Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Jul 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER On July 4, my vehicle suddenly shut down. The dash lit up and then the engine just died. This happened twice that day. And again multiple times on July 9. The battery was replaced recently. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE All advanced driver safety features failed. It appears there is an issue with the front camera. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 AIR BAGS,SEATS 2020 Honda Odyssey EX-L, 49k miles, no prior collisions. 1. Faulty system: SRS airbag module, defective factory aluminum clip (official Honda recall defect). EDR data verified this component failure by dealer technicians. 2. Safety risk: Driver airbag spontaneously deployed at 41MPH with zero impact. Seven occupants suffered soft tissue injuries and PTSD; sudden deployment created severe risk of secondary crash. 3. Dealer confirmation: Bay Ridge Honda (Brooklyn NY) diagnosed and confirmed the airbag clip defect via EDR readout and physical teardown, filed service records for this issue. 4. Inspectors reviewed vehicle: Honda dealer techs, EDR forensic specialists, and GEICO adjuster all inspected the car and confirmed no pre-crash damage. 5. Pre-fault warnings: No SRS warning lights, error codes or abnormal electrical symptoms appeared before the airbag deployed unexpectedly. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE Font camera that control lane assist, cruise control, breaking, etc, stopped working less than 5 years old Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The monocular collision-avoidance camera 36160-THR-C01 has died on my 2020 Honda Odyssey EX-L. As a result, the following safety features have deactivated causing serious concerns for my safety on the road: ACC problem Collision Mitigation Problem Lake Keep Assist Problem Auto High Beam Problem The car is not even 6 years old and this $1000+ defective camera has rendered my car not up to safety standards. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I am the original owner of a 2020 Honda Odyssey Elite. On July 7, 2026, at approximately 76,127 miles, five safety-system warning messages suddenly appeared simultaneously upon startup: Adaptive Cruise Control Problem, Auto High Beam Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, Collision Mitigation System Problem, and Lane Keeping Assist System Problem. Restarting the vehicle several times did not clear the warnings. After the vehicle sat for approximately 30 minutes, the warnings disappeared. On July 8, after driving approximately 400 miles home, I parked the vehicle outside in approximately 110-degree heat. About two hours later, upon startup, the same five warnings reappeared simultaneously, along with the Brake System warning light. An authorized Honda dealer confirmed the multiple warnings and performed a DTC scan. Code U3000-49 was stored, indicating an internal failure of the multipurpose camera located behind the rearview mirror. Further testing confirmed that camera replacement was required. The dealer replaced and recalibrated the multipurpose camera at 76,567 miles. The repair cost was $1,631.80 for parts and $717.50 for labor, totaling $2,349.30. I am concerned that failure of a single internal camera component simultaneously disabled multiple driver-assistance and collision-avoidance safety systems. I believe NHTSA should investigate whether multipurpose camera failures associated with DTC U3000-49 represent a recurring safety defect in 2020 Honda Odyssey vehicles. Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE Multiple times the engine has totally shut down due to the auto idle stop system power loss. I have had the battery replaced a couple times and had the Honda dealership do the software update and I'm still having issues. This is a major safety issue as the car unexpectedly shuts down and takes a minute or so to get started again causing traffice backups.

Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The front-facing Honda Sensing camera in my 2020 Honda Odyssey overheated in a 90deg climate. This triggered multiple dashboard warning lights: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Problem, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Problem, Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) System Problem, Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Problem, BRAKE System Problem, and Auto High-Beam Problem. The Honda dealership quoted me $1850 to fix it and they said it was a well-known error. There were NO issues with my car prior to this problem. I keep up with all routine maintenance, oil changes, timing belt and water pump replacements, etc. Not only are these safety features inoperable, but these warning lights are very distracting to the driver, but worse than that- I would be unaware of other system failures since I have so many warnings displayed.
Incident: Jun 2026 , GA
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Front camera default and required replacement totaling $2,400.00 in repair costs. This is a safety issue as the Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Departure Warning were all disabled due to the front camera malfunction. This should be a recall by Honda as it seems to be a common mechanical failure in Honda Odysseys from 2018-2022.

Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE On 5/28/26, I went to get my van checked at a repair shop through my HealthCar warranty and I was told that I needed a system update on my brake system/ADAS/LKAS/ACC systems. All the lights beeped and were lighting up on my dash. It would go on and off from time to time, usually when it was more hot out. They told me to take to dealership and they need to do a system update and should fix no additional charge. I took it to the Honda dealership service department on 7/6/26 and was told it is the multipurpose camera has an internal failure and it would cost me $2,443.00 to repair it, plus I had to pay them a diagnostic fee. I have researched and been told by other repairs shops that this problem has been occurring often and it seems due to heat is the reason this happens.

Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE Driving on the road and heard static noise from the infotainment system after an update. Few minutes later the dashboard had multiple warnings and disabling the entire Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The Honda dealer inspected the front camera in the top of the windshield and said it needed to be replaced.

Jul 2026 LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The forward facing ADAS camera has been reporting U0104 error. This resulted in many advanced safety features failing, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warnings. The problem was confirmed and repaired by a independent service center. The problem first appeared on June of 2026

Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE The vehicle suddenly displayed warning signs for cruise control, lane assist, forward collision control and more on the dashboard. These features no longer work and warnings turn on every time we start the car and remain on the whole time.

Jul 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE,LANE DEPARTURE My van is suddenly giving me warnings that include collision mitigation, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, brake hold system, and traffic sign recognition. My safety is at risk if the front camera system is not working/faulty. I was unaware of the problem and had my cruise control on when it just went off and there were warnings popping up on dashboard. There was a class action lawsuit filed against Honda on 7/2/26 in CA for certain Honda vehicles. I have had my van put on a computer that has given us the error code and is a front camera failure. The issue first appeared on 7/2/26. It will suddenly start flashing warnings when I’m Driving. It will also flash warnings right after I start the vehicle.

Jun 2026 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE I purchased my 2020 Honda Odyssey Brand new in California. On 6/27/2026 upon starting the vehicle up in the morning there was a myriad of warning messages that came up on the cluster for the first time out of the blue. The battery was replaced a few months ago with a new one and no MIL lights were illuminated prior to this morning. Now an amber BRAKE SYSTEM tell tail symbol is illuminated on the cluster. 1: Adaptive C.C. problem 2: Auto high beam problem 3: Collision mitigation braking system problem 4: Lane Keep Assist problem 5: Road depature mitigation problem The vehicle still is able to run and drive, but none of these standard vehicle safety features are working as expected. I can't even apply cruise control now. On each key cycle the error messages come back up, and when driving they also stay in the center of the cluster and make annoying dinging sounds. I disconnected the battery ground cable from the chassis for 15 min and reconnected, but the errors come back on instantly once the van is started up. With my OBD scanner, there is a code being set U0104-00. I have not paid yet to have the van inspected formally by the dealer.

Jun 2026 SUSPENSION The rear coil spring (driver side) on my 2020 Honda Odyssey failed and broke while I was driving approximately 45 mph on a city street on XXX in [XXX]. The component that failed is the rear suspension coil spring. I do not have the broken spring in my possession, as it was replaced by the dealer. Due to the coil spring failure, the rear shock absorber on the driver side was also damaged and requires replacement. This sudden failure caused the rear of the vehicle to drop/sag on the driver side, which affected vehicle stability and handling. It put my safety and the safety of other road users at risk due to a loud noise and an abrupt change in ride height. This made the vehicle pull and feel unstable. I was able to maintain control and safely pull over, but the incident was alarming and could have led to loss of control or a crash under different conditions (e.g., higher speed or heavier traffic). A few days prior to the failure (approximately XXX), I noticed a weird/unusual sound from the rear of the vehicle. At the time, I did not associate it with a suspension issue, and there were no warning lamps, messages, or other clear symptoms. The problem has not been reproduced. The vehicle and component were inspected by a Honda dealer on XXX. The dealer confirmed that the driver-side rear coil spring had broken near the bottom and replaced it. They also noted that the rear shock absorber was damaged as a result and needs to be replaced. No other inspections (manufacturer representative, police, or insurance) have occurred at this time. This appears to be a sudden mechanical failure of the rear coil spring with no apparent external cause (e.g., no prior impact, accident, or road debris). Jun 2026 AIR BAGS,SEAT BELTS,STRUCTURE While traveling from Florida to our home in Pennsylvania in December 2022, we were on [XXX] and after going over a pothole, the side curtain airbag, and the driver seat side airbag inadvertently deployed. It was very traumatic and we are fortunate that we were able to pull off the side of the highway without getting hit by vehicles., The repair, which totaled over$16,000 was done by GERBER COLLISION AND GLASS Easton, PA. we personally are trying to recoup our out of pocket expenses of $781.08 from HONDA. And now, a month ago, May 2026,(almost 4 years after our incident) we received a SAFETY RECALL notification from explaining the exact issue we had.NHTSA Recall number26V227. we can provide photos and documentation, invoices, out of pocket expenses, etc if necessary but we have no idea how to include them on this form. Jun 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE The auto Start/Stop feature doesn't work as needed. It will randomly lurch, turn the car off make me put it in park and then have me restart it. Sometimes the car does not start right away and I am stuck on the road until it decided when and if it will restart. Myself and my family of 5 are not stuck in the road scared of getting smashed into by other drivers unaware that we are stopped or anticipating for us not to be stopped in the middle of the road. I really dont want my family to go to the hospital or die because of this nonsense. Sometimes it doesn't fully shut off but will give error warnings like collision mitigation assistance even though there is nothing for it to mitigate. There are no cars around me and it shouldn't have done this. This has been happening for some time and only happens haphazardly meaning I can't always have the dealer identify or diagnose the issue. Then when I brought it to the dealer, they told me it was because of a power liftgate module error. Which was not true and didn't solve the issue.

Jun 2026 ENGINE The contact owns a 2020 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while reversing at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

Jun 2026 UNKNOWN OR OTHER We took our vehicle in to Honda to repair the mirror recall and they were unable to repair it because they did not order the parts necessary to complete the work. All this despite us making an apt well in advance so they could be prepared. Upon picking up our vehicle, we were told “not to worry about it because if the mirrors haven’t fallen off by now, they probably won’t.”

Jun 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM I own a 2020 Honda Odyssey with approximately 73,000 miles that has experienced recurring infotainment and electrical system failures. The vehicle has undergone two prior repairs related to the Fakra connector issue, but the problem continues to occur. During the failure, the infotainment screen becomes inoperable, audio functions are affected, and the rearview backup camera becomes unavailable or unusable. The issue appears to be intermittent and is often triggered during or after rain. In addition to the infotainment failures, I have experienced key fob recognition issues requiring the key to be placed near the start button to start the vehicle. There is also static through the speakers, particularly when turning the steering wheel. The vehicle has been taken to a Honda dealership multiple times for this concern, and dealership personnel have witnessed the malfunction. Despite two previous repair attempts, the issue persists. Because the failure affects the operation of the rearview camera system, which is a critical safety feature, I am concerned about the safety of the vehicle and whether the prior repairs adequately addressed the underlying defect. I am submitting this complaint because numerous other Honda owners have reported similar recurring failures involving the infotainment system, Fakra connector repairs, backup camera operation, and related electrical concerns. I request that NHTSA investigate whether there is a broader defect affecting these vehicles and whether previous repair procedures are providing a permanent remedy. The dealer recently confirmed the fault was present and advised that additional diagnosis and consultation with Honda technical support would be required to determine the cause.

Jun 2026 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE Our vehicle has stalled at stop lights several times over the past 6 years. The auto stop/start feature seems to fail. The vehicle will shut off but when you repeat the brake it will not restart and the vehicle will die completely. You have to put it in park, wait a few seconds and try and restart. Additionally it has completely died at gas station after turning it off to refuel. When you go to start the vehicle it will be completely dead, zero power. We had to have it jump started. The battery has been replaced twice and was testing normal at the dealership. Not a battery issue. Honda acts like this is unheard of but our own research indicates it is a common well known problem with new Odyssey models.
