS | While driving at approximately 12 mph on slightly snowy roads, my vehicle slipped and made a light impact with the sidewalk curb. Despite the minor nature of the collision, the entire left-side curtain airbag and seat airbag deployed with full force, as if a severe accident had occurred. This deployment was unexpected and excessive given the low-speed impact. I have found multiple online reports of similar incidents involving premature or overly sensitive airbag deployment in Honda vehicles, which raises concerns about a potential safety defect. Concern: I believe this may indicate a flaw in the airbag deployment system or sensor calibration. This poses a safety risk and could result in unnecessary injuries or repair costs | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | For the past couple of weeks, every time I drive the car, I get a number of error messages regarding problems with the advanced driver assistance features. These include: "Adaptive Cruise Control Problem", "Collision Mitigation System Problem", Lane Keeping Assist Problem", "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem", and "Auto High-Beam Problem". A diagnostic check showed error U3000-49, namely "Control Module Internal Electronic Failure". I took it to a shop, they ran diagnostics and told me I needed to replace the multifunction camera in the windshield. It seems to be a common problem and is very expensive to fix, at more than $2000. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Several months ago my wife was driving when the automatic brake system engaged when a car was turning in front of her. This engagement startled her and she felt the emergency braking was unnecessary considering the speed and distance the car was in front of her. This incident concerned her and made her lose confidence in the safety of the car. Then just recently we began encountering a almost consistent but sometimes intermittent brake System Error along with multiple trouble notices about problems with Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane Keep Assist System, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, etc.. when using the car. We received an error code U3000-49 reporting an Internal electronic failure in the multipurpose camera unit. Online searches of this issue seem to be very common and concerning on how many are occurring considering this is a safety system. Our van has approximately 54,000 miles on it. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | ENGINE | Engine recently began making noise and the car was taken into Honda. The dealer checked engine components to find the cause and recommended that we remove oil pan to inspect the issue because they assumed it might be engine bearing related. Before we could schedule the service I was driving with my family on the highway when we heard a loud noise and complete loss of power. I was able to move over avoiding other cars to reach the shoulder and come to a stop. The car would not start or go into any gear. Car was towed to shop. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The car has not been inspected yet. Currently at shop being evaluated. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Engine was making noise at the dealership when it went for service. There was no concern made by dealer stating car was unsafe to drive. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Was inspected before the car broke down, but currently being evaluated by local shop. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There was an unknown noise coming from the engine, and dealer stated they needed to remove oil pan to diagnose the noise but stated it could be bearing related. The dealership did not say the car was unsafe or should not be driven. Before we could look into the issue more the car broke down on the highway. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | All Honda Sensing technology is not working and brake system indicator is on. ACC, LKAS, Collision mitigation, auto high beam, road departure. I read online that a lot of Honda Odyssey owners are experiencing same problem. It could be the front camera sensor.I have always had electrical problems with car. There crackling sounds when the radio or music is playing on the stereos. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | STRUCTURE | The rear hatch will randomly close after it is opened. The hatch will not stop closing if someone is standing under it. Several times now it has closed while someone is getting something out of the back and you can not make it stop without quickly getting out of the way and pressing the button. Both, myself and my wife have been hit pretty hard on the head by the hatch closing on us. This is a HUGE safety concern as I have children that could easily be harmed by the sheer power of this hatch. I have had the issue inspected by an independent shop and was informed that it would need both new power struts at a cost of over $1,200! The van is only 5 years old with 75,000 miles! There are no warning lights, messages or problems prior to the failure. | Crash: No Fire: No Injuries: 1 | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | The front camera is malfunctioning, affecting all of my safety sensors. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE | While driving, all at once several messages displayed, all of which are related to forward facing camera. Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Auto High Beam disabled along with the BRAKE SYSTEM light turning on When I researched the internet, there are alot a people report this problem with the HONDA forward facing camera witch supports the systems listed this failures. Talking to friends and neighbors they have had the same issues, it is about a $2000 fix to replace and recalibrate the camera link to user forum [XXX] Most of the reported issues including mine are related to heat, the camera is in an enclosure located at the top center of the windshield. We just had heat indexes above 100 degrees. The camera is always hot to the touch. I also had this issue in the past put happened whole under warranty. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING | The auto idle start/stop feature failed to recognize a bad battery and shut the car off while I was stopped in the left turn lane. The vehicle failed to start and lost all power, including hazard lights and brake lights. I had no way of indicating to other drivers behind me that the vehicle was disabled other than getting out of the vehicle and waving them around me. This happened while I was taking my son to school and could have resulted in us getting in an accident or causing another accident. Honda was not able to identify root cause and replaced the battery. I do not trust this vehicle as reliable or safe any longer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The multipurpose camera in the vehicle failed, causing multiple warning lights to come on related to the collision warning, blind spot warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and others. The dealership said it needed to be replaced, as it was no longer working and none of these features would work without replacement | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The multipurpose camera that sits behind the windshield has completely failed, deactivating many automated safety features. The dealer quoted $2700.00 to replace. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE | High pressure Fuel pump makes Loud noice. Fuel line vibrates. Check engine light on, Shows error code Low fuel pressue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | STEERING,SUSPENSION | I have been getting front end clunking noise since I bought vehicle. Honda is not able to identify and resolve issue after taking to multiple dealers. And after 5 years and 45k miles white paint started flaking in different penal of car | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE,BACK OVER PREVENTION | The ADAS front windshield camera failed on our 2020 Honda Odyssey. This vehicle is too new to have a failure like this and this is a very common issue that I have seen across all Honda Odysseys of same generation. Honda needs to be held accountable. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The current 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey recall also is applicable to 2020 models. The Infotainment system frequently is popping or crackling from the speakers or no sound from the audio system, display issues, and shuts off completely. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | Lift gate sags. Lift gate sporadically closes without any activation. It does sound warning prior to closing. Lift gate has come down on person causing bruises more than a few times. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE | The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey equipped with a Cabin Watch camera. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Lane Keeping Assist and the Cabin Watch camera became inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that even though the Cabin Watch had become inoperable, the Cabin Watch plastic case was constantly burning hot. An independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the Cabin Watch camera needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 102,000 |
| Jul 2025 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | My Honda Odyssey, after a hot summer day showed error codes related to the front camera. The Adaptive cruise control problem (ACC), Auto high-beam (A); Road departure mitigation system, collision/braking mitigation system; lane keeping assist problem (LKAS) now are non-functional. Various internet users complain of the same issues without a conclusive source for the problem. It is either related to battery voltage or front-camera failure (possible due to heat/sun exposure). The 2020 vehicle was purchased used from dealer in 2024 where the battery was stated to have been replaced/new. Further, my vehicle has the infotainment package (TV/DVD) which has also previously drawn down the battery even after the car was shut off (i.e., the electronics and/air conditioning are drawing too much battery and causing low voltages that impact the camera-based sensors). Multiple internet users complain of parasitic battery draw, fuses, poor oem batteries, and faulty behaviors with the camera system. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE | Honda has been serviced at Honda of Ames #190 since 2022. 2023 - Issues with the engine stalling when it goes into idle mode at a stop. September 2023 – contacted Honda of Ames, IA dealer. They indicated it’s the battery which will need replaced. Took the car to Interstate Battery on 9/26/2023 where it tested at 12.5 volts out of possible 12.6 volts. Then took the car to dealer who insisted it was an issue with the battery. Replaced battery for $391. Problem continued. In 2024 there was a recall re: a known issue with the engine idle functionality requiring a software update. Took the vehicle in for the software update. Complained to the dealer that I unnecessarily spent $390 on new battery when that wasn’t the issue. They refused to refund any money. Problem persisted. On 5/21/2025 the car was brought into dealership for 100k service. I complained again that the auto-idle feature still stalling. Was told that it's not a universal known problem, they don’t have a fix that he’s aware of other than to check the battery. I explained we’ve been through this before and brought up Sept 2023 battery situation. He stated that the quick/handheld battery testers are not reliable; repair shops have “the big testers in the back” that are more reliable – that is what they will test my battery on. I asked if they could turn off the feature permanently and was told no. When car was ready I was told that the battery life tested fine. They did a software upgrade and I will need to drive it and just see if the stall issue continues. He repeated that it’s not a “universal known problem” and there was nothing further he could do. 7/5/2025 – the auto-idle has stalled twice since the service on 5/21/2025. Stalling in an intersection, at a red light, bottom of an off-ramp, etc.i s a serious and highly concerning safety issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | My Vehicle was at the dealer for service in March of 2025. At that time they performed RECALL 23-008 although the vehicle did not have issues with the idle stop system. Since some time in June, at multiple occasions, the vehicle shifted to Park on its own when restarting from idle stop. Last night, the vehicle fully shut off and lost all electrical power when restarting from idle stop leaving me stranded in the dark at a busy intersection without the ability to turn on my hazard lights. The vehicle repowered after a few minutes. When the system restarted, the info-tainment system activated the anti theft software which happens during full power loss. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | The power tailgate control module has been failing. That makes power tailgate problem light come on, than the tailgate beeps and eventually fails. It unlatches itself, and won't latch until the control module has been replaced. My control module has been replaced 3 times, and now a week later after being replaced my tailgate has failed again, the power tailgate problem light is on and tailgate won't open. I was told by Honda dealership that theres a water leak that's causing it. Along with replacing the unit they are trying to seal it but it's still failing. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2025 | LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Took it to certified Honda garage to solve another issue and now there is an issue with the Front facing camera system. - adaptive cruise control - lane keeping assistant - collision mitigation system - road departure mitigation system - auto high beam system | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
