Date Component Summary Severity Mileage
Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM Malfunctioning fuel injectors causing misfires stem from a known issue with faulty fuel injectors; a problem widely reported across multiple Honda models equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged direct injection engine. Notably, the Honda CR-V (2019–2023), Civic (2019–2022), and Accord (2018–2022) have all been consistently linked to fuel injector failures. The most serious safety concern associated with this defect is the potential for sudden throttle changes, which can trigger the check engine light, cause the engine to lose drive power, hesitate, or even stall—all of which significantly increase the risk of a crash or injury.

Jul 2025 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue involving the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system on my Honda Accord 2020. The system has been engaging randomly and without cause, abruptly applying the brakes when there is no obstacle or hazard present. On multiple occasions, this malfunction has occurred while driving at normal speeds, including on highways and in moderate traffic. These sudden, unprovoked braking events have created extremely dangerous situations, nearly causing rear-end collisions and putting both myself and other drivers at risk. Despite there being no obstruction in front of the vehicle, the system behaves as though an emergency stop is necessary. This issue not only undermines the purpose of the safety feature but also significantly increases the risk of an accident due to unexpected deceleration. I urge Honda to thoroughly investigate this issue, as it appears to be a potentially widespread and dangerous defect. I am requesting that the company: •Address and correct the fault in my vehicle’s AEB system at no cost •Provide a clear explanation of the root cause •Inform me of any recalls or technical service bulletins (TSBs) related to this problem

Jul 2025 POWER TRAIN Driving on I70 mm152.2 my transmission went out and I was left quickly slowing on the interstate. I was in left line and cars were passing on the right. I needed to get over because I could not pull over to the left. Thought I might get stuck stopped on the interstate but was able to get over safely. Car only had 88000 miles on it and was less than 5 years old

Jul 2025 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,ENGINE Subject: Request for Recall Due to Persistent Dashboard Warnings and Engine Malfunction Dear [Manufacturer Honda] / NHTSA, I am writing to formally report a serious issue with my vehicle. All of the warning lights on the dashboard remain illuminated and do not turn off. Additionally, the vehicle occasionally becomes undriveable, unable to accelerate beyond 5 miles per hour. I was informed that the problem is related to the engine. I brought the car to a dealership for inspection, but they refused to repair the issue because the vehicle had just passed 40,000 miles. They stated that the warranty no longer covers the repair, despite the severity of the malfunction. After doing research and speaking with other vehicle owners, I have learned that this issue is not unique to my car. It appears to be a widespread problem affecting many vehicles of the same make and model across the United States. Given the safety risks and the number of affected vehicles, I kindly request that you investigate this matter thoroughly and consider issuing a recall. Owners should not be left responsible for costly repairs when the problem is clearly a recurring defect. Thank you for your time and attention.

Jul 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE During a forward-side lane departure collision in my 2020 Honda Accord, the Body Control Module (BCM), forward collision radar system, braking assist, and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSI) all failed to activate. As a result, the vehicle did not brake, warn, or stabilize before impact. The airbags also failed to deploy during the crash. My safety and the safety of others were put at serious risk, as the vehicle did not respond as designed despite being equipped with these systems. The car is now undrivable but available for inspection. This issue has not yet been confirmed by a dealer due to the car's condition, but similar failures have been reported in other 2020 Honda Accords already under recall. The insurance company did not request vehicle data and did not inspect the systems. There were no warning lamps, alerts, or messages prior to the failure; the malfunction occurred without notice. I am requesting that this vehicle be added to the existing recall list related to BCM and safety system failures.

Jun 2025 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE Vehicle will randomly slam on brakes to a dead stop, engaging my seatbelt when engine braking behind a vehicle. Usually happens on surface streets when the vehicle in front of me is turning into a driveway/tight right turn. My velocity is decreasing & I am not at risk of colliding with the vehicle every time. System does not seem to register engine braking with a manual transmission as “braking.” I’ve nearly been rear ended several times due to coming to a dead stop in traffic. I’ve asked Honda how to permanently disable the system, with the only advice to turn it off manually every single time I start the vehicle.

Jun 2025 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING Right front turn signal does not work also fm/am radio does not work as well as trunk release button on trunk itself. Had both head lights replaced thinking it was an LED issue with turn signal and was told by mechanic that BCM is the issue. Called Honda regarding the recall to the BCM and was told my car is not apart of said recall because it didn’t come from a certain region but seems to be all of Honda accords have this issue regardless of plant manufacturer

Jun 2025 AIR BAGS Received the following message "Supplemental Restraint System Problem. See Your Dealer" on my car dashboard. Brought to dealer and was told the issue was with the front passenger airbag cut on/off indicator. Was told this needed to be fixed or the airbag would not work. It was not covered by Honda as it was over 3 years and 36000 miles. Spoke to Honda and was informed I am not the only one with this problem but they would not cover it. Had to go out of pocket almost $500 on a malfunction that should be covered by a recall.

Jun 2025 ENGINE The turbo apparently went out without any warning as I was pulling onto the highway from work 5/22/25. I was almost creamed by the cars flying down the road. My vehicle is very well maintained , no issues ever until this. It upsets me rightly to find that this is not only been reported to you all, but there are people who are having to do class action lawsuit to try to get Honda to be held accountable at the very least since they refuse to recall this engine. There are thousands of people out here I have engine installing. Anytime an engine saws there is a danger whether I actually had an accident or made a report or not. And for the manufacturer to know that they have this issue and do nothing about it blows my mind. We can not allow car makers to put engines and cars that have known issues that lead to the lockdown and therefore stalling out of a brand new vehicle. Not everyone knows they need to come here and file a complaint. There are so many more people with this same issue. I don’t have an incident report because by the grace of God I was able to avoid the incident. How many people have to get hurt before we make Honda accept this critical engine damage is their responsibility to fix. That doesn’t even include the thousands of people who have spent their hard earned money to purchase a car. They’re supposed to be number one and safety only to have to deal with the engine installing. Is my hope that you would look further into any investigations you may already have people should not have to file lawsuits to get Honda to fix this. It is dangerous and it is not acceptable. On top of that it’s extremely pricey a big deal to force your customer to foot when they’ve done nothing wrong.

Jun 2025 AIR BAGS My 2020 Accord has had a recall on it for quite some time regarding the passenger side airbags. I have reached out to my dealership multiple times about this recall and I am told they do not have parts to fix it. They are on back order. I even reached out to a different dealership and has the same issue is pointless to recall if we can’t fix the problem. How can I get someone to fix this or find the components necessary to at least

May 2025 SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE The contact owns a 2020 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the brakes had erroneously activated, causing the vehicle the suddenly decelerate. During the failure, the "BRAKE" light was flashing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Action Number: EA24002 (FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the investigation. Additionally, after starting the vehicle and driving forward or in reverse, there was a squeaking sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure, and informed the contact that the failure was a common issue, but the manufacturer had not issued a service campaign to address the issue. The failure mileage was 30,000.

May 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE False alarms (several hundred) with audio and visual warnings but no braking. ONE instance of false alarm WITH emergency braking from 55mph to under 30mph. I do not recall a false warning happening after sundown, ever. Alarms have occurred on bright days with sharp shadows, and overcast with no shadows. There always seems to be a solid overhead object being approached, overpass, railway trestle, solid bar supporting a traffic light. This is highly intermittent where alarms occurred 3 in a week, to 1 in a span of two months. The two constants I have noted are it happens during daylight hours and a substantial overhead object or structure is being approached. Alarms have been occurring since 2021 when i bought the car new off the lot.

May 2025 FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE - Component/System failure/malfunction: ADAS. Specifically, CMBS and/or ACC. - My car has repeatedly experienced unexpected braking events, rapidly bringing me to nearly a complete stop in the highway. During this time, I have no ability to control the speed of my vehicle. This has been occurring during my ~70 mile commute on I-675, I-75, and I-275. - Despite having the car on multiple occasions and for over a week collectively, the issue has not been replicated by the dealer. - The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others to date. The Honda dealer has not initiated any further inspection. - During these failures, the car has (often) been braking without due reason or any alert to the driver. No system malfunction was found (either shown to driver or in computer log, as verified by dealer). Please review attached document for further details regarding the incident(s). This copy has been presented to Honda and the Ohio Attorney General.

May 2025 ENGINE Subject: Turbocharger Underboost – Safety Concern on 2020 Honda Accord EX-L I am reporting a serious safety issue with the turbocharger system on my 2020 Honda Accord EX-L with the 1.5L turbocharged engine. The vehicle has repeatedly triggered Diagnostic Trouble Code P0299 (Turbocharger Underboost), indicating the turbocharger is failing to generate sufficient boost. As a result, the vehicle suffers from sudden loss of power, especially during acceleration and highway merging. This power loss occurs without warning and severely impacts my ability to drive safely in traffic, increasing the risk of accidents. There are currently no recalls or manufacturer advisories addressing this issue, despite numerous online reports from other Honda owners with the same engine and problem. This suggests a possible design flaw or premature component failure in the turbocharging system. Given the frequency of this issue and its impact on vehicle safety, I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this matter and consider whether a recall or manufacturer service campaign is necessary. Symptoms include: •Sudden engine power loss •Error code P0299 •Inability to accelerate safely •Safety risk during lane changes and merges First occurrence: April 20, 2025 Ongoing issue: Yes Mileage at first occurrence: 111, 000 Crash or injury: No Thank you for your attention to this matter

May 2025 STRUCTURE Just like the 2018 Accord in Still Night Pearl (addressed in TSB 21-087), the paint has peeled and failed on the roof line by the rear glass. Called Honda, they don't care to address ANY vehicles with this KNOWN paint defect any longer. Now we have to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket to get it resolved or the steel will start to rust. Will NEVER purchase a Honda ever again.
