| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN | I started noticing my transmission slipping when I first drive my vehicle after being parked for a few hours about 8 months ago. It stopped slipping after a couple of minutes. I didn’t take it to a ford service department because various websites said that is normal with the 10 speed transmissions. About a month ago, the slipping became worse. I also started losing power. I would start to accelerate through an intersection when I would lose power. I took it to a ford service department and they said I need a new transmission based on a TSB report. I contacted Ford customer service to determine if they will cover all or most of the repairs because my truck only has 65000 miles. They finally came back and said they will only cover a small portion of the cost. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ENGINE | Mileage at time was 39,000 miles, On 8/29/2024. I was driving to when my check engine light came on. FORD dealer checked the check engine light and said I have a P0022 code which is the Right bank cam solenoid is sticking. This condition, after looking into it, has been a problem with vehicles built in 2019, 2020 and 2021. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission started making a loud noise and jerking the truck. Tachometer was showing engine rpm increasing rapidly and dropping back several hundred revolutions; gear indicator didn't change (higher or lower) indicating a gear change. Transmission temperature was running approx. 205F however would increase to 230F when the transmission would make noise multiple times. Vehicle took extra effort to control while this was happening both on an Interstate highway and secondary roads. Coming out of the mountains I had to use the brakes more than usual due to the jerking around and stopped when they experienced brake fade and I could smell them. Pic attached. Stopped later and had engine codes read with a OBD reader at auto parts store; no codes or warning lights. This is the 10R80E 10 speed transmission. Called local transmission shop and Ford dealer. Local transmission shop rep said that they have replaced several and currently have 2 in the shop now with the similar issue, explained the recurring problems with this transmission, suggested I could Google it and recommended a reman with the now upgraded/updated parts to correct the original design flaws. CDF drum, valve body and something else. The reman cost versus rebuild are about the same, reman has a better warranty than the trans shop could offer. Local Ford dealer provided "ballpark" estimate of $10K to repair or replace transmission. The vehicle has 78,000 miles on it so out of warranty. Regarding whether or not my safety was at risk, I would have to say yes due to the fact that the truck was harder to control when the transmission was jerking the vehicle around since it happened with no warning. It also happens at any speed and engine rpm, high or low doesn't seem to make any difference. I'm a certified Emergency Vehicle Operator, small to large apparatus so better experienced to deal with unexpected vehicle failures than many drivers. This was a serious problem causing significant drivability/control issues. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE | Currently Suffering from a manufacturing defect per diagnosis from Ford technician in my 2019 F150 with the 10-speed transmission. I was advised by Ford to submit the form since I must pay for the repair and updated components to fix the issue and would be reimbursed once the recall was issues. Ford has issued a new technical service bulletin (TSB 24-2046) and re-engineered the CDF drum and housing to correct the issue. Below is a list of symptoms I’ve been experiencing along with others from 2017 – 2023: Wrench light is on Clunking or banging noise when starting the engine Rough, harsh or erratic shifting Hesitation between gears Gear slipping Gear getting stuck while shifting Jerking or lunging Loss of power while driving | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ENGINE | Timing system does not adjust properly causing motor shake and the associated driver distraction. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety, and that of others, was compromised due to distraction. Yes, the problem can be reproduced by a dealer or independent service center upon request. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer. Yes, a warning light came on when the problem first occurred. It is now intermittent. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | ENGINE | The truck has a horrendous rattle on cold starts. I have had it in a Ford service center and they tell me it needs almost $4500 worth of work to repair the issue. They say EI36 Camshaft Sprocket-replace. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Sep 2024 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission abruptly shifts between lower gears (1-5), sometimes causing a jerking motion. Several times it drops down (feeling like car completely looses power) causing cars in to almost rear end vehicle, conversely jerks forward when shifting into high gear almost rear-ending car in front of me. Has happened several times. Dealer claims need to redo transmission. Upon investigating online, there are numerous similar complaints forum discussing this topic. This is a serious safety issue with Ford along with bilking customers. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon a cold start of the vehicle, an abnormal rattling sound would emit from the engine without warning. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the failure was likely related to the cam phasers. The contact notified the dealer of the failure, and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test to be performed. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 74,000 |
| Aug 2024 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | The Ford F-150 cam phaser issue primarily affects models from 2011 to 2020 with the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 engines. The cam phasers, which are components in the engine's variable valve timing system, are designed to adjust the timing of the camshafts to optimize engine performance and efficiency. The problem arises when the cam phasers start to fail or become noisy, often producing a rattling or ticking sound, particularly on cold starts. This noise is due to the phasers not locking properly or wearing out prematurely, leading to improper timing adjustments. Over time, this can result in reduced engine performance, poor fuel economy, and in some cases, engine damage if not addressed. Ford has issued Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) and extended warranties for some vehicles to address this issue. In many cases, repairs involve replacing the cam phasers, timing chains, and associated components, which can be costly. The issue has led to customer dissatisfaction and several complaints, with some owners reporting multiple repairs before the problem is fully resolved. I was not sent the letter advising me of the customer satisfaction solution and now Ford wants me to pay $4,000 to resolve this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM | Transmission has always shift loudly into 8th gear since I bought it at 31k miles. It has 95k miles on it now. Bought it in Nov 2021 used off a Ford dealer lot. Driving a few weeks ago. Going 30 mph. Stopped at a stop sign and then made a left mildly accelerated, probably around 30mph and I was still accelerating, engine goes to redline and engine shifts down to I'm guessing first. Every dash light pops on, and the truck doesn't even show it's in drive or any gear. I pulled to the next stop sign that was not to far away. I brake and shut the truck off and put it in park. I try to start it and it doesn't work. It did not turn over at all. I got it towed to home and checked it out. The transmission control module fuse was blown. I replaced it and it blew again and again. I checked for broken wires, I did not remove anything to check. I did not see anything. Had it towed to Ford. Ford told me the transmission control module had shorted out internally and they needed to order a new transmission control module. They just got it yesterday and told me they were having trouble programming it and hoping it'd be ready tomorrow. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Aug 2024 | WHEELS | Dealership could not rotate tires due to swollen lug nuts. Wanted $258.00 to replace all lug nuts. I called 800-392-3673. Said vehicle out of warranty. Said had no other calls about this problem. I look on line lots of people have this problem. I will try to fix on my own before have flat and can not remove tire on side of road. Looks like a safety issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE | The car lost ALL POWER and the ability to accelerate for more than 10 seconds. Luckily cars coming form across moved to the side to not hit me. I was stuck in the middle of the intersection. I attempted to shift manually in a panic and the car slammed really hard in likely 1st gear, red-lineed for several seconds then inched forward enough to pull to the side. I was able to proceed forward stuck in 7th gear, where the car remained stuck in that gear. This was terrifying as I had ZERO ability to move forward, the engine was revving but no gears were available | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN | I am aware of the cam phase issue with 2017-2020 F150s 3.5 Eco Boost (also effected my 2016). I have 89K miles and I took it to the dealership as my cam phasers are failing and making the engine loud and ready to fail. The repair bill is 4K and I called Ford Customer Care - who does not Care. I had purchased extended warranty, but they are stating it is not covered. This is the 2nd F150 I have owned with the problem. Ford service is stating they see "a lot" of these - Ford needs to make this right for their consumers. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |

| Aug 2024 | POWER TRAIN | My 2019 F150 transmission will downshift very harsh into first gear like the truck nose dives and will slam back into fourth after, like the transmission loses power. I have had it at the dealer when it was still in warranty and they had it for like two weeks and then said it was the throttle body but that definitely never fixed it. Since I am out of warranty I just learned to live with the issue for last couple of years and now I see there is a recall for this issue but my truck doesn’t fall under the recall or something. Trying to get help with fixing this issue. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
