Feb 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER A latch inside the driver door of the car broke and my husband was unable to exit the vehicle. There was no reason for this part to break, no collision or rough use of the door. We just drove from our home to our destination without incident and the door would not open when we arrived. The dealership had to replace the broken part.

Feb 2024 AIR BAGS In 2020 I was driving in Sequoia national forest and hit a small pothole/erosion hole in front of a gate at approximately 2-3mph. I slightly bottomed out the car. The airbags deployed. Mild abrasion friction burns on my wrist. My wife's airbags in the passenger seat also deployed, but since we had zero forward momentum they didn't even contact her. I was told by Honda that this is my fault and that their airbag system only deployes when it should, and ultimately just filled an insurance claim. I was extremely ignorant of how not road safe my car was, and drive it home. The car was towed for repairs. I just recently learned about this complain line, so I'm submitting now in early 2024.

Feb 2024 AIR BAGS My 2020 Honda Odyssey started showing SRS problem error on its 4th year of ownership. Since it’s not under warranty after 3 years I spent close to 1k to replace SRS computer module by dealership from where I purchased my car. Same error came back a month later and again I took it to dealer and they said it has loose connection on cable and fix the loose connection. About a month later SRS light came back again and then I took it to dealer and he said connection is good but one of the connector is not sending the signal to SRS module. They asked me to replace entire SRS module wiring which will be around 4k which might resolve this problem. I reported this problem to Honda Corporate and waiting for their response. Since it is SRS problem, I am more concern to drive the my car with Kids. If I meet an accident and airbag won’t deploy then it will be risk for me and my family.

Jan 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The heads up unit, navigation and audio system completely shut down after Network connection lost message. This started happening after recall of a cable, before it was fine, same cable was replaced under warranty a year ago. The problem is reproducible, simply driving vehicle and hitting a bump on passenger/right side cases the system to malfunction, disconnect audio, and eventually whole system shutdown and restart. I will take this back to the dealership but electronics in Honda Odyssey has been unreliable and feels like a safety risk.

Jan 2024 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Car stuttered and completely stopped running on the road. Cops had to come and direct traffic around me while my car had stopped. Towed the car to the dealership and the fuel pump was identified as the problem. Car has 63000 miles on it.

Jan 2024 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE  I have a concerning noise from my car's engine that I’ve already brought in for diagnosis. Knocking/ticking/rattling noise on stand-still acceleration at relatively low speeds/under light load. Does not duplicate when revving in park, only under light load. Sound present with HVAC on or off. Does not make noise when cold or after long trips. Honda seems to be aware of this issue and has remedied it through work involving the crankshaft bearings and possibly other components as it relates to their service bulletin 23-097. The problem is that my vehicle falls outside of the stated range of production years as mine is a 2020 model year, but the likelihood seems quite high that the engine in my vehicle is suffering from this exact problem. The service department refuses to help me and the corporate line I've contacted through email me simply refers me to the service department. I just spent $38,000 on this vehicle with 30,000 miles and I have no other recourse at this point to remedy this.

I took my 2020 honda odyssey my local dealership but no help. Many vans from Honda, years 2018-2021 are having this very same issue. Please help Me resolved this matter. Dec 2023 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The car stalled when stopped at a red traffic light. This happened on 2 occasions, 11-3-23 and 12-9-23. The second time other cars behind us had to go around us while we tried to restart the car which put them at risk of being hit by cars in the other lanes. There was no warning. I took the car in for regular maintenance a few days ago during which the dealership did a multi point inspection but did not discuss this issue. Yesterday I heard about the fuel pump recall and think this might be the same issue. I called the dealership today but they said our car is not under the recall. Our car is available for inspection upon request.

Nov 2023 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Idle stop caused engine to stall 3 separate times leaving me stranded in busy intersections making it difficult to restart vehicle and move safely out of the way. Initial start up checks come on, asked to put car in park, step on brake to restart car, car won’t restart. Once happened at night and shut off all my lights for 30 seconds making me not visible for cars coming up to me.

Nov 2023 ENGINE While stopped in preparation to make a left turn across traffic on a 4 lane road, our 2020 Honda Odyssey engine stalled- the engine idle stop function did not restart the engine as designed. We had to restart our car, but the car did not immediately restart, it took us 2-3 attempts. There was no prior warning or indication there was a problem. We could have easily been hit by another car, injuring my wife and children. Our system is available for inspection, we have not had it inspected yet.

Nov 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The entire ADAS system has begun loosing sensing capabilities for a time period but start working again later. It comes and goes regularly at this point. This inconsistency could cause and accident. There are system problem warning lights on the dash when the system is down. The car is too new for this issue. The dealer reports that the front camera is the issue but I would think it has more to do with the wiring possibly shorting out.

Nov 2023 POWER TRAIN Driving in traffic, switched lanes into a turn lane and came to a stop. The van put itself in park and wouldn't do anything for 5 minutes...the van kept running. It couldn't be shifted out of park, it couldn't be turned off. After approximately 5 minutes was able to put it back in drive and drive away.

Nov 2023 ENGINE My vehicle has the engine idle option and shuts the engine off when idle in traffic or at traffic lights, etc. There have been incidents where the engine doesn't just shut off but it powers off the entire car and doesn't want to turn back on. My battery is fine because i just had service done on it and they tested the battery and its 100% fine. This issue is not a battery issue for my car. I literally had PTSD when the car shut off though because it happened at a location on the roadway where i had previously been rear ended in another vehicle and after my car shut off this time - my anxiety was very high that day and i was literally shaking. I was scared not knowing what was wrong with my car.

Nov 2023 VISIBILITY/WIPER I had a Recall on my 2020 Honda Odyssey Vin # [XXX] for NHTSA Recall # 23V-431. The recall was for rear camera failure. The Fix was to replace MOST cable harness. In Early October 2023 my rear view camera did fail and no longer conformed to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No 111, “Rear Visibility” I took my Honda Odyssey to Serra Brighton Honda for repair , Serra Brighton Honda replaced the cable and it did not fix the problem. I was told it was the camera which was not part of the recall and was charged $302.42 for replacement of the camera, Invoice # [XXX]. It only seems logical to me that if “Rear Visibility” is a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard , the camera should have been included as part of the fix. It could have been possible that the cable shorted out and damaged the camera’s electronics. My Honda only has 21,500 miles and is always stored in a garage and has never been in an accident. Nov 2023 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE LKAS, Adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning all malfunctioned. Dealer inspected and determined it is an overheated camera that controls all the mentioned safety functions. This happened while driving on highway and has never worked again. I did confirm with the dealer this is the 3 instance they have seen of this in the past 3 months.

Oct 2023 POWER TRAIN My wife was driving our honda odyssey on a state highway and it began lurching and drastically reduced speed while in 65 mph traffic. The vehicle almost created a large accident as it uncontrollably and suddenly reduced gears and instantly slowed well below the rate of travel of the vehicles on the road. She managed to pull over on the side of the road but was unable to move the vehicle . There was never a check engine indicator or any other warning signs prior to this happening. The vehicle was towed to the local honda dealership in Scranton PA. Today the service center there stated that the transmission fluid was charred and burnt up gears in the transmission. This is a huge safety concern as there was no warning signs of the issue until the vehicle rapidly and suddenly shifted down gears and slowed to almost a complete stop along the highway. The vehicle is only 3 years old and is 900 miles over the powertrain warranty. Has there been a check engine light or any indicator we could have had the problem addressed before it became catastrophic and put my families lives in jeopardy. The vehicle has been regularly maintained

Oct 2023 VISIBILITY The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds during rainy weather, he attempted to defrost the windows; however, the HVAC failed to operate as designed with warm air coming from the HVAC system. As a result, the windows failed to defrost as needed, making it difficult to see the roadway. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the blower motor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 32,400.
