| Date | Component | Summary | Severity | Mileage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sep 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | The vehicle is a 10 speed automatic, while driving the vehicle when it gets to about 4th gear, the transmission slips. This vehicle was purchased brand new and has only 64,000 miles on it. The transmission slips and at lower speeds when the transmission slips and hesitates before it shifts to another gear, this is a safety issue as while the vehicle semi stalls causes the potential to be rear ended by a trailing vehicle. This vehicle manufacturer should stop selling these transmissions that have serious issues with them. Surely when you purchase a brand new vehicle you don’t expect to have any problems with it at four years into ownership. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not included in a recall and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The transmission has failed, yes, it is currently at a Ford Dealership. Hard shifting and not shifting or accelerating. As stated above the vehicle is at a Ford dealership service department. The Ford dealership technician has inspected and diagnosed. Dash light that said see manual. Symptoms started beginning of July at which point I drove vehicle sparingly as it continued to get worse. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION | My Synch 3 system has been acting up since I installed Fords last update. It shows the back up camera when I drive forward. The screen will also go black forcing me to reset it. The reset doesn't work for more then a couple of days and doesn't completely ix the issues either. I cannot get it to pair my phone either and have not been able to use hands free while driving for 3 months now. I believe this is a safety issue that needs to be fixed by Ford as there are numerous complaints on line. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The separator plate between the transmission and engine has corroded to the point of interference with the torque converter. Safety problems associated with this could cause sudden loss of power or control while driving. The dealership says this has been a common repair when being inspected for the rattling sound coming under the vehicle which was the only indicator. Repairs are on hold at this time but will be replaced soon. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | POWER TRAIN,ENGINE | My 2019 F150 with the 10 speed transmission has several issues that I believe affect the safety and reliability of the vehicle: 1) The transmission shifts very roughly into 5th gear. The shifts are so rough that I suspect the other components of the drive train are being placed under unnecessary strain. 2) When moving forward at idle the truck will on occasion surge forward. This is a potential safety issue if it were to occur in traffic. 3) When moving forward at slow speeds the transmission periodically slips as if it was shifted into neutral. My local dealership "flashed" the software for the transmission but it did not correct the problem. I returned the truck to the dealership and they've now had it for 2 months with no resolution to the problem. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The trucks computer has a glitch the past few weeks where it will request permission repeatedly for OTA updates. Since this started, the rear view camera sometimes stays on after shifting from reverse to drive. It has remained on up to 30-40mph before the screen goes completely black. When the screen goes black, no functions work on the screen or audio/nav/camera controls except the radio on/off manual button. A hard reset fixes the issue temporarily by restarting the SYNC system, however it reoccurs frequently. This issue can be a safety concern because it is very distraction and the audio/phone controls cannot be changed or used during driving (i.e. handsfree or nav if you were in the middle of using them). It also puts into question whether or not the rear view camera system works or if it is properly interfacing with the rear parking sensors of the vehicle. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle made an abnormal loud rattling sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred while starting the vehicle after the vehicle had been parked and turned off for a long while. The contact stated that he received a notice of Ford Campaign Number: 21B10, which he related to the failure. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the campaign. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000. The contact stated Ford remedied the issue at no cost. | Crash: No Fire: No | 44,000 |
| Aug 2023 | VISIBILITY/WIPER,BACK OVER PREVENTION | Rearview camera system malfunction. Randomly sync screen stays black. Randomly vehicle continues to show rear camera even though vehicle is driving forward. Problem started around April 2023 at 60,000 miles. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION | For the last four months, February 2023, through June, July 2023 the main computer screen will intermittently go black. This illuminates the N vehicle, NAV system, phone system, backup, cameras, Ford cameras, driver, seat, control. This vehicle was covered under a warranty. This vehicle was brought to the dealer and an error code could not be generated. The dealer states that this is the sink system. Video will be attached if this complaint form allows. Despite video the dealer will not replace the sink system. This is a danger to anyone over the age of 70 driving this vehicle or perhaps any age individual. In addition, the NAV system, directional control, Forward adaptive cruise control appears not working at the same time. This is a health and safety issue perhaps even a life endangering situation. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle jerked and hesitated while shifting gear. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed, and no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle had not been repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 49,000 |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN | I purchased the vehicle, new, in May 2019. Currently have approximately 60,000 miles, the majority of which are highway miles. At about 50,000 miles, I noticed severe "jerking", "slippage", "stalling" of the transmission(10-speed automatic). The transmission slippage/jerking was especially noticeable when automatically shifting between gear ranges 3-6. The slippage was also noticeable between gear ranges 8-10. I also noticed that when not accelerating (and essentially coasting), the transmission disengaged entirely (in the 20-35 mph range, or gear 3-5) and when I tried to accelerate, there was a 2-3 second delay period before the transmission engaged. This really troubled me, as in some cases, I felt like I did not have control of the car (e.g. the ability to speed up immediately, to avoid a road hazard). I did ask the the last Ford dealer (when I had an oil change in mid-June 2023, at about 55,000 miles) if there were any default codes related to the transmission. They stated "no" even though I told them about the issue. They did not offer to investigate further. Since that time, I have driven another 4-5k miles, and have an oil change scheduled next week. I informed the dealer, this time, that I want a transmission expert to review the problem. I'll know more on August 31st. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | 2019 Ford F-150 Sync programming MEMORY ISSUES Indicative Issues: * Sync no longer retains bluetooth pairing information when the engine is started. * When engine starts Sync 3 always asks: "Do you want to turn on the following features?" * Responding to "Do you want to turn on the following features?" is useless. * Any changes in settings are not retained when engine is turned off. * Screen goes black at times and only on a soft reset with Sync return. * Attempting a Master Reset will either not start or hangs indefinitely. * The backup camera will often stay on even when driving forward until a soft reset is done. * Upon engine start the radio is always on & must be turned off. Expert responses: Local Ford Dealer: The APIM is bad. $1300 fix. Ford Support: The Sync 3 update is at fault causing memory issues. The fix might be available at the end of September, 2023. [XXX] : Multitude of Ford Sync 3 users experiencing similar system failures. (See link: [XXX] ) Possible Danger: These failures render the sync 3 system useless or at least requiring constant attention between engine starts. Some of the issues occur while the vehicle is in operation. The backup camera is especially a concern) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | I bought this truck last April, and have not had an issue like this since I bought it. Today, when I got off the highway I made a stop on a light and proceeded on a road (45mph) about a quarter mile down I felt my truck slowing down and all of the sudden it stopped in the middle of the road. I gave it a little gas but it didn’t move much, at first I thought the transmission blew but I didn’t have any lights illuminated nor did I hear any noises. The road I was on was on an incline so I put the truck into neutral and the truck stood still, the brakes felt odd, stiffer than usual. To make a long story short I managed to pull into a parking lot, and started to inspect the vehicle. The rotors were very hot, so I thought maybe something is wrong with the brakes. I opened the hood and I started disconnecting vacuum hoses, one of the hoses closest to the brake booster was stuck and as I disconnected it I heard a loud hiss of air suction. I plugged it back in and started the truck, I put it in N and it started to roll again, and I regained normal brake pedal feeling. On the uploaded image, I circled where I disconnected the vacuum line. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Aug 2023 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTION | Touch screen Sync3 version 22251 resets every time the truck is turned off and back on. Sometimes the screen is completely blank and sometimes unresponsive to touch. Controls for climate, radio, phone, and all other touch screen options become unavailable. Ford is aware and hasn’t made any updates in over 8 months. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN | VCT solenoids failed. Unit was to be covered under warranty. Parts are unavailable but I was told it was "OK" to use and operate the vehicle. The vehicle stalls and hesitates when using it. Causes an issue when crossing an intersection or in traffic. I'm concerned the vehicle will stall when crossing intersections, Have a safety fear. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | AIR BAGS | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the air bag cover on the steering wheel was cracked, visually exposing the air bag. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 114,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 114,000 |
| Aug 2023 | UNKNOWN OR OTHER | The Syn screen freezes up randomly. Often it turns black and a soft reset has to be performed. Randomly, the backup camera screen is displayed while driving forward up to about 30 mph, then the screen turns black. None of the radio presets will stay in memory. If I shut the truck off with an XM Sirius station on, when the truck is restarted 540 AM is playing loudly. The screen locking up while driving is a hazard. Multiple screens popping up that need interaction while driving is a distraction. I can't see the climate control temp setting when it locks up. The Sync APIM is bad and needs to be replaced. This is a common problem found on various forums. The date below is when it started. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | SERVICE BRAKES | Seeing the future recall for 2021-23 F-150's emergency brake issue, I have a 2019 F-150 and have experienced this issue. Moving very slowly in stop and go traffic, loud bang, vehicles skids to an immediate stop chirping the tires while in moving traffic. No warning lights on dash, wife and myself stopped forcefully by seatbelts. About 2 seconds later, vehicle moved forward and continued on. No impact by other vehicles. I have had one experience with this but please include my truck in the recall. This incident happened just before July 4th 2023. Thank you. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2023 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while in park, the vehicle accelerated independently. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle accelerated without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The driver was unable to control the vehicle. The check engine warning and power train warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the failure was related to the transmission. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 90,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 90,000 |
| Aug 2023 | ENGINE | Total engine failure while driving ~70 MPH, on a 4-5 lane highway, during rush hour traffic. No CEL activated, other vehicles had to swerve around my truck while I maneuvered the lanes with no engine power. Myself and my 5 year old son are lucky to be alive. 66k miles on truck when engine failed, issues started at 41K miles. Have taken vehicle to multiple Ford dealerships, 13 times in the last 2 years under warranty complaining of engine rattle, knock, noise, and oil consumption. Informed each time no engine issues present. Referred me to "Excessive Oil TSB" and "Engine Knock and Noise TSBs". Was instructed that this was normal operation and treated as if I was somehow crazy. Was taken to dealership for oil consumption check early Feb 2023 and engine failed March 2023. Requested Ford fill out a NHTSA report many times to include an ethics complaint from March to July 2023 and I feel I have been misled and they have not reported this issue. I have requested a root cause be performed as to how an engine fails after 13 visits (in 2 years) at 66k miles and feel that the issue is trying to be covered up, get a new engine in, and get rid of the old one with zero due diligence as to what occurred. 65+ maintenance record pages provided to Ford, an overview of event with maps attached, video of scenario sent, to no avail. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
