Feb 2024 POWER TRAIN,ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM The variable camshaft timing (VCT) solenoid becomes gummed up, causing the engine to lag. Specifically after driving on the interstate or highway and then sitting at a red light. The VCT does not perform properly and the engine idle drops, causing the truck to stall and die at the light. Online forums show this to be a common problem for the past couple generations of this Ford 5.0 L motor and always seems to occur between 80,000 and 100,000 miles.

Feb 2024 EXTERIOR LIGHTING my drivers side tail light burned out. I replaced with the recommended bulb Sylvania 3057. several months later, the same tail light became very dim, and upon removing the assembly, I noticed the sockets for the bulbs were melting. I was told by the Ford dealer service writer that this was caused by poor quality bulbs. The tail light assembly was damaged requiring a new assembly, new sockets. I am concerned that this could be a fire hazard, and wondering why there was no fuse to protect the wiring. The repair facility discarded the damaged part, but I do have a photo.

Feb 2024 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM There was an update to my sync 3 system that Ford wanted me to perform by wi-fi. I did it but Ford had some bugs in the system that caused my voice recognition not to work so if I need to make a phone call I had pick up the phone. This is not safe or legal in Missouri. Ford sent out a new version but my truck would not take it for some reason. I took it to the dealer they could not update it either. Dealers said I need a new APIM that would cost me $1600 for a part that Ford broke with their messed up update. I just wanted to have this on record in case there are vehicle crashes caused by people not being able to use the hands free calling that I thought I was getting when I purchased the truck.

Feb 2024 STRUCTURE I purchased this truck as a Ford blue certified vehicle with 6,800 miles. Driving home, I heard a loud rattle coming from the front passenger door area that was consistent on all road types. Upon further inspection, I found that the crash bar inside the front passenger door was not fastened. It requires a paint cutting acorn nut, and it is clear from the intact paint on all of the stud threads that it was never fastened at the factory. I do not know how this may have affected the function of the crash bar in the event of a side impact. I repaired it myself and did not take the vehicle to a dealer for inspection.

Jan 2024 ENGINE Ford has done a service bulletin on the cam phasers once before. The issues are still not fixed and all they say is it's normal. An engine rattling due to a part they installed is not considered normal. Wrong parts were used and the problem still persists. Ford needs to be made to recall 2015 to 2019 f150 trucks as well as any other series that have the issue. The service bulletin only gave people a certain amount of time to come in and have it fixed the first time which left a lot of people out of luck due to lack of communication to the owners of said vehicles.

Jan 2024 UNKNOWN OR OTHER,VISIBILITY On Sunday Jan [XXX], I had to drive 40min to the Hospital in Oconomowoc to pick up my daughter from ER, when leaving as I was backing out of the parking spot the back window bowed outward and shattered. Glass flew everywhere both inside the truck and outward. It was very cold in Wisconsin - but the vehicle was more than warm, and the back entire window just shattered. Luckily no one was in the back seat, or they would have been seriously cut by some of the small shards of glass that came into the vehicle. There was no damage to the rear window prior, and it basically exploded for no apparent reason. It does appear Ford has been aware of this but has not placed a recall. I have tried to contact a dealer to find out if this is covered under my extended warranty but cannot seem to get ahold of just the service department to discuss further. I think Ford needs to take more responsibility for these vehicles, I have never seen anything like this in my life. This is a 2019 Ford F150 Lariat with heated defroster and slide window that exploded without cause or fault of owner. I have filed a claim with my insurance company, but it's considered a glass issue and they don't usually send out an adjuster for glass- and based on deductible would be out of pocket cost for me when I feel this is a defective issue ford should be addressing. I do have an large amount of photos, but it wont let me upload all of them. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Jan 2024 POWER TRAIN The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the transmission was skipping gears. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that when the failure occurred, her husband would release the accelerator pedal until the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that on several occasions, her husband pulled to the side of the road until the vehicle operated as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer test-drove the vehicle but could not determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Hardee Ford (1305 W Danville St, South Hill, VA 23970), where the transmission fluid was flushed and the transmission cap was replaced; however, the failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken back to the second dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.
