May 2019 VISIBILITY/WIPER I HAD PARKED TRY 2019 OUTBACK FOR WORK ON A PUBLIC STREET. WHEN I GOT IN AFTER WORK AND CLOSED MY DOOR, THE REAR GLASS SHATTERED AND ABOUT 1/4 OF IT FELL INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR. I INSPECTED THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR AND THE OUTSIDE AREA WHERE IT WAS PARKED, LOOKING FOR SOME SIGN THAT MAYBE SOMEONE HAD TRIED TO BREAK IN OR VANDALIZED IT. I FOUND NO SIGN. I THEN PUSHED MORE OF THE SHATTERED GLASS INSIDE MY CAR TO IMPROVE THE REAR VISIBILITY, AND DROVE TO A GLASS REPAIR STORE.

Apr 2019 VISIBILITY/WIPER 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK PURCHASED 2/20/19; TOOK POSSESSION 2/22/19. ON 4/14/19 TWO VERY LARGE (18-24IN)CRACKS, RAPIDLY SPREADING APPEARED AS I STARTED UP MY VEHICLE. ONE CRACK STARTED ABOUT 2 IN ABOVE THE LOWER CORNER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS BEFORE THIS CRACK APPEARED, A VERY SMALL PIECE OF GRAVEL STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD IN THIS AREA BUT NO DAMAGE/CRACKS/HOLES WERE VISIBLE ON CLOSE INSPECTION FOLLOWING THIS. THE SECOND CRACK ORIGINATED APPROX. MIDWAY BELOW THE WIPER APPARATUS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THERE HAD BEEN NO ROCKS HITTING IN THIS AREA PREVIOUSLY OR OTHER DAMAGE. AGAIN, BOTH CRACKS STARTED AFTER THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IMMOBILE OVERNIGHT IN MY GARAGE; THE TEMPERATURE THAT MORNING WAS IN THE HIGH 40S (48F) AND IMMEDIATELY OCCURRED ON STARTING THE VEHICLE AND SPREAD WITHIN SECONDS TO 18-24 INCHES ARCHING ACROSS THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD. SINCE, THE CRACKS HAVE CONTINUED TO SPREAD APPROX 1-3 INCHES PER DAY. IN CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DENY ANY ISSUES WITH SUBARU OUTBACK WINDSHIELDS. THIS IS UNLIKE ANY WINDSHIELD CRACKING EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD AND DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE DUE TO ROCK DAMAGE, OTHER EXTERNAL DAMAGE.

Apr 2019 UNKNOWN OR OTHER I WAS DRIVING FROM SACRAMENTO TO LONG BEACH - ABOUT 200 MILES INTO THE JOURNEY, AT ABOUT 6:10/6:15 ON A MILD EVENING (TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 75) MY SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED. THE ROAD CONDITION WERE FINE, THERE WAS NO DEBRIS IN THE ROAD THAT I COULD SEE OR WAS AWARE OF. I WAS TRAVELING WITH TRAFFIC AT ABOUT 75 MPH (SPEED LIMIT IS 70). THE SOUND WAS LIKE A SHOTGUN BLAST. IT WAS, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, ONE OF THE MOST FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCES I'VE HAD, PARTICULARLY IN A VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER AND SAW WHAT HAD OCCURRED. IT IS UNLIKELY THAT SOMETHING STRUCK THE SUNROOF - I HAD A THULE CARGO BOX ON THE VEHICLE AND NOTHING COULD HAVE STRUCK IT FROM ABOVE. IT WAS ALSO UNLIKELY FOR SOMETHING TO HAVE HIT THE WINDSHIELD FROM THE ROAD - IT WOULD HAVE HAD TO FIT IN THE SPACE BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE CARGO BOX AND I HEARD NOTHING BEFORE THE EXPLOSION - ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS NO DAMAGE OR EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING HITTING THE ROOF ANYWHERE ELSE THAT I CAN SEE NOW. I HAVE CONTACTED SUBARU AND MADE THEM AWARE THEY HAVE BEGUN THEIR OWN INTERNAL INVESTIGATION.

Apr 2019 VISIBILITY/WIPER MY CONCERN IS WITH THE QUALITY AND SAFETY OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. I PURCHASED A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK ON 12/31/18. IT NOW HAS 3200 MILES ON IT. ON 04/17/19 I NOTICED AN 8-10 INCH CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS A VERY SMALL, BARELY NOTICEABLE, CHIP WITHIN THE CRACK. AT NO TIME DID I HEAR ANYTHING HIT THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. THEREFORE, A CRACKED WINDSHIELD WAS SHOCKING AND ENTIRELY UNEXPECTED FROM SUCH MINIMAL CONTACT WITH THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN THE CAR IS NOT IN USE IT IS GARAGE KEPT. MY COMMUTE HAS NOT CHANGED SINCE BUYING THIS CAR AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR WINDSHIELD CRACK IN OVER 30 YEARS OF DRIVING. DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE CRACK, THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD MUST BE REPLACED AND THE SUBARU "EYESIGHT" SYSTEM RE-CALIBRATED. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT HAVE CRACKED IN THIS SITUATION. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH INDICATES THAT OTHERS HAVE CONCERNS WITH THE 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK WINDSHIELD.

THE CAR WAS BOUGHT ON JAN 20TH OF 2019 AND HAS 4200 MILES. CALLED SAFELITE AND THEY ARE ESTIMATING $1300+ TO REPLACE.

BOTH TIMES WERE ON AN HIGHWAY, TRAVELING ABOUT 45MPH. I HAVE HAD THINGS POP UP AND HIT MY WINDSHIELD IN OTHER VEHICLES AND MAYBE THEY JUST CHILL OR STAR . I FEEL THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN THE STRENGTH OF THE GLASS THAT IS USED, IN THIS VEHICLE I FEEL IT IS EXTREMELY WEAK.

Mar 2019 UNKNOWN OR OTHER THE WINDSHIELD DEVELOPED A CRACK AND SIGNIFICANT EXPANSION CRACKS WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON A HIGHWAY ON 27MAR2019. THERE WAS NO CAR WITHIN 1-2 FOOTBALL FIELDS. THIS WAS ON A 4-LANE DIVIDED HIGHWAY. THE PEBBLE THAT MAY HAVE HIT MY WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT HAVE CAUSED THE SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD SINCE NO VEHICLE WAS NEARBY. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR FOR <2 MONTHS AND HAVE DRIVEN IT ~3500 MILES. IT WAS BRAND NEW. IT APPEARS THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT MAY BE SIMILAR TO THE 2015-2016 OUTBACK. I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE MAY CONTINUED CRACKS/FRACTURES OF THE WINDSHIELD WITH MINIMAL TRAUMA. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

I HAD AN ISSUE WHERE MY WINDSHIELD WAS STRUCK WITH SOME SMALL DEBRIS AND CAUSED A CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD. A WEEK LATER IT CRACKED SEVERELY ON THE BOTTOM PASSENGER SIDE. TWO WEEKS' AFTER, A SMALL PEBBLE HIT THE TOP PASSENGER SIDE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND CAUSED A PIT. A WEEK AFTER THAT ISSUE IT ALSO CRACKED SEVERELY WHERE THE SECOND HIT OCCURRED. I AM AWARE OF THE CLASS ACTION ISSUE FOR FRONT WINDSHIELDS FROM 2016 TO 2017 FOR OUTBACK'S. IS THIS AN ONGOING PROBLEM? IF SO HOW CAN YOUR COMPANY CLAIM TO THE SAFEST VEHICLE ON THE ROAD IF THE WINDSHIELD CONTINUES TO HAVE ISSUES. I HAVE A BABY ON THE WAY IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AND NOW I DOUBT THE SAFETY OF MY CHOICE. I NOW HAVE TO USE MY INSURANCE, MY MONEY AND TAKE TIME OUT OF MY BUSYNESS TO HAVE THIS FIXED. I HAVE HAD MANY CARS IN MY LIFETIME AND HAD VARYING AMOUNTS OF ITEMS HIT THE WINDSHIELD ON THE FREEWAY AND NEVER HAD A CRACK HAPPEN. I WAS BEHIND A CONSTRUCTION VEHICLE AND HAD A LARGE AMOUNT OF TAR CHUNKS AND ROCKS HIT MY NISSAN ALTIMA. IT HAD SOME CHIPS IN THE WINDSHIELD BUT NEVER CRACKED. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR LESS THAN 3 MONTHS WITH LESS THAN 2000 MILES ON IT AND ALREADY SEVERE CHIPS AND CRACKS IN MY WINDSHIELD? THE GLASS COMPANY THAT WAS USED MUST BE ALLOWING INFERIOR PRODUCTS TO BE SOLD. I WANT TO KNOW HOW I CAN BE COMPENSATED FOR MY TIME AND AGUISH AND HOW YOUR COMPANY CAN FIX THIS ONGOING ISSUE? THE GLASS ON THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY QUALITY ISSUES AS IT HAS NOT SEEN ANY ROAD TIME OR WEAR ALONG WITH SUN DEGRADATION. Jan 2019 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY/WIPER THE CAR WAS NOT USED OVER THE WEEKEND EXCEPT FOR A 5 MILE TRIP TO CHURCH WHERE IT DID NOT ENCOUNTER ANY ROCKS, HITS, ETC. DROVE HOME AND THE CAR WINDSHIELD WAS FIND. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I GOT INTO THE CAR, AFTER I USED MY REMOTE TO START AND WARM UP MY OUTBACK, THERE WAS ABOUT AN 8-10 INCH CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT ORIGINATED FROM BEYOND THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE CRACK GREW WORSE TO ABOUT 12 INCHES. CALLED SUBARU DEALER WHO DIRECTED ME TO THEIR WINDSHIELD SERVICE AGENT. TOOK TIME OFF FROM WORK AND THEY INSTALLED OEM GLASS (INSURANCE COVERS THIS) AND CALIBRATED THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER DRIVING HOME, THE CAR MADE WIND TUNNEL NOISES, WINDSHIELD FLUID SYSTEM DID NOT WORK, NAVIGATION DID NOT WORK SO I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER (TOOK MORE TIME OFF FROM WORK). THEY FOUND A LEAK IN THE WINDSHIELD, REPAIRED THE FLUID UNIT AND IGNORED THE NAVIGATION ISSUE. THEY SENT ME BACK TO THEIR AGENT. THEY TOOK OUT THE WINDSHIELD REPOSITIONED IT AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. TODAY I FOUND PUDDLES OF WATER ON THE FLOOR OF MY CAR (LEAK), NAVIGATION DOES NOT WORK AND WIND TUNNEL NOISE IS STILL THERE. THIS WINDSHIELD IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AS EXTRA SUPPORT FOR THE ROOF, PREVENTION OF OBJECTS FLYING AT YOU AND ALLOW FOR THE EYESIGHT SYSTEM TO DO ITS JOB. THIS CAR IS ONE MONTH OLD AND THE CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD EXPERIENCE SOUNDS EERILY SIMILAR TO OTHERS' COMPLAINTS. WHEN YOU PAY THE MONEY FOR A TOP SAFETY PICK, YOU WANT THE SAFETY AND I DO NOT HAVE IT.

Jan 2019 SERVICE BRAKES I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT AN ISSUE WITH WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE THE BRAKING SYSTEM IN THE 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK. WHILE DRIVING NORTHBOUND ON THE DALLAS NORTH TOLL WAY, AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 65 TO 70 MPH, I TAPPED ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN FOR THE UPCOMING DECLINE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR SUDDENLY AND ABRUPTLY STOPPED. IT WAS AS IF THE BRAKES "LOCKED", I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. WE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE TOLLWAY AND WERE UNABLE TO ACCELERATE THE CAR. WE WERE HIT FROM BEHIND. THE STOPPAGE WAS SO SUDDEN THAT IT RESULTED IN A THREE-CAR COLLISION. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING AFTER THE COLLISION. THE POLICE OFFICER INSTRUCTED ME TO TRY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROAD, BUT DESPITE MY PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WAS STILL UNABLE TO MOVE EVEN A SMALL DISTANCE. *DT *AS

BY THE TIME I HAD DRIVEN ON ABOUT 100 MILES ON RURAL AND 4 LANE ROADS I WAS REALLY DISTURBED BY THE WAY THE VEHICLE "WANDERED" FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND SEEMINGLY WITHOUT ANY STEERING WHEEL INPUT EXCEPT ENOUGH TO CORRECT THE DRIFT TO RIGHT OR LEFT. IT SEEMS WHEN THE WHEELS ARE CENTERED THE STEERING WHEEL APPEARS TO HAVE "DEAD ZONE". I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID "WE GET A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THAT". TOOK IT TO DEALER ON 30 OCT 2018 AS(3341 MILES) AND SAID IT WAS ALRIGHT . I HAVE NOT "GOTTEN USED TO IT" AND IS EXHAUSTING TO DRIVE. IT IS LIKE DRIVING IN STRONG CROSS WINDS WHEN THERE IS NO WIND OR HYDROPLANING ON DRY ROADS.

NATURALLY IT CAN'T BE FIXED BECAUSE NO ONE HAS THE WINDSHIELD FOR A 2019 SUBARU OUTBACK IN STOCK OR AVAILABLE BY ORDER. NO VISIBLE CHIP DAMAGE APPARENT. NOTE THERE ARE MULTIPLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS AGAINST SUBARU FOR THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM.
