| Aug 2025 | POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | On [XXX] with an empty vehicle besides I myself the driver, going south bound on [XXX] just north of twin falls Idaho I had cruise control set to 81 MPH when I felt a slow to the vehicle then noticed an uncontrolled/unprompted shift and loss of power indicated on the dash cluster jumping from 10-9-7-10-5-3-8-9 gears then transmission temperature went from 176 degrees to 205 degrees for the remainder of the trip. I proceeded to pull over and let the transmission rest for 45 mins then proceeded with my trip after not seeing any exterior damage or leaks. And it did not shift higher than 9th gear while cruise control was engaged even at lower speeds. The transmission then began to experience harder shifting, and gained a shutter like a clutch pack not engaging properly form 1-3rd gear, and sporadic shifting under light normal driving conditions at random intervals and remains to now have a normal operating temp of 204 degrees under normal driving conditions. Took it to be diagnosed at a ford dealer and it was the CDF drum that lead to a a cascade of issues leading to the transmission needing replacement. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Aug 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission failure. Transmission problems began with the having a significant delay in shifting when cold. This resulted in a safety concern when pulling out into traffic and the vehicle would stop moving. As the problem worsened shift points got harder and the truck computer would show that it was shifting from a high gear to first gear at highway speeds. A reputable transmission shop inspected the vehicle and removed the transmission. They confirmed that a sleeve or bushing in the CDF drum had moved and disrupted oil flow to the clutch packs. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | The transmission can behave erratically: Harsh shifting, jerking or lunging, occasional temporary loss of power, gear slipping, difficulty shifting gears, and unexpected movement while driving. I have already had the vehicle inspected and the transmission serviced, but the behavior continues at random times and is difficult to recreate on demand. This poses a potential safety threat to people in this vehicle and those nearby. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,600. | Crash: No Fire: No | 59,600 |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Transmission failure.. hard jerking and downshifting.. almost caused me to wreck while driving down the highway.. transmission skips gears and downshifting and almost brought me to a complete stop on the highway | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Unexpected downshift from 10th down to 1st gear then back to 10th. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the transmission failed to operate as intended, and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact coasted to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The vehicle received an undisclosed repair; however, when shifting to reverse and then into drive, the vehicle failed to respond while attempting to accelerate. The contact turned and restarted the vehicle and moved the gear shifter out of drive and then back into drive; however, the vehicle failed to respond, with the RPM elevated, with an undisclosed warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Metter Ford (125 Creek 28, Metter, GA 30439); to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the transmission case connector had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000. | Crash: No Fire: No Towed | 40,000 |
| Jul 2025 | FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | Transmission has a defective CDF drum assembly causing transmission to loose bypass hydraulic pressure. This is causing transmission to hesitate between gears during acceleration and Ford Dealer diagnosed failure and recommends replacing transmission as clutch packs are failing as well. Harsh downshifts as well. Contacted Ford Customer Service issued case number, then told they would not render and assistance is $9000. cost of.transmission replacement. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | While driving in Texas the transmission of my vehicle started to act up. While going up a hill the transmission came out of gear and would not go which almost caused an accident. The transmission is the Ford 10R80 which has had several safety issues. A recall needs to be issued by Ford to fix the issue at Ford's expense. This will cause a serious accident. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL | I own a 2019 Ford F-150 with only 94,000 miles on it—barely approaching 100,000—and I’m already experiencing significant transmission issues. The vehicle is equipped with the 10R80 transmission, and the way it shifts gears is extremely concerning. It’s unreasonable for such a critical component to show this level of failure so early. At this rate, it feels as though I’d need to replace the transmission every 94,000 miles, which is simply unacceptable and raises serious concerns about long-term reliability. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE | Vehicle Information: •Make: Ford •Model: F-150 •Year: 2019 •VIN: [XXX] Complaint Summary: Cam Phaser Defect — Safety Risk and Manufacturer Negligence 1. Component/System Failure This complaint involves a mechanical failure of the cam phaser system (part of the variable valve timing system) in the 3.5L EcoBoost engine of the above-referenced vehicle. Specifically, the locking pin within the cam phasers fails to engage properly, resulting in a loud knocking or rattling noise on cold start. This condition is a known defect documented in Ford TSB 19-2208 and subject to Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) 21N03, which extended coverage for cam phaser repair. However, no official safety recall has been issued, despite widespread evidence of failure. The defective parts are still installed in the vehicle and are available for inspection upon request. 2. Risk to Safety This defect compromises driver and public safety and constitutes a violation of 49 U.S.C. § 30101 and 49 U.S.C. § 30118, which obligate manufacturers to notify NHTSA and owners when a defect poses an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety. Specifically: •Failure of cam phasers leads to improper valve timing, risking engine hesitation, loss of power, or stall conditions. •These symptoms can occur during acceleration, highway driving, or merging, creating conditions that significantly increase the risk of collision or engine failure while in motion. The defect may also cause internal engine damage over time, raising the risk of mechanical breakdown in traffic. 3.Confirmation of the Problem This issue has been confirmed by a certified Ford dealership and an independent ASE-certified mechanic. Both diagnosed the startup noise as a cam phaser locking failure, consistent with widespread reports from other Ford 3.5L EcoBoost owners. Neither party could provide a fix without significant out-of-pocket cost, despite Ford’s knowledge of the issue and internal bulletins acknowledging the issu INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN,LANE DEPARTURE | Transmission flutters a little before changing from 1st to 2nd gear. In 4th and 5th gear the transmission pauses a few seconds before going into the next gear. From 8th gear to the ninth gear, the transmission jerks really hard. The transmission only has 72000 miles on it. And also the dash board material is coming up.The lane assist jerks really hard sometimes, forcing you in another lane. No warnings or faults during each incidents. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM | I drive a 2019 Ford F-150 with the 3.5L engine and 10 speed transmission. I have received a warning for low fuel pressure, trouble starting, and the truck has cut off once after turning over. It never fails to crank, however, it may take 5 or so seconds of cranking to get it to start. I have had the check engine light come on one time over the last couple of months of the issues starting; the code it showed was a P00C6. I have not brought the vehicle in for service as it just started a couple months ago when it got hot outside and there was a recent recall that did not include this VIN but matches the issue exactly. The warning states to not drive the vehicle and to get it towed if fuel is not low. The recall states there is not a current fix for the issue and I need my vehicle. This is a daily problem, mostly after the vehicle sits for a couple of hours. I am also having an issue with the cam phaser rattle upon startup and rattling while driving. I have noticed some power reduction and it has progressively gotten worse over time. I am at 135,000 miles currently and have experienced this issue for the last 50,000 miles or so. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Our home is situated on a blind curve, and the speed limit is 55 mph. When pulling out onto the road, adequate acceleration is necessary to merge with the traffic flow. The truck initially accelerates as expected, then stops accelerating before suddenly jerking forward. Occasionally, it takes several seconds for the vehicle to accelerate, which creates a hazardous situation when approaching traffic is moving at 55 mph. It has not caused an accident yet but it has caused me to adjust my driving and times to use the truck. I use my wife's car (another Ford) most of the time. This hesitation and strange shifting poses safety risks for all road users. On 5/21/2025, I took the truck to Ford dealer, and on 5/30/2025, was informed that major work was required on the transmission and differential, estimated at $12,383.80. Seeking an alternative assessment due to financial considerations, I consulted a specialist who confirmed that the transmission and pinion bearings needed repair or replacement. The vehicle was returned to dealer on 6/4/2025 for differential repairs, completed on 6/13/2025 at a cost of $4,486.26. The transmission repair was not in the budget. Subsequent research indicated that the 10R80 transmission has a record of mechanical issues, service bulletins, recalls, and related legal matters. It appears likely that the jerky shifting of the transmission contributed to the failure of the pinion bearings. Although the truck is out of warranty and has 64,430 miles, given the safety concerns, I request that Ford review my case for assistance with the remaining transmission repairs, in light of documented issues with the 10R80. I request that Ford evaluate this request in consideration of customer satisfaction, public safety, and corporate responsibility. I know Ford is well aware of the problems as there are 474 other complaints on file. They need to step up and do the right thing before this causes serious injuries. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE | I purchased this truck about a year ago. After two oil changes, the cam phasers began to rattle on startup. It has the 3.5l Ecoboost engine. This is a known problem and there have been tsb's but they come and go during short windows. The cam phasers were finally updated in 2021 but some people have paid thousands in and out of warranty, some multiple times before the issue is fixed. Ford says they are just a noise and do not cause any issues but the resale is directly effected whether private party or trade in (repair typically costs between $4-7500). Mine started making noise at 89,000 miles. Some people go years with the engine rattling and others have check engine lights and engine issues a shirt time after it begins. Ford knows it is a problem and the customer service sometimes will assist with the cost and other times they tell people to file a complaint here to finally get a recall going. The repair is in depth and typically requires the removal of the cab from the frame, making it likely that everything won't be reassembled correctly. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE | At 101,000 miles, the engine lost power, check engine light came on, and service transmission light came on. This happened while pulling a trailer up a mountain, slowing the truck rapidly, and becoming a hazard to surrounding interstate traffic. The dealer diagnosed the problem as the timing chain, and replaced it and all related components at a cost of $4500. They tell me that this is a problem with that year truck and engine. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | Bought a 2019 ford f150 V6 3.5L Having issues with transmission slipping gears really hard! Even after warming up car then put in drive I accelerate maybe 3-5mph Due to speed bumps in neighborhood From gear 1 skips 2 and goes to 3rd gear hard and I have to be ready to break cause it kicks in to 3rd gear and speeds up. Even when on main road almost almost crashed into cars. Numerous times. It’s actually scary during with family in truck do to these issues. Also just that 40-45 mph 5-7 gear skip and slipping so much almost crashed!! . Pls investigate this issue people bye this brand due to thinking it’s a safe, spend so much money on this truck purchase then find out problems that has nothing to do with its customer. Just selling something just to stay in the 500 fortune company lvl And not caring bout the customer life and family when they purchase FORD PRODUCT. Just NOT RIGHT!! There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart, and the contact continued driving. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 30,000 |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | We bought a 2019 F-150 Limited 4x4 last year and we have experienced in the last couple of months we started to experience the truck to skip the shifting on the 10 gear transmission. it skips the gear 2 to 3 and then at 6 to 7, you can experience the pulling on the transmission. it is starting to feel more and more the jerking of the gears and we were advised by a mechanic we called that these trucks from years 2016 to 2019 all are having the same problems. these truck are requiring for the transmission to be overhauled or replace. costing anywhere between 5,000 to 7,000. we were told that it has nothing to do with reprogramming the transmission, the inside components need to be replaced, it seems like when these transmissions were build by ford, the components/parts, seals, gaskets, bands, etc were not properly done. we have found several people in the internet that have had the same problem but it seems like Ford MOtor Company does not want to take liability for the transmissions being assemble incorrectly. it seems like the truck is loosing RPM's and it runs the risk of one day not to drive. It can loose power in the road which can cause accident. we are not financially to get this replaced or repaired and we still have 3 years topay off this truck. I do not know if there are any other complaints against FOrd MOtor Company regarding this but I need to let you all know. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING,ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 94,584. | Crash: No Fire: No | 94,584 |
| Jul 2025 | ENGINE | The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal loud rattling sound on cold starts. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 21N03. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. | Crash: No Fire: No | 100,000 |
| Jul 2025 | POWER TRAIN | At freeway speeds, truck suddenly started shifting into random gears. It was cruising in 10th gear at about 65-70mph, with trailer in tow, driving normally and fine. Truck started shifted randomly, slipping gears, and going out of gear completely causing power loss. Transmission would then attempt to shift back into gear, all on its own. It would go into 5th through 10 all while slipping back out of gear in between. Some of the down shifts were sudden, and caused me to concentrate to keep the truck and trailer in control. After a few minutes of this, smoke appeared out the back, quite a deal of smoke. It wasn't long until the transmission temperature guage started reading high (but not warning or critical). Then the check engine like came on with "powertrain error". I was able to pull off the freeway, but under duress as it was very busy, and the smoke caused another motorist to pull over and see if I was on fire. It appeared the transmission fluid was "venting" and spraying on the exhaust, and after pulling over it luckily stopped, otherwise I'm sure that oil would have caught fire shortly. | Crash: No Fire: No | Unknown |
