Aug 2022 BACK OVER PREVENTION Four months after warranty expiration, the back up camera began malfunctioning - either not working at all (black screen when in reverse) or camera image stuck on "fish eye". The wiring harness between body and tailgate is clearly frayed, with copper wires showing some as severed and some as lacking insulation. Worried about backing up into/over pedestrian or bicycle.

Aug 2022 BACK OVER PREVENTION Backup camera intermittently worked for several weeks (working, black screen with yellow guides, radio instead of camera on center display). Jul 2022 STRUCTURE,VISIBILITY/WIPER Hood is warped because of 3 years of it not latching properly. Recall did not fix the problem. According to the recall, if the hood is damaged they are supposed to replace it, which it is damaged. Honda Autonation 104 refuses to do so saying "this is normal" and I have provided Honda service people that will vouch for us. Provided photos and videos. Safety is put at risk for the driver and passengers along with other motorists if a failure happens and the hood fly's open at highway speeds it could cause death. Yes has been confirmed by dealer employees and and other service shops. The dealer managers refuse to even come look at the vehicle even when it is there at the dealer. First appeared 6 months after we bought the vehicle brand new from said dealer. Has been documented on many of our oil change visits. Still refuse to replace damaged/warped hood. To add to our frustration, Corporate Honda is also in agreement with the dealership. No one from the dealership or Corporate Honda has ever actually inspected the hood. This vehicle, 2019 Honda Ridgeline, has never been involved in any sort of accident and has been very well maintained and taken care of.
Incident: Sep 2019
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Jul 2022 POWER TRAIN At 45k miles the transmission is surging at low speed. according to several honda forums, this is a very common problem cause by a bad torque converter. Mine is going to the dealership for repair Friday (I first have to pay $200 for transmission fluid flush/replacement) Even the guy at the dealerships new it was an issue (told me: "probably torque converter, seeing a lot of those"). vehicle is in great shape otherwise and has been babied the whole time. he says torque converter is covered only up to 60k miles. this needs to be a recall!

Jun 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER Rear Back-up camera cuts in and out. Upon inspection I could see Rear Tailgate wiring harness at tailgate hinge area is damaged( broken wires) . This is known issue with 2017-2019 Honda Ridgeline that the NHTSA is currently investigating.

May 2022 FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM After a short trip; usually to shop, I get a gas smell inside the truck when I restart. Honda dealer could not duplicate. The smell sometimes is also under the hood.
Incident: May 2022
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
May 2022 BACK OVER PREVENTION Rear backup camera does not work, not a fuse issue. As we are seniors and have come to rely on camera while backing up, small children (our grandchildren) and pedestrians (while shopping) are at risk. Dangerous safety risk. We should not have to pay for this repair which I consider a safety issue on such a new vehicle.

Apr 2022 STRUCTURE,LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the hood was shaking significantly. The contact stated upon opening the hood, he noticed that the hood latch was significantly loose. Additionally, the contact stated that there were gaps in the front seals of the hood, allowing air inside, which caused the hood to vibrate. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V932000 (Structure, Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the striker support plate was installed; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repair was not completed on the vehicle as no issues were found; however, the work order showed that the striker support plate was installed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the hood could not be replaced under NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V932000 (Structure, Latches/Locks/Linkages) however, the manufacturer recall remedy notes stated that the hood could be completely replaced with a new part for free. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000. Parts distribution disconnect. the only repair (striker support plate installation) that was done in regards to the recall. Despite the fact that consumer informed the dealer that she was still experiencing severe hood vibration at highway speeds, from the air entry through gaps between the hood and grill, which have caused the latch assembly to become extremely loose, the dealership has expressly told the consumer that they adhered to all the required guidelines when it comes to remedying this recall.

Mar 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The backup camera stopped functioning due to a wiring defect. The backup camera is installed in the tailgate and wires go between the tailgate and the body on the driver's side. Due to a design defect, these wire are prone to wear, pinching, and being cut during normal operation of the tailgate. The copper in these wires on my truck is exposed and some wires are cut resulting in the backup camera no longer functioning. This creates a safety hazard for both the driver and other people, vehicles, etc. when the car is being backed up. This issue is being investigated on 2017-2018 Honda Ridgelines (NHTSA Action Number: PE22001) but is also occurring on 2019 models which are not currently included in the investigation. This problem first occurred on my truck less than one month and less than 1000 miles after the warranty expired.

Mar 2022 UNKNOWN OR OTHER The restraints for the OEM bed cover failed and could no longer be properly tightened. The restraints closest to the cab include a carriage bolt where the square in the head is inserted into the plastic body of the restrain to prevent rotation. A nut is spun on the bolt to tighten the restraint mechanism between the cover and a mounting point in the bed. The square in plastic body of the restraint stripped during normal use, allowing the carriage bolt to rotate which prevents the restraint from being properly tightened and the cover from being properly attached to the truck. Without proper restraint, the bed cover could come loose at highway speeds and pose a danger to other motorists.

Mar 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER In March 0f 2021 the backup camera failed. I paid Balise Honda $364.12 to replace the failed backup camera. Now on March 23, 2022 the camera has failed a second time. This backup camera is part of Honda's safety package, and Honda must correct this issue.

Mar 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM While opening the swinging tailgate, I noticed a rubbing sound. I closed the tailgate and opened it the standard method and noticed that the wire harness for the backup camera was out of the plastic holder/elbow and the outer harness shield had separated with the actual wires visible. I searched online and discovered this site: https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/threads/2017-2020-broken-tailgate-harness-causes-backup-camera-failure.217776/page-10. Apparently this is a known issue and if I had not discovered it, the wires most likely would have been severed rendering the backup camera inoperative. I brought the truck to the dealership and they confirmed the problem and mentioned that they have replaced multiple wire harnesses on other Ridgelines with the same issue. The dealership was unsure why there isn’t a recall or at least a TSB. I noted that the replacement part number is the same as the original and am concerned that this issue will again arise in the future. The truck had just under 28,000 miles when this issue was discovered.

Mar 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Backup camera has stopped working. I can see cables that have been damaged because of a poorly designed cable harness routing through the Ridgelines 2 way opening tail gate. There are hundreds of posts regarding this defect (https://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/threads/2017-2020-broken-tailgate-harness-causes-backup-camera-failure.217776/page-20) The backup camera is completely useless now and with the Ridgeline's higher truck bed (due to the "trunk" funtion), it is very difficult to see when backing up and makes the vehicle much more likely to be involved in a backing up accident.

Mar 2022 STRUCTURE The contact owns a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while passing semi- trucks on the highway traveling the opposite direction, the hood lifted up and vibrated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but it was unknown if the vehicle was diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 0.
Incident: Jul 2019
Crash: No Fire: No Unknown
Mar 2022 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM With normal use of the dual action tailgate, the wiring harness for the backup camera becomes pinched repeatedly causing the jackets around the wires, the wires and the wire protection to break, resulting in the backup camera being inoperable. This seems to happen just outside of the warranty and requires that the wires are cut and new wire soldered in or complete replacement of the wiring harness from the tailgate to the cab.
