| Jul 2024 | STEERING | When driving, the Steering feels like it “sticks” in one position. The problem has been ongoing for about a year and has gotten worse. My vehicle now has 28,294 miles on it but is out of warranty due to time. I had it to the dealership today and was told the part to fix it is the steering rack and is already on back order and cannot predict when it can be repaired at a cost of 3500.00-4000.00. I was told by the service department tech that it is safe to drive, but I don’t think it is as it creates more effort to steer. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | EXTERIOR LIGHTING | The turn signals rapidly flicker on & off when the CRV is parked, engine off and continued off for hours. The turn signals flicker intermittently all night every night. I informed American Honda and Headquarter Honda in Clermont, FL the symptoms exactly mirrored the symptoms of a known questionable Body Control Module that is used throughout their product line up and involved in a huge existing recall. I have a video I would like to share of the flickering lights. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | There is a recall issued for my vehicle. I have experienced the exact symptoms described as part of the recall notice. I had a check engine light. Initially they said it was the battery and replaced it, however, a month later again was the same problem. They had an area of diagnosis where it said fuel injection replacement. I was charged 3k. I spoke to them and asked why is it that I had to replace my battery within 1 month, thats very odd. Why is not the recall issue that is the problem and why do they not fix that for me? Why is it that the recall issue is not causing my issues or secondairly causing my issues and everything is being addressed but the recall? I called company. They said they cant get any information from the dealership because of their systems being down—in 2024, lies. Systems can be down but eventually they can be fixed. They asked me to go to a different dealership. I have gone to a different dealership. I was told that the company is not reimbursing people despite having these issues of starting vehciles and check engine signs. These companies need to be held accountable. If a recall is issued, and when a customer is having issues, they cant just blame it one the batter or other parts and act like the recall is not the issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | We pulled into a restraunt on 7/7/24 and as we were parking the car my wife started to put on the brakes. The car accelerated and ran over the curb in front of the car. There was no damage to the car that I could see. She has been driving this car since 2019 with no problem. I thought maybe she stepped on the gas instead but she said no. There were no floor mats on top of the gas pedal so it must be something with the car. I read on the internet of other people having the same problem. I hope we can get this repaired ASAP. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | STEERING | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel felt stiff while attempting to make a turn and the contact started to lose control of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact heard a loud creaking sound coming from the steering wheel while attempting to make a turn. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the power steering assist needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 55,000 |
| Jul 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Brakes engaged on their own while going 50 mph. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | POWER TRAIN | My sister was driving on a highway going about 65 mph, and the rear cv axle suddenly snapped. A Honda dealership inspected the vehicle; they determined the root cause to be the rear differential engine loosing power, causing strain on the rear axle. There were no warning that the differential engine lost power. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | I was driving on [XXX] in Danvers and they grooved the highway for resurfacing. I was doing the speed limit 65mph. When I hit the lip of the road where it returned to normal I heard a sound like something hit my cars glass. I got home and inspected my vehicle and saw no chips or dents. The next night at 5pm I was getting in my car and noticed my moonroof was cracked and damaged. I didn't see anything fly at me . I'm lead to believe when I hit the 2 inch lip my cars body twisted and popped that moonroof. I keep the slider closed or the glass would have rained down on me . I hear they don't use the proper glass on them. The new one says tempered. Just thought I'd share with you INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | Emergency breaking for no reason. Car shuts down and stalls. Flashing Emission system problem, brake systems problem, brake hold systems problem, Power steering systems problem, vehicle stability assist problem, Hill start assist problem, adaptive cruise control problem, Collision mitigation System problem, Road departure mitigation system, problem. This is continuing to happen after the recall was supposed to be fixed. My car is unsafe to drive. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that several unknown messages were displayed. Additionally, the brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the O-Ring Seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); which the vehicle had previously been repaired under. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 34,140. | Crash: No Fire: No | 34,140 |
| Jun 2024 | SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving the Honda CRV down a main road. There was no traffic in front of me. I was traveling at a rate of 45 or so miles an hour. Without warning, the emergency breaking system activated briefly. There was nothing in front of the vehicle that should’ve caused the system to deploy. This is the only time I have experienced this issue. Fortunately, there were no cars behind me traveling at a close distance. The brake deployed only briefly but it caused the tires to screech. I was able to maintain control of the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | The vehicle stopped automatically while driving. The automated braking applied even though there was no vehicle in front. This is scary as it might lead to a fatal incident on highway or when the vehicle on back is close. I reported the incident to American Honda and was expecting to receive courtesy free inspection and repairs needed. But they said as the vehicle is outside of warranty period, I will have to bear the cost of inspection and repair if required which is very disappointing. I believe it's related to ABS malfunction. I researched online and found similar issues reported by others. This is a very concerning as the vehicle came into full stop while driving all of a sudden even though there was no vehicle in front. This incident happened today. My vehicle has around 45k mileage as of today. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | STEERING | Steering binds when making slight steering corrections. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | STEERING | The steering wheel is not turning smoothly when slightly. Steering sticking when slightly turning side to side. Sonda service suggests replacing EPS Rack assembly. $3100 | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | STEERING | The steering sticks and gets stuck. I have to turn the wheel so hard at times, the vehicle wants to veer into the other lane. I could hit another car or drive off the road. Occurs at high or low speed. I have taken the vehicle to the Honda dealership and they confirmed "electronic steering rack assembly internal malfunction. The dealership Honda of Sarasota Florida indicated this is very common problem. The issue is so common the part is on nationwide back order from Honda. The vehicle is unsafe to drive and the repair estimate is $3826. No ETA on parts. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | STEERING | Eight months ago while returning home from a road trip my steering began acting strange. Seemed sticky. Not smooth. I disengaged the cruise control but the problem was still there. After returning home it was not as noticeable unless I drove a minimum of 10-15 minutes. . Then I began hearing a clicking sound coming from the steering wheel and when driving on an interstate for about 20 minutes the effort to keep the steering wheel from sticking to the left or right becomes very tiring. A constant battle. The problem is getting worse and more pronounced. I disengaged the Lane Departure Feature but it didn’t improve anything. I’ve recently taken the vehicle to the Honda Dealer and I now have to replace the Steering Rack at a cost of $3500 before tax and front end alignment. I am waiting for a steering rack to become available as there is a nationwide shortage at this time. My dealership is familiar with this problem as they get daily complaints of this issue. I will not be driving this vehicle on my planned summer vacation until it’s fixed. I don’t feel it’s safe. The effort to overcome the stickiness in the steering wheel becomes very exhausting. I can’t imagine driving several hundred miles in this condition. Frankly, I’m not certain it’s even safe to drive any distance as I worry it may one day Lock Up. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | STEERING,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,AIR BAGS | *This car was parked in the driveway 2 days without being driven before the following incident* ALSO- there are recalls for this make and model. Honda always said that the recalls do not include my car. Recalls should be expanded to include mine since the car is un drivable at the Honda service center. WHAT HAPPENED: Alarm went off on car in driveway. Horn constantly going off. Smoke came out around steering wheel and inside the vehicle filled with smoke. All lights came on dash. Gears were locked up and had to manually put in neutral to get on tow truck. Car is at Honda dealership in cumming GA. Said I needed steering wheel cable, srs unit, safety restraints unit, & brake boosters. They put parts on. Did same thing to them as it did in my driveway. Horn & smoke & all!! Now they say it needs steering wheel & the harness is on back order until August 28! and that my vin # is NOT on the recall but I believe it should be. This car could have caused a fire and was parked beside my house. My family and I were at risk and almost called police and fire department. Newborn baby, & other family members inside the home. Family members disconnected the battery because horn was so loud. All these repairs are headed towards $9000 & this is insane. This is my only vehicle. I must have transportation! | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | STEERING | For about the last 6 months, we have experienced the "sticky steering" during every drive. I did not realize other Honda CRVs have been having the same issue, although it appears most reported model years have been newer than our 2019 model. There have been no "check engine" or warning lights on the dash. We have had a few experiences of the CRV being difficult to maintain within the lane while driving, although luckily no accidents at this time. We took our CRV to the Honda dealer who was able to experience the steering issue of our CRV, and acknowledged the current solution is to replace the steering gearbox assembly, which was quoted at $3500 (labor included), and the gearbox assembly is on national backorder with no estimated time of being available. To make the situation worse, the dealership requires a full payment upfront of the cost for the part ($2500). This steering gearbox issue is a huge safety concern, and without an estimated time of remedy, our confidence in Honda at this point in time is not the highest. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | STEERING | My car is having sticking steering and creaky noise when it turns. I googled this online. They have over 500,000 cars with the same issue. I went to get it checked out they want me to pay $3400 to get this fixed. I believe this is a major safety issue. Steering sticks at high speed very scary. The parts are on backorder, which leads me to believe there’s multiple cars having same issue. what I read into this is that Honda is more worried about the profit versus the safety of their consumers and their loyal consumers. that is over 500,000 cars with the same issue. Honda should be fixing these for charge. I have an injured in this car. It is the only one I have to drive. Before they fix it. I think they should fix it for free because it’s obviously a defect and 100,000 cars and therefore their liability to protect their customers. When you call her number, they talk about safety. They don’t give a dam about safety they only care about making a profit. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jun 2024 | FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE | The contact owns a 2019 Honda CR-V. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that occasionally the vehicle failed to immediately start as needed. The cause of the failure was not determined, and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 28,000. Parts distribution disconnect. | Crash: No Fire: No | 28,000 |
| Jun 2024 | FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE | I was driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on [XXX] with moderate traffic, going approximately 70 mph. I was traveling in the #1 (left most) lane. I had been using Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) for several hours without any problems. ACC started behaving differently: instead of automatically applying the brakes when the vehicle in front slowed down, I had to press the break peddle manually. This happed twice before the car suddenly, unexpectedly, applied full braking force. I had to take emergency action to avoid being hit by the vehicle behind me and quickly move onto the left shoulder. My vehicle completed its stop on the shoulder. A message flashed on the instrument panel (I believe it was related to the brakes), I was too busy getting off the road to read it. After the vehicle stopped, the brakes released, and I was again able to drive. I turned off ACC and re-entered the freeway (with some difficulty, as traffic was moving very fast). We continued our journey to our destination without cruise control activated. There were no further problems. I took my vehicle into the dealer when I returned from our trip. They inspected it and checked for codes. There were no codes. They did a short test drive and had no problems. The said vehicle needed software updates and did them. Updated EBB, EVPS, and updated ACC/CMBS and PGM F/I software. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
